im sure you'll be thinking why the hell i even bought it, as i said in another post, some movies just need another watch without the hype i've already gave my opinion on the movie and to be honest not much has changed, still just a very very average that would be exactly the same movie without the dc license. anyways onto the dvd, the two disc edition has the movie on the 1st one (obviously) and then a handful of extras not even worth mentioning on disc 2. very disappointing, no proper making off, only a short about them bitching how hard the imax camera was to use, then i stopped watching it was so dull. i would have liked something about the make-up for two-face or some behind the scenes stuff, anything interesting. no doubt a special edition will be out around oscar time to get the hype up again oh and aaron eckhart is still far superior to heath ledger in it |

I bought this yesterday along with Hellboy II. The first thing I noticed upon seeing it in the shops was the rather lacklustre packaging. Just your standard DVD in a slipcase. I'd expected something a little more special from "the biggest film of the year". Even Hellboy II had a Special Edition with a Golden Army robot model. But I eventually found the "HMV Exclusive" edition and plummed for that. I usually detest these shop exclusive versions for reasons I can't quite explain but this was by far the better option this time with a better-than-average box (containing a very poor comic with the DVD). Upon getting them home I sat and juggled Dark Knight and Hellboy - unsure what to watch. I eventually went for Hellboy. And LOVED it!!! It's a fantastic movie bulging with imagination and a very screwed up sense of humour. Far superior to the first one. On a high after that I decided to stay up past my bedtime and watch some of The Dark Knight... Meh, I was bored after the first hour. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it but I found it tedious, boring and edited in a rather dodgy fashion as they try and cram so much wonky plot in, all boiling under the momentum of the (admitedly excellent) score. I'll give it another go at the weekend but I don't think it'll ever beat Batman Begins for me. |
