More Powerful Than You Can Ever Imagine

So come the 19th November everyone will have the new xbox experience downloaded when they connect to live.

As some of you know I was lucky enough to get in on the 3rd wave of the preview program & have it now, so i thought I'd post up my impressions etc in advance.

The new dashboard just feels a whole lot smoother to use. Takes awhile to get used to the new layout, but after a play about you son get used to it. Hopefully you all downloaded the free GOW2 theme on the launch weekend as this was the first theme to utilise all the NXE stuff & really shows the potential for future themes.

Don't worry though, any themes & gamerpics you have previously downloaded can still be used.

speaking of gamer pics, mine now looks like....

Yep thats right once you have made your avatar you can take a pic of him/her to use as your pic.

My full avatar looks like.....

There are lots of options for the avatar, many more than the Wii's Mii's.

When you are in the Avatar creation or photo tools, try clicking the thumb stick buttons & the bumper buttons (trust me, its funny)

The ability to install games is a godsend.

I don't know about anyone else, but when playing GOW2 my disk drive seemed to be in overdrive & damn noisy. Take the 10 mins to install the game & the 360 becomes almost silent.

I also have noticed that installing the game has made a few differences to the graphical quality too. When a new level loaded up it would take a few seconds for the full graphics to load up, so I would sometimes be left looking at a level made up of almost completely flat blocks until it all refresehed. This was almost none existent after the install.

Mass effect has much improved loading times after install too. Those boring elevator rides are now much shorter, lol

all in all I'm impressed so far with what I've had time to look at (haven't really touched the marketplace yet), hopefully you guys & gals will like it too. I know MS have worked very hard on this update to make sure the xbox experience is as good as it can be.

I'll be about online on wednesday if anyone gets stuck & needs a few pointers once they get the NXE & I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on it once you've had a play with it.

definately need to get pics up of everyones avatars ;)
