I thought Timeline and Eaters of the Dead were wonderful adventure novels. He had a wonderful way of making you sense the potential foreigness and terrifying aspects of other time periods. Actually I think I'll watch Timeline and The 13th Warrior this weekend (he practically directed 13th Warrior after John McTiernan jumped ship to direct Thomas Crown Affair).
