What was not guaranteed however is how good it would actually be. I had expected a cheap rip off of Big with a pretty boy star. What you actually get is quite a clever film, with some seriously funny gags. I saw this with the same perosn who sat through HSM cringing, and sighing loudly...she asked today if we could go back and see 17 Again soon cos she'd liked it so much. Yes, it's a girly film, but the geeky Sci -Fi fan nerdy best friend is obviously placed to appeal to the guys who will no doubt be dragged along to this reluctantly. (Ned actually lives in a dream home...he owns actual light-sabres, actual Yoda's, actual C3POs and speaks Elvish...what more do you need in a film??) Don't dismiss this simply because Zac Efron is in it, or for the fact it's being aimed at 8 yr olds...it actually features a few scenes which I'd be unhappy to let a child sit through (a health class dishing out condoms, talk of errections and the description of what a bastard is)....it's a simple film which gets some laughs.
