According to BBC website today, a film version of Stephen Kings IT is in the pipeline... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7941335.stm As a massive Stephen King fan, this is the best movie news I've heard in a long time...or it was until i continued to read the page and discovered a version of Pet Sematary is also being worked on. The mini-series of IT is superb - Even with John Boy Walton - so i've got my fingers crossed that this version, with modern day SFX available, can only better it. |

Sadly I can't share your optimism for one reason...Tim Curry. The man makes Pennywise terrifying, and I can't see anyone else being able to bring that menace to the screen, especially not these days, where good actors seem almost non existent And please no-one mention Johnny Depp. NO!!!!!!! He shouldn't be in every movie. Just checked imdb and bar voicing Victor in The Corpse Bride his last good movie was Blow in 2001 and before that Ed Wood in 1994, although I'm sure some people will give him Fear and Loathing from 98. Jesus, I'm actually a Depp fan, writing that was depressing Edited by hobbes, Mar 15 2009, 04:53 AM.

The original novel and TV series are classics but I think an update may actually work. I won't be so quick to write it off until I hear the casting and actually see some of it. And while Tim Curry was suitably freaky as Pennywise, and the man is a legend to me for er, Legend, I wouldn't put him down as a great actor seeing as he's gurned and hammed his way through pretty much every part he's ever had. And it can't be any worse than Dreamcatcher. |

The actor thing was just another rant i had going on in my head after watching a a bit of Sweeney Todd on tv. I'm mental but I'm not mental enough to call Tim Curry a good actor...lol |

Well, I think it's only fair to say that his turn in Congo was an acting masterclass. And he basically stole Charlie's Angels from the leads with a mere cameo. |

I was thinking back to Lost Boys, and the Keiffer from that film could pull off Pennywise. However, now that he's resigned himself to 24, most people can't see beyond that, so not sure that would work for a scary clown. |
