The Two Warriors; Tony and Me

I stood in Hope, my steed Ruin was beneath me and was carrying me. The beast had proven useful and very loyal in the past few days. Looking around, I constantly saw people darting from window to window. People who were too afraid to look at me in the open, but were fascinated by the stories that were told, about the devil that brought death upon the weak and sought the strong. None of these people appeared as warriors, and it was a shame. I wished to spill the blood of a warrior and feel the energy of their soul enter me and empower me. I didn’t want these cowards. Where were the warriors and the killers that were banished to this hell like my brother and I were?

As if Void was answering my wishes, a man walked out into the middle of the road, and another followed him. Both were small, scrawny, obviously not physical fighters, but I knew that didn’t mean they weren’t warriors. They were, I could smell it in the air, blood stained both of these men as much blood that stained me, and I smiled. I dismounted my steed and drew my blade.

The three of us knew what would happen. Either I would die, or they would die. There was no way for the three of us to live, we were all predators, and I invaded their territory; they could not allow that, but I would beat them. I needed to defeat them, for my brother needed me. If he didn’t have me, the world would enter an age of darkness that would not end. I was the barrier that kept humanity alive, by weeding the weak from the strong, and leaving the strong to serve as our enemies. Eventually no enemies would remain and Aria would enter the age of Void, but it would have been because humanity failed, not the alternative of my brother using Void to destroy.

The two men drew no weapons, but I had expected as much, instead one created Fire in his palms, while the other man summoned creatures from nothing, bestial demons that served the unholy summoner with mindless loyalty. I roared and charged as the three beasts came towards me. I grabbed one’s head and spun it into another of the summoned creatures before swinging my blade down and separating the only standing beast in half. However that proved disastrous, for the severed beast grew into two new beasts. Each as strong and healthy as the original was at conception. There was no way for me to destroy these creatures, and I heard laughter from the two men, both were still standing still. The elemental master raised his hands into the air, and brought a rain of fire down upon me. The fire seemed to only energize the demons, but it burned my skin. I could feel wounds forming, but no blood being lost. As long as I had my blood, I would win.

I roared again and leapt, clearing the demons and landing beside the two magicians. I grabbed the summoner’s head and slammed it into the ground, hearing the crunch of bone against the hard sand. He was still alive, but now powerless. In response to my destruction of his strength, I heard the sounds of the demons cease. They were gone, and it left only the fire master and me to fight. “Bring it, you ass face.” The man merely laughed in my face as he summoned ball after ball of fire and hurled them at me. I was able to bring my blade around to deflect each blow, each fiery death was averted, and instead of my death, the deaths of many residents of Hope happened, for the flames spread to the buildings nearby. “Can’t you hit me?” I snarled at the man and charged him; I grabbed his robe and lifted him into the air, but stopped before I brought my blade across his neck.

“Do you wish to serve me in death better than you have lived your life?” The man nodded, intrigued by my thought process. “Well then, your summoner friend over there is going to implant your soul into my blade. You will have eternal life, as my weapon, as my instrument of death. Perhaps you will be able to expand your powers through my blade and lend me your fiery prowess, if not; your company will at least keep me entertained when I am alone.” The man nodded again and I drag him over to the summoner. “I know you still have your powers warlock, now use your magic to place this man’s soul into my blade. I do not care if it kills you, you will do it or you will suffer a fate worse than death.”

The summoner nodded in fear, and began to draw symbols on my sword and the magician, soon both were covered in hellish writing and the man began to chant, I stood there and watched, the whole ordeal was intriguing, the magician’s body slowly slumped and then finally crumpled to the ground, and the warlock collapsed, exhausted and dying from his injuries and exertion. I picked the blade up and suddenly felt the presence of the magician. I could feel his soul and I knew him instantly. I knew him as well as I knew myself. He urged me to kill the warlock, claiming he served his purpose. I did not know that the blade now craved the taste of souls. It needed them as sustenance; I would come to learn it though, very soon. I sunk the blade into the warlock and heard laughter of delight and screams of horror. I saw the soul of the warlock leave his body and enter my sword, and I knew then that my sword stole the souls of those it killed. It excited me. For now my weapon would truly kill, and with such a weapon and such a fate, who would dare face me, only the bravest and only the strongest. “I shall call you Chaos, and you shall bring Death to my enemies.”

I hunger for more. Sate my thirst and I shall bring you power.

I knew where the voice came from, it was my blade; it was Chaos. It needed more souls, and it needed healthy, strong souls. There were none in Hope that could fulfill its hunger for carnage. I knew this, and it knew it as well. It was pleading me to seek out the strong, to seek out the worthy, and to kill them. I could do that. There had to be someone who was strong. I mounted Ruin and rode out of Hope. I was in search of death; I was in search of the strong. Little did I know that I was death; I was the strong, and to search for myself would take an entire lifetime.

What was that?’

The phrase broke out of my mouth as if something urged me to say it. My eyes were dilating, my breathing was tense and my flesh, crawling with sweat and one thing; Fear. What could it have been? That shifting aura that came from the light lifting from the body. Yes, I saw the agony and Yes I did nothing to prevent it but; does that mean I should have done something? Does that mean I have an obligation to have stop the slaughter of the poor boy?

Eri Katana asked herself this thousand and thousands of times over and over within her head. It all came back nothing. For the time she has spent in the nothing area when she was banished, she has read countless books and studied countless topics but this, this has never been seen or noticed one bit. It was an ordeal that the warrior herself; have not ran across. A warrior must train the body that is correct but if the soul is left as it is, uneducated; then that strength will mean nothing if the soul is not fully aware of the power.

She walked through the sands along this path. There was nothing on her left and nothing on her right, except sand. It was almost unbearable on her body as she could of sworn there was no sky, just another sea of sand above her. Stopping and lowering her head, the straw head ornament covering her skull and shading her eyes and skin from the scorching sun was adjusted. She then heard a scream of agony from a woman. Katana looked forward to see a woman in scramble run forward.

Just then a gust of sand erupted on the side of the road a little behind the woman as she ran. Kat covered her face as the sand looked as if it ran from the impact itself. ‘What was that just now’ as she lowered her arm from her face and the sand slowly fell back to the ground. It was then that she heard it. She had heard this many times before but now it was louder and clearer than anything she’s ever heard before.

It was the screams of twenty steer’s all yelling at once as if there head was severed from their soon to be lifeless bodies in this one gathered pitch. It was, frankly the most frightening sound I’ve ever heard. ‘I have to get out of here. I have to escape…’ After she thought that a plea of help from the terrified woman in front of her. She turned back to heard and see another impact on the ground. She looked closer this time to notice that the sand was not just being blown around but in fact, there was a strong impact with the ground that was causing this.

It was then that she saw it. Its dark form with muscles shifted in. It was standing on all fours low to the ground. Its body was probably the size of a hut that could fit an entire family inside of it. The worst and most horrible feature of all was it’s face. It was something that she had not seen ever and it made her take a few steps back. A large white mask with glowing blue eyes, but not like normal eyes. It’s eyes were just a shade of a single color, looking like the light flashing from the late night moon. It moved its neck upwards and opened its mouth as it roared loudly.

‘There it goes again…’ Kat said lowly as the creature yelled and looked down. He shifted his attention between the person next to her and Eri herself. She then felt a pulsating pressure around her. It was a strong pulse felt through her whole body. It came over and over separated by just seconds as Eri started to breath hard. Her arm started to have a glow emanate from it. Her blade began to also glow in the sheath as she heard cracking as it something was breaking.

The beast charged forward and leapt high into the air. It came down with it’s mouth opened, which in turn had a second mouth on the inside of the first which opened and had drool and spit all around. ‘What the fuck?!’ Eri muttered as she shoved the woman to the side and out of the way. She rolled to the side as the beast attempt at pouncing on katana failed. It scrambled as it skidded across the pavement over to the side a few yards off. It got up as Katana stood to face it watching out for the woman.

‘Why can’t you hear me?...

Another voice called out to Eri. She took her attention off of the beast as the spot on her arm glowing came into a physical manifestation from the glow. A small 4-winged humanoid appeared. Was this a fairy Katana thought to herself and the small woman with long hair, silver wings and a long face. She wore a pair of slacks with matching top that was similar to Katana’s. ‘No I’m not a fairy. I am the manifestation of what you always desired. For all your hard work spent through the years training, I am your Desire Kat and I am also you…’

The beats continued to stomp it’s way as *Kat* rolled and evaded the beast again. It slumped down and got it’s arms stuck in the sand. “Do you truly wish to rid yourself ot this nuisance Kt?’ Of Course Eri nodded in agreement as the small ‘fairy’ continued. ‘Take your hand to your fabled Feng and release me from the chamber so that WE can awaken together.’ ‘Who are you?’ Katana exclaimed but there was no time. She stood and spun as she spreaded her legs. In unison the small fairy above her did the same. Reaching over to her side she grabbed the head of her blade, Feng and pulled it out as it wasn’t even Feng. It was a completely different blade from it’s predecessor. It was a smooth blade extending probably 37 inches in length, a heart shaped, silver hand guard and a mixture of black and white grip.

‘No time to admire the blade it’s coming!’ The small woman shouted as Eri swung and blocked the thrust of this beast. As she did the beast’s hand came clean off. Could it be that this small blade had shaven this beats of his right hand? Agonizing screams from the beast were heard along with blood squirting from its wrist. ‘That was nice but to end this ordeal, take the blade and aim for the white shield over his face. You pierce it’s *mask* and that will end it.’ The small woman barked as Katana sheathed the blade.

She held it at her side in a crouched position ready to unleash the blade again at any notice and waited for the beast to come. It started to come as it leapt towards and within a flashed it passed Eri who was standing with her sword drawn. She was completely fine but the beast however, had it’s face cut by the blade and it slowly evaporated in the air.
‘There will be a time that comes again when you will need my assistance…’ a Hand was over the shoulder of the small woman. It silenced her without fully coming into reality as she disappeared not to be seen from again from that day forward. That was two weeks ago and yet Eri was still on the same pathway. Dressed in the same garb and wearing the same hat. There she walked pondering the events of the past. Wondering if they really happened or not.

I would learn over time how foolish it was to create that blade. I should never have put that chaotic magician’s soul in there; I cannot change it now though, and forever more I shall be cursed to wander this world with this blade, the blade of chaos. Back then however it was perfect. It empowered me, it served me, or at least I thought it did. Little did I know that its powers invaded my mind and were attempting to wrestle control from me, a constant battle that would be fought for the rest of my life.

On the fateful day that I created Chaos, allowing that wretched soul to live forever in my blade, and consequently allowing me to live forever as the souls it drained rejuvenated my body and kept me young. I was travelling the wastes that were Nowhere, a desolate land that I had no liking for, even then as the evil man that I was, I know now that my past self belonged there, just as my past self deserved these brands. Beneath me was Ruin, he was a faithful steed, and he served me well. On my back was the damned blade Chaos, beginning its way into my mind and merging with my mind. The blade of pure Chaos would lead me down a dark path of evil before I would find my other half and become the person I am today.

Riding along the wastes of Nowhere I saw nothing. It was day and no one was out in the desert, it was a near certain death sentence, but I could see the light fading, and I knew that it would soon become night. Chaos was constantly whispering in my ear, urging me forward, urging me to kill and slaughter, urging me to let go and become one with him. I refused. I was too prideful to do so, and for that, I am grateful, for it kept my soul intact, it kept me alive. The sword would prove to be my savior as well, but it came at a terrible cost.

As I rode throughout the wastes, a speck appeared in the horizon. I urged Ruin forward and approached it, as it grew larger I realized it was a human, a human walking alone in the wastes must be a powerful person I had thought at the time so I stopped. I rode Ruin next to the woman, sword still on my back even though it screamed for me to spill blood. I was a warrior though, I would not slay an opponent dishonorably in the back, I would fight them in a battle and allow pure skill to determine the outcome, skill that would always bend in my favor, or so I thought at the time.

“Why are you out here alone? Don’t you fear the evils of Nowhere?” I asked, smiling as I reached up and grabbed the hilt of my sword, the blade hissed in joy as I drew it and held it in my hand. It was trying to force me to attack this woman, but I was stronger, and I was able to remain in control and keep the blade harmlessly at my side.

As the horse came to a stop next to Eri, She froze in her steps. She went from a hunched position to more of a statuesque one and remained that way. She rotated her head to the right of her slightly to see that it was in fact a horse standing next to her with a man on its back, carrying him. He approached her but it was not him that she sensed. What could It have been? She sensed a thick fog surrounding her as the man began to speak. Asking the female why she was out here, and didn’t she fear the evil that was nowhere.

She turned her face so half of it faced the man under her jingasa and simply replied in a monotonous tone; “To fear nowhere is to be afraid of nothing itself”. She felt that this man harbored some lust that was similar to the man she met with the older man. It was the same sense except 100 fold as the man drew and blade by the hilt and held it in his hand. What on earth could this man be thinking?

‘You really don’t know what he’s thinking?’ and it appeared again. The area around Katana seemed to get darker as an entity sprang from her arms. It had arms, legs, hair, and wings and as a female humanoid dressed much like Kat was herself. It’s been a month since that incident and a month since she last seen this form. ‘Its been 32 days since I last heard anything from you or felt your presence and before this man you come out and speak to me?’ The small female snickered and placed a hand on her head. ‘Don’t act like you haven’t felt us here. You knew all along that I was real and it wasn’t a dream or nightmare.’ Kat grew a look on her face as her eyes broadened over the form. ‘I do have an explanation but look her little warrior, We OWE you nothing!’ Katana swung in the air in annoyance as the small form was getting to her. It shifted as it seemed to disappear only to re-appear on the other side.

‘Such anger the docile branded has. If only others knew what was bottled up inside of you… You shouldn’t concern yourself with my appearance or what I am right now. I appear only when there need be since you can’t really here me speak.’ Eri raised an eyebrow and noted that she could here clearly. The small woman knocked her upside her head and explained. ‘You hear what I say because Im telepathically speaking, if I stop that and speak verbally, you will not be able to hear me spea….’ And with that the sound left her ears, or for lack of better reasoning her mind. ‘It’s just like I told you now stop acting like you know everything! Just know that something isn’t right about this man. It may be a time where you have to fight him, Now might just be that time…’

Eri placed a hand on her jingasa brim and threw it up in the air, disrobing herself and spinning as she grabbed the hilt of her blade and pulled it out. The black and white hilt, silver heart shaped guard was the prelude to a 37 inched blade that had no name. She slid a few feet as she felt something. She could see something, although it was unclear. Something about the air around this man was uncouth and dreaded. She held the blade over her head, in her right hand as the pointed edge of the weapon was directed at the man.

‘I really don’t know why you’re here, but my blade is telling me you’re here to do battle. I would like to not fight you but it doesn’t look like I have a say in the matter…’

The day I met Eri was a momentous one. It started a rivalry that would be legendary, and perhaps will be written about when I finally grow tired of life and cast away this evil blade and succumb to my old age. I remember perfectly every event that happened. She had replied to me with one of her smart ass comments, something that I would come to associate with her. I would even go so far as to call them Eri comments. How that woman got under my skin every time I saw her I do not know, but she could, and she used that ability. “Fearing nowhere is stupid. Fearing the evils locked in here is smart, unless you are the most evil.” I said that before she drew her blade, and when she did and challenged me, I smiled. Combat always excited me, it still does to this day; nothing tells would tell me that I am alive more than a battle with another opponent, especially one that was evenly matched to me.

I dismounted Ruin as she threatened me, laughing as I shoved my blade into the ground tip first, stepped off of Ruin, and picked the weapon up again. I was holding the blade on my shoulder, standing nonchalantly as if I thought of this battle as below me, and I did. I was prideful then, I had not found the Balance, and I was the embodiment of evil, and the sins. I did not have to worry about Ruin, I knew he would not run away and would make sure to stay out of the way of my blade, and this small woman. I saw her blade and chuckled inwardly at how small it was, at how small she was. She was a foot shorter than he was, and her blade was half his in length. By sheer size, I dwarfed this woman, I had reach, I had strength, I had Chaos, I had everything on my side. I believed this fight would be easy, so I was not taking it seriously.

*Watch every moment. Study his every fiber.*
“Every Fiber? What does that mean?” It was Eri talking when she was a young girl to her instructor. *To watch every moment; it is impossible to watch every moment so this must mean to be attentive to your surroundings, the adversary and thyself. And to watch every fiber? That is to notice the small details so that you can discern and see the next move by likenesses in all movements. Recklessness, speed, power, sluggish; these are all types of fighters. You find what type of fighter he is early on. He will be yours and highly off-balance.*

She lowered her eyes with eyesight that darted across the sand as if in a high-speed mode which analyzed the opponent down to the tea. His large sword and stance was completely unfitting of a warrior. This guy could be ended in a heap though, Eri felt a bit of a rush at this point. Was it her lust for battle as a warrior or was it something else that drew her closer and closer? “Smart you say? He who dances with the devil sits in his court of flames only to perish…” She boasts as he notes its her move. She inches her way forward by swiveling both feet to move. Taking off at a dash, her footsteps were well placed, soft and firm. She took a leap with a spin as she sent the blade in a counter-clockwise slash as she spun around. Her strike came short to make it seem like she missed. The purpose of this was to draw up sand and use it to sort of blind the warrior ahead of her. If this was affective she would continue to spin and send a kick flying his way, roundhouse style of course.

Dropping back into stance shortly after and continually watching the guys movements.

I had stood there while I waited. This girl was a strange one. She claimed that the evil would perish in the devil’s court. She was right; evil would perish in the devil’s court, unless that evil was the devil. I was the devil back then, along with my brother we embodied evil to a point that mortals would sense it and revile us. Sadly, we welcomed that revilement, welcomed it and craved it, for it brought us power. This girl was prideful in her skills, as much as I was, and she was a good fighter. However, she underestimated me at first.

Her strike was slow to start, it was easy enough to see her ready her body to leap into the air and slash towards me. I wasn’t a stupid person. I may never have received a formal education, but I had learned to fight through the simplest and most practical of ways, through the fires of actual combat. I learned quickly when my life was on the line. I wasn’t the most refined warrior, but I knew how to fight. I saw her swing, and it was easy enough for me to calculate that it was short. I stood still as she missed and watched as her blade dug into the sand, picking up the sand and throwing it into the air. “Sight is only one of the senses. Blind me, but I can still hear you.” I stepped back and felt the wind from the girl’s kick swing past me. “Is that all you have? You ready to suffer an eternity because you’re fighting half assed with tricks?”

I was angry; she seemed to be taking me as a joke, not fully bringing her potential out. I wasn’t bringing my full power out, hell my weapon was still on my shoulder, but I wanted to see her strength first; I wanted to be forced to use my weapon. I wanted a true opponent. I smiled as the sand settled down and charged the woman. Holding the weapon on my shoulder I then swung it as I charged; expecting the first strike to miss, and then I brought it back around overhead towards the girl. I was able to swing twice because of the sheer size of my weapon. I could strike an opponent six feet away, and I could hit them twice before I was within range of their weapon.

He could tell. I had a feeling that he would be able to tell although I did it anyway. What is this feeling? Although I vowed against this and this man in front of me is purely evil, I am somewhat enjoying this. Its like time and the planet are one in the same, rotating and extending this moment. The time where most live for a matter of seconds and die forever from the bliss.

The man gloated about something. He never left his lax stance with the blade coming over his shoulder and was able to still dodge the two volley’s from Eri. She dropped back into stance as the man charged in. He may have noted something was off about her with her *tricks*. The spirit appeared next to her from her shoulder again. ‘You heard him too?’ Katana noted as the small woman nodded. Katana watched as the man charged as she moved her left hand to the sheath. She spun clockwise, avoiding the strike but that was only happenstance as she went low to a crouch as she spun using her sword to send a low slash. It didn’t stop there however as she spun again using the momentum of the slash and turned with a strike with her other hand which had the sheath in hand.

The second strike would have been initiated by the fact that to dodge the first one would leave him open while in the air, and with a blade that huge, there wasn’t a way that he would be able to get it up in time to parry Katana’s second strike from the sheath or so she had hoped. He wanted to see her true strength, will this was a glimmer of it.

I remember how easily this woman had dodged my blows; she was a skilled warrior that was no issue to doubt. Her skill with her blade was tremendous at the time, and it only grew over time. However, my skill with the blade was also truly remarkable. My blade was large, but so was I, and I could lift the blade and maneuver it easily, as easily as a child could swing a stick. Time seemed to slow down as I saw Eri drop to the sand and spin. Her attack was easy to block, but I was sure of the fact that she had another plan. Another one of her tricks I assumed. I saw it, a moment before it would be too late. I saw the sheath in her other hand and knew that her true attack was a blow with that. It was time for her to realize my true strength. I stepped back easily, allowing the blade to swing in front of me without harming me. I soon felt the sheath connect with my side, the blow was strong, but I was stronger. It would leave no lasting effect on me; I was strong enough to withstand blows from a sheath. However, the blow did have strength behind it, and I was pushed to the left slightly.

However, I now had my opening, she was still in the effects of her attack, and I was well enough to attack and take advantage of that opportunity. I did just that as I reached to grab her sheath that my body had stopped, pulling it to my right. As I did that, I brought my sword down at an angle from my left to my right. She was the disadvantage, the time it would take for her to get out of my blow’s way was great, only a truly skilled warrior would be able to dodge my blow, and if she decided to take it, it wouldn’t be like her blow against me. My blade would slice into her flesh, carving away to her soul and drawing it out to be my blade’s plaything.

Simplicity, ambiguity, and silence.

These three words ran through her head as she tested out his movements with improved strategies. Each decisive moved she had done to prone the man to moving was met with simple movements and no words. He spoke but not during his movement as he was callously executing them. His style wasn’t defined yet but it seemed he was the powerhouse, he was slow and meticulous.

He dodged the first swung and even took the blow. That reassured Eri that eh was strong, possibly stronger than her, physically that is. She slid but then lashed out and reached for her sheath and held it tight. Katana didn’t try to fight this as she saw the chance for her to take advantage. His blade was large and hers was small. No way she could parry it or meet it with the same power. Her only chance was to strike against the skin itself. Taking her right hand when she was grabbed, her body was pulled in which she used to thrust her blade into the forearm of the down coming blade ( the arm which held the sword in it of Eraph). Blood would be shed but who’s would come out wounded?
