Sabaku and Raphael were walking along the paths of the marshlands. Sabaku did not like staying in the cabin he was given as lodging unless he had to. If it was nice out he would be out as well, enjoying nature. Raphael was always with him when he left the cabin, Sabaku did not mind the man’s company; in fact he enjoyed it most often. The two were on a walk through the massive marshland that surrounded the capital. Sabaku was warned to stay out of the capital until the plague was cured, as his immune system would be naturally weaker to illnesses of this area since he was foreign. He found that to be logical and stayed in the countryside with Raphael. Even with the man’s company, Sabaku felt alone most often. Raphael had the class system embedded into him, no matter how much Sabaku tried to break it down between them. He did not want formalities between him and others if possible. Sabaku was an informal person.

While the two walked, Sabaku had his left arm inside his kimono resting in the center opening, using it as a makeshift sling, and it hid his bandages and kept passerby’s from asking questions, although the two warriors saw few passerby’s. “Raphael, tell me. Who are some of the well known noble families of Aleia? I figure it is time for me to learn of them if I am ever going to enter the public scene.”

“Well sir,” the samurai looked over at the westerner and he corrected himself, “Well Sabaku, there is the Nostrius family. They are powerful and very well known. The head of the family, Master Nostrius has a son who has a small manor near here. The son’s name is Faylan I believe.”

“Well this Faylan fellow seems like a right good man. I’d love to meet him. Can you arrange to have him over at the cabin in a few days for a meet and greet? It’s time I started meeting people. Don’t you think?” Sabaku was excited, in his mind he was making plans for the lunch they could have, he would make something neutral so as to not upset the other noble’s stomach or tastes.

“Yes Sabaku, I will arrange a lunch.”

A few days later, letters had been exchanged and the meeting was agreed upon. Sabaku was in the cabin preparing everything with Raphael. Sabaku was wearing a silk kimono that had white dragons stitched into it. He had no shoes on, and was working in the kitchen among the cooks and bustling to and fro to make sure everything was going to be perfect for his expected guest.

"Must I?" Jarvis sighed, gathering his and Fay's things as they approached his personal coach.

"Yes, you must," Fay said, boarding the coach, waiting for Jarvis.

"But why? What did I do to deserve this?" Jarvis said, begging as if his life were on the line.

"You handed me the letter that contained this invitation," Fay said.

"Yes, but you opened it," Jarvis countered.

"Exactly, I wouldn't have opened it if you did not hand it to me. Feel lucky that I opened it and not you or else the blame would be entirely on you," Faylen said in a jokingly smug way.

"Yes, you are so kind Master Fay," Jarvis said sighing jokingly.

Even though Jarvis was a servant to Fay, they acted like best friends. In actuality though, Jarvis was more of a mentor than a servant or friend. Jarvis taught Fay everything; Literature, Math, Geography, Astrology, Theology and even Martial Arts. Fay was well educated because of Jarvis' teachings.

"The ride should only take a few moments, it's not far," Jarvis stated, loading their things before hopping onto the riders seat at the front. "I doubt you'll get far into your book before we arrive," Jarvis said jokingly as he whipped at the horse, edging it to go on.

Faylen couldn't help smirk, almost saying "That wont stop me," while doing so. For before Jarvis could even tell him, Fay had his nose in a book with no cover or text on the spine.

No more than a half hour passed before the coach pulled in front of the cabin that was the established meeting point. Jarvis said nothing as he found a nice place to tie a rope on the horses to.

"We're here already are we?" Fay sighed as he closed his book, placing it into his blue jacket. "Let's get on with it," he said whilst shaking his head. Jarvis opened the door, allowing Fay to step down from the coach. "No one here to meet us yet? Not of the highest class, is he?" Fay said jokingly to Jarvis under his breath as he stepped down onto the ground.

"Indeed," Jarvis said with a smug smile on his face.

Kyoshi was bustling around the kitchen and the rest of the house as a man ran up, “A carriage is coming Master Sabaku!” Kyoshi handed the plates to the man and quickly ran to the door, slipping on a pair of sandals before walking out the door. He saw as a large man helped a young man out of the carriage. Kyoshi knew that must be Faylen; he didn’t know who the large man was, but it didn’t matter too much. Before he could turn, he noticed that Raphael was there by his side and Kyoshi instantly calmed down. With Raphael there, Kyoshi knew he wouldn’t make too big a fool of himself. The local man would keep Kyoshi in check.
The two walked down the steps and Kyoshi smiled as he approached the carriage, bowing he said politely and calmly, “Welcome, you must be Sir Nostrius. I am Sabaku Kyoshi, and this is Raphael. Can we help you carry anything in?” Kyoshi wouldn’t leave all the carrying to the two servants. It just wasn’t in his nature, and no matter how un-noble it was of him, he would help carry some items in if any needed carrying. “I apologize for having you arrive to no welcoming, I was inside preparing the house for your coming.”

"Don't worry, we traveled lighter than usual," Jarvis answered to the bag carrying question.

"Indeed," Fay said, closing his book with no cover and placing it in his inner jacket pocket while Jarvis hopped off of the carriage head. The scruffy man moved towards the carriage door, opening it. "Thank you Jarvis," Fay said in the most sincere voice any stranger will ever hear from his voice as he stepped out from the carriage.

"It was a long trip, but I have no doubt it will be worth it Master Sabaku," Jarvis said, closing the door behind Fay.

"Yes, it should be more enjoyable than that silly ball at least," Fay said scornfully, still upset about being forced to attend such an ordeal the other day.

"My apologies master Sabaku, Fay is still rather sore from the ride here. May we be lead in?" he asked, standing next to Fay, who was doing everything he could to make this visit miserable for Jarvis. But it was all fun and games, he meant no real harm by it. It was simply a way to push Jarvis' buttons in a teasing manner. He knew Jarvis would apologize for any offense he may make and make the situation better.

“I was surprised that the noble Fay was such a young man. An adult by all standards of this time, but still a young man, he was too young to be bearing the responsibilities of nobility. ‘Mister Nostrius, Jarvis, please follow me. I’ve been helping the cooks all day for your visit; we’ve prepared a delicious meal for you.’ I turned to lead the two men in the house; Raphael had already entered to make sure everything was ready and the final touches were all in place.

As I walked, I looked the two over; they were like night and day. Fay was smaller and frailer, while Jarvis seemed to be a seasoned veteran and knew his way around a battle. He seemed to be a true man, able to gain the respect of a noble of one of the most prestigious families yet not be noble himself; it spoke much of his character. ‘So Master Nostrius, why did you not enjoy the ball? I found the dancing quite entertaining, if the other nobles a little naïve.’ I led the noble and his servant inside, where Raphael asked for their jackets. ‘Now good sirs, shall we sit for food? You two must be famished from the trip.’”

Fay
Fay scoffed at the question, causing Jarvis' eyes to bulge ever so slightly. After patting at his lips with a cloth well kept in his pocket, Fay remarked, "It's simply ludicrous."

"Master Fay," Jarvis replied. Fay shot a glance at Jarvis. The look on Jarvis' face could only state that he had no room to speak. Fay was in one of those moods. There was nothing that he could do.

"All these balls are good for is attracting middle class women who hope to get themselves knocked up by a noble to earn them a place in nobility, especially if they are fortunate enough to harvest a male," Fay said. He didn't enjoy these type of events as it seemed to attract the wrong type of crowd. "They claim that only nobles are permitted to enter, but we all know that these middle class hussies have enough pull to get an invite," Fay finished, continuing on into the house of Sabaku.

"But don't mind my ramblings, I simply don't enjoy entrapments such as those. I hope you at least managed to enjoy yourself though," Fay muttered.
