Kyoshi felt pity for the boy, the horror of the first killing was always a terrible thing, even more so when it wasn’t wanted. He admired the boy’s strength however; the ability for him to stand and function, even when in trauma was admirable. When Zera turned to leave, Kyoshi looked down at Nostus and smiled reassuringly and followed the boy. As they walked out, Kyoshi place a hand on Zera’s shoulder, “It will be alright young one. You didn’t mean to do that. It was an accident.” The trio walked a little farther, sitting in silence. Kyoshi knew he couldn’t make the boy feel better now, only time could truly heal him. The man would be there for the boy though, as often and as much as he needed. The trio walked out of the city, the guards said nothing as the three left, as if they were in shock over the heaviness that seemed to permeate from Zera, weighing everyone nearby down. Kyoshi seemed to be the only one unaffected by it. He was somber, but was not weighed down; his step was still light, and he still had a calming aura around him. When the trio was outside of the city limits, Kyoshi stopped the two boys. “Zera, are you okay? I know what the feelings inside you are like. I’ve experienced them. Everyone does, I want you to remember this feeling so you do not become a killer. Remember the pain, and remember that life is valuable. We must seek to preserve it all. Also remember, this is what makes you human, and what makes you great, your pain shows caring, empathy, and humanity, and that is what is needed in a leader.” Kyo smiled at the boy, and placed his hand on his shoulder, “Now chin up, we have a bright future even if today has been sullied and marked by evil.” |
