I was wondering when looking over the list of materials why someone would even consider taking a material like Tin or Copper? It's not just those two, but if we only go over the Metals then Tin, Copper, Bronze and Iron are pretty sucky when compared to Steel. Let's compare Steel and Tin shall we?
Here we see that Steel is just as light, has greater Durability and you can fit an enchantment on it. The only downside to it is that it costs 13 more Minae. But looking at the rules for grading, all I would have to do is to make a 1000 word job thread of decent quality to get me a Grade of 1. That would result in 50 Minae which is more than enough to afford Steel. As for Woods the same goes for Liu and Maple as Yew is just simply better than they are and why would someone take Cotton when there's Silk? Also the only worthwhile Rock is Diamond, Granite and Crystal just aren't worth it when compared to the Metals. I don't mean to sound like a dick but if I do I apologize, I do think though that you may need to revise the materials, at the very least change the cost. Like changing the cost of manufacturing them to (Level of the item)*(Material's original value)*10 or something like that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, is Agility no longer used as a limiter on Speed when attacking and vice versa when dodging? I can't see any mention of it any more in the rules for combat. |

I see where you are getting at and I agree mostly except for one thing that you got wrong. Each level costs 150 mina. so a level 1 steel weapon will cost 173 mina which would take 1730 words assuming a grade of 2. So now that is cleared up the part I agree with: there needs to be a more distinguishing factor in the price of an item because having a diffence of 13 mina to get an item that is obviously superior is not right. I think Nova's suggestion will work fine along with maybe more Enchantment slots for cloth to allow for more pure mages, but I know the Boss is trying to stear clear of equations so whatever is fine. Counter Argument; becuase everything requires material. Have a thread where you get the material and a thread where you make the weapon yourself that makes for allot more money and time to get the item. say Tin is a level 1 material which will take 150 mina per unit of ore to get compared to Steel which lets say is a level 3 material which takes 450 mina per unit of ore to gather. not to mention the skill to craft/gather the items So more I think of it I think what my counter arugment is is actually what Fay is talking about...may I suggest we have more details on teh crafting system before we say anything else about the cost of items and such --------------------------- As for the second question I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today Edited by Sarge, May 22 2010, 11:26 PM.

For a simple weapon, yes, there isn't much difference in price. But let's say you were building a fortress that required 40 material pieces. It adds up over time.

Ah, so for weapons and armor it's pretty much a given what material should be used but with large scale creations you'd need to compromise, I see. There's still the question about Speed remaining though. |

Agility is utilized for Marksmanship and Projectiles now. I took away the limiter as it became very complex with Stamina already limiting you on what you can do a post. Before Agility was always used like that for Speed to keep people from whoring the Speed stat, but now that there is already something in place for that, it's cool to be without. However, many techniques can still be made based around attacking with Agility with Swords, etc. |

| A question i've been pondering over is how materials are going to work for Building Cities and fortresses. You alluded there with 40 units or so for a fortress. Can you elaborate a bit bossman? |
