He laughed despite himself and turned away before getting hit in the head with his own cloak. "Doofh!" He exclaimed, nearly falling flat on his face. He got up and turned to her. She looked so much happier now. He smiled and leaned back against the box of supplies just as she began to ask about him. He frowned. He didn't like talking about himself. "I"m not important." He said with a frown, looking away. "The sword was a gift." He said turning to go through the supplies again to get his mind off of it. His father was a nobleman, he'd never it say it out loud. He hated the man more than any person on Aria. His mother was a hopeless and weak woman who had died in childbirth. He had paid her for a nights experience. He despised women like that. He gritted his teeth.

"I'm going to become strong." He said after a long pause. "I'm going to become strong, and crush the three kingdoms beneath my heel, and I'm going to give the branded a new lease on life..." He said, rubbing the tears from his eyes as he kept his back to her. He turned to her and smiled, though there was still a fierceness in his eyes.

Zamia was surprised as Zera turned away from her and avoided the conversation. Apparently he wasn't overly fond of the answers to any of her questions. This was the first time she'd seen Zera so.....down. He perked back up though right before telling her what he wanted to do. After he did she just stared at him. Was he serious? There was NO ONE that powerful in Aria, let alone a boy that strong. “Then you've got you're work cut out for you “She told him, ignoring the odds of his plan actually working.....in fact..." Can I come with you? The noble I told you about...Fay.....he's nuts. Totally sheltered and kind of unstable." she told him. The guy had saved her life but he also scared the hell out of her. He wasn't interested in peasants he was interested in why peasants were poor and sick. Far as he was concerned with her she was only interesting because she was so pathetic.

She'd wanted to leave since her fever broke but she hadn't been able to.....As she considered this her mind turned back to Zera. He'd figured out she was a branded so easily.....to easily. If Fay or any other Arian learned of what she was then she was screwed. She realized now what she'd done wrong, at the time she'd done it she'd been to out of it to realize to identical sets of scar marks in the spots brands were likely to be put were too obvious......She was going to have to fix that...and it wasn't going to be pleasant. She looked to Zera again and then at the bottle of ointment in his hands. "Exactly how strong’s that stuff?” she asked him making up her mind as her fingers wrapped around the hilt of her glass knife.

He blinked. "Come with me? I..." He was surprised despite himself. He hadn't anticipated this, he had only expressed his dream, a dream that from time to time he'd never thought he'd achieve. This girl, maybe she believed in him, he doubted it personally. Something in him wanted to believe she did though. He took a breath and regained his composure. "Of course you can... I'd actually like that very much." He said smliling and getting to his feet. When she questioned him about the strength of the bottles contents he turned to her. "Its rather strong, most cuts will seal up immediately." He said. "Though the scar tissue will remain of course." He shrugged. "But its good for emergencies." He said, placing it on top of the box. "Why do you ask? Do you know anyone else who's hurt?"

Another question slipped into his mind. Was she his henchman now or something? He entertained the thought for a moment before banishing it.

Zamia was relieved as Zera said she could come with him. She didn't know how long she'd last handing around Fay but she didn't want to test his boundaries. Besides, the creep was probably wondering where she was about now and she didn't intend to go back after what she was about to do, it'd only make him even more suspicious. “No, but I’m about to be" she said as she pulled the knife from the band she'd tucked it into around her leg. It was a simple knife; just a shard of pointed glass with some cloth wrapped around the duller end and the tip was coated in dried blood. Her blood. “You figured it out to easy, and if you can so can others, I need the scars to be more convincing. Right now anyone who's looking for branded will notice I have to spots all scarred up in the same spots brands go but the rest of my arms fine."

She sighed before going on. “I need to make some more cuts to my arm. A lot more. I need it to be convincing enough I can say something like I was dragged or I fell." She told him before looking him in the eye with determination .If I do this I can move around without being picked out for a branded, I should be ok. “She told him as she set the tip of knife on her right arm.”And I’m doing this whether you give me the medicine or not. It needs to be done before I get found by a smart hunter or noble." She told him before dragging the blade across her flesh. Her skin split like paper and she bit her lip slightly but showed no real sense of pain from the injury as crimson blood began to swell and drip down her arm.

Taking a deep breath she held the knife back at her arm before looking down and nearly smacking herself. Quickly she got out of the tent, carefully trying to avoid soaking the sleeping bag with blood. Once again the knife was against her arm and then she made the cut. Then another, and another, another, just one more, then another. Blood flowed free from her arm and she cut at least a dozen times until she could no longer take the pain and screamed before throwing the knife on the ground, staring hatefully at the bloodstained object before grabbing the bandages and looking to Zera. "What'll it be?"

It took a moment for Zera to completely process what was happening. Before he could say a word he watched in horror as she tore up her arm. For a moment fury rose in his chest, he wanted to swat the knife from her hand, shatter it and toss it away, then lecture her on what an idiot she was. He bit his lip, restraining himself. Something inside him told him to stand and watch, not to turn his head, not for an instant. So he stood and watched his new friend mutilate herself in front of his very eyes. He told himself it was a means to an end. She would be safe this way, her wounds weren't suspicious anymore. He took a breath and approached her after she turned to him.

Dropping to his knees in silence, his eyes filled with a mixture of pain and softness he gently began to staunch the bleeding, slowing it down a bit. Then he took one delicate hand at a time. Slowly applying liberal amounts of the ointment to her arm. He rubbed it in slowly, making sure not to tear the tissue any more than it was. The skin quickly began to seal up. He took his cloak from his shoulders and found the cleanest piece of it he could, there he began to wipe the blood from her arm to examine the scars properly. She had done a good job, no one would notice the suspicious scar on her hand now.

He then turned to the weapon and wrapped it in his cloak, and then looked her square in the eyes. "Don't ever do something like this to yourself again..." He said in a firm, yet caring tone. "...I don't have any more ointment after all." He said with a smirk, gently squeezing both her hands and nodding to the empty bottle.

Zamia began to sway as Zera tended to her arm, pouring liberal amounts of the healing aid on her arm until it no longer hurt. He berated her and she laughed still swaying slightly. She was giddy from the ointment's curative ability and her own blood loss and she pulled her hands away from him, giggling a bit as she did. “Sorry.” She said looking down at her arm to inspect the damage she'd wrought on herself. The scars didn't look too bad but they were enough to convince anyone that something had happened to her entire arm rather then just the spots she was branded. If anyone asked she'd just say she fell through a window or that somebody threw a busted bottle at her.

Perfect. She stood slowly and stretched, feeling better then she’d felt in days. “ I don’t think you’ll need to worry about that” She said as she walked over to his cloak and picked up the bloodstained knife, rubbing it dry in the grass before putting it back in the strap on her leg. “That hurt like hell.” She said finally sobering up and rubbing at the newly scarred skin on her arm. The injuries didn’t hurt but they itched a bit. She looked at the tent and noticed exactly how much blood she’d lost before staring wide eyed at the trail that led from the tent to the spot she’d settled in after cutting herself.

“Um….we should probably get out of here……before someone with a lot of unanswerable questions comes by. “ ‘Like Fay’ she added to herself silently. She wouldn’t doubt the eccentric noble coming after her or at least sending someone out to look for her. If he saw the new scars she had he’d probably figure out exactly how she’d got them and why…….then again, he might not. Both sets of scars looked perfectly healed, something they hadn’t been this morning. He might just assume that she’d had more then he’d realized…..but she wasn’t going to take any chances on that. She’d prefer not to see the noble again.

He stood, rubbing his shoulder slightly and watching her carefully. "You shouldn't be walking all that much... the ointment will heal the wound, but you've still lost a lot of blood." He said, rubbing the bridge of his nose and walking over to her. He wrapped his cloak around himself carefully, it smelt sickly like blood, he grunted and tossed it next to his sleeping bag, he'd take care of that later. He slipped up beside her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Seriously... Zamia... you're going to collapse, sit down a minute." He said.

He'd have to take her into town, there was no question about it. He was concerned though. He'd have to hide her from Devaal. At the very least though she could recover. He wouldn't allow anyone who worked with him to suffer. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a trail bar. It was bitter and tough but it would do the job. "Here, eat this, its all I got but it will help build up some blood." He said.

His eyes, full of concern, but also a firmness. She was way too erratic, she needed to calm down a bit, think a bit more sensibly. There were other ways to hide those scars than just making more. The sweat on his brow dripped, it was almost two in the afternoon, it was bloody hot, and wearing his leather armor was even worse.

Zamia opened her mouth to deny what Zera said and tell him she was alright but as she did she realize she was starving and a little shaky. Without a word she snatched the bar and shoveled it down. Despite living with a noble for a week years of devouring trash made the eating the bar easy. "See? Fine" She said, waving her arms out to her side and spinning as she did so. She did feel fine, she felt great, better then she had in days. She spun again, feeling a bit light headed and lost her balance as she did and stumbled forward. She put up her hands to grab at something but grasped at empty air before falling against a low branch and catching her dress before stumbling backwards.

As she went back her dress began to tear and as she twisted around and fell against Zera the fabric tore away completely. She knocked into Zera and sent them both tumbling to the ground, him landing on his back and her landing on his chest eye to eye with him. She shook her head a bit as a feeling of lightheadedness overcame her before looking Zera in the face. She stared into his eyes before noticing that she was completely naked. Her face turned just a bit darker as she blushed and scrambled off of the boy, grabbing the remains of her dress before scampering into the tent and holding the cloth over her." Umm.....sitting.....right......sittings good." She said awkwardly as she sat in the tent.

Zera blinked, he didn't know exactly what to do in this situation. The gaze the two shared felt like it lasted moments, but it was only for an instant. A deep blush spread over his face as she scampered off of him, Inadvertently receiving a full show. He covered his eyes and turned away taking a few breaths. He heard her wrapping cloth around herself and scrambling into the tent. Scratching the back of his head nervously he opened his eyes and got to his feet. He stepped over to the tent and took off his own shirt, it was long, like most tunics were. He tossed it in onto her lap. "H-here..." He stammered, rubbing under his nose.

He walked over to the firepit and got it started up. His flint was already wearing down. He'd have to steal a new one. He looked to the left, still blushing. "I... I"ll get you some new clothes when we get into town." He said, his tanned skin glistening in the evening sun. Damn it was hot outside. He scratched his blonde head and reached for a few sticks and a pot to boil water in. He didn't have a lot of water left but at least he had enough to cook some soup.

"Is soup ok with you?" He asked, smiling warmly as he turned to face the tent. "If not I can cook some meat." He said. This girl was interesting, very interesting. He had a feeling she would have a profound effect on his life. Something about her felt different than other girls his age. Something about her threw him off. She was difficult to read, and it intrigued him. She intrigued him. He wanted to get to know her better... well... after she found some clothes of course.

"After some food." He began. "Lets head into town."

Zamia watched as Zera blushed and threw his shirt at her which landed a few inches to her left. She didn't find the blush as amusing as before and it only caused her own face to darken a bit more as blood rushed to her head. Ignoring the Shirt Zamia closed the tents flaps and pulled her knife out of the strap on her leg. The dress was un-wearable but it'd gone down to her ankles and she had plenty of material to work with. She slowly traced the tip of the sharpened glass along a section of the fabric until she had a large circular cut before holding it up and making another cut. She crouched and wiggled into the skirt to see if she'd gotten it right. I t fell to her knees which was fine, but it wouldn't stay up on its own. Quickly she cut two niches in the side near her waist and tore a strip of fabric off, putting it through the holes and wrapping it around before tying it off.

'That ought to do it' she thought, sitting back down and picking up what remained of the cloth. She tore another strip, about an inch think and wrapped it over her chest before tying it and slipping the knot to her back. She then cut another circle out of the cloth and made a large hole in the center with two smaller ones a few inches away. When she was done she slipped it over her head. The shirt only fell midriff to just above her navel and didn't have any sleeves but it was more then she was used to. Dressed again she opened the tent flap and stepped out, threw Zera his shirt back “Don’t worry about it" she told him as he offered to buy her new clothes. In her opinion the outfit she'd just made was better then the original. It was definitely a lot more practical.

As he mentioned food again her stomach grumbled. She'd only eaten a few hours ago but apparently injuring herself also made her hungry and the bar Zera'd given her before hadn't done much to fill her up. "Soup is good" she said agreeably. Not that she knew what soup was. There wasn't much free water in Nowhere and none of it went towards cooking food. However there wasn't much to eat in general there either. She learned early on before she even ended up a branded 'if you're offered food, take it'. As a result she wasn't a very picky eater. "OK" she said simply as he suggested they go to town after eating. This'd probably be the first time she'd ever been to a town where people didn't automatically turn there heads at her. Maybe it'd be a little interesting. She sat and stared at the fire as she waited for the soup to boil.
