Hope to hear from ya soon ![]() ![]() Spoiler: click to toggle Once upon a time, the land of Olympia was an extravagant, marvelous place. Kingdoms were united and, together, worked hard to better the world. Governed by the Gods of Mt. Olympus, the land was at peace. Everyone was happy. Overtime, however, all of this changed. Kingdoms began developing at their own pace, and faith in their Gods slowly began to fade away. The Gods began to fight each other, causing many to leave Mt. Olympus, and live the life of humans. Years later, the world has fallen into despair. With most of the Gods missing, Olympus began to die. And now, a new evil has threatened to plague the land. All seemed to be The story takes place years later, after a period of time known as the Era of the Lost Kingdoms. When the young Prince of Nero, Merrick, suffers a great lost, a mysterious figure entrusts him with the task of reuniting the kingdoms. Merrick accepts, and will stop at nothing to fulfill his task. Prologue: (Spoiler Beware) Spoiler: click to toggle Scene: As a series of pictures are displayed, a narration is heard, telling the history of Olympia and its gods. Narrator: In the beginning, there was only Chaos. This yawning void of nothingness then created Gaia, and all the other primordial deities. Without any male assistance, Gaia gave birth to Uranus, who then fertilized her, creating the Titans. At a later time, Cronus; the wily, youngest, and most terrible of the Titans, created us gods. After a long and troublesome bout with Cronus, Zeus proclaimed himself as ruler of the universe, with the rest of the gods as his counsel, the Titans imprisoned in the abyss, and me as his wife. (At this moment, it shows Hera, revealed to be the narrator, atop Mt. Olympus, in present-day Olympia. It slowly zooms out, showing the rest of Mt. Olympus.) Hera: But things have changed drastically. Most of the gods have left Mt. Olympus. The few of us who have stayed cannot protect Olympia alone. And, unfortunately, an evil is approaching... Scene: As credits are shown, the opening begins to play, showing the lands of Olympia. Chapter I: False Hope (Spoiler Beware) Spoiler: click to toggle [size0]Chapter I: False Hope [size0]-Nereus Castle- [size0]The Kingdom of Nero Scene: The story opens outside of Nereus Castle, in the Kingdom of Nero. Merrick, prince of Nero, is at the graves of his parents. He bows to the graves. Merrick: Mother…father…soon…it’ll all be over… (Merrick rises to his feet and walks over to the edge of the cliff. As he is walking, he begins thinking of his life.) Merrick: …What’s the point, Merrick…? What do you have to live for…? The “prodigious” prince of Nero…Your mother said you had potential… Your father said you would make a fine ruler one day… Heh… How could I rule anything…? I couldn’t even protect my own parents… (Merrick makes it to the edge of the cliff. He stops and looks down at the water.) Merrick: …There is no point… Nero is better off without me… Olympia is better off without me… Mother…father…I’ll be with both of you very soon… (Merrick prepares to jump, but is stopped by a mysterious man.) Mysterious Man: Hahahahaha! What a fool… Merrick: Who’s there!? (The mysterious man begins to walk out of the shadows.) Mysterious Man: Do you really think killing yourself will solve anything? Merrick: Who are you!? Mysterious Man: My name is of no concern to you. Just call me…the man who killed your parents. (Merrick’s eyes widen. His face turning vicious, he begins to enter a murderous rage.) Merrick: You…YOU BASTARD!!! (Merrick draws his sword and charges at the mysterious man. Merrick enters battle with the mysterious man. In this battle, Merrick loses miserably. Upon losing, the battle shifts to a scene where Merrick is shown falling to the ground in defeat.) Merrick: Dammit… Mysterious Man: You cannot hope to defeat ME, you fool! Not as you are… Merrick: I’m not through with you… (Merrick struggles to get to his feet, only to fall back down.) Mysterious Man: …Merrick…one day, I will allow you your revenge... But first, you must gather a party of great warriors and unite all kingdoms under one banner. Only then will you be able to avenge your parents… (The mysterious man turns and begins to walk away. After a few steps, he stops and turns to Merrick.) Mysterious Man: And Merrick…from the kings of Olympia to the gods themselves…do not let anyone get in your way. This land WILL be united… (The mysterious man disappears into the shadows. Merrick faints. Before waking abruptly, Merrick hears the last thing the mysterious man said to him.) Merrick: Ah! (Merrick, awake, looks around him. He walks over to the edge of the cliff, looks out to sea, and then walks away. The scene shifts over to him walking from the castle. The scene fades out.) [size0]-Port of Nero- [size0]The Kingdom of Nero Scene: The scene fades in to show Merrick getting on a ship at the port of Nero. He then leaves the kingdom.) [size0]-The Olympian Sea- [size0]Olympia Scene: Merrick is traveling by sea, while a song is playing. When the song ends, Merrick sees a tremendous storm approaching. Not knowing what to do, he runs into the ship. The storm hits, and the ship is destroyed.) [size0]-Gulf of Elafros- [size0]The Kingdom of Elafros Scene: Merrick is shown, appearing to have been washed up on the shores of the Kingdom of Elafros. Girl: Are you alright!? (Merrick awakens to see a beautiful girl standing over him.) Merrick: Ugh… W…what happened? Girl: I should be asking YOU that! You just showed up here! Were you shipwrecked!? (Merrick attempts to rise to his feet, but struggles, and falls to his knees.) Merrick: Ah! Girl: You shouldn’t strain yourself! You must have been through a lot! Here, let me help you… (The girl uses a healing spell on Merrick. Merrick gets to his feet and looks at himself with wonder.) Merrick: H…how did you…? Girl: It’s a healing spell. One of my specialties. Merrick: Well…thanks…uh…? Angel: Angel. My name is Angel Luminita. Merrick: I’m Merrick. Merrick Nereus. Angel: Nice to have your acquaintance, Merrick. So…where did you come from? (The scene fades out with Merrick talking to Angel, supposedly informing Angel about his situation. Then, the scene fades back in.) Angel: What!? You’re the prince of Nero!? Merrick: Y…yes, I am. But I put all that behind me. Right now, I want nothing more than to avenge my parents and unite Olympia. (There is a pause.) Angel: …I…I want to go with you! (Merrick thinks about her request.) Merrick: Well, your healing powers could certainly serve useful. But are you sure you want to put yourself in such danger? (There is a pause. Then, Angel creates a soft smile and looks out to sea.) Angel: My mother died giving birth to me. My father left without a word. I was raised as an orphan and taken in by the clergy. I was to become a priestess. But all I really want is to be free. Free to find my true purpose in life… (Angel looks back over to Merrick.) Angel: Merrick, I don’t care what might happen along the way. I have no purpose on this island. Please take me with you– High Priestess: By the gods you’re not! (A woman appears on the gulf.) Merrick: And who are you to decide? High Priestess: Hold your tongue, boy! I am the High Priestess of this kingdom, as well as this child’s guardian. And she will, by no means, go with you for anything. Angel: But… High Priestess: Come along, Angel. (The High Priestess walks off. Before following, Angel turns to Merrick.) Angel: Merrick…I live at the chapel… High Priestess: Angel! You WILL obey me! Angel: Y-yes milady! (Angel runs off. Merrick is now free to roam the Kingdom of Elafros, until he reaches the chapel.) [size0]-Artemis Chapel- [size0]The Kingdom of Elafros Scene: Once Merrick reaches the chapel, he is greeted by Angel. Angel: Merrick, you’ve come! (Angel cautiously looks around her, and then takes Merrick into a hallway.) Angel: Actually, I wanted to show you something. It’s in the library. Follow me. (Angel walks off and Merrick follows. The screen fades out. When it fades back in, they are in the library. Angel is looking through the bookshelves.) Angel: When I was just a little girl, I used to read all these books. It was the only thing that gave me comfort as an orphan. And I remember a certain book. It tells of the history of this kingdom. (Angel pulls out a book and begins to look through it.) Angel: If I remember correctly, it also tells of a secret route out of the kingdom… A-ha! Here it is! (Angel mumbles.) Angel: “…Make a wish in the shadow of the day. The child of light shall lead the way.” Hm… Merrick: “The shadow of the day…” That must mean nighttime… High Priestess: Angel! (With the High Priestess calling for Angel, she gets startled. She quickly pulls Merrick over and hides behind a bookshelf.) High Priestess: Angel? Where is that blasted child…? Angel: Merrick, I have to go. I’ll meet you at the gulf at ten o’clock tonight. If you’re right, we may be able to find the secret route. (Suddenly, the door opens. Angel pops out from behind the bookshelf.) High Priestess: There you are! Angel: H-hello, milady! High Priestess: …And just who were you talking to? (Angel is surprised.) Angel: M-me? No one! I was talking to no one! High Priestess: Then why was I hearing voices? Angel: Oh, that? I-I was…just reading a book! Yeah, and I was reading out loud... (There is a pause.) High Priestess: …Very well. Angel, I’ve summoned you because our guests have arrived. So, let’s be on our way. Angel: Yes, milady! (The High Priestess leaves the library. Angel begins to follow, stops to look at the area Merrick is hiding, and finally leaves the library as well. The door closes, and Merrick is now free to roam the chapel. Except, however, for the alter, which is where the meeting is being held.) [size0]-Kingdom of Elafros- [size0]Olympia Scene: Upon leaving the chapel, Merrick thinks of what Angel told him. Merrick: Meet her at the gulf… (Merrick looks at the sunset. Then, he walks away.) [size0]-Gulf of Elafros- [size0]The Kingdom of Elafros Scene: A few hours later, Merrick is shown at the gulf, looking out to sea. Merrick: Angel…just who are you…? (There is a flashback of the scene where Angel heals Merrick. Then, the scene shifts back to present time.) Merrick: People shouldn’t be able to do that… Angel: Do what? (Merrick turns around to see Angel.) Merrick: Oh…nothing… Just thinking out loud… Angel: Well, we should hurry. I snuck out of the chapel. It’s only a matter of time before the high priestess finds out I’m missing. (Merrick nods.) Merrick: You’re right. Angel: Let’s see…”Make a wish in the shadow of the day. The child of light shall lead the way…” Well, we know “the shadow of the day” means nighttime. But, what about the rest of it? Merrick: Hm…I guess we’ll just have to look around. Angel: I suppose. Maybe we’ll find some clues… *Angel joins your party* (After joining the party, they are free to search through town for an answer to the riddle. Once they reach Holy Well, they make a discovery.) Angel: Merrick, wait! “Make a wish…” Merrick: The well… (They both nod to each other, and then enter the well.) [size0]-Holy Well- [size0]The Kingdom of Elafros Scene: Merrick and Angel are now inside of Holy Well. When they head through a door, they see that the well is a labyrinth. Merrick: Damn! A labyrinth… (There is a pause. Suddenly, Angel walks over to one of the many doors.) Angel: This way! Merrick: But…how do you…? Angel: I don’t know. I just…have a hunch. (Merrick cracks a smile.) Merrick: “The child of light shall lead the way…” I knew you were different… Alright, lead the way. (The party is in the next room of the labyrinth. Angel scans the room, and then points to one of the many doors.) Angel: That way. (As she begins to walk toward the door, a Minotaur crashes down in front of her.) Merrick: Angel! (Merrick runs over to Angel, and the party enters a mini-boss fight with the Minotaur. They defeat it.) Merrick: Angel, are you all right? Angel: I…I’m fine. Let’s keep moving. Merrick: Right. (The party heads through the door. They proceed through the rest of the labyrinth, until they get to the end, where they see a single door, decorated by a laurel wreath. Merrick examines it.) Merrick: There doesn’t seem to be any way of opening it. Angel: Wait…I think I know what to do… (Angel walks over to the door and stretches her hand out. She closes her eyes, and casts a spell.) Angel: Enshroud! (Suddenly, the wreath glows, disappears, and the door opens.) Merrick: What did you…? Angel: It’s an ancient spell. I read about it in a book when I was little. It reveals secrets. But, only the great god Apollo was said to have ever used it. I never thought I would be able to use it… Anyway, we should get going. (Angel goes through the door, and Merrick follows. Then, the door shuts abruptly.) Mysterious Voice: My my… How long it has been… (Angel is surprised.) Angel: I…I know that voice… Father? Mysterious Voice: How right you are, daughter. But I am more than your father. And you are more than my daughter. (Suddenly, a god-like presence appears before the party.) Apollo: I am Apollo – god of light. And you, my dear, are a demigod. Angel: I’m a…demigod? Apollo: Indeed. Half mortal, half god. That makes you a demigod. Angel: Then my healing ability…? Apollo: That you have inherited from me. (There is a pause.) Merrick: That’s all fine and good, but what brought you, a god, to this well? Apollo: I was waiting for you two. Angel: But…why? Apollo: I am aware of your purpose. Merrick…mixed feelings of vengeance and a need to unite Olympia under one banner have driven you on this journey. And you, Angel, want to find your true purpose. Merrick: But, how do you know all that? Apollo: I am the god of light, as well as the god of truth. No secret escapes me. I’m sure Angel knows that well enough. (Angel looks at her hands.) Apollo: There is only one way to satisfy your goal. You must gain the powers of the gods themselves. (Merrick and Angel are both surprised.) Angel: What? Apollo: One of the abilities a demigod possesses is the ability to absorb the power of their god-parent. However, they must first defeat them in battle... (Angel is surprised. Merrick draws his sword.) Merrick: Then I guess we have no choice, then. (Apollo begins to glow.) Apollo: It certainly seems that way. And don’t worry, I won’t show you mercy. (The party enters their first big boss battle. They win.) Apollo: Ugh! (Apollo falls to the ground. Angel runs over to him.) Angel: Father! Apollo: Do not worry, my child. You have bested me in combat, so there is a duty I must perform. Angel…give me your hand. (Angel puts Apollo’s hand in hers. Suddenly, Apollo begins to glow. Then, the glow fades from him to Angel.) Apollo: There. You now possess my former power. Angel: But, what will happen to you? Apollo: Without my power, I am but a mere mortal. Angel: But…that means… Apollo: Yes. I am not long for this world. Thus is the fate of a defeated god. But, before I go, I must perform one final task. Angel, one of the greatest abilities a demigod possesses is the ability to absorb the spirit of their god-parent. This will allow them to transform into that god. Now, it is time to release my spirit. Goodbye, Angel… Angel: …Father… (Apollo begins to glow, and then vanishes, leaving only his soul behind, which is represented by a glowing ball of light. The soul travels from where Apollo’s body was to Angel. When the soul reaches Angel, she glows.) *Angel has received the Transformation Summon, Apollo.* *You can now use the “Transform” command in battle.* Angel: Thank you…father… (The party walks to the end of the room, where the exit of the labyrinth resides. They walk through.) Chapter II: Wrath of the Desert King: (Spoiler Beware) Spoiler: click to toggle [size0]Chapter II: Wrath of the Desert King [size0]-Desert of a Thousand Sins- [size0]Olympia Scene: The party exits the labyrinth to find themselves in a land of desert known as the Desert of a Thousand Sins. Angel: A desert? Where are we? Merrick: Desert… I think the Kingdom of Brachos is in a desert… Angel: But…I don’t see any kingdoms. Merrick: I guess that means we’ll have to keep moving. Maybe we’ll find one... (The party heads further into the desert. Here, they find the remains of a building.) Angel: Is this…a castle? Merrick: Exactly where are we…? Angel: Ah! Merrick, hel— (Suddenly, Angel seems to have fallen into the sand.) Merrick: Angel! (Merrick begins to fall into the sand as well.) Merrick: Damn… (Merrick falls into the sand.) [size0]-Ancient Castle- [size0]Desert of a Thousand Sins Scene: Angel is on a pile of sand in a ruined building. Suddenly, Merrick falls on top of her. Angel: Ouch! Merrick: Sorry… (Merrick gets off of Angel. Angel gets up as well.) Angel: Now where are we…? (Merrick looks up, and then points to where he’s looking.) Merrick: Look. We must have fallen into some kind of ruins. (Merrick looks around.) Merrick: And by the looks of things, this must be a castle… Angel: What’s a castle doing underground? Merrick: Who knows? In any case, we’ve got to find our way out of here. Angel: Right. (The party is now free to scale the castle, searching for a way out. Once they reach the audience chamber, they notice a symbol on the castle floor.) Angel: Wait… Isn’t that…the symbol of Brachos? But, this couldn’t be the kingdom…could it? Merrick: There’s only one way to find out. Let’s keep looking. (The party heads further into the castle. Once they reach the highest point of the castle, they see a way out; windows at the highest tower of the castle.) Angel: Look! A way out! Merrick: Well, that wasn’t so ha— (The party hears a noise.) Merrick: Get down! (As the party drops to the ground, a giant sandworm swings its body through the tower, destroying it from right above them. Then, the sandworm goes into the tower, right in front of the party, and they enter a mini-boss battle with it. They defeat it.) Angel: Well THAT certainly was a surprise… (The party now has the freedom to look around the tower.) [size0]-Desert of a Thousand Sins- [size0]Olympia Scene: Once they leave the tower, the party has the freedom to travel through the desert, until they reach the gates to the Kingdom of Brachos, which are heavily guarded. Merrick: This must be the Kingdom of Brachos. Angel: But…weren’t we just at the kingdom? Brachosian Guard 1: Who goes there? (Surprised, the party looks up and sees that the kingdom’s walls are aligned with guards.) Merrick: Erm…it is I, Merrick of Nero! And this is Angel of Elafros! Brachosian Guard 2: Oh yeah? And just who is the other one? (The party looks behind them, and are surprised to see a man in a cloak standing behind them.) Brachosian Guard 2: Ha! Nice try! But you won’t be sneaking HIM in here on our watch! Merrick: What? But we don’t even know this guy! Brachosian Guard 1: Go home! Angel: Oh no… (Merrick is angry and the cloaked man runs off.) Merrick: You! (The party starts chasing after the cloaked man. On the next map, they stop for a little while.) Merrick: Quick! He’s heading for that cave! (The party now has the freedom to walk through the desert, heading toward the cave.) [size0]-The Cave of Wrath- [size0]Desert of a Thousand Sins Scene: Once the party enters the cave, they come across a certain area, which looks like a place where someone is living. Angel: What is this place? Does somebody live here? Cloaked Stranger: This is…my home… (Merrick and Angel turn around to see the cloaked stranger.) Merrick: There you are! (Merrick charges at the cloaked stranger, who merely dodges.) Angel: Merrick, stop! Merrick: What for!? Did you forget what happened!? That was our only chance into the kingdom, and this guy blew it for us! Cloaked Stranger: That…isn’t the only way… Merrick: What did you say!? Cloaked Stranger: Inside this cave, there is an underground passage, leading straight into the kingdom. Merrick: Seriously!? Angel: Wait… So, if this cave leads into the kingdom, then why did you try following us? Cloaked Stranger: Oh, I wasn’t following you. I was simply trying to lure you here. Angel: What? But…why? Cloaked Stranger: Well, you see, I’ve been trying to get to the end of the underground passage for years. The furthest I’ve gotten was halfway. I would fight my way through, little by little, but the monsters seem to respawn overnight. I thought that, by luring you two here, I could see if you were strong enough to help me to the end. Angel: But…couldn’t you have just asked? Baldal: Hm… I guess I just don’t think that far ahead… I’m Baldal, by the way. Baldal Azthen. Angel: Um… I’m Angel. Merrick: Merrick. Baldal: Nice to meet you two. (Baldal walks over to a cloth on the cave wall.) Baldal: This way. (Merrick and Angel walk over to Baldal, and Baldal pulls back the cloth, to reveal a path that descends into the depths of the cave. The scene ends.) *Baldal joins your party* (The party now has the freedom to explore, until they begin their descent.) Baldal: Hehe… I’m surprised you two haven’t asked me yet… Angel: Asked what? Baldal: Why I live in a cave. Merrick: Hm…that’s a good point… Why DO you live in a cave? (There is a pause.) Baldal: Well…it’s our king… Angel: The king? Baldal: A long time ago, we lost our former king, along with the entire royal family… Angel: What? That’s horrible… Baldal: Yes. And to make matters worse, my father, a man I despise, was chosen to take over…with me as the new prince… Merrick: Wait… So…you’re a prince? Baldal: I was…until I turned against my father… (Merrick and Angel look surprised.) Baldal: You see…the king had our whole kingdom fooled. But not me… Being closest to him, I discovered what he was truly plotting… (There is a pause.) Baldal: He wants to use our kingdom’s army…and destroy all the other kingdoms… (Merrick and Angel look surprised.) Angel: What!? Merrick: You can’t be serious! Baldal: Oh, but I am. My father has always had a lust for power. And what better way to show that power than to be the last kingdom left standing…? Merrick: But that’s…crazy! We can’t let him do it! I will not let him destroy MY kingdom! (Baldal is surprised.) Baldal: You mean…You are actually Prince Merrick? Merrick: Well…technically I’m a king now… Baldal: I see… Merrick: But let’s save MY story for another time… You were saying…? Baldal: …He has the entire kingdom fooled. He told them that the other kingdoms were plotting an attack on them. But I saw through his lies. So I confronted him… (There is a flashback to the time Baldal confronted his father.) Baldal: Father! What is the meaning of this!? Why must you lie to our kingdom like this!? King of Brachos: Lies? I merely twist the truth a bit. Baldal: You say that “the other kingdoms must be destroyed, for they are plotting an attack on us!” Where’s the truth in that!? King of Brachos: The truth…is that the kingdoms must be destroyed. Baldal: But why!? Why must we attack those who do us no harm!? King of Brachos: Silence! (Baldal is surprised.) King of Brachos: The other kingdoms are a threat! At the speed they’re all advancing at, it’s only a matter of time before we fall by their hands! And I swear, by my power as the King of Brachos, I will destroy them before that happens! (There is a silence.) Baldal: I…won’t let you… King of Brachos: Hm? What was that? (Baldal charges at the king.) Baldal: I WON’T LET YOU!!! King of Brachos: Guards, seize him! (Almost out of nowhere, two of the castle guards stop Baldal.) King of Brachos: Throw him out! He is no longer my son… Guard 1: Sir! King of Brachos: Let’s see how this traitor likes living his life in exile… Baldal: You bastard… (The flashback ends and the scene shifts back to present time.) Baldal: And so, I was banished from my own kingdom. Over the next few years, I settled myself in this cave. Meanwhile, the king set up guards on the castle wall, hoping to keep me out, along with any other suspicious characters. A few years later, I found this passage, and I’ve been trying to reach the end of it all this time. Merrick: Then I guess it’s a good thing WE came along, isn’t it…? Come on, there’s no time to waste… (The scene fades out.) [size0]-The Secret Passage- [size0]The Cave of Wraith Scene: The party is at the entrance of the secret passage. They now have the freedom to explore the passage, fighting monsters until they reach the end, where they see a door. Angel: There! That must be the exit! (As the party heads towards the door, a treacherous Manticore drops from above.) Baldal: Well, this guy doesn’t look friendly. (The Manticore screams and the party enters a mini-boss fight with it. They defeat it.) Baldal: Well, that sure was fun… (The party observes the door in front of them. Merrick is confused.) Merrick: What are these things engraved on the door here…? Angel: It looks like a spear and a shield… (Baldal is surprised.) Baldal: A spear and a shield? I see… Merrick: See what? Baldal: The spear and shield is a symbol of war in this kingdom. (Merrick walks to the door and tries to open it. It won’t open.) Merrick: Well it looks like the spear and shield needs a key or something. Otherwise, we’re stuck. Angel: What? But we’ve come so far… Baldal: Wait a minute… (Baldal has a flashback. Again, it is at the time of his banishment.) Baldal: I…won’t let you… King of Brachos: What was that? (Baldal charges at the king.) Baldal: I WON’T LET YOU!!! King of Brachos: Guards, seize him! (Almost out of nowhere, two of the castle guards stop Baldal.) King of Brachos: Throw him out! He is no longer my son… Guard 1: Sir! King of Brachos: Let’s see how this traitor likes living his life in exile… Baldal: You bastard… King of Brachos: You will never be worthy enough to be a true god of war… (The flashback ends.) Baldal: Hm… What did he mean by that… (Baldal is surprised as he gets an idea.) Baldal: Wait… Could it be…? (Merrick stops trying to open the door and turns around toward Baldal.) Merrick: Hey, Baldal! You wouldn’t happen to have any ideas, would you? Baldal: Maybe… (Baldal walks up to the door. As he touches it, it begins to glow, and then open.) Baldal: So it is true… Merrick: Oh yeah? And what is “it”? Baldal: I don’t believe my father is my true father at all. The only one who should be able to unlock the symbol of the spear and shield is the god of war himself, Ares. And I know I am not him. This only leaves one possibility. Ares is my true father. (Merrick and Angel are surprised.) Angel: Then that means…you are a demigod as well… Baldal: “As well”? Angel: I am the daughter of the god of light, Apollo. Before he left this world, he explained to me that we demigods have the potential to do things that their god-parent can do. Baldal: I see… That would explain why the door reacted to me… Merrick: Awesome! With two demigods on our team, this king is going down! Come on, guys! (Merrick walks through the door.) Baldal: He’s right. Let’s proceed. (Baldal and Angel walk through the door.) [size0]-Brachos Castle- [size0]The Kingdom of Brachos Scene: The party exits the secret passage to find themselves in the dungeon of Brachos Castle. Baldal looks around. Baldal: Hm…I see… Not only does that secret passage lead straight into the kingdom, but it also leads directly into the castle itself… Angel: You mean…this is the castle? Merrick: Great! Now what…? (Baldal turns around to look at where the party just came from, as does Angel and Merrick. It now only looks like the rest of the dungeon wall, but with the emblem of the spear and shield engraved in it.) Baldal: I never noticed this symbol before… (Surprised about something, Merrick turns around.) Guard 1: Who goes there!? Merrick: Uh…guys? We’ve got company… Guard 2: By the laws of our king, any and all prisoners who make any attempt to escape shall be brought to justice! Baldal: Oh yeah? Well, bring us to justice, then! (The party enters a normal battle against Brachos Guards. The party is victorious.) Baldal: You can give us all your guards! They’ll all just end up like these two! Random Prisoner: You tell him! Baldal: Let’s go. The sooner we get to the king, the sooner this land will be saved. That bastard will fall! (The party begins to scale Brachos Castle, fighting guards, left and right, until they reach the king.) Merrick: Hey guys! I think this is the place! King of Brachos: What!? Intruders! Guards! Baldal: Call all you want. No one will hear you. King of Brachos: So it’s you… Baldal: I’ve been waiting for this moment for the longest time! As the son of Ares, I will destroy you! (There is a pause, and the music playing stops.) King of Brachos: Ha…hahaha…hahahahaha! Baldal: Something funny? King of Brachos: That’s right…I never did tell you my name, did I? Baldal: …No…you never have… But what does that have to do with anything? King of Brachos: Everything. You see, my name…is Ares. Baldal: What!? Ares: Yes. I am the god of war; bringer of bloodshed. I am responsible for much of the destruction you see. Of course…my favorite piece of work would have to be when I took down old Brachos… (Merrick and Angel are surprised.) Merrick: Old Brachos? So that underground castle we saw…that was your doing!? Ares: So you saw it, did you? Is it still as ruined as I remember? Baldal: Enough! (Agitated by Ares’ arrogant boasting, Baldal grabs his axe from his back.) Baldal: This ends now! Ares: Eager to die, are we? Very well… (Ares raises his hand, in which appears a ???.) Ares: Have it your way! (The party enters a big boss battle with Ares. They win.) Ares: Gah! (Ares, defeated, falls to his knees.) Ares: Dammit! How…could I lose…to a bunch of mortals…? Baldal: Drunk with pride, you fail to see what’s right before you. And it’s that same vanity that has caused your own downfall… Ares: What the hell are you blabbering about!? Baldal: You told me yourself that you are Ares, father. That means that I am part god. And that also means that I have the ability to finish you off. Farewell… (Baldal raises his axe to finish Ares off.) Ares: Wait! Please! Don’t kill me! (Baldal stops his attack.) Baldal: Pff! At the brink of death, it seems you are really just a coward… Ares: No…that’s not it… You intend to destroy me. But I cannot let my power go wasted… Baldal: What’s your point? Ares: You have potential, my son, to become a greater God of War than I ever was. That much I can admit. And if you allow me to give you my power, that potential could be met. Baldal: Alright…you have my attention… Ares: Ahahaha! So you do desire this power… Like father, like son, eh? Baldal: Quit stalling, or my axe just might slip! Ares: Alright, alright… Just…put your hand on my shoulder… (Baldal hesitates, and then approaches Ares, putting his hand on Ares’ shoulder.) Ares: …Ha!!! (With a loud yell, Ares releases a burst of energy that blasts Baldal across the room.) Angel: Baldal! (Angel runs over to where Baldal got blasted.) Merrick: You dirty little… (Merrick begins to charge toward Ares.) Baldal: Merrick! Wait! (The screen pans over to Baldal.) Baldal: This power… You weren’t kidding… Ares: And that’s not all. Baldal: You mean there’s more…? Ares: Without my powers, I am a mortal. And the damage I have taken will surely kill me before long… So I want you to take my soul. Baldal: Your…soul? Ares: Yes. By absorbing my soul, you will gain the ability to become me, if only for short periods of time. Baldal: Become you!? Why the hell would I want to become something so despicable!? Ares: No, no, you’ll still be you. Think of it as a sort of transformation. It’s a temporary thing. Baldal: …Still…why would I want to be you at all…? Ares: Your hatred is to be admired, my son. But sometimes you must make sacrifices if you hope to achieve your goals. I can’t make you absorb my soul, but if you desire more power than I’ve already given you, you’ll take this opportunity... (Ares begins to glow.) Ares: Well…I guess this is it. So long, world! It’s been fun! And Baldal…don’t screw this up… (And with that, Ares vanishes, leaving his soul behind. The soul, once again represented by a glowing ball of light, simply floats in one spot. Suddenly, Baldal walks over to the soul, and he begins to glow.) *Baldal has received the Transformation Summon, Ares.* Baldal: Alright…let’s go. Angel: Wait, but aren’t you the king now? Merrick: Yeah, aren’t you going to rule your kingdom? Baldal: I could ask you the same thing, King Merrick. Merrick: Oh…yeah…well… Baldal: If it weren’t for you two, I would never have been able to defeat my father. I think I owe you one. So I’m coming with you. Merrick: Of course, you kinda forced us to help you… Baldal: What was that you said? Merrick: Oh, nothing! Just thinking out loud… Baldal: Besides, I’m not ready to lead a kingdom. Not yet. I feel like there’s a bigger goal I must accomplish first. And I think that if I come with you, I might just find out what that is. Angel: We’d love for you to come! Merrick: Well, I have no objections. Baldal: It’s settled, then. I’m coming with you on your journey. (The screen fades away, and fades back to the party exiting the castle.) [size0]-Kingdom of Brachos- [size0]Olympia Baldal: Hey, uh…do you guys mind if we stop by the local pub before we head out? I haven’t had anything good to drink in the longest time. Merrick: Emphasis on the “good,” am I right? Angel: Sure, Baldal. You deserve it. (The scene ends, and the party is free to roam the kingdom, until they reach the pub, which is known as “The Oasis.”) [size0]-The Oasis- [size0]The Kingdom of Brachos Scene: Once the party enters the pub, they begin walking towards the counter, with Baldal in the front and Merrick in the back. As Merrick walks slowly behind, the party witnesses a fight brewing. ???: You bastard! (Suddenly, a body flies across the room and hits Merrick, who goes flying along with it.) ???: Try to rob from me, will ya!? Who the hell do ya think you’re dealing with!? Thug 1: Whoa, this kid’s tougher than I thought… Thug 2: … ???: Oh, you haven’t seen tough... (Suddenly, the young man becomes engulfed in flames.) ???: How’s this for tough!? Huh!? Thug 1: Whoa, what the hell!? He’s on fire! Thug 2: L-let’s get the hell outta here! Thug 1: Right behind ya! (The thugs leave the pub.) ???: Pff! Losers… (The flames go out, and the young man turns and walks back toward his table.) Merrick: Why you little…! (Suddenly, Merrick walks over to the young man.) Merrick: Who do you think you are, throwing people at me like that!? Aden: Aden Pyrrhos. You lookin’ for trouble or somethin’? Merrick: Maybe I am! I don’t exactly appreciate— Angel: Did you say “Pyrrhos”? Aden: That’s right. What’s it to ya? (The screen fades out, and fades back in to Merrick, Angel, and Aden all sitting at Aden’s table.) Aden: So you’ve heard about me? Angel: Yes. They had a book about the Kingdom of Pyrkagia back at the church where I used to…um…work. It mentioned something about the Pyrrhos family. Your father was the general of the royal army, correct? Aden: …Yeah, that’s right… Angel: Then how did you end up in Brachos? Aden: … Angel: That’s okay. You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. Aden: No, I’ll talk. But first, I wanna know who the two of you are? Baldal: *hick* Ya mean three! *hick* (Fairly sloppily, Baldal walks over to the others and collapses on the table.) Merrick: … Angel: … Aden: …So…this guy’s with ya too, huh…? Angel: Oh, yes…well…he’s not normally like this… Merrick: And you call yourself a god…? Angel: Merrick! Don’t go blurting that stuff out! Merrick: Oh, sorry… Aden: Wait, what did he just say? Merrick: I said this guy’s a god. Angel: Merrick! Merrick: Well, it’s too late to hide it now. Angel: *sigh*Very well… This guy is Baldal Azthen. He’s the son of the God of War, Ares. Baldal: At—*hick*—your service… Merrick: He’s also the King of Brachos now, since he killed the former king, who just so happened to be Ares. And that also means he’s the new God of War. But that’s not all. I’m also the King of Nero, and Angel over here is the daughter of the God of Light, Apollo, which makes her the new Goddess of Light. Aden: … Angel: It’s okay if you don’t believe us. We don’t blame you. The story is a little farfetched… Aden: No…I believe you. Angel: You…do? Aden: After all the crap I had to go through, I’ll believe anything. I’ve got nothin’ left to lose… (There is a pause.) Aden: It all started when I was born into the royal family as General Pyrrhos’ son… (There is a flashback of a general and his wife holding a baby.) Aden: My dad was, as you said, the general of the king’s army. (The flashback scene shifts to show Aden as a small child, playing with the princess of the kingdom, who was about the same age.) Aden: Because of that, the king treated us like we were part of the royal family. I really liked playin’ around the castle with the princess. But… (The flashback scene shifts to show the king in his throne room in the dark, looking out the window at a thunderstorm.) Aden: The king had plans. He was gonna sacrifice his own daughter to the God of Fire, Hephaestus, so that he won’t make the volcano angry! (The scene lights up as a flash of intense lightning strikes.) Aden: He felt that the thunderstorm was a bad omen, warning us that the Hephaestus Volcano would soon erupt. (In the flashback, the general walks into the throne room to stop the king.) Aden: My dad tried to stop him. He knew how much I cared for the princess. He also knew that thunderstorms weren’t somethin’ that never happened in Pyrkagia. So he told him… (In the flashback, the king suddenly raises his hand, and guards appear and take the general away.) Aden: But the king took it as an assassination attempt. Because he told the truth, I guess the king thought of my dad as a threat, and ordered the guards to throw him in the dungeon. (The scene fades back in to present time.) Aden: Soon after that, my dad was ordered to be hanged. With my dad dead, the king didn’t see a reason for me to live in the castle anymore. But I had nowhere else to go. I had no family left. So he ended up throwin’ me in a crappy little shack by the castle, and I was forced to work for the king as his stable boy. All this happened, and I was only six years old… Angel: That’s…horrible… Aden: I spent the next seven years workin’ like a slave to the king. At some point, though, I figured out that I could make fire. I used that to escape. And I’ve been travellin’ ever since, trainin’ day and night, waitin’ for the day when I could finally have my revenge… Merrick: Revenge, huh…? I know that feeling all too well… Angel: … Baldal: *belch* Merrick: Tell you what, kid, how about you come with us, and we help you with your revenge? Aden: Are you serious? Angel: What? But shouldn’t we be— Merrick: Don’t worry about where we’re headed. We’ll just take a little detour. Aden: You sure ya wanna go through such trouble for me? Merrick: As sure as I always am. Besides, you’ve got nothing left. If I don’t make sure you have your revenge, I don’t think I could live with myself. Aden: Jeez… That really means a lot to me… You know what…when this is all over, how about I travel with you guys? Merrick: It’s a deal! (Suddenly, Baldal vomits.) Aden: Maaaaaybe we should rest first… (The scene fades out.) [size0]-Kingdom of Brachos- [size0]Olympia Scene: The scene fades in, and the party is about to head out. Angel: Are you feeling better, Baldal? Baldal: Ugh… Merrick: Alright, guys, let’s go. Aden: Right! (The party leaves Brachos, and the scene fades out.) Edited by Poseidon, Jun 5 2011, 11:36 PM.
