It is with a very heavy heart that i have to regretably inform all fruity video lovers of this sad, sad news, the death of my nokia N95 mk1. Picked it up today to check the time, and blackness, no screen activity at all, so i removed the battery and switched it back on again, phone came on, but still no screen, so when i got home i got that piddly little star drive thing and took it apart, somehow the little ribbon cable from the LCD had unplugged, so i plugged it back in, rebooted the phone whilst holding all the bits in place, and result, working, i was so happy! However, my happiness was to be shortlived.... Whilst re assembling the handset there was a tricky moment where you have to push both parts together from the side in order to get the top back into the little runners so it slides properly, but sweaty hands and a shiney phone case were a recipe for disaster, and while applying this moderate pressure, the top of the phone jumped out of the track on the side i was pushing it into, and this caused my hands to slip, and rip the big ribbon cable that connects the 2 parts of the phone. Sadly, this proved to be a fatal fracture of the devices wiring and no more could be done to save it. The time of death was recorded as 17:58pm today. angry angry angry |

i believe the screens are different on the normal and 8gb version. i agree, just ebay a cable / screen or whatever, or if you fancy an upgrade anyway sell it as faulty. mazuma (or other phone buying sites) will pay £23 for it when faulty, so you can even keep all the acc's for it and the charger, etc, and thats £23 off a new phone. |
