KILLER GAME 7: Umineko - Game Room; Hide the truth inside the fantasy

There are three sides to the battle, namely:
- The Detective (Detective)
- The True Culprit (TC)
- The Golden Witch (GW)

There is also the Territory Lord (Narrator), who unlike previous games may directly influence this one.


All players will be paired up in a group of two. One of the players is a 'Witch' (Contractor in the DtB games) and the other is the 'Vessel'. While the Vessel doesn't hold any special abilities, the Witch will be granted an ability at the start of the game. Vessels may be graduated to the status of a Witch during the game.

Abilities are separate from the three roles (GW, TC and Detective). The GW role will always belong to a Witch, while the TC role will always belong to a Vessel. The Detective role may belong to either type of player. Both the Witches and Vessels are expected to work together with the Detective in order to catch the GW and TC.

The abilities players possess will slowly be revealed during the course of the game, though it will not be stated who holds what ability. Depending on the death, some abilities might be revealed when a player is killed, while some may not. As you'll find out during the game, death works differently on this game board. I urge everyone to not talk with each other about the game, even after death. Dedicated players killed before their time may be summoned later in the game, so don't be afraid to give it your all.



The Detective
While still called the detective, this role is more akin to that of the main viewpoint in a mystery novel. Not an actual detective, instead they are the main character of this story. Everything they experience is fact, while any other narrative may include lies. While the Territory Lord may lie to players, everything told to the Detective will be truthful.

Instead of accepting confinement, the Detective has the ability to keep someone under surveillance. Should he investigate the TC while they kill someone, the TC will be put away immediately. The GW cannot be caught this way as they use magic for their deaths. Players can still be confined, but will instead be put away immediately when the amount of votes necessary is reached. This means it's also the job of the non-roles to confine the TC.

The Detective is the only one who can catch the GW. They will be able to challenge the GW’s mystery (Their identity and the mystery behind their kills, The Epitaph) using the Blue Truth. If they prematurely solve the Witch’s puzzle, the game will not escalate to the Meta World and the GW will give up the game. Unlike in the Meta World, incorrect Blue will not be countered with Red, but will simply be denied. How this is done will be explained during the progress of the game.


The True Culprit
The original killer role. As in previous games, they can plan a kill every 24 hours and their goal is to find and kill the Detective. Depending on the progress of the game, the TC may have to kill the GW as well. Unlike Kira from the previous games, the TC has no super-natural powers. This will be reflected in the deaths, as they are no longer able to kill by means such as heart attacks. All their written kills must be possible by a human.


The Golden Witch
The new, third side in the game. Like the TC, the GW can plan a kill every 24 hours. Their goal is unknown for all players but them, and must be figured out by the players through the hints given by both the Territory Lord (TL) and GW. An Epitaph will be posted, which will be a huge hint to the mystery of the Golden Witch. The GW is able to write elaborate kills and may use magic for their death causes.

Should the GW’s goal be reached, the game will escalate to the Meta World and the Detective will have to engage in a battle of truths between them and the GW & TL. The rules for this battle will be fully explained should this point be reached. They will be mostly the same as the Meta World battle in the DtB#2 game, so it is suggested to read through that.

From here on out, I will refer to the GW as she and the rest as he. As I have a certain picture in my head when I think of a witch, I might slip up at one point during the game when trying to keep it genderless.



Red Truth
If it is written in red, it must be the truth. This is the basis of our game. There is no reason to doubt it.


The Red Truth will be prominent in this game. Not only will it be the primary weapon of the witches' side should the game escalate to the Meta World, a player may also gain the ability to speak in Red. Anything written in Red must be the truth, though subjective. During the early part of the game, only the Territory Lord and the player with the 'Witch of Truth' ability will be able to use Red. Even the Territory Lord may lie when not speaking in Red, so keep this in mind.

Should someone try to lie in Red or should a player without the ability attempt to use Red, they will choke on their words and die.


Blue Truth
The Blue Truth can be analogous to a shotgun in contrast to the Red Truth, which would be akin to a single shot handgun.

The Detective side's main weapon, the Blue Truth is the only way to stop the Golden Witch from killing. Any theory on the GW's identity written in Blue must be denied by either the GW or Territory Lord in Red. Should they fail to do this, that battle will be lost to them.

During the early part of the game, only the player with the 'Witch Hunter' ability will be able to use Blue. Should they fail in stopping the Golden Witch, this duty will become the Detective's himself.

As you may have noticed, this game's theme is murder mystery. Not all new rules have been announced and will become more clear during the game. While we would normally only focus on the whodunnit, I hope to have everyone work together to tackle the mystery which will be written by the Golden Witch and the Territory Lord (Narrator) himself.

The Golden Witch and I welcome you to the grand opening of this game board. The roulette has already chosen everyone's role and identity. Satisfied or not, great things are expected of you. Cast away your hesitations and show us just how strong your piece can be. Let flames of new begin to rise, and set afire to your spirit.



As we have new players and the game usually starts a bit slow, how about everyone introduce themselves? Whatever happens, I wish everyone the best of luck.

I can only say.. that when I thought the darker than black theme seemed confusing to me.. it was nothing compared to this. XD I hope I get a better understanding of the rules shortly. I know it's much like the KiraGame, but the new names and abilities still confuse me a little. :P

Looking forward meeting the new players. And can't wait to see this game pick up its pace. :3

To me, somewhat ironically, the new special rules are almost clearer than the way the Killer Game itself should be played. :P I have played a sort of similar forum game once or twice, but it's the minute differences in the rules that make this seem rather confusing, at least at the start. Well, I guess I'll get into the spirit of the game rather quickly anyhow - at least if my studies'll allow that, bah. :D (However, I guess it's more likely for my attendance in the game to affect my studying than the other way around considering how much of a lazy procrastinator I can be.)

But yah, it sure is exciting standing here, on rainy Rokkenjima, surrounded by a dozen strangers. Might have something to do with the fact that I might be dead tomorrow at the same time... but, hey, you only live once; might as well enjoy it when you're closed inside a mansion with two more or less insane murderers.

As the Golden Witch has yet to envelop our Rokkenjima in the endless storm, there is little to understand or do. We are simply innocent beings invited to a remote island to enjoy each other's company. Should a...disaster occur, the rules will become clear.

To clarify some of the numbers:

There are two confinement slots, not counting the Detective's investigation.
Four votes are needed for confinement.
People can be released from confinement by the Detective, or automatically if their innocence is proven.

Both the GW and TC have a cooldown of 24 hours. They have to kill every 48 hours.

FFS, I posted the rules ages ago, linked them to people for feedback and everyone said they got it. Where's this coming from?

The new players seem to grasp the rules just fine. Considering we're waiting, PM me or post any questions you have.
