Kira Game Advanced Rulebook Note that these rules are outdated. Contact your nearest narrator if you have questions about the current ruleset. Basic Overview There is no limit to how many people can play, but it's suggested to go with around 20 players, excluding the narrator. The Narrator is a neutral player who chooses randomly the roles of all the other players. Roles: Kira #1 Kira #2 Kira #3 Shinigami L N M Watari Chief of Police Innocent Sides: There are two possible sides: 1. The Kira Side (Kira #1, Kira #2, Kira #3, Shinigami) 2. The Detectives Side (L, N, M, Watari, Chief of Police) The Innocents can choose either side to help. Goal of the game: Kiras (#1 and #2): Kill the Detectives Detectives (L and N): Confine the Kiras Watari/Shinigami: Help the Detectives/Kiras M/Kira #3: Become the succesor of the the previous Detective/Kira. Innocent: Have the side you're supporting win At first: First, the narrator makes a list (usually done in the first post of the Kira Game thread) with all the participants. When the recruitment for participants stops, the narrator chooses randomly who all the roles are, and PMs these people informing them of their role (including the innocents). After that, the game is ready to start. The participant list will be kept updated with deaths (including death cause), confinements, and how many Kiras/Detectives there are left. About kills: There are two roles that have the ability to write down a kill: All versions of Kira and the Shinigami. The narrator will announce the death at the appointed time and will mention the victim's role. A kill should be PMed to the narrator including the date, time, name and death message. Ex.: 21th of June, 14:00 (GMT+0) Mara Jade "Mara Jade tripped on a spoon and died." In the Advanced games, it is possible to slightly control someone's role when writing their death. A Kira with a locked up partner, for example, could include in the detective's death message that they release everyone from confinement. This is only to be used when sure of someone's role and will always have to be discussed with the narrator, who may deny the kill for any number of reasons. Narrator: The Narrator has to stay in contact with the Kiras and the Detectives, and update the Kira Game thread if the Kiras or Detectives have made a move. Sakura TV: Besides being the "manager" of Kira and the Detectives, the Narrator also has an account named "Sakura TV", which can broadcast messages from everyone. The players will contact the Narrator when they want to make use of the Sakura TV account. The Narrator will then post the message in the Kira Game Thread using this account. Players can also PM the "Sakura TV" account if they wish to send a message (or fanmail) to Kira or the Detectives. The Narrator will then forward these PMs to Kira/the Detectives so they can read them. Fanmail can be used only to contact the opposite team. For instance, Kiras/Shinigami can fanmail the detectives/Watari. Innocents may use fanmail to contact whichever side. Therefore it is forbidden that the detectives and Watari contact each other using fanmail. Same goes for the Kiras/Shinigami. The narrator himself decides whether to or not accept fake messages. Kira: If you're a Kira, you have to contact the other Kira. You don't know who your partner is, so you'll have to go through the trouble to find your partner. The Kiras will decide themselves who to kill and do so with their own notebook. Each Kira has his/her own Notebook, and can make his/her own kills without discussing with the other Kira. When the Narrator receives the information, he/she will post it in the Kira Game thread, and update the first post with the new deaths. The second Kira can make his/her first kill after 12 hours from the beginning of the game. After that, there will be 2 kills per day if both Kiras are free. Kira's can kill each other. They also don't know each other from the beginning, so watch out. If a Kira is confined, he/she can't kill anymore, and may not contact the other Kira. Cool down period: Each Kira has his/her own "cool down period" where he/she cannot kill. This lasts for 24 hours after their last scheduled kill occurs. They can only schedule a death after the cool down period ends. If one of the Kira's fail to kill once in 72 hours (3 days), they die. Exchange pieces of Death Note: If the Kira's know each other, they can give each other a rip of each other's Death Note so they can use that to kill. It will NOT be announced when Kira's exchange rips of their Death Note Penalties: Every 4 deaths, Kira will receive a penalty and Watari will receive the name of one innocent. Sakura TV: The Kiras can make use of "Sakura TV", which is a TV broadcasting company that spreads messages from Kira and L. This Sakura TV is especially useful when Kira wants to send the other players a message while staying anonymous. When Kira wants to broadcast a message through Sakura TV, they need to PM the Narrator with their message. It must not be something like "I want Sakura TV to *insert something here*", but something that can be directly copied and pasted, so that the Narrator doesn't have to write the message himself. This is necessary because the writing style in which the message is written can lead to clues who Kira is. Eye Deal: If one of the Kira's wish to do so, the Kira's will be able to make the eye deal. The Eye Deal can be made only if the Kira who wishes so knows the Shinigami The Kira that has made the eye deal will receive the name of the other Kira. When he/she does so, the amount of deaths needed for a penalty drops to 3, and Watari is given two more names of innocents. It will be announced when the Eye Deal is made Detective: Under the category of Detectives, we have "L" and "N". Although it doesn't really matter since the Innocents won't know who is who. The Detectives will get information from the Narrator about who the other Detective is, so they can contact each other. It is the Detectives job to find both Kiras and confine them. They can only confine someone when there are enough votes (four at least) from the players. However, the Detectives have to accept the confinement, and the Detectives are the only ones who can release players from confinement. The Detectives do not know who Watari is; they will have to find him themselves. Each detective has one Shinigami Trap. The detective M does not. (See Shinigami/Watari for more information) Penalties: When 5 people have been confined, the detectives will receive a penalty and the Shinigami receives the name of one innocent. Sakura TV: The Detectives can make use of "Sakura TV", which is a TV broadcasting company that spreads messages from Kira and L. This Sakura TV is especially useful when the Detectives want to inform the players who they suspect while staying anonymous. A good example would be when the Detectives want someone confined, but need votes from the Innocents. When the Detectives want to broadcast a message through Sakura TV, they need to PM the Narrator with their message. It must not be something like "I want Sakura TV to *insert something here*", but something that can be directly copied and pasted, so that the Narrator doesn't have write the message himself. This is necessary because the writing style can lead to clues who the Detectives are. Shinigami: The Shinigami is not informed of Kiras identity, so they will have to find them themselves. A Shinigami will receive the name of one innocent at the start of the game, randomly chosen by the narrator. When confined, Shinigamis, like normal players, cannot be in contact with any player other than the detectives through the narrator. They have the ability to break out of confinement by flying away. The narrator will announce this if it happens. If a Shinigami is trapped by the detectives through the use of a Shinigami trap, he cannot break out and cannot participate in the rest of the game. It will be announced when a Shinigami has been caught with a trap. A trapped Shinigami does not fill a normal confinement slot. A Shinigami will not die when his name is written down by a Kira. No kill will be announced and the Kira will be informed by the narrator that nothing happened after he wrote down the kill. The Kira will have to wait for the cooling down period to end after attempting to kill the Shinigami. The attempted kill does reset the Kira’s death-timer to 72 hours. Also, the Shinigami is in possession of his own Death Note. He can use it for a single kill, but he will be turned into ash afterwards. This will be announced by the narrator. Besides the single use, the notebook works the same as the Kira’s. Watari Watari is not informed of the detective’s identities, so they will have to find them themselves. Watari will receive the name of one innocent at the start of the game, randomly chosen by the narrator. When the Kiras have made three or four deaths, depending on the number of participants, Watari will receive another name of an innocent. It is the narrator’s job to balance the number of innocent names given out to the number of participants. The rules should be included in the first post of the game room topic. If there is no Chief of Police role, Watari can receive a single warrant. The warrant can be used on any player to see if they are Kira. If they are, it will be announced by the narrator, the notebook will be destroyed and the Kira will be locked up in a permanent confinement slot. If the subject is not Kira, nothing will happen or be announced. The narrator should mention if Watari has a warrant in the first post of the game room topic, as this changes frequently per game. M/Third Kira: The Third Kira and M are chosen by their future partners. When one of the detectives dies, the living detective chooses his future partner. That detective will become M and receives the Shinigami Trap from the dead detective, unless it has been used. One of the Kira's can choose to replace themselves with the Third Kira. The previous Kira will lose all his powers, and turn into an innocent. The Third Kira will receive the notebook and will continue the work of the previous Kira. This can only be done in confinement if the Shinigami is alive and his identity is known to the Kira. There can only be one Third Kira. It will be announced when a third Kira or M is chosen Chief of Police: The Chief of Police, or the Chief, is not informed of L or N's role. However, L is informed of the Chief's identity. L can choose to either contact him personally, or through the narrator. L may also tell N the identity of the Chief if he wishes to. The Chief holds a number search warrants (normally two) that he may use on a player. Usage of the warrant has a cooldown time of 24 hours. If a search warrant is used on a Kira, they'll find the Death Note and the Kira will immediately be confined. The warrant may not be used if confinement is full. The Death Note will be rendered useless after being found. Also, the Death Note cannot be passed to the Thrid Kira if found using the warrant. If the warrant is used on any other role, nothing happens. L may choose to announce the searchings or not, but it will always be announced if Kira is found. Usually, The Chief role is only used in games with a high number of players. Innocent: As an Innocent you can speculate with the others about who you think the Kiras or Detectives are. But watch out what you say, because it can get you killed! The Innocents help the Detectives (or not) by voting on who they want to confine. Example: someone says they suspect Person X, gives his reasons why, and says he wants to confine said person. Then the others will vote if they agree. Four votes are needed for the confinement. The Detectives have to accept the confinement and they are the only ones who can release players from jail. There's a maximum of three confinements. Confinement: It is disallowed to talk to other members, unless it is L/N/M (contact Sakura TV so they can forward your message to the Detectives). Only the Detectives can release you from prison. The only place you may chat about the Kira Game is in the Kira Game Lounge. But be warned! Don't post stuff that will spoil the game! If a player who has voted dies, the vote is not erased. Death: When you are dead, you may not post in the Kira Game thread anymore. This condition cannot be changed. You can post in the Kira Game Lounge thread though, as long as you don't spoil. Dead players cannot help alive players with any information concerning the Kira Game The End of the Game: The Game ends when either the Kiras have died in confinement for failing to kill once in 72 hours (3 days) or the Kiras killed the detectives. When the game ends and the roles are revealed to everybody, the narrator will give out awards to every player according to their participation in the game. General Rules: - - You may only participate in one Kira Game at a time. - - Do not spam in the Kira Game thread. - - Do not double post in the Kira Game thread; just edit your last post. - - Do not post in Kira Games where you don't participate in! - - Please write in English. - - If you are going to pull something big that could turn the whole game around, alert your narrator ahead of time and get the OK. - - If someone is caught breaking rules, they get banned from future games, depending on the severity.
