Leo looks at him curiously, wondering what Lawrence was thinking. He then smiled and said, "No matter. Now you know Just what Luna really is, and more about our partnership. I don't think your knowing this will hurt anything. You act pretty cool around her, so you're not afraid or anything."

As they started walking again, he said, "But I have to admit, you gave me a good laugh there. Calling Luna something as noble as a deity. I'd bet she'd take it as a compliment!"

He kept his eyes peeled for a fast food place as they went, or some kind of restaurant. He was starting to get hungry himself, just like Luna and Lawrence. He then said, "But you never know. Maybe we do have some answers for each other, and we just don't know it. We should probably talk over dinner at least."

“Of course we should.” Lawrence responded to Leo’s statement that they ought dig each other for information once they found a place to sit down and eat. “The best seasoning for any food is good conversation.”

As they were coming to the end of a block, Lawrence checked to his side to find them passing a corner eatery. Glancing through the side panel window, he was pleased to find that it was mostly deserted. There were plenty of tables available for patrons, but more importantly the stools pulled up around the counter were nearly deserted. That meant the guy working behind it wouldn’t be that busy. He wondered if the food here was as strange as everything else that he had seen thus far, but there was no way to tell since there were no menus by the window. They’d have to go inside if they wanted to read what was being served.

“How about we stop and grab a bite here? It looks as good as any other I suppose.” Lawrence queried to his companion. After a moment he remembered Luna again and glanced behind him to take in the surrounding area before turning towards Leo with an unsure look. “Is your friend close by? I remember you were going to get something for her, too.”

Leo looked in the dinner window and said, "Yeah. This looks like a decent place. Looks like it's clean and has plenty of spaces we could sit. As for Luna, I haven't forgotten about her. I'll definitely be getting her something before we leave. A hungry digimon with an empty stomach hasn't half the fighting power they normally do. I'd be a poor Tamer if I didn't feed her." He smirked.

Luna suddenly popped her head out of some brush and said, "I'll take anything with a bit of meat with it. Perhaps a bit of Barbecue sauce too. A few potatoes wouldn't hurt either." She smiled up at the two humans without leaving her hiding place.

Lawrence’s body gave a jerk and he nearly jumped back a step when the Renamon popped out of some nearby foliage. He hadn’t even sensed another presence close by and had been taken completely by surprise; the white fox was apparently an expert at keeping hidden from detection. He listened to her request while considering it a shame that she had to wait outside while they enjoyed their food. Eating the morning meal with a, what did Leo call it, digimon? That might prove for some interesting conversation. Still, it was for the best if they didn’t want to freak anyone out by having a monster tailing them.

“Well then, shall we go inside?” The merchant asked as Luna finished her request, opening the door to the establishment and slipping through the entrance, making his way to the counter where he could find a menu to look over.

Luna smirked and said, "By the way, I appreciate the compliment earlier. It was a sweet sentiment." Her head then disappeared back in the bush, and with a rustle and a streak of white fur, she disappeared around the corner of the roof.

Leo smiled to Lawrence and said, "That's a Renamon for you. They're natural sneaks." He chuckled a bit, enjoying the look on Lawrence's face. He then turned to the door of the building and said, "Let's go in then. I'm only getting hungrier." He then walked inside ahead of Lawrence.

Lawrence managed to curb his embarrassment and contain his blush this time when he found out that the Renamon had been listening to his conversation with Leo. She really was good at sneaking around. At least he was probably on good terms with her after that mistaken assumption, though he still wondered what a digimon was if not among the mythical figures of old folktales. He let his thoughts on this die for a time as he approached the counter with Leo and had a seat on a stole closest to the register and the station that the owner working on the other side was currently manning. It looked like he was getting ready for business to pick up; they must have gotten there just a little after the place had opened its doors for business.

The merchant decided to grab a nearby menu, unfolding it and having a look see at what his hungry appetite felt like having. He quickly came to realize that most of the food was unfamiliar, not to mention he was surprised by the illustrations of food that accompanied the writing. They looked almost lifelike; the artist must have been very talented, not to mention well paid. Of course, he had no way of knowing that what he was seeing were actually photographs of food. He was intrigued by one picture of seemingly a sandwich which used a bun for the bread.

“Ham-bur-ger…” Lawrence sounded out the name of the item on the menu to himself. “I guess I’ll give that a try.” As he waited for Leo to choose something for himself, he fished around in his coin pouch, wondering how much his meal would cost him.

Leo didn't look up at Lawrence as he heard what he was thinking of getting. He then said, "I think I'll go with the triple cheeseburger with Spicy fries and a large soft Drink. Perhaps I'll get Luna a large order of buffalo wings and a drink to wash it down. Then an extra order of fries. I'm sure she'll like that just fine." He smiled a bit, sounding almost confident with his order, like he knows just what he's doing. He then looked up at Lawrence and said, "You gonna have anything else with that burger?"

From the sound of it his new friend in this town was quite accustomed to the food they were serving. When he asked if there was more Lawrence was planning to get, he looked back at the menu and noticed that indeed the picture he had been looking at was linked to a full meal, consisting of the hamburger as well as french fries and something called a soft drink. He hoped that everything was to his liking; he didn’t like wasting money on unappealing things, though for that matter he didn't care for wasting money on much of anything.

“Yes, I suppose I’ll order the burger, fries and a… co-la.” Lawrence answered back as he read off the first item on the list of beverages.

“That all for you guys?” The voice belonged to the owner of the establishment, who had apparently finished preparing things by the cash register and had overheard what the two of them were planning on ordering.

Leo was slightly startled by the bold voice. He then looked up at the owner and said, "Oh. Yeah. That will probably do well. How much would we owe you for all this?" He figured he would confirm if the currency was something he had with the answer. If it was anything other than Cash or bits, they'd probably be up a creek. Which was part of the reason he asked, as he didn't want to get into any trouble here.

“What do you got?” The man behind the counter asked, clearly not in a rush considering the lack of business so early in the day.

Lawrence continued with fiddling around through the coins in their pouch, leaving the Rumione and Lima gold coins to remain where they lay in search of smaller currency. Even the Toreni silver was pushing it; one could live frugally for a week on one of those, so he didn’t bother with it either. In the end he pulled out one of his Ruuto silvers and Torie coppers, setting the two coins down on the counter between them. The establishment’s owner grumbled something about having to deal with a newbie, something that Lawrence didn’t understand, but he didn’t question the coins and considered them briefly, picking them up and getting a feel for their weight. After a few moments he gave back the silver coin while holding up the copper Torie.

“Seven of these little guys.” The man finally answered, leaving Lawrence to fish around for his payment while looking over at Leo expectantly. “How about you, kid?”

Leo was a bit surprised at the coins Lawrence was using. They were a fair bit larger than standard currency. He then looked up to the owner and said, "Uhh. I have two forms of currency on me." He pulled out a wallet, deciding to start with US currency. He then pulled some twenties and said, "I've got a fair bit of cash on me. Hope this will do."

In the same way that Leo had been surprised by the type of currency that Lawrence carried around, the merchant was taken aback when he saw the money that his new acquaintance happened to have on hand. It looked like some kind of paper with designs sketched on with ink. Was he trying to barter? Maybe it was some sort of document, but how could it have any worth without some form of precious metal like gold or silver backing up its value? If Leo was having money troubles he should have just asked Lawrence for a loan, it wasn’t a good idea to anger a potential source of information like the man behind the counter by trying to weasel out of payment.

But the establishment’s owner didn’t appear displeased at all. In fact, he looked a little relieved as he reached out and took two of the paper bills that Leo had called twenties with a somewhat satisfied smile.

“Finally something that looks a little more familiar,” He said as he held up the bills for closer inspection and pondered to himself. “Seven fifty for the cheeseburger, then. Fifteen thirty-nine for a large order of wings and two ninety-nine for the extra fries.” By then Lawrence had managed to find the other six copper coins and leave them on the counter, so with that the store owner left for the cash register to drop in the coins and the two twenties and gather up Leo’s change.

Leo smiled and said, "Alright then. That sounds pretty reasonable." He then rounded out the total a bit and added a bit of change. When he put away his wallet, he said, "Thanks a lot. I'm glad my cash is good with you. I figured that my other currency. I'm Not sure if it can even be traded here. Do you know if anyone here deals with Bits?" He pulled some out to show the man, though he had his doubts he would even recognize them. They seemed a bit more like flat computer chips to some than currency.

“Bits, huh?” the man behind the counter asked, scratching at the balding spot on his head with one hand as he reached out and took the computer chip for examination with the other before handing it back. “What are they worth?”

Lawrence was perplexed by the thin box-like objects that Leo called bits, though unlike with the dollar bills this time he didn’t seem entirely alone. The store owner had seemed unaccustomed with working with Lawrence’s coins earlier, a fact that the merchant hadn’t missed noticing, but he hadn’t slowed a step in determining their worth. It was probably because of their precious metals, a nearly universal determinant of value. However, with the second type of currency that Leo had pulled out it now seemed to be hard for the store owner to tell, though he didn’t seem as confused as Lawrence. Still, since he didn't have a direct way of determining their value he seemed to need an idea of their purchasing power, perhaps he was looking for an example of what Leo used to spend them on.

Leo listened to the man and said, "Well, if you don't recognize them, I'd guess nothing here." He sighed a bit and put them away. He then said, "I'll just hold onto them for now. If nobody sees them as worth anything, then they're not any good." He then looked back to the Lawrence and said, "I just had to find out for myself. Since he doesn't recognize my bits, It does give me some idea to my theory about where we might be. It might make for good conversation while we wait for our food."
