Red XIII has been here in this reality for about a year now and has given up on all hopes of returning home. Countless days and weeks of studying the books in the very library the Reality House had to offer to the point of making it his sleeping quarters for some occasions, they were all wasted. The 'gods' were right, there is /no/ way to leave once you are here unless the gods per say allowed you to go back home... which is an unlikely scenario anyone will have blessed upon them.

So he decided to just make this constantly transforming house his home, relenting to those higher-up than him and instead trying to come up with new possibilities of returning home or at least dealing with the loneliness that constantly tugged at his heart strings. The poor beast... so intelligent and so hopeful yet his hopes so far have been squashed by those so called gods. Probably made him want to be an atheist or whatever.

As you could probably guess Red, aka Nanaki was slaving away in the old & dusty library up in the second floor of the Reality House, having probably read through about 85% of what was there but finding new reads and enlightening books popping up by the month. Don't even ask how he can reach to the books on the very tall bookcases.

Stretching, Harusaki entered the old and musty library, a place which she had called home for the past few days. As she had always lurked in the darker corners of the area, Nanaki hadn't discovered her ... yet. But now, she had just come home from a shower in the nearby bedrooms. Towel around shoulders, she passed by the world indexes. Her chestnut eyes caught a red figure trying to locate some books to read - which naturally intrigued the girl.

"Hello?" she stated, waving at the figure to try to catch its attention. It looked pretty cute to Harusaki; perhaps it'd be willing to socialize and be friends with her?

Red no longer tensed up from newcomers to the house as he's lost a bit of his fighting edge living here... plus newcomers came and go all the time, it just didn't surprise him anymore. Slowly he turned his head and gazed at the young girl standing there at the doorway, moving around one of the cylinder bookcases perched in the middle of the room and approaching her, stopping about ten feet away as to not scare her away.

"Hello." He greeted her with a warm and gentle smile, nothing but a kind aura escaping his person as he spoke. "You must be new here. My name's Red XIII but if you want you can call me Nanaki."

"Nanaki, nice to meet you! I'm Harusaki!" gushed the girl as she walked - more like, ran - over to him, and knelt down before him with a grin. She certainly wasn't intimidated by him ... not in the least. Instead, she seemed rather glad to have met someone in the midst of these desolate bookshelves. Staring into his eyes, Harusaki folded her arms before rubbing her wet hair with her towel.

Harusaki continued to gaze at him curiously, mostly at his fur. How strange for a canine like him to have such vividly colored fur! Wait ... was he even a canine?

"What are you?"

Red XIII is actually, modestly surprised at how Harusaki didn't get freaked out by him or his appearance. It's certainly a welcoming relief to him that he would not be left alone again. As he watched her approach he could not help but be reminded a bit of Yuffie, a friend from his past with the same kind of enthusiasm this girl has as well as the looks. Both so young but so excited about things in general.

A snicker escaped him as she questioned what he was species-wise, amused to say the very least. What was he again? Ah he couldn't answer that question because the name of his species was last thousands upon thousands of years ago. "Just consider me... a wolf. Or a dog... one of those species." He told her with such a gentle and soft voice.

Waving her hands and kimono-like sleeves in the air, Harusaki grinned at Red exuberantly. She found his name endearing, and his physical form reminding her of the pet she never had ... or rather, the beasts she used to play in video games. "A wolfdog, then!" said the girl with a nod, having already successfully convinced herself that Red was nothing but a wolfdog in this manner. Really, it was a surprise how she hadn't gotten herself decapitated yet, with her tendency to jump first and ask questions later.

"Can I live here with you? You seem to have been here for a long time," said Harusaki, duly noting the dust he had accumulated thanks to the fact that he had been reading quite the amount of books in this archive. She patted his back - or at least tried to - in order to get rid of what seemed like dust to her.

He found Harusaki's decision in calling him a 'wolfdog' cute, even funny. She's definitely a sweetie that is for sure and did not deserve being dragged into this dimension... at least that is what Red's assuming what happened to her. 'I wonder what kind of world she comes from... if it is anything like my own.' He wondered with eyes drooping down to the cold, hard floor, nothing but the sounds of their own voices to keep them company. At least they had each other now?

"...? Huh?" Her inquiry about living here surprised him heavily. Watching as Haru patted away some dust gathered on his back he shook his head, smiling happily at the girl. "I would be very happy if you did stay here. The house constantly changes and morphs as more and more people arrive in this realm. I think the point IS for you to live here and stay here... although I'm glad now to have a friend to communicate with after so long."

He chuckled a bit, shaking his head in bitterness. "Most people are frightened by me, my appearance."

"I've been living here for like, the past few days," said Harusaki with an exuberant nod. She continued patting his back free of dust with a warm smile, before noticing the beautiful shade his fur was. "You need a bath," murmured the girl. Giggling, she turned to look him in the eye before nodding. It was easy to understand why things change; people change, too, so why would not the house?

She smiled. "I see your point Nanaki," she said, nodding once again. "I think this place changes to suit you ... like how I wanted a bathroom and voila! Next thing I knew ... it was there." Harusaki sighed contentedly.

"Oh and your appearance? I think it suits you just fine ... I'm not frightened."

Red shifted around and laughed lightly from the comment about him needing a bath, glancing over his shoulder at his own body and noticing that some patches of fur were bright red revealing his true colors per say while others were coated with a bit of dust from lingering in this library for so long, making his fur coat less fantastic.

"Heh... that I do." He mumbled in agreement to the bath and then gazing at Harusaki again. She was definitely chip and happy from start to finish and that sort of vibe is comforting for the animal who has had a luck of friends the past days.

As she complimented his appearance Nanaki couldn't help but smile and even blush slightly in surprise. Such a young girl not being afraid of him and what he looked like, and that he can talk... made him feel comfy and even a bit pleased on the inside. "Thank you."

Harusaki grinned. It wasn't everyday she saw a dog, uh, wolfdog - a talking one, no less - agree to take a bath. Some dogs just right-out hated being put into water. Playfully, she tossed her towel over to Red, watching as the towel fell around his head and body. "There's your towel!" she said with a laugh.

"Well, no prob, I'm just saying what I think and see," said the girl as she nodded. "Back in your home-world ..." she said, somehow knowing that Red was of a different world than her, "Do people hate you because of what you are?" Concerned, she looked at Red. She knew how it felt like to be hated and disliked, especially after the incident that happened to her.

Ever since the other hosts started to die with the exception of her and two others, the rest of the parents hadn't bothered to conceal their jealousy or even envy of the children who were still alive and kicking.

A hearty laugh escaped Red XIII's lips as the towel was thrown on top of him, simply keeping it there seeing it would be less trouble to carry around now anyways. "Har har, very funny." He responded to Harusaki with a warm, meaningful laugh, having not done so in such a long time. It was nice.

Haru's next words really stuck to him though and made him think, his eyes wandering up towards a cobweb being formed in the corner of the room and just simply nodding his head in a brief gesture to say yes. As much as he didn't want to talk about it he decided to anyways, figuring this girl would understand... or try to understand him.

"I... yeah... yeah people have shown dislike towards me and even fear." He answered plainly and honestly, finally not having to worry in this realm seeing there was no time to really hate something like him... well there was but he didn't receive much hate in general as compared to his old home world. "I'm a monster but I also have human emotions... pain and sorrow are two emotions I suffer from on a daily basis."

His voice faded and mind wandered, unsure of how to continue...

Harusaki shared the laugh with Red as she then glanced at him. "Well, that's because it is ..." she said with a grin before draping it properly over his shoulder blades. "There, looks better now," said the girl as she leaned back to survey her newest piece of 'work'.

As she listened to what Red had to say, Harusaki sighed sadly. People could be so mean sometimes ... she knew how he felt. "Now you listen to me, 'cause you're no monster, like I said, you're a wolfdog," she said with a smile as she placed a hand on his (still dusty) body. "And I know how it's like to, well, be disliked."

"Believe it or not, I'm a host to a parasite ..." said Harusaki, caring not for whoever else besides her and Red that might be there, "There are other kids who are like me, and not all of them lived to my age. The parents got really envious that they'd do anything to get back their kids, even if it means killing the rest of us off ..."

"They just don't know that nothing's gonna bring their kids back ... but what are we two talking about?" she said, before brightening up. "Well, there's no time to be sad here, so just be yourself. I'm sure there were other people who treated you as friends back then."

Harusaki grinned.

Red found himself being drawn into Harusaki's story rather quickly, his eyes widening and lips parting to let out a gasp of pure astonishment. This girl was a host to some parasite? Their parents killed them off? ... Someone as sweet as Haru was hated at one point or another too? It just didn't click with him. He didn't believe her initially.

'For someone to suffer through something like that in her lifetime...' His eyes wandered over the young girl inquisitively. 15... maybe 16 years old at the most. So young and for her to be put through such a tedious challenge and have possibly friends that are her own age be killed off before her very eyes, he just felt so much for the girl. "I'm sorry..." Was all he could really say in an attempted response.

No one deserved that treatment so maybe in the end being brought here would actually be better. Not as many to judge them or harass them, they could do whatever they want and just enjoy life as it is. Yeah... it could be their own paradise minus a few small flaws... flaws such as not seeing their friends again.

As Harusaki attempted to get back in a cheery outset he found himself admiring this young woman even more so than before, his lips curling into a smile as they stood there in the cold, dusty library. The ability to keep happy and look on the bright side of things even when it all seems bleak... she had that capability.

"Heh, yeah... I did have a bunch of close friends back in my world." He answered in response while laying down right there in front of her, finding his legs growing slightly tired from just staying still five or six minutes straight. "I can add one more to that list and I just made that said friend right here in this library..." Red's smile and gaze would tell Haru the obvious answer being meant by that.

"No, no; it's okay," said Harusaki, seemingly startled by Red's apology. Patting him on the head with a smile, the girl's hazel eyes met with his kind ones. "It's a sob story anyway. It just makes me sound ... strange," she said, giggling soon after as she toyed with the towel on his back.

It was rather strange, even to the girl herself, how she was managing this admirably in keeping herself optimistic. It was probably the difference in company she kept - or so she thought, anyway. However, queer as it might be, she was liking this new part of herself.

"See ... you weren't alone at all back then," she said. Grinning, Harusaki folded her arms as she glanced at the wolfdog. "Heh, same here!" said the girl with a smirk, "I used to have two other friends back home," said Harusaki, running a finger down his spine, "They were like me, so stuff was easier ..."

"Anyway~ I'm glad I met you, Nanaki!"

Red looked a bit guilty none-the-less for her so called 'sob story', really feeling for her there though deciding to just leave it where it belonged... in the past. They had to move on and look forward to the future despite how bleak things can get sometimes, no matter how hard the obstacles in their path are to overcome, whether they're physical or psychological.

A shiver went down his spine as that finger trailed down his spinal cord, his fur practically standing on end from the rare feeling and gesture he received. 'H-Heh...' His eyes watched Harusaki and her every move and his ears kept in attention as she spoke, taking in every word and finding her more and more fascinating. Then as she made the comment about being glad to have met him his lips curled up even more into a smile, almost feeling flattered as he bowed his head slightly.

"If anything I'm glad to have met you Harusaki. You're a really sweet girl." He told her in complete seriousness. If anyone said otherwise he would bite them on the butt or something.
