That One Guy

Just say The Brothers Bloom a few days ago. Was excited about it 'cause of all the hype surrounding it. Someone somewhere said "this isn't a con movie. It's a movie about con artists." which I think sums it up pretty well. It follows the lives of two con artist brothers from childhood to their latest con where the younger brother has finally had enough and wants out. He's convinced to do one more con and that's where the main story takes place. While I was expecting something more along the lines of "Ocean's Eleven" and "Inside Man" I got something entirely different. It was still a fun, enjoyable movie, but it also went a lot deeper and ended up being quite emotional. Recommend this to anyone who loves a good indie movie. Great acting, good writing, and a fun experience overall. 8/10 Another movie I saw recently was (500) Days of Summer. So yeah I was pretty much already in love with this movie 'cause of the trailer and 'cause of Zooey. That's not to say Joseph Gordon-Levitt isn't awesome too, but he can't really compete with the doe-eyed Ms. Deschanel. Hands down I must say this is a pretty funny movie, probably the funniest romantic-comedy I've seen in.. well ever! Now don't shy away cause I said romantic-comedy. This is far, far from a chick flick. Any guy will be as entertained by this movie as any girl. The basic plot of the story is a "woman who doesn't believe true love exists, and the young man who falls for her." Sounds generic but this movie is far from generic as can be. I really loved this movie and highly recommend you all to go see it. 9.5/10 |

Just saw The Karate Kid (Yes the new one), and simply put: It was an excellent family movie. Even I was a bit of a skeptic when I first heard they were doing a redo of the original, especially since there would be no Miyagi, but I figured I'd give it a chance. While it did drag out the parts before Jackie Chan's character even said he would train Jayden's, they still kept it interesting. Even with so few martial art scenes that it did have, they were fantastic. Jackie and Jayden did a pretty awesome job together, and I think it really made the movie what it is: a good, clean, and fresh take on the original. 8/10 Clash of the Titans: Luckily this was at the dollar theater, so I feel as if I got my money's worth. Bad acting, rushed story, parts that weren't even accurate to the source. It was fun to make fun of though since we were the only ones in the theater, and that helps the score a tad. 4/10 Edited by Ani-Stig, Jul 8 2010, 05:47 AM.
