Constituents Call for Thompson's Resignation Calls come after he performs a sudden swap to the other side of the aisle. ![]() Spartanburg, South Carolina - Representative Rudy Thompson, formerly a Republican, announced today that he would be switching his party affiliation and would therefore become a Democrat. The reasons for his sudden change of heart are unknown, but speculators and political pundits claim that they may be related to the Democratic majority in the House or the likelihood of a Democratic President following the 2008 elections. While he said in a press release that none of his policies had changed, and that only his party affiliation had, many of the people he was elected to represent aren't so sure. "We elected him with an 'R' next to his name," said trucker Zack Hudgins, a resident of Greenville. "And now he's gone and switched that affiliation, leaving the people who elected him behind," he continued. Hudgins also echoed the call of local Republican leaders for Thompson to resign, claiming that "Representatives are elected to represent the people who voted for them. He's shown us that he's not interested in doing that." |
