No jacket, today, she resolved, catching a peripheral glimpse of her modest smile in the mirror before her. In spite of her typical reserve, and in spite of that unshakably negative vibe she'd felt every night and day in this dormitory, Rin was a morning girl. Outside, the sun had risen far enough to light up the bright, blue sky and reveal its dotted array of clouds, and the early temperature was just cool enough not to exhaust her by noon. Today was a day to take another tiptoe further from her comfort zone; to explore another few inches of yet-uncharted Althean territory. Since the catastrophe with Blaze and the Machoke, she had been more than prudent about leaving New Haven. Today, that was changing. She had by her side an able Scyther that would protect her (metaphorically; who the hell would shower and get dressed with their Pokémon, that'd be awkward, goddamn, what is wrong with you). She resumed focusing on a particularly stubborn lock of hair, far more frizzled than its parallel that ran down her torso. Althea's climate was similar in temperature to the inner Goldenrod area's, sure, but the humidity here was outright painful. At least Kolek seemed to enjoy the added warmth.

Rin looked down at her personal bag, filled with hygienic supplies and various doodads - toothbrushes, hairbrushes, neatly-organized "feminine things", et cetera. Tucked into an inner side pocket was the faux lilac flower, modestly returning her pensive stare. It was that pocket's soul occupant, that fake little lilac flower. A going-away present (among several). Attached to it were a pair of grey prongs to wrap around a lock of hair. Rin bit her lip as she contemplated wearing it for her first time since arrival, but she decided against it. However small, it drew that much more attention. She wasn't a huge fan of that.

Outside of the bathroom door and a few feet to the left, her Scyther lie on his back with his scythes crossed, impatiently awaiting his mistress. Kolek couldn't comprehend why a girl like her would always put so much effort into her appearance only to shy away from any hint of a spotlight. Maybe it was a female thing; maybe it was a human thing. A human female thing. Human females were odd creatures.

The door swung gently open to reveal a fully-prepared Rinia, who looked to her Scyther with a grin and nod. Silently thankful, the Scyther shifted and rose from the ruffled sheets. In a dormitory that occupied four humans, and indeed currently occupied four humans, their Pokémon and a Scyther, Kolek hadn't had the chance to enjoy decent bedding. He had already been in a small tuft with Bulbasaur involving one empty mattress, a tired Scyther and Trainer that had just gotten up. However, to avoid any more discrepancies, Kolek had since then slept somewhere on the floor for the nights, enjoying the downy comfort of Rin's bed whenever she was absent from it.

The pair proceeded wordlessly out of their dormitory, then down a flight of stairs. Theirs was a dorm located only a stone's throw from an exit, for which Rin was entirely too thankful. However, with her Scyther around ten paces behind, turning the corner after descending the stairs proved hazardous. As Rin shifted right toward the exit, she was met quite suddenly with a flat, well-developed torso and brief, subsequent loss of vision.

BUMP

Rin emitted a murine squeak and hobbled backward, her mouth covered by a pair of hands in apologetic panic. Upon scanning just who she had blindly run into, however, she was sure to keep her hands there to hide her reddening cheeks.

The man stood before her bore wild, blond hair and eyes as the Althean sky. His upper body, toned, tanned and masculine, was hugged tightly by a white, sleeveless shirt - colloquially, 'wife-beater', should the Johto term carry weight on Althea - and...and...well, Rin couldn't do much analysis beyond that.

She fought to bring her eyes up to his - quickly, however, that plan failed, and her gaze instead fell about to his chin, neck, then chest, then back up to his chin. She then realized that entirely too much time had elapsed since collision to allow for any social grace. Her follow-up sentence was the cherry on top: "Oh, I-I'm sorry, I di-didn't see..."

Kolek, stood on the third step up, watched intently, sensing no real danger - yet. He wasn't entirely sure what had just happened, but today's growing warmth must have been too much for Rin already, judging from the coloration of her face.
