Blue was the only color reflecting off Lex's eyes until a blob of foreign colors overwhelmed his vision. Lex presumed this island that they began to head toward was Althea, but it was not. He realized such as they passed over it. It was lush and green and Lex hoped Althea would be the same. He did not know exactly what Althea looked like beside the immediate descriptions everyone was given. That is was an island, city and state all in one. He did not really pay attention to any other descriptions the company gave him. He faintly remembers random tib bits of what the company said like "Don't go out at night" or "New Haven is the only Safe Place". But nothing really stands out in his mind or any reasons why. He was tired that day and did not really feel like paying attention that day.

Anyway, Lex continued to stare out into the ocean as the Chopper flew on toward its destination. After many more hours of blandly staring at blue, Althea finally came into sight. To Lex's disappointment, it was not a lush jungle, but seemed more like a giant city. He knew he should have payed attention more so he could've prepared himself correctly. The hopper began to descend onto the island. As it touched the ground the pilot informed everyone to exit the Chopper and to make sure they had all their belongings. "Because you may not see them again for a long time." The pilot's last words to the passengers were. Lex found something peculiar with the tone of the pilot's voice, but just brushed it off. Why worry about such stupid things when there is an island and endless possibilities in front of him.

Lex then looked to Trist, who had already popped out of his pokeball and was running with glee through New Haven. "Trist! Wait up!" Lex said with a smile as he ran after Trist who was already very far ahead. Trist continued to run in curves and zig-zags with a large smile in his face as Lex began to pant. His legs weren't quite use to standing up after all the hours of sitting down. Lex Leaned over for a moment and looked behind himself to find the chopper to begin to take off. There went the last chance for him to change his mind and not to enter the tournament. "Trist! Come little buddy...slow down!" Lex said as he began to pick up running again, chasing after Trist. Lex finally caught up to Trist, who was currently in awe of all of the Pokémon and trainers in New Haven. Lex began to look around also, realizing that this was probably going to be the largest tournament he would ever go to. He saw all different kinds of Pokémon, many new and many old. He then lifted Trist up on to his shoulders and began to walk further into New Haven.

And so began a new chapter in Lex's life; one very different from his home life.

“As if my cold hands had ever felt warmth, I could almost cry, if I was able to do such a thing anymore. Yet still I wonder, what poor spirit fate has intertwined with me...” recited Nil’s bitter-sweet voice, quoting a story he had once read as he walked down the alleyways of the city. The night was cold but not uncommon since his arrival on the island a few days ago. Most of that time had been spent scoping out the city, wanting to get to know the area in which he would be living. So far so good. No warnings from Morrigan, nestled cozily around his neck, riding piggyback. The Ralts had been feeling out since arriving at the island and despite that warnings that it was just a side-effect that all Pokémon felt, something just didn’t feel right. All in all Nil left her to rest, the little, green tike deserved it.

Nihil’s breath trailed behind him in white wisps as he muttered a few more lines. A pause and his steps wavered as lights came into view. He found himself at the docks where he had first arrived, a chopper fading into the night sky and newcomers filing out of the huge tanker that had taken him here days before. The initial confusion and awe that had swept over him when he first spotted the sprawling island flooded back to him. How would these new characters handle it? Nil saw the same awe he had on some faces, complete abandon on others, even a few fearful mugs. Not that Nihil could blame them, everyone on the island was indeed an enemy, by all rights and purposes he should be just as scared, luckily a little confidence goes a long way. Most of them will be sheep to those few wolves hidden amongst all the kind faces and Nil had every intention of being a wolf.

Tiring of the days of solitude that he had spent in Althea, Nil decided to take a gamble. A flair of yellow had caught his eye, a small Elekid hanging from the shoulders of a lanky ginger teen. “Now that’s in interesting pair,” Nil muttered to Morrigan as he scratched her behind the horns, “Why don’t we pay them a visit?” His steps echoed down the streets as the crowd thinned. Each trainer was slowly making allies and going to celebrate their arrival in some manner. Ginger didn’t seem to anywhere to go so Nihil followed him a short ways, waiting for a chance to grab his attention. A devious smile spread across out intrepid protagonists face as a plan formed in his head. Rousing his sleepy cohort he quickly whispered in Morrigan’s ear, grin widening at the mental giggle she sent him. The Ralts concentrated and Nihil waved at the tall teen, as the strings of Ginger’s jacket began to glow and levitate in front of his face. Not a bad way to get someone’s attention.

Lex continued on his way aimlessly walking through the city. He was like a child on their first day of school; confused, lost and nervous. Trist though seemed overexcited, at least more than usual. Lex thought something may be up but just decided to ignore it. What ever it was about this island affecting Trist didn't seem to hurt him. On the contrary it only made Trist happier. Trist began to squeeze Lex tighter no and then began to swing around his neck in circles. "Whoa! Trist, calm down a little. You’re choking me some..." Lex said to Trist as he tried to grab hold of his wild like Pokémon. The next thing he saw was a trainer a little off in the distance waving at him. "Trist, stop! Your embarrassing us.." Lex whispered to his little buddy.

Trist then swung back into Lex's hood, where he began to peek out occasionally. Lex began to walk toward Nihil and gave a slight wave when suddenly his Hoody’s strings began to float upward and dance around in front of him. "What's going on?!" Lex said as he tried to grab them not realizing they where being manipulated by the Ralt's with Nihil until he saw it. "Oh...heh...funny. Unusual way to get someone's attention, but it worked. I see your Ralt's is very talented." Lex said with a sigh of embarrassment as he placed his hand behind his head trying not to seem anymore foolish. "So what's your name?" Lex said with a grin addressing Nihil. Trist then popped out of his little burrow also known as Lex's hood and wave at Nihil with a large grin. Trist wasn't that social with strangers either. Lex realized something was up with this island.

"I'm Lexing Rosevary, but Lex for short." Lex told the Nihil his name. He then remembered that this is a tournament and that this guy standing in front of him was his competition. Even if this guy could be his friend off the island; on the island they were rivals standing in each other's way. But then again the company recommended that everyone went in groups, or so Lex thought. Remember, he really didn't pay attention and he knew that still too. Lex ended up deciding to be friendly with the guy in front of him wasn't a mistake, and that it could possibly work out for him in the end. Having someone to watch his back for a while and just a roomy to hang out with would be a good experience. And why not team up with one of the first people you meet, it’s not like anyone else you find here you can trust more.

Suddenly the music of blaring horns and the bass of a loud drum could be heard from far away. The music seemed to dance throughout all of New Haven, garnering everyone's attention and gathering them into a crowd. Lex, obviously desperate to interact with someone who didn't fall asleep for weeks at a time, would surely be drawn to this music as if something greater than him was in control, like fate or destiny. Moving into the crowd it would become obvious that this crowd in particular was encircled around Randy and Thane. The duo had spent the whole day either fighting or doing some sort of training and Randy figured it was about time they found some entertainment and relaxed...of course, with Randy, even relaxing involved fighting. Within the inner circle of the crowd was a pair of Pokémon with their trainers slightly behind them; a Loudred was blaring a battle tune above the crowd as a very sizable Snorlax belly drummed away to the beat right next to him. The combination created a unique sound, one that put a fire in Randy's soul, and definitely made for a wicked battle tune. On the outskirts of the crowd, Regirock watched silently. It almost seemed like it was halfway between being interested and breaking it up; or perhaps he just knew it wouldn't turn violent.

Fighting like this was one of Thane's favorite ways of relaxing. You see, whenever him and Randy fight like this, it isn't to practice or get stronger; it's simply beautiful free style combat and between Randy and Thane the flow was unbelievable. Thane likened it to watching capoeira--as a matter of fact that was where Randy had originally got the concept--but with this particular duo it was a lot more visceral and tight. Originally they had starting putting on small shows like this to earn cash. With all the training and fighting they did, Randy's focus was hardly ever on money. Because of this she would often have a hard time remembering to collect her reward for battles--thus, whenever they needed money they were usually out. Thane and Randy have performed probably once in nearly every town; they didn't make a fortune or anything but they always made enough. Right now though Thane couldn't remember anything they needed money for so he figured they were just doing it for fun. Randy, on the other hand, intended to make enough money to recode Thane with an egg move. During orientation she remembered the tournament staff mentioning a machine that can recode Pokémon to learn egg moves and there was a particular move Randy really wanted Thane to have.

As the music rang throughout the square, Randy could feel her blood pumping through her veins--it was time to start. With a quick jump forward, Randy sent out a straight kick toward Thane's chest. The attack was fast and aggressive; to anyone within the crowd the attack would no doubt seem ruthless, as if she was actually trying to hurt he Pokémon. Thane could tell though that not only was she not attacking her fastest, but if he let the kick hit him it probably wouldn't even hurt. Randy was putting on a show, not actually trying to hurt anyone, as was Thane--they had been doing this street performance for quite some time. Thane grabbed her foot and quickly tossed it into the air, causing Randy to flip backwards. Landing on her hands and spinning, Randy attempted to spin kick her Hitmonlee. As she spun, Thane hopped back and attempted to deliver a low sweep to her face. Like clockwork, as soon as Thane began attacking, Randy vaulted forward off of her hands. Her form flew clean and straight through the air, over Thane's attack and then onto her feet on the other side of him. The Pokémon was already facing Randy as she turned to him and he began throwing punches at her left and right. What followed was a highly choreographed sequence of punches and kicks that was Randy and Thane's favorite. They had learned the technique from a pair of traveling choreographers that they met on their travels and both had taken their lessons on stage fighting to heart. Thane's punches were quick and brutal, some of them making purchase on Randy's midsection. Randy followed Thane's assault with a fierce volley of standing and jumping kicks--the resulting exchange caused the crowd to roar with excitement.

There was a sound of collision as Randy and Thane locked their arms around each others head. Flipping backward, Thane performed what could best be surprised as a suplex. The crowd's anticipation was palpable as Randy slowly began her descent toward the ground. Suddenly another roar of cheers as Randy landed on her feet and then flipped forward and tossed Thane in front of her. Usually this is the part were Thane and Randy would begin their epic finale but unfortunately Randy had miscalculated. Apparently, at some point between spin kicks, Randy's direction had changed. Throwing Thane forward into what she thought was empty space was instead a large chunk of the crowd. The Pokémon would coast through the crowd before landing with a thud on top of Lex. The music, along with nearly any other noise, stopped the moment the battle had come to an end. The crowd was having fun while it lasted but apparently didn't care enough for Randy and Thane to get back into position. But the time Randy had made her way to her dazed Pokémon and a random floored trainer most of the crowd had dispersed about the square and the Regi had returned to minding his own business. Pushing Thane off of the trainer, Randy extended a hand to help him up; "Sorry about that! We can, uh, get a little carried away at times...My name's Randy--I suppose I should know the name of the trainer I just catapulted my Pokémon in to."

((Sorry for godmoding you a bit but I figured it was the easiest way to get us to meet without an extra post in between of us walking up to eachother.))

Lex heard the music from a distance and suddenly his body suddenly moved toward it. His feet slowly moved him away from the kid who just played a prank on Lex. For some odd reason he seemed to loose control of his body as it trailed toward the sound. As he continued to near the noise he could make out a crowd in a circle. The crowd seemed to be in awe as it roared, cheered and continued to grow. Lex slowly made his way through the crowd when he finally made it into the heart of the monster of people. He saw the reason for this crowd to form and now knew why he was attracted here himself. An amazing display of fighting skill was being displayed by a trainer and a Pokémon. It seemed so real but yet planned all at once. They didn't seem to harm each other but each attack seemed to go at full force. This display of power and control all at once was astounding.

Lex then suddenly blacked out for a moment. The last thing he remembered seeing was the Pokémon, and as he returned back to reality he could still only see the rear end of the Pokémon. The Pokémon was apparently sent flying toward Lex and landed on him. The Pokémon then got off of Lex ad moved to the side. Lex slowly saw the crowd moving away, not hand reaching out to help him, until a very attractive women stepped forward and held out her hand. Lex quickly grabbed it and got up as she introduced herself. "Randy, it is nice to meet you. My name is Lex." Lex introduced himself before getting a better look at this beauty that stood in front of him. "It's fine. We all get carried away sometimes." Lex said with a grin. He felt a little awkward and beaten up all at once. He'd had a small prank pulled on him, been attacked by his own Pokémon, and sat on by another, but at the same time he'd met a very beautiful miss. "So... What's your Hitmonlee's name?" Lex said as Trist popped back out of Lex's hood and walked toward the other Pokémon.

"This magnificent machine of murder is Thane!"

The Hitmonlee quickly moved toward the trainer and bowed his head, both in greeting and apologies. He spoke a few untranslatable words to Lex and just hoped he would get the idea. Randy sized the trainer up and down while he was occupied with Thane; he seemed like just a regular kid, besides for being quite tall, and that was really all of note that Randy could gather. Judging from his approximate age and the closeness he shared with his Pokémon it seemed as though he was most likely pretty inexperienced, or at the very least, didn't have much experience outside of his own Pokémon. Randy thought back to how Thane was her first Pokémon and how she had shaped and cultivated him into a nasty force of nature. Although Randy had at times used other Pokémon, and most likely even had other Pokémon off of the island, she always kept Thane out of his pokeball and by her side. Randy couldn't help but reminisce as her memory slipped back to when she was a child and once saw a Pokémon trainer with a red hat and a Pikachu that he always kept out of his ball. She could remember how poweful his Pokémon was and how quickly it could leap into action from his side--it also seemed like Pokémon that were constantly out of their balls seemed more limber and upbeat, an advantage Randy liked to have.

"Nice to meet you Lex! And that seems to be quite the little cutey you have there-- Randy motioned her head toward Elekid "What's his name?"

Thane's mind tumble around as he tried to remember why this little Pokémon looked so familiar; not Trist in particular, but Elekids. He couldn't really think of a time where he had fought one... OH!! Obviously, Thane was quite familiar with the Electabuzz Pokémon and, as quite stupid as it sounded, Thane didn't immediately recognize their connection. Back on the mainland Randy would always toss Thane at tougher enemies--usually this also meant enemies that where his same size or bigger. Thane never bothered fighting other baby Pokémon, even when he was just a Tyrogue himself. He never intended to stay a Tyrogue for long, so he didn't want to waste his time. There was one event in-particular where Thane even had a chance encounter with an Electivire. The Pokémon was powerful and dominating, splashing thunder and lightning all over the battlefield. Hitmonlee lost that battle, lost his first fight with an Electivire, and he had always carried his failure with him in the back of his mind. Perhaps it was more than chance that Randy and Lex had met here; perhaps Lex was destined to become a powerful Pokémon trainer, and Thane and his Electivire are meant to have epic titan clashes. Perhaps...

Randy let her thoughts bounce around in her head while she waited for the kid to answer her. Although she was in the middle of a conversation, her mind was mulling over what to do next. Talking was fun and all but the day wasn't over yet and, despite spending most of the day in activity, Randy wasn't ready to call it a night yet. Her thoughts glazed playfully over the idea of spending the night guarding New Haven with the Regis but then again, Thane could probably use a rest. She could propose a fight, of course that seemed to be like, her calling card, but Randy figured they had enough of that for one day...especially with such a tiny Pokémon, it probably wouldn't even be worth waiting around for the fight to finish. With a mental sigh, Randy let her brain rest and decided she would stop thinking about what to do next for awhile. Hell, who knows, maybe this other kid will have some ideas.

"Oh-this is Trist, the first Pokémon I caught (and the only)"

Lex said as he eyed Thane and Randy whom both seemed deep in thought. Trist on the other hand ran in circles of happiness because he got to meet two new people. The Hitmonlee seemed very strong and a little scary all at the same time. Randy seemed nice but tough also, someone Trist knew he would like. Lex's thoughts differed slightly though. On the topic of Randy he was too distracted by beauty and fear al lat once; she did throw a Hitmonlee. Lex didn't even really notice Thane though, he was a little too caught up with Randy. Lex then noticed that the sun began to set, and he still remembered that under no circumstances should the participants of the tournament stay out at night. The orange/red-ish glow that scorched across the sky slowly began to fade as all light also seemed to escape. It would probably be a good time to find a dorm or some place to shack up.

"Well, it was nice to meet you but it seems to be getting late. I think I am going to head on over to the dormitories and find a room...wait, would you like to Shack up with Trist and myself?" Lex Said with a grin.

"Shack up? You make it sound like we're gonna be getting it on or something! Haha! Randy let out a loud laugh as she started moving toward the nearest dorm. "Sure, why not. I was gonna go see what kind of baddies crept out at night, but I'm sure Thane could use a rest. Giggling and bumping her elbow into Thane's side, she knew he was trying his hardest not to roll his eyes at her. That was one of the things Randy loved about Pokémon; they all, for the most part, seemed to be capable of caring very deeply about their trainer's well being. Thinking back, Randy couldn't recall a time where Thane did something to purposefully make her made. Walking in front of the group, Randy lead the way into the first dorm building. This was the first time she actually stepped foot into one of these buildings; since she got here Randy has been concerned with only one thing: Victory. Things like sleeping and resting usually came second but Randy figured Thane deserved a break. Although he would never show it, Randy knew he was always thankful for a good rest.

Stopping in front of a pair of large double doors, Randy knew this was where she wanted to stay tonight. Clearly once a large hotel, the front doors were huge and very decorative and ornate. Putting her foot against the middle of the doors Randy booted them open with a hard kick. Stepping into the lobby, Randy's assumption was proved; the lobby opened up like a grand ballroom. There was an ancient grand piano in the far corner, a great chandelier hanging from the roof, tables and chairs were broken and scattered all over the room but dead ahead was a large elevator with curling staircases that spiraled up both sides. "Ooooohhhhhh, fancy!" Randy laughed as she ran toward the elevator and began pounding on the up button. She hadn't considered if electricity really worked in these old buildings but it was worth a try. The elevator shaft seemed to groan with energy for a moment before making a loud cracking noise. It kind of sounded like a dam that had a crack in it and was starting to give way.

"Look out!"

Randy yelled as she jumped back towards Lex and tackled him to the ground. Before the trainer had any time to think Randy was already on top of him; mere moments later a loud crash could be as the elevator came crashing to the bottom floor. Dust, debris and wood exploded from the mouth of the elevator like a claymore as the room they were in filled with smoke. Coughing loudly, Randy pushed herself up with her arms and looked around the room; Thane had simply jumped to the side, he hadn't noticed the elevator was falling until it was almost to the bottom. Looking down, Randy stared at Lex; she had him basically pinned to the ground. Unintentional as it was, Randy took the opportunity to mess with the kid; it was painfully obvious he had a little trainer crush on her--it seemed like he hadn't stopped staring since they met. Randy shifted her weight so Lex could feel her whole body, leaning close she spoke:

"That was pretty close..." Randy spoke in her best sultry vixen voice--perhaps she had too much experience charming other male trainers on the road. Randy lingered mere inches from Lex's face before returning to her normal temperment. "Good thing you're alright!" Randy spoke as she hopped up to her feet quickly. Reaching a hand down to the trainer, Randy waited for him to take it so she could help him up. Seemed like tonight was going to be more interesting than she thought. They had only been together for about two posts and Randy was already getting elevators tossed at her. These were the kind of nights she lived for. "Guess we should take the stairs."

~~~
Thane watched the Elekid intently as Lex introduced him. The little Pokémon seemed pretty energetic but hadn't spoken to Thane since their trainers met; he figured the Pokémon was probably shy and it was best not to push it. As Randy began to lead the way toward a place to sleep, Thane could just tell things were going to get out of hand. The first clue was the fact that certain buildings were deemed safe and "official" dormitories, but Randy apparently had no interest in those. The Pokémon let out a prolonged sigh as Randy began heading toward a large, guady, baroque building. Randy always had a taste for the dramatic so it really made perfect sense. The inside of the building was simply stunning, even at its current age and Thane could just imagine how majestic it looked in its prime. "I wonder what happened here..." Thane though out loud. It seemed quite curious; all these shops and hotels obviously meant the island was some sort of metropolis at SOME point. The overall mystery of the island was one of the things that engaged Thane most. Suddenly, his attention was caught as he heard Randy yell something; he had wondered quite a bit into the ballroom area so he was well out of the way of the blast. As soon as the dust settled a bit, Thane ran over to Randy's side to make sure she was alright--apparently, she was more than alright and had already taken to hitting on the other trainer. Thane could only shake his head slowly at the sight; he pictured Randy like a succubus--drawing you in, sucking you dry and then leaving when you're no longer useful.
((Feel free to lead the way deeper into whatever this building is and find a room, or explore, or find a different building altogether, I don't really care, lol))
