{ Kijutsu City — Midnight Ember Office Complex }
[ Floor B1 ]
[ Weather : Sunny ]
[ Time : Noon ]

Seiryu [icon=egg] [progress=16.5,25] 16.5/25

Edgar Dolarhyde and Remy 'Thorn' Dupris - the newest initiates of the infamous Darkfire Organization. I imagine joining a criminal group would be quite the honor for the likes of you two, though the novelty of it might be more glamorous to the latter of the duo since Edgar was already well versed with illicit groups and their kind of operations. It was just a few days ago that the pair had both passed the 'entrance exam' and had been admitted into the underground levels of the Midnight Ember Office Complex, and most of your time had been passed by lounging around your shared room and being introduced to the organization itself. A fair amount of the time had been passed with the large amounts of personal screening and interviewing that you had to undergo individually... but the truth of the matter was that you were likely bored out of your minds with nothing more interesting to occupy you with.

Today had been slightly different, however! It had been hours since the two of you awoke, and not a single official had stopped by to give you any head's up on what your agenda for the day was. As a result, you had spent the entire morning wandering around the floor and occupying the large member lounge that the floor contained. The clean and modern design from the above-ground floors of the building were prominent throughout this floor as well - an outright surprise and stark contrast to the imagery one would have of the headquarters for such a seedy organization with a name like 'Darkfire'. Personally, I might've expected some run-down, partially ruined warehouse where even nicking yourself on some sharp metal protruding from the wall and various debris might warrant a hospital visit. Not some middle to upper class office interior throughout the entire floor. At the very least it was underground and completely hidden on any official schematics for the building, with only entrances that members could access.

Numerous grunts were scurrying throughout the floor, all of them looking like they had things to do or people to see. There were a couple others also passing the time in the lounge with you, three were idling around one of many small tables spaced throughout the room and another two passed out in different couches. You wouldn't have been able to get a read on the two sleeping ones, but the other three all looked just as confused / bored as the pair of you did - obviously they were also fresh recruits, unsure of what they were supposed to be doing at the moment. Oh, how the newbies tend to flock together and look so out of place.

Another couple of minutes passed in mostly awkward silence between you as you waited. Somewhere on the other side of the room a television was on and tuned to the news, though it was too faint to hear anything specific and just contributed to a white noise that lightly filled the room. The trio at the table were engaged in some quiet discussion amongst themselves and it didn't look like they were overly invested into the idea of including you in the conversation - not that you'd be remotely interested in what they had to say in the first place, I'm sure. Just as you were growing impatient with the relative silence in the room, another person - who looked to be in his late 20s - entered into the lounge and quickly surveyed the room, a look of slight surprise showing on his face after having done so.

The man himself was distinctly different from many of the other members that had been scurrying through the halls, mainly in that he towered over the rest of them. He was almost laughably tall, standing at a full height of 6'9" - a good deal taller than even Thorn himself. Not only that, but the man was incredibly well built and obviously spent a lot of time working on his body. His large muscles were blatantly visible through his crimson shirt and even the slim, sleeve-less black jacket he was wearing over it didn't do much in the way to obscure their definition. He was wearing a simple pair of blue jeans - faded and ripped in some places - and a pair of black boots. A black belt around his waist also showed a full stock of poké balls. All in all, he didn't seem like the kind of person either of you would want to get on the wrong side of, since he'd probably be capable of crushing you pretty effortlessly.

He ran his hand through his short and shaggy white hair before letting out a soft sigh and looking towards the general direction of you two and the other three newbies. "Oi, you lot," he shouted in a deep voice as he started walking forward, very effectively speaking over all random noise in the room and successfully capturing the attention of nearly everyone present. One of the goons sleeping on the couch jerked awake at this and looked to see who it was, then promptly nestled back down to try and go back to sleep after recognizing the man. His long legs let him close the gap between the entrance and the small tabled area in a matter of seconds, where he then stood such that he was able to look and address both of the groups easily.

"I can tell you're new, and I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you haven't seen anyone to get orders yet today and have just been waiting around. Right?" His tone was calm and friendly like that of a mentor, which might've come as a surprise given his intimidating appearance. Not to mention he had hit the nail on the head with his guess, probably an easy thing to do with plenty of experience within the organization. A few errant nods from the trio, who had struggled to much of anything else other than gape and stare upwards at the man, confirmed the man's claim, and he let loose another sigh in response. "Yeah, I thought so. Things have been pretty hectic with the higher ups recently and has lead to no-one properly explaining to the fresh recruits what happens on days like this, haha." Wow, even a fairly jovial smile accompanied his chuckle. Despite his appearance, he appears to be a pretty nice guy on the surface - though he is here with you lot, which means he was also a criminal that shouldn't be dealt with lightly.

"Normally if you're at the base, someone would have given you orders several hours ago if there were any assignments for you to handle. If you haven't heard anything by then, and don't have any tasks outstanding, you get to treat the day as a free day where you can do whatever it is you like! The fresh ones generally don't get the memo on that and just kind of nervously laze about - like you lot! I just got back from my own mission, so I've got some time to kill myself. If any of you are interested, I'll show you around a little bit." He paused after his little explanation and looked around to gauge responses. He then stopped and furrowed his brows in thought before continuing, "Hm, now that I think about it... Right about now, I think a lot of the members are downstairs battling. That's always a show worth seeing, so why don't I show you the way?" The way he described it sounded fairly mild and uninteresting, but he seemed to be excited about whatever memories of it he had. If you didn't have anything better to do, checking out a part of the base designed for training might not be a bad idea. You might even elect to join in and try and work on your team some. Or you could use the newfound knowledge that you were free to do as you like to... do as you like! Wandering the town was always an option, as well. Your options are pretty limitless right now, so the rest just boils down to what you decide to do.

Thorn held the fedora he prized so heavily in his hand and inspected it for the slightest lint or dirt. He wouldn't want anything to mar the perfect outfit he had arranged now that he was a member of Darkfire. Since the initiation, which felt like ages ago, he had swapped his color palate from yellow and blues to more reds and oranges, which of course still paired with black. He had joined this organization and felt he should at least try to look the part. To those who knew Remy Dupris well, which was basically himself since no other humans were worth anything, it would be shocking that he would create any ties to an organization at all. However, something in the manner and aura that the institution possessed made him change his mind. Darkfire was a group that dedicated themselves to expansion of land and industrialization. Thorn had no interest in mechanical advancements, but more land meant more stores for him to acquire fashions from and less weakling Pokémon for weakling trainers to waste their efforts with. Therefore, it seemed logical that Thorn beat this dead Ponyta until it stopped spitting out money. Thorn had managed to make his way through the early days by himself... and with the help of... him.

Thorn glanced towards the slouching form of his 'partner', Edgar. They had been initiated on the same day and had worked together to spite the world and work their way up the ranks. Aside from the six Pokémon that Thorn had selected for their strength, Edgar was the closest thing that Thorn had to a friend. That wasn't saying much. Edgar was a brute with almost nothing going on between the ears and whose only solution to a problem was to beat the crap out of it. A true fool... normally Remy wouldn't even bother to give such a being the time of day. However, even a complete idiot could have a use, and a stopped clock was right twice a day. He'd put up with Edgar for now, and it was easier to deal with someone he understood than try to find another partner from....

"Hm, now that I think about it... Right about now, I think a lot of the members are downstairs battling. That's always a show worth seeing, so why don't I show you the way?"

... the masses. This imbecile had been blathering on about some type of introduction and tour. Thorn looked up at the one who was addressing them and ignored the impulse to raise his eyebrow and grimace in disgust. Social interactions like these were completely unnecessary, but Thorn had long ago mastered the art of faking emotion to strangers. Still, most of the other minions hadn't had the energy or will power to bring attention to themselves. This one was... different. Ignoring him would be foolhardy, but Thorn had no intention of being polite. He'd let the situation play out and see what advantages he could derive. He put on a completely chilling smile and responded in kind.

"Why that's very kind of you to offer."

Now they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Thorn had no love for the other grunts, for they were minions racing towards their role as minions. Sooner or later, Thorn would be an elite officer of this group and have no need to consort with the rabble. However, since they WERE in between missions, Thorn honestly had nothing better to do. He turned towards his caveman cohort.

"Well, my favorite Neanderthal, it would appear that there are a few trainers who think they're tough. Why don't we go down there and show them OUR idea of a fun battle?"

Thorn pulled out his pocket watch and checked the time. It was too early for tea anyway.

"I mean I don't have anything better to do..."

Edgar was sitting down at the corner table, while Thorn was leaning up against the backboard of booth opposite of Edgar and overlooking the other goons. With one leg crossed over the other, Edgar had his chin placed down on the table with his left hand lying flat out on the table’s surface in front of his face. His fingers were spread wide apart. In his other hand he held his switchblade, which he was stabbing at the table between each of his fingers in a quick and rhythmic fashion. His stabbing motion toward each of his fingers seemed to keep growing faster as time pressed on. The sides of his fingers were slightly cut and bleeding out onto the table, having wounded himself from missing the target. His eyes were jumping up and down, following the movements of the knife as it either cut against the table or sliced through the side of his fingers. His movements almost seemed possessed; nothing seemed to break him free from his trance and this little game was growing more dangerous the faster he wielded his switchblade around. Edgar's mind was completely void of any thoughts; he was taking in no information from the outside world either. All he could see was the knife moving and hear the dull sound each time it struck the table.

He was unaware that a new arrival had entered the room. The man's words turned to static that itched inside of Edgar's ear. With his upper body still slouched onto the table, Edgar lifted his shoulder towards his head and tried to rub at his ear to soothe the itch, his eyes still following the knife in his hand up and down as it continued to move between his fingers. He was in an subconscious and seemingly never-ending loop; moving back to the beginning of his hand when the knife passed by his little finger. Through his trance, however, he managed to readjust his legs and crossed them in the opposite direction. The movement caused Edgar's black trench coat to be pushed back over his hip, revealing the set of Poke Balls that were clipped to his belt. Edgar had rearranged his team earlier that day. He had kept the main core of his team and added in a few new recruits that needed the experience. Clipped onto his belt were the Poke Balls for his Houndoom, Sneasel, Gliscor, Steelix, Beldum, and Carvanha.

"Well, my favorite Neanderthal, it would appear that there are a few trainers who think they're tough. Why don't we go down there and show them OUR idea of a fun battle?"
The sound of Thorn's voice broke Edgar free from his trance, causing him to immediately stop slamming the table around his fingers with his knife, almost as if someone had just unplugged him. The blank look on his face started to fade as he blinked his eyes repeatedly, thoughts now beginning to drip back into his consciousness. He remained silent for a few moments, his thoughts still trying to reboot and process the words that had come out of his partners mouth. Edgar gazed down to his hand and raised an eyebrow curiously: his knife dangling just centimeters above the dead center of his middle finger. Edgar smirked. He lifted his head off of the table and straightened out his back then, with one hand, Edgar flipped the switchblade around between his fingers and closed it. He tucked the knife back into his pocket, then pressed his hands down against the surface of the table to boost himself up and out of the seat, leaving bloody smears behind on the tabletop.

He walked over to Thorn, shaking his wrist to whisk away the stinging sensation that were cut into his fingers.

"It will be fun to put the others in their place." said Edgar as the corners of his mouth twisted and contorted upwards onto his cheeks to form a manic grin. He didn't seem to catch Thorn's insult, however. Edgar looked down to his bag. He knew he needed to stop and sell his Grand Festival Cabinet Painting and Grand Festival Coin to one of the small stores located in headquarters before he followed the others down into the basement for training.

As they walked down the hallways, Edgar stopped at the shop. Thorn blinked, shocked by the fact his partner in crime was capable of having an original idea. Even a stopped watch was right twice a day. Reminded by his own wittiness, Thorn wound his own stopwatch to make sure it was functioning at maximum efficiency, just like every weapon in his arsenal. Thorn forked over his own Grand Festival items for cold hard currency. He had just about everything he needed now, and was looking to acquire the ultimate in luxury items: TMs. They made tutoring Pokémon complex and unusual moves so much easier. Thorn was reminded of the one that he had on him: Scald. None of his team could learn it now. Leviathan eventually would be able to, but not before his metamorphosis into a powerful aquatic nightmare. However, Edgar had just earlier been boasting about that new acquisition he had made. As long as they were going to be partners, it would behoove Thorn to make sure Edgar's team was running at top efficiency too. Since this TM was of the newer model that didn't break after use, there wasn't any real harm to Thorn using it on Edgar.

"By the way, that Carvanha you acquired... bring it out."

Thorn pushed a stray strand of hair out his view and looked at Edgar.

"It should learn Scald."

Hopefully Edgar wouldn't be a stubborn idiot and get all prideful. Teaching Edgar's Pokémon new tricks wasn't something he relished doing by any means, but Thorn realized he needed this giant until he could work his way up the ranks and grab the reins of Darkfire for himself. Besides, Edgar didn't really seem the intellectual type to do successful tutoring on his own. This was two nice things he was doing for the psychotic lummox in one day. The very thought of this made Thorn cringe. He'd have to go kick a sleeping grunt later to make himself feel better.

Edgar raised an eyebrow curiously as Thorn came into view in his peripheral vision. He placed the two items he had planned to sell on the counter before the clerk: his Grand Festival Coin and his Grand Festival Painting. The main behind the counter handed over a wad of cash that Edgar quickly thumbed through, just to make sure the exchange was accurate. He stood aside from the counter, smirking as he shoved billfold into his pocket with the rest of his cash. Looking up, that was when he noticed that Thorn was selling the exact same items as him. “Pffft,” Edgar laughed at the coincidence.

As Thorn consulted the clerk behind the counter, Edgar knelt down onto one knee and unclipped two Poke Balls from his belt with one hand. He held the two minimized Poke Balls between the gaps of his fingers and applied pressure, causing them to expand in size before releasing the two Pokémon that were contained in them: his Gliscor and his Sneasel. “Mistral and Eddie, I’ve got something for the both of you.” he said as he pulled his sleeve on his right arm, revealing the black PokéTech on his wrist. Edgar pressed a couple of buttons and brought up the menu for the Technical Machines that he had available on his person. He selected TM31 “[attack=Brick Break]” and selected the icons for both Mistral and Eddie that came up on the screen. A loading bar came up on his PokéTech and began to fill. 100% Complete.

“That’s all I needed.” Edgar said as he recalled his two Pokémon in their respective Poke Balls, having both learned a new fighting type move in their arsenal of attacks. With that finished and done with, Edgar clipped both of the Poke Balls back onto his belt. That was when he noticed Thorn walking up beside him.

Edgar stood up, brushing off his clothing as he looked over to Thorn. It appeared as if Thorn was willing to share one of his TM’s with Edgar’s Pokémon as well. "Sounds good to me." Edgar said as he pulled off his Carvanha's Poke Ball from his belt. He held the Poke Ball above his other hand and pressed the center button, releasing the Pokémon and allowing it to spawn in Edgar's hand. It took only a few seconds for Thorn to transfer the move contained on his TM to Edgar's little Carvanha (TM55 “[attack=Scald]”) . When they finished up with that, Edgar returned her into his Poke Ball as well, and the duo continued to make their way down into the basement where the other goons were battling.

Seiryu [icon=egg] [progress=17.5,25] 17.5/25

The two of you followed the group of newbies and the large, generous man down the hallway, he seemed to be heading toward the elevator. That much should have been obvious to the two of you, it was just a matter of which floor. As you approached a door, the two of you seemed to branch off slightly, and it didn't go unnoticed by the large man, somewhat surprisingly due to his seeming lack of care. "Oh, are you two heading to the shop first? We'll go on ahead, then. The battlegrounds are on floor B10 if you'd like to come down and watch, and I really recommend you do, haha." He chuckled slightly, before the small group continued onward without the two of you. Was this guy really a member of Darkfire? Even more than that, someone who had experience within the organization? Surely it clashed with the mental image you two had developed before you joined. In fact, the entire situation was probably somewhat of a culture shock, right?

Regardless, the two of you had business at the shop. Though the Midnight Ember Office Complex was a towering skyscraper one could spend weeks exploring and still not cover everything, with many restricted areas far beyond your level of access, you had become somewhat acclimated to the general feel of the area and the basic privileges provided to members of Darkfire, so it wasn't like you were completely lost. Turning to enter the shop, you two pushed open the tall, clear glass doors emblazoned with Darkfire's symbol and entered. Your eyes were met with a Darkfire grunt lazily leaning against a counter top and holding his head up within his palms, clearly bored with this job. As you entered, his eyes looked up and his mouth opened. "Welcome to the Darkfire Member Shop, don't steal anything or you'll die." His voice fell out monotone, as if he had said it thousands of times in the past. Various common shop items lined the shelves, such as produce or basic cleaning products. Further ahead, there seemed to be some basic Pokémon training gear; nothing fancy, just Poké Balls, Potions, and the like. The two of you were here for a reason, however, and would have none of that. Edgar walked up, dropping the Grand Festival Token and Grand Festival Painting on the counter in front of the man. He glanced down at the items, then back up at Edgar, who did not say anything at all. ". . . What, you sellin'?" The man spit out coldly, before standing upright. "Gimme a second. . . " He called out as he headed into a backroom. A couple minutes later, he returned with a thick wad of cash. He dropped it on the counter in front of Edgar, grabbing the two items and setting them to the side. This was when Thorn pulled out his own Grand Festival items. "More?" He muttered, sighing before he continued, "Alright, let me go get more money. . ." He once again went back to the back room, and a couple minutes later, returned with another stack of cash. "Where do you guys get these items anyway. . . ?" He spoke to himself, setting the cash on the counter and taking the items, placing them with Edgar's. "Will that be all. . . sirs?" He disinterestedly said, almost forcing himself to spit out the sir part. It is pretty clear he did not care if you actually had anything else or not.

Of course, you didn't, so the two of you left, several hundred dollars richer. Hey, may as well check out that battlefield thing, right? As the two of you made your way to the elevator, you were met with an extravagant steel fortress of a machine. It looked like this thing could take a ramming from a truck. After a few moments, there was a quiet beeping sound, as the thick metal doors slid open. Stepping inside, it was very clean and polished; you could even see your reflection in the walls. It was almost inhumane, though; there was no irritating elevator music, and the metallic vibe from it left quite the empty feeling. A towering list of buttons rest on the podium-like mounted display, equaling about forty floors in total. As you two knew which floor the battlegrounds were on, it was down to B10F you went. Descending downward and downward until you two eventually reached your destination, the doors slowly opened wide to reveal the battlefield. It probably wasn't what you were expecting.

It was an absolutely massive room. The ceiling towered over thirty feet into the air, and it seemed to stretch on for quite a distance. Cold, steel walls wrapped around the room's pavement ground, a much rougher flooring than the others in this building. Numerous trainers were battling throughout, a wide assortment of Pokémon slashing and tearing at one another viciously. There was another key component, however; blood. Though there weren't any puddles, the pavement ground was clearly stained a dark reddish color in numerous spots from the countless bloodthirsty battles that had taken place within this room. It was quite a contrast from the clean and sophisticated look Darkfire had displayed so far, it was brutal and all out. As you two stepped out of the elevators, the man from before greeted you. "Ah, you two made it!" He waved cheerfully, standing about ten feet away from the elevator with the rest of the newcomers. They were watching a nearby battle, which seemed to be coming to an end. The losing trainer was against an onslaught of attacks, a powerful Arcanine slinging a poor Furret around like a ragdoll. "S-Stop, you're really hurting it! We lose already, the battles over!" The losing trainer shouted, his voice filled with panic and worry. "Hurting it? Do you realize where you're at? If you can't handle this, you shouldn't be here. Arcanine, drop the rodent, I'm getting bored of this battle." The trainer spoke harshly, whipping out a Poké Ball and recalling the Arcanine.

Stepping off the battlefield, he walked over to the large man and group of newbies. "Showing the newcomers around once again? You should find something better to do with your time on days off." Despite the harshness in his voice, the large man seemed to chuckle joyfully at his words. "You're right, but I enjoy doing it, haha!" He then turned his attention to the two of you that had just entered. "You two were looking for a battle, right? You should battle Andy." The man who had just finished battling quickly spoke up in protest. "Oh come now, I was looking for something interesting, why would I battle fresh recruits?" He spat out, before pausing for a second. "However. . . a double battle could prove to be interesting. . . You, newbie." He turned as he spoke, motioning for one of the newcomers to come over with a flick of his fingers. The young man jumped nervously as he was called out, quickly rushing over to the man's side. "Y-Yes sir! What is it?" Andy paused for a moment, looking up and down at the recruit. ". . . Very well. We shall have a full 6 on 6 double battle, each of us using three Pokémon a piece. Come, we shall start now." Andy said affirmatively, walking over to the opposite side of the battlefield he had just finished using. The new recruit rushed over behind him, almost stumbling over his own feet and tripping. "Send out your Pokemon." He said to the recruit, grabbing at a Poké Ball at his side and tossing it out. With a flash of red, a Pancham appeared on the field, stomping at the ground before glancing around confused as he came to the realization he wasn't doing whatever he apparently thought he was.

The new recruit nervously juggled a Poké Ball in one hand for a moment before tossing it out, revealing yet another ball, a Jigglypuff. Andy refused to comment. "Very well, recruits, you may have choice of Pokemon. Do not disappoint like the rest, and this goes for you too." He spat out at the two of you, turning to face his partner with the final remark. So, what would the two of you use? This Andy guy seemed to be far more confident than his newcomer partner, who could barely keep hold of his Poké Balls.

Thorn raised his eyebrows at the tone of the shopkeep.

"Why NO good SIR. I would simply HATE to be a bother to you when you're so busy. Have a wonderful day."

As he turned away, he muttered. It was loud enough to be heard, but Thorn honestly didn't care.

"...imbecile."

Thorn then walked with Edgar towards the elevator. As the doors opened and shut, he waited for Edgar to push the button for B10. There wasn't any annoying music, so he at least didn't have much of a headache. Thorn then addressed his PokéTech, which informed him someone had shown interest in the Rock Incense he was carrying. He could acquire... a Nether crystal?? He had been searching for one for Phoenix for a while! Thorn immediately accepted the trade and equipped the Nether Crystal to Phoenix. The metallic look of the doors was enough to give a reflection, and Thorn noticed a solitary crumple on his shirt. As he straightened his collar, he addressed Edgar.

"You know, it seems that sometimes everyone I run into is a moron. The nerve of that shopkeep talking to us like that..."

Thorn tapped his feet on the elevator floor while waiting for it to get to the destination. He wondered if Edgar would realize that the insult included him too. Thorn figured that not even Edgar could miss that one, but the trainer had impressed him with his lack of conversational intellect before. Either way, after acquiring the money, Thorn was that much closer to being able to afford the TM for Sunny Day, which would assist all six of his Pokémon.

"Let's try and wrap this up quick, shall we? I know we don't have an OFFICIAL mission, but this little team building exercise that guy has in mind isn't exactly up my alley."

Upon getting to the floor, Thorn could not help but stare at the bloodstained floor. It was not clean, and didn't match the rest of the building at all. It was terrifying. And tacky.

Once he saw the wannabe thug mistreat the other newbies, he sighed and rubbed his temple with is finger. Another overconfident loser demanding power and might from those around him. It was a terrible shame that not all who sought power deserved it. What this blowhard needed was a deflating, and there was only one way to do that: with a battle.

"Look, I know all about your type. Big, loud, overzealous, sure of yourself, and dumb. I deal with this type of thing on a regular basis. In fact, the world is infested with your type, but believe me if battling you is the cure, then so be it. Trust me, my associate here would like nothing more than demolishing you and your little...minion there. He's quite good at it too."

Thorn almost dropped his jaw when the neophyte that this Andy selected sent out a Jigglypuff.

"I...I don't even..."

He sighed loudly. This was almost too much to handle. Still, with a weakling like this on the field, it presented an opportunity that Thorn couldn't overlook. Since it was 3 Pokémon each, and Thorn knew that obviously no one could match his intellect and strategy, he could use this off-tune Singing Pokémon as a chance to give Leviathan the levels he needed. Besides, the beserker Edgar would be ready for blood and send out one of his wicked Pokémon. Thorn reached for a Poké Ball at his belt. Thorn shrugged and closed his eyes.

"Such a disappointment. And here I thought you were actually going to provide a challenge."

Thorn didn't believe in bravado. This was fact. VIctory was already assured. He pressed the button and lazily tossed the ball into the air.

"Come forth, Leviathan."

The bright white light revealed the Magikarp that Thorn had seen the potential in. Thorn ignored the obvious laughter and quips that were likely to occur. They always seemed to happen when Leviathan entered the fray, but Edgar at least knew that when the Magikarp entered the fray, there was a plan. Hopefully he'd be able to use that space between his ears and pull together a rational thought. For now, Thorn addressed the most competent being in the room aside from himself.

"Leviathan, use [attack=Bounce] on the Jigglypuff, and then follow up with a [attack=Flail]."

Leviathan nodded...at least Thorn thought that he nodded. It was kind of hard to tell when the Magikarp was bouncing around on the floor.

The Many Faces of Crosse
The elevator doors slid open.

Edgar followed into the elevator after Thorn, turning around quickly on his heels once inside. With his back now facing the wall behind him, Edgar took a few steps forwards towards the row of glowing buttons. He raised an eyebrow, his hand hovering in front of the buttons for the elevator, as he tried to recall what floor it was that the battlegrounds was on. "B10." he murmured to himself as he pressed his index finger into the glowing button, causing the light behind it to fade. Edgar took a few steps back as he watched the massive steel doors slowly slide shut in front of him. He made a little smirk before shoving his hands down into his pockets. Edgar noticed Thorn moving around out of the corner of his eye, adjusting the collar of his coat. That was when he heard his partner speak up, causing Edgar to straighten out his back momentarily as he looked over to Thorn. "You know, it seems that sometimes everyone I run into is a moron. The nerve of that shopkeep talking to us like that..." said Thorn, his voice trailing off at the end. "Heh." laughed Edgar as he shrugged his shoulders, then turned to look at Thorn and smirked. "You must have a knack for attracting that kind of attention." The insult hidden behind Thorn's words managed to completely fly over Edgar's head. That was when Thorn began to impatiently tap his foot on the ground.

Pursing his lips, Edgar's eyes drifted down to Thorn's tapping foot. It was obvious that his partner was growing more agitated the longer he was being cooped up in this elevator shaft. Edgar lifted his head to look up at the electric sign positioned above the elevator doors, noting which floor they were on. Edgar sighed. They were almost there, but it seemed as if this elevator ride was going incredibly slow. As they continued to descend to the lower levels of the Midnight Ember Office Complex, the scraping sounds and loud bangs of battle could be heard echoing through the elevator shaft: they were almost there! A smile stretched across Edgar's face as excitement began to build in his chest. He began to laugh to himself softly. "Let's try and wrap this up quick, shall we? I know we don't have an OFFICIAL mission, but this little team building exercise that guy has in mind isn't exactly up my alley." commented Thorn, who also seemed to realize that they were just about to reach their destination. Edgar turned to look at his partner, smiling that creepy smile of his, and extended his arms outwards from his body. "Official mission or not, this shit's going to be fun." he laughed. "Besides, is spending time with me really that excruciating?"

The elevator beeped and the massive steel doors slid open.

With a smirk, Edgar stood aside and gestured with his arm for Thorn to exit the elevator first . He followed out after his partner, stuffing his hands down into his coat pockets, and began to look around the training battlegrounds for all Darkfire Recruits. The entire floor itself was massive. The walls and floor appeared to be made of steel and the ceiling stretched up above their head a couple of floors up. Edgar looked down at his feet at the floor that was covered in old dried in blood spatter. It was without a doubt that the B10 floor of the Midnight Ember Office Complex was in regular use. Looking up, Edgar noticed that Thorn had wandered off towards the man that they had met earlier in the lobby. Edgar trotted over to them and the crowd of new recruits that were eagerly watching the dozens of battles that were taking place before them. They appeared to be watching one battle in particular: one where an Arcanine was practically devouring a Furret.

"Ah you guys made it!" said a voice in the distance, distracting Edgar's attention away from the battle. Edgar looked up, noticing that the man from the lobby was welcoming them. A few moments later, the man was joined by the victor of the battle that all the new Darkfire Grunts had been observing. The two exchanged greetings and began to speak to one another. Edgar's attention immediately dissipated; he found his eyes wandering around the bloody room with a childish look of wonder on his face. He's quite good at it too." That voice again; Thorn was speaking. Edgar looked over towards his partner, who appeared to be lashing out at the man who had just finished his battle. Andy, was it? Edgar smiled and clenched his fists against his sides. "There will be nothing left when I finish with them." giggled Edgar.

Together the duo made their way to their side of the battlefield.

Edgar watched as his opponents as they took their own positions as well. It appeared as if the more experienced Darkfire member who went by the name of "Andy" had chosen a random newcomer to be his partner in this double battle. Edgar could feel his smile stretching across his face as he planted his feet firmly on the ground. The moment his opponents revealed their Pokemon, a predatory look began to glow in Edgar's eyes. He had found his prey and now the hunt was on. That was when he noticed Thorn moving beside him, releasing his own Pokémon onto the field. That god damn Magikarp. Even though he was still smiling, Edgar could feel his eyes roll around in his sockets. "Oh well!" he said aloud to himself. "More fun for me!"

Edgar furrowed his brow, still grinning from ear to ear, as he unclipped a Poke Ball from his belt and began to gently bounce it up and down in his hand. He looked down to the spherical mechanism, snickered, and then tossed it high over his shoulder. The Poke Ball broke open in a flash of red light that rained down over Edgar's body. A red silhouette began to form on Edgar's back, growing in shape in size as the Pokémon it released continued to materialize on Edgar's back. The crimson light faded as the Poke Ball snapped shut and fell back down into Edgar's cupped hand. Edgar could feel his Gliscor clinging to his back, with her head tucked down into his shoulder and her tail wrapping up around his waist. Mistral lifted her head, her eyes opening to reveal neon glowing orbs for eyes with daunting slits for pupils. Mistral wrapped her tail tighter around Edgar's waist and shrunk her body, as if she was trying to hide herself. Suddenly, however, she threw herself up and over Edgar's shoulder and opened her mouth -revealing rows of sharp jagged teeth as she hissed in her opponents general direction. Mistral withdrew her body again, shrinking behind Edgar's back but with her eyes still peering over his shoulder and glaring at her opponents. Edgar looked over his shoulder at Mistral, who wouldn't break her focused glare, and smirked.

Looking back to his opponents, Edgar brushed past his coat and clipped Mistral's empty Poke Ball back onto his belt. He then tilted his head to the left, rolling his eyes around in his sockets towards the same direction, and looked over at his partner Thorn with an eerie grin. "Don't worry; I'll carry you." he laughed, knowing Thorn's team was relatively less developed that Edgar's. Turning his head back to face his opponents, Edgar spoke to Mistral: "Let's get this started." The Gliscor raised her head from behind Edgar's shoulder, snarled at her enemies as if to warn them, and then climbed over Edgar's shoulder and jumped down and spread her wings. The Gliscor extended her winged arms before her, allowing her to hover in place before Edgar, while her tail whipped violently beneath her.

"Prioritize the Pancham," Edgar said as he tucked his hands back into his pockets and slouched his shoulders forwards. "Let's show him a fun time with and throw him around with an [attack=Aerial Ace]; hell, Mistral, lets **** him over and beat him with two." Edgar snickered to himself, his grin still seeming to stretch out further across his face. His eyes rolled around to look at his partner, Thorn, out of his peripheral vision. Edgar let out a sigh and pursued his lips for a moment. "Mistral when you've finished playing with your food, help out our buddy here and beat down the Jigglypuff with a [attack=Poison Jab]." Edgar looked over at Thorn and caught his eye and cracked a smile, knowing that it was probably killing Thorn knowing that he would need to rely on the power from Edgar's team to make it through this battle.

As you sent out your Pokemon, Andy scoffed. "A Magikarp? A Jigglypuff? Don't insult me, do they let anyone into Darkfire these days?" He spat out, glancing at the newbie before back at his Pancham. "We are disadvantaged. Pancham, Comet Punch. Do not hold back just because they are fresh." As your Pokémon moved in to attack, Pancham leaped into the air, his fists launching forward and with blinding speeds, pummeling the Gliscor repeatedly. The punches delivered swiftly and rapidly, Gliscor's body being filled with pain. It felt like the Pancham was beating him over the head with an iron bar. As the Pancham landed, Mistral recovered faster than expected, swooping down and slicing across Pancham's back, sending him rolling across the battleground and onto the floor. After that encounter finished, Leviathan bounced a few times in place, slowly gaining height with each bounce, before with one powerful push it ascended high into the air, never to be seen again.

Finally, Jigglypuff stood there, looking expectantly at its trainer. The newbie glanced down at Jigglypuff and back at the battle, before nervously shouting, "Um. . . Use. . . P-Play Nice!" The Jigglypuff then hopped happily over toward Mistral, leaped into the air, and embraced the Gliscor with its pink, squishy body. For a brief, brief moment, Mistral felt something overpower her. Perhaps battling was wrong, and they should really just be friends, dear and sweet together forever. . . Then Mistral realized that was really stupid and slammed the Jigglypuff with her tail, causing her to fall off and bounce across the ground, her body squeaking. This gave Pancham another opportunity to attack, however, as the panda suddenly appeared behind Mistral, slicing her with a Slash across the back. Angered and damaged, Mistral almost vanished to the naked eye, appearing behind Pancham immediately after. The weak Pokémon collapsed to the ground a moment later, defeated and down. That was when the great hero Leviathan descended from the skies, slamming into Jigglypuff and sending her flying into the air. As the Jigglypuff drifted down, its soothing voice echoed throughout the large room. Leviathan splashed in place, unaffected, but Gliscor dropped to the ground, falling into a deep sleep. If you looked around, you would notice that numerous Pokémon in different battles across the room has also started to drift to sleep, resulting in the angered shouting and groans of other trainers throughout the room.

Andy silently pulled out a Poké Ball and recalled Pancham. Grabbing another Poké Ball, it was a Dive Ball. Tossing it out, the Pokémon inside was released with a splash of water circling it, the effect vanishing afterwards. It was a large, powerful Cloyster, clamping its shell menacingly as if it were eating something alive. Well, that was certainly an upgrade from the Pancham he was just using. Luckily for you two, he was still being held back by the pathetic newbie and his Jigglypuff, so it wouldn't be as challenging as it would be if it were just him.

Thorn had a lot to process in the last five seconds. As expected, the Pancham was completely and utterly destroyed by Edgar's Gliscor. What was even more amusing was the quivering idiot's attempts to 'play nice' with such a menacing and vicious creature. In fact, it was so laughable that Thorn couldn't help but snicker as he clasped his hands together mockingly.

"Look, Edgar! The Jigglypuff wants to be your Mistral's best friend! That is so aDORable!"

However, Leviathan's Bounce attack was no laughing matter. The Jigglypuff's air gave it more directions to spread its song, luring just about everything into slumber in the room. Once again, Thorn managed to cast a bemused glance at all the grunts that had inadvertently been victims to the Sing attack. Leviathan, however, kept flopping around as energetically as before. At least his Magikarp had the sense not to get taken by Mr. Sandman to dreamland. However, his partner's Pokémon had not been so fortunate. Thorn focused hard to try and ignore what would likely be a plethora of obscenities from his left.

What was even more unfortunate was the bright white flash of light that revealed the clearly strong Cloyster. Thorn was intrigued that this rage-filled barbarian had rushed the evolution so quickly, limiting the water move pool of the Pokémon down to only the strongest water move possible. It was just the kind of move that Thorn despised: one obviously devoid of strategy and filled with impatience. Still, he could not ignore the potential threat that the shelled Pokémon presented.

"Well, that's vexing."

If anyone expected any more signs of fear or awe out of Thorn, then they were complete idiots. The icy nature of the beast before him was no match for the cold-hearted nature of the young man standing across from it. Thorn knew that despite any bravado that Andy might come up with, there would be no changing of the simple fact that even if they weren't as high leveled, his Pokémon and brain were vastly superior. As far as Thorn was concerned, this battle was still firmly in his hands, even if he had to deal with his own handicap of a partner. Thorn let the hatred build up in his eyes, and they sent that cold ocular fire right across the way towards the current target of his disgust.

"Awww, it seems like he's upset that his Pancham didn't last as long as my Magikarp. Guess Adam here wants to finally start taking it seriously, even with that Ash Ketchum of a partner he has over there."

Thorn kept his silver tongue lashing like a fencer's foil. It was common knowledge that the best poker players never played their hands: they played their opponent's. Thorn wanted to do everything in his power to throw Andy off his game. One should never underestimate the power of the mental game of the trainers in a Pokémon battle. If a trainer lost his or her cool, it could easily mean the difference between a victory and defeat. Besides, Thorn knew personally how losing to a Pokémon one had no respect for could damage the psyche. He suffered a quick flashback to that wretched, damned Skitty before collecting himself once more. After all, now was NOT the time to lose his head. He had one more order of business to attend to before thinking ahead to the next moves; one more attempt to throw a Mankey wrench into the cogs of his foe's battle mechanisms. Thorn addressed the young, shaking partner of Andy.

"If I were you, boy, I'd remember there's no shame in recognizing a superior force. You should go hit the books again and come try to play with the grown-ups when you think you're ready."

Hopefully that would cause enough chaos to buy them some time. Thorn looked down at Leviathan, who was patiently flopping awaiting orders. The young Saffron native knew unfortunately that in its current state Magikarp was no more of a damage dealer than a Kakuna in this fight. He once again glanced over at the slumbering Gliscor, and unfortunately came to the only reasonable conclusion that could be done for this round. Thorn clenched his fist in his pocket. He HATED doing this, but he'd have to once again go out of his way to...ugh...help Edgar. Knowing the movepool of his ally's Gliscor, there was a chance that if it managed to rouse itself it could do some decent damage to shelled menace. The imbecile and his Jigglypuff only had sleep in their arsenal, and were very clearly not a threat. Thorn would simply have to have Leviathan bite the bullet and stall for time. It was the only move he had. He calmly let the orders hiss out of the corners of his mouth.

"Leviathan, I want you to flop in front of Mistral and defend it. Block any attacks the Cloyster throws at her."

The Magikarp almost stopped flopping momentarily. Leviathan couldn't believe that he heard those orders come out of his master's mouth. This type of sacrificial move was usually something that he heard mocked from Thorn. He looked up quizzically to make sure that Thorn hadn't suddenly been taken with a bout of madness. Thorn in response snapped his glare down at Leviathan.

"You have your orders."

Leviathan knew that tone too well. If Thorn thought that this was the best strategy, then he was certainly not going to question it. He once again got back to flopping on the ground emphatically in support of his master's strategies. Thorn kept clenching his fist and with a voice smooth as silk but sharper than a saber, he addressed Edgar.

"Edgar, be a lamb and wake that beast of yours up. The Cloyster should be punished."

"Ha, way to go kid." laughed Edgar, placing his hand on his hip as he looked around at all of the Pokémon in other battles start to drift off to sleep. One by one, another Pokémon hit the ground. Edgar snickered as he heard the commotion from the other trainers who had their battles disturbed by this absentminded Darkfire Grunt. Shaking his head, Edgar laughed again before returning his focus to battle, only to see Mistral falling out of the air and crash onto the ground. Still smiling, Edgar felt his eye twitch. "Mother ****ing punk ass little shit!" yelled Edgar at the rookie Darkfire Grunt, slamming his foot down onto the ground as he felt a tantrum growing inside of him. "Ohhh I will so ****ing cut you when we're done." he snarled, reaching instinctively towards the grip of his knife sticking out of the holster on his belt. Edgar wasn't getting his way. Rage and slight homicidal tendencies began to flood through his system, cracking away at the protective barrier that restrained his psychopathy from spilling out too much into his everyday life. Screws were coming loose.

"Well, that's vexing." said Thorn. Edgar shot him a glare out of the corner of his eye as he clenched his teeth and his upper lip quivered in a snarl.

The sound of Thorn's voice faded into static as Edgar began to fixate on his frustrations. He could see the smug look on his face as his partner taunted and mocked their opponents, but Edgar could't hear. All he could see was red. All he could feel was rage. All he could hear was thoughts blasting in his head like a clip played on fast-forwards. His eyes darted back and forth as he tried to focus his thoughts into something constructive, but to no avail.

Edgars breathing was getting slightly heavier. He snapped his eyes shut, holding back his rage, until he decided to let it all out. "Mistral, would you kindly WAKE THE **** UP." Edgar yelled, slamming his foot on the ground once more as the static faded from his hearing. Clenching his fists at his sides, Edgar quickly thought over his options. "Wake up right ****ing now and beat that Cloyster with four[attack=Brick Break]s or so help me!" he hissed at his Pokemon.

BEEP BEEP. Suddenly Edgar's PokéTech beeped with a trade offer. He glanced down at the device on his wrist for a split second and tapped the accept button, trading cash for a new Pokemon.

As Edgar cursed violently at the newbie and threatened him with physical harm, the boy seemed to cower slightly in reaction to it. Andy scoffed and glared at the boy, a look of disappointment in his eyes. "If this is all it takes to scare you, then you are truly in the wrong business." He spoke, before turning his attention back to the battle. It was then that Thorn gave out his commands to the Magikarp, who proceeded to flop somewhat nervously in front of the sleeping Gliscor. However, he knew that the Cloyster was powerful, and would probably destroy him if given the chance. Still, he knew, regardless of the dangers, that disobeying Thorn's orders was a true death wish. Plus, when had his master proven him wrong in the past? As Andy saw this, he chuckled. "Wonderful amusement you're putting out here, but do you really believe your little koi can stop my Cloyster? It is sheer foolishness to think such a thing." He spat out, before glancing at his Cloyster and continuing. "Cloyster, charge the Gliscor and use [attack=Clamp]." Without a moment's hesitation, the large shelled monster floated forward at quick speeds, slamming into the Magikarp and sending him flying away toward the edges of the battlefield, tossing him away like a used rag doll, as if he wasn't even there. Opening his shell wide, it clamped down onto the Gliscor, lifting him into the air and pinching him in his tight shell, squeezing the life out of the Mistral.

Whether due to Edgar's little tantrum, or the intense pain currently coursing through its body, it was enough to awaken the sleeping Gliscor. Rage and pain- mostly pain- filled Mistral's body as she cried out her name aggressively, her claw glowing with pure energy. She slammed it against the Cloyster's skull, giving him quite the shock. She then squirmed and twisted to get out, but the shelled monster's grip was too much. It was then that the newbie decided to act, apparently over his fear. "Umm. . . U-Use. . . [attack=Sing]! Just keep singing Jiggles!" He shouted, probably much to the dismay of everyone. Nonetheless, the Jigglypuff's soothing voice chimed across the battlefield, though it was not amplified nearly as much this time. The splashing Magikarp slowly drifted to a halt as the frequency quickly dropped to zero, it drifting off into a small slumber. Aside from that, the Cloyster also stopped floating, dropping ever so slightly to the ground and asleep. Mistral still wasn't able to escape, however, as the Cloyster's tight grip squeezed the life out of her even further. Andy was baffled. "Why, I. . . You. . . Imbecile!" Was all Andy could shout, his voice clearly showing he was somewhat ruffled by this turn of events. The boy simply looked at everyone, embarrassed and silent. He really messed up this time, didn't he?

Unable to escape the Cloyster's grasp, Mistral had nothing to do but Edgar's favorite strategy; Hit it again. Her claw surging with energy, she brought it down on the Cloyster's skull again, a loud cracking noise echoing across the field upon impact. However, once again, the tightened grip did not let go, and Mistral felt the life inside fading away. She looked incredibly weak and tired, too. After this, the Jigglypuff used Sing a second time. Most of the field was asleep, but now, Mistral drifted off to sleep once more, causing everyone on the field to fall asleep except Jigglypuff. Luckily for Mistral, as it dozed off, it seemed Cloyster's grip loosened slightly, possibly due to the sleep, and the Gliscor slowly slid out and onto the ground directly in front of them. Jigglypuff continued Singing, despite the fact that everyone on the field was already dreaming away. It was pretty pointless and only really served to annoy everyone further.

Well. . . this certainly was an awkward situation, wasn't it? I thought this was a battle, not nap time. I can't believe people take Darkfire seriously as an organization with members like these.

Thorn sported an evil smile. The eyes which had been full of hatred a second ago were now full of condescension and amusement. Thorn chuckled a joyless, gentle laugh and held his hands up apologetically.

"My my, with master strategies such as that, it's clear that you are FORMIDABLE foes! Isn't that right, Edgar?"

He clapped his hands together sarcastically, the tone of his voice dripping with disdain.

"If only we were so lucky as you, Arnold, to have such a super strong trainer to grace us with his presence! What a wonderful maneuver!"

Thorn placed one arm across his chest, and rubbed his chin with the other hand. Just about every Pokémon in the room had fallen asleep, including Leviathan. Andy was obviously enraged at his partner for continuing to utilize Sing. Odds were that Sing would put the Cloyster to sleep eventually. The issue was that both Mistral and Leviathan had fallen for the siren song as well. It wasn't exactly the ideal situation, but it could've been a lot worse. He'd keep unleashing verbal barbs if it helped throw the angry opponent off his game. Thorn looked down at the little Magikarp, who was much less active than it was before.

Leviathan had done his job wonderfully. Even though Thorn despised assisting anyone but himself, he had managed to keep the Gliscor alive for now. However, despite his best efforts the stupid thing had fallen right back to sleep. Thorn bit his toungue and tried his best to keep his cool. He knew that his partner would be absolutely going crazy screaming at his Pokémon. He maintained his sarcastic smirk and glanced to the side. Even if Edgar was pissed, Thorn couldn't help but let a snide comment out.

"I wasn't aware we were having a slumber party. I thought the plan was for your Pokémon to stay awake, correct me if I'm wrong of course. After all, I can't protect you ALL the time."

Now came the question of what to do next. The neophyte was quaking in his boots and looking like he could pass out at any given moment. The battle was still managing to go their way thanks to his sheer incompetence. Thorn shook his head. What was he saying? Of course they were winning! He was the smartest person in the room, after all. The Cloyster was the biggest threat on the field right now, but one or two more attacks and that would be all for the annoying water type. Thorn speculated that if he managed to wake Leviathan up, the best bet would be to try and block hits for Mistral again. Thorn turned his gaze down to his Pokémon, realizing this was the calmest he'd ever seen Leviathan acting before. Hopefully his words would penetrate the fish's thick skull and make it to some layer of subconscious understanding.

"Leviathan. Wake up. Now. Get in front of her and try to defend again. After your two defensive attempts, use a Strike attack on the Jigglypuff."

The quiet volume that his words possessed did little to reveal the malice and desire to prove himself. Thorn didn't give a damn about any one else's opinion, but he truly desired to allow these wretched losers to realize just how pathetic they were. After all, he was winning this battle with a mere Magikarp.

The Many Faces of Crosse
Throwing his shoulders back, Edgar tilted his chin upwards towards the ceiling and let out the ball of air that was beginning to put pressure on his chest. As his breath rose up from his lungs, the rage and wrath that polluted his body rose up along with it, twisting and twirling around carbon dioxide that was traveling up his trachea. The breath left Edgar's slightly agape mouth as if a poltergeist was leaving his body; he could feel himself become in control once more as his demons were exercised from his body.

Edgar rolled his head around on his neck so that it was now bowed and his chin was up against his chest. The feeling of relief was intoxicating. The tantrum was over and he was finally free, for now. Edgar had to blink his eyes a few times before his consciousness connected to the real world once more. Slowly, he lifted his head up and gazed out at the scene in front of his with dead looking eyes. His memories began to reel as he recalled the previous events: Mistral had broken free from her slumber and had managed to beat her opponents before drifting off to sleep again. Edgar pushed his shoulders back, straightening out his posture. Mistral was asleep again.

Rather than being overcome with rage once gain, Edgar appeared to be relatively calm. He looked around and noticed that not only was Mistral asleep, but Leviathan and the enemy Cloyster were put to sleep as well. Almost as if on cue, the corner of Edgar's lip twirled up into a smirk. His wide and vacant eyes narrowed as life began to pour back into them. The smile upon his face continued to stretch higher onto his cheekbones as he slouched forwards to his normal posture, tucking his hands in his pockets again. His eyes widened slightly as he heard Thorn's voice ring up from beside him. He had forgotten all about Thorn with his tantrum from earlier. "My my, with master strategies such as that, it's clear that you are FORMIDABLE foes! Isn't that right, Edgar?" The young man's head slowly, and jaggedly, turned towards his partner Thorn as if his bones were rusted. Edgar parted his lips and revealed his square-toothed smile underneath. Turning his attention back towards his opponents, Edgar looked over towards the rookie Darkfire Grunt. "You stupid mother ****er!" Edgar laughed to himself, bemused with the fact that he had inadvertently put his ally to sleep as well.

Looking over at Thorn out of the corner of his eye, Edgar snickered as his partner continued to mock the inexperienced trainer.

However, Edgar's giddy demeanor dropped suddenly as Thorn spoke up once more. "I wasn't aware we were having a slumber party. I thought the plan was for your Pokémon to stay awake, correct me if I'm wrong of course. After all, I can't protect you ALL the time." It was a snide remark. Edgar scowled at Thorn, his upper lip twitching slightly to form a snarl. Pulling a hand out of his pocket, Edgar point over at Thorn with his index finger. "At least I'm not using a dumbass Magikarp!" he snapped in Thorn's general direction, his finger moving from pointing at Thorn to now pointing at the slumbering fish sprawled out at his trainers feet. Pulling his other hand out of his pocket, Edgar shook his head and put his palms out, trying to refocus before blinding murderous tendencies attempted to take over one more.

That was when, however, he heard Thorn call out his commands for the next round of battle. Dropping his hands back down to his sides, Edgar smiled, and turned back to look at Thorn with a bemused look. "That's about the only thing you're good for, ain't'cha?" he laughed. Giggling to himself, Edgar returned his attention to the battle at hand. He had to get Mistral up. Again. "MISTRAL!" he yelled out to his Pokémon in a low, scratchy sounding tone. "Stop dicking around! I need you to wake up. Right. ****ing. Now." Edgar pointed an index finger down towards the ground as he slammed his foot on the floor. The slumbering Gliscor twitched in her sleep. Rolling his eyes, Edgar shouted at his Pokemon: "Get in there and strike that ****ing ass Cloyster down with [attack=Brick Break] after [attack=Brick Break] after [attack=Brick Break] until it's good and ****ing dead!" Edgar clenched his fists at his sides and glared at his unconscious Pokemon.

Tension filled the air as the intense battle raged on, a clear victor still uncertain in the heated fight. ". . . My name is Andy." He snarled at Thorn, his tone aggressive and angry in nature. He then glared over at the newbie, daggers shooting at the young boy and causing him to flinch up in pain. "Do not use Sing again." He commanded, before turning back to face Cloyster. "Cloyster. Hydro Pump." He plainly barked out, free of the frilly flavor accenting his language before. Thorn seemed to be really getting on his nerves now, that was for sure. The combatants all stared down one another, waiting to see who would make the first move. It was like a good ol' Texan shootout, with the quick hand cowboys gripping their guns loosely, their trigger finger itching to make the first mark. You couldn't get too impatient though, or that was one tango you'd dance right out of and straight into the barn.

Well, it would have been, if it weren't for the fact that everyone was asleep. In fact, they were so asleep that they didn't even seem to budge by your commands. The Jigglypuff, who had since stopped singing, looked back at his trainer, curious what his next command would be. "Um. . . u-use Pound, Jiggles! On the Gliscor!" With a happy, cheery tone, the Jigglypuff hopped over to the Gliscor's side. Winding back his stubby arm dramatically, he lunged forward with an exclamatory "Puff!!!", violently smacking the Gliscor upside its skull. The peaceful rest had transformed into an eternal rest as the Gliscor went down, defeated.

"Cloyster, Hydro Pump. Now." Andy barked out again, but the shelled beast continued to sleep the day away. It was time for the true battle to begin, however. As the Gliscor went down, Leviathan's eyes shot open. Instantly splashing into the air, he flew across the battlefield, smacking Jigglypuff in the face with his fin and knocking him aside. "Jiggles, use Pound on it!" The newbie called out, seemingly more confident sounding than before. Perhaps taking Gliscor down did something to his confidence. As the Magikarp smacked Jigglypuff, his pink, squishy body inflated, puffing out to show an angry face. "Pufffff!!!!" She cried out, bringing her hand down to slam against the Magikarp and send him bouncing off the ground and into the air, landing and bouncing back across the ground like a rock skipping across water.

Andy's voice was heard louder than before as he shouted angrily, "Cloyster, Hydro Pump! Now!" He bluntly ordered, his voice louder and angrier than it once was. Seems he wasn't happy that things weren't entirely going his way. The Cloyster did not awaken, and instead continued to snooze away. Guess beating the Gliscor left it a little shell shocked, huh? It needed a little rest time before it could shell out all of these attacks it was being ordered to do.
