James grinned and leaned down to stroke Fairwind's vivid fur as he strolled leisurely along the beach. "Sure is a difference from Miracu, isn't it?" he muttered to him. "Can you even believe that weather as beautiful as this existed?" James asked him, and the Electrike, seeming to understand, shook its head in a happy way. James sighted a large, dry rock, baked by the heat of the sun, jutting out from the sands of the beach, and quickened his pace as he headed towards it. He reached it and decided to take a quick rest, leaning against it lazily, as he grinned once more despite his efforts to keep serious, the happiness and lack of cares of everyone here, him included, touching his heart. "It's such a pretty place to be." he said, and sighed, as Fairwind nudged his leg, wanting to use the opportunity to run free. He had never felt so carefree in years, after finally escaping from the dank, oppressive atmosphere that constantly permeated Miracu Island, the rains bringing with them a sort of eternal misery that many of the residents always took with them. As he rested, regaining his strength, tired already by the baking sun that overlooked the whole scene, he took the opportunity to shield his eyes and take a look across the whole area from his vantage point. His Vision now improved, he caught sight of a collection of magnificent sandcastles, built by many children and their pokemon partners. All were very impressive, but one particularly dominated, a palace that was more fortress than anything, so awe-inspiring was its size and grandeur. It was built by a young boy and his Seel, and James was, once again, hugely impressed by the things people could achieve, no matter how young their age, through their bonds with pokemon. He was touched by how many of these children had formed such strong, perhaps even unbreakable bonds, with their friends, just as James had done many years ago with his partner Fairwind, who even now still served to trust in him, and protect him with each passing day. But as the kids looked on proudly at their handiwork, something rather more sinister rose from the sea. It was a lowly Tympole, and no-one may have paid it any mind, but it was clear immediately from the growl that escaped its lips that it wasn't here to bask in the summer sun. It turned to the line of sandcastles, looked at them with disgust, and immediately began a trail of destruction, taking down each one methodically and efficiently as the startled, helpless children looked up. Eventually, it reached the end of the line, culminating in the Fortress that had so impressed James, and it sniffed at it, indignified, before slamming its powerful, muscled tail into it, splitting it into two in one blow. Needless to say, it was ruined. The kid gasped and cried out in shock, too startled to act, but to its credit, his partner, the Seel, did not stand for what the Tympole had done. It cried in rage and dived onto it, in what became a Vicious, but ultimately-short lived fight, wherein the Seel tried to hold the Tympole under its superior bulk, but soon enough, the difference in experience became clear, and the Seel, who had hardly hurt anything in its life, fell victim to the swift bites and whacks of the experienced fighter, the Tympole, and eventually, the Tympole turned, and delivered a brutal blow with its tail to the face of the Seel, sending it flying a short distance, onto the wreckage of the sandcastle, where it collapsed, fainted. The Kid instantly began crying, and it ran to the aid of its buddy, helpless to stop the Tympole which continued its destruction. Jack grimaced. "Alright, that's the final straw..." he said grimly. "There's always be got to something that spoils it." he said, sighing, thinking this mainland perhaps wasn't so different from Miracu after all. But soon, his sadness had receded, to be replaced with cold irritation. His mind was made up. He might've been wanting to avoid fights until he'd got his bearings, on this strange, yet inviting land, but this was different. Whether or not he wanted this fight, James refused to just sit idly while a lowly Bully got its way. "Fairwind, do you see that?" he said, pointing. Fairwind caught sight and immediately growled loudly in a showcase of anger and aggression, quickly disgusted by the dishonorable behavior of the Tympole. He could hardly keep still, so enraged was he. "I don't think I could stop you trying, but should we try and cease its bullying ways?" he asked, and Fairwind bobbed his head and growled softly in agreement with his master. "Besides, there isn't much of a better way to get your feet on the right track than helping people, eh? Reward or no reward." Jack chuckled, despite himself. "Treasure hunting can wait, I can't just let this poor group of kids be terrorized by that Tympole." Fairwind wasn't so patient, and after seeing the Tympole turn back from the Seel to continue its "Rampage", he set off at a quick run through the sand. James smiled. Fairwind's vigor and bravery, not pausing even after seeing the damage the Tympole had inflicted to his last challenger, the Seel, never seized to impress him with each day that passed. James took off his heavy Jacket and laid it carefully on the rock, before rolling up his shirt sleeves and taking powerful strides across the pale yellow, grainy sand. He was near the area now and he felt a good, warm feeling as some of the kids looked up at him, pointed and smiled in relief. He just hoped he wouldn't let down their expectations, but he had trust in Fairwind and knew in his heart he would win this day. However, he would care to make sure he did not underestimate such an opponent, no matter how humble, and he frowned as he saw the Tympole turn and face him with a mad chitter and try to repulse him with a frown of its own, before turning back to its handiwork. James really hoped he could convince the Tympole to quit its ways, but as he chewed his lip he knew, looking at its behavior, that this was becoming more and more unlikely by the minute. He had to go there now before it got more arrogant still. "Alright Fairwind, I know you're raring to go, but let's try and take this peacefully, first, Okay?" He said to him. Fairwind gave a little growl of disappointment but bounded back and changed its aggressive posture to a more supportive one. He moved closer and grabbed the hostile Tympole's attention with a cry of "Hey, you bully! You get away from those kids right now!" with his Electrike close at his heel, offering a low growl of support for James' words. "If you're not going to stop upsetting that poor little guy, I'll have to step in..." he said, a firm tone of disapproval in his voice. He implored the Tympole to move away from the fainted Seel, and stop its violent ways, with a hard look, but at the same time made himself ready for any possible fight that may ensue. 'Cause it's not like Bullies, especially such an underhanded, lowly one, were famed for listening to reason, after all. Edited by Shotte, Feb 25 2013, 11:23 AM.

Quite impressively fleshed out there. Millenia Town - Beach Front Mid-Morning Sunny Well, isn't this a surprising turn of events. Normally, a Pokémon trainer would go in all guns blazing, hoping to oust the wild opponent that had been unfortunate enough to step into their path. However, here you are, trying to amicably convince this Tympole to head back into the water and leave the toddler alone. Admittedly, as you have suggested, it looks that little bit unlikely that this little Tadpole Pokémon would be inclined to listen to your words. After all, he's a wild one, and you're a trainer - he'd assume you want to catch him, wouldn't he? More importantly, this little guy was nothing short of a bully, having upset that little kid. Quite unabashedly, too - it almost seemed like he didn't even care about the damage he had caused! Naturally, the toddler's mother had picked up on the tears from her little one, recalling the unconscious baby Seel from the shallow pool as she picked up her son. "Come on Lee, let's get you home," the mother calmly muttered, hugging him tightly - before noticing the mess the wild Tympole had caused to the sandcastle. "Don't you worry, I've got a photo of your sandcastle - you did a wonderful job," she added, taking a camera out of her pocket to show the picture to her son - which, thankfully, prompted a small cooing noise from the toddler, who was visibly pleased at seeing his creation on screen. It wasn't the same as seeing the real thing (I doubt his mother will have told him that nothing lasts forever), but at least there was some record of his efforts with the baby Seel by his side. With the young toddler named Lee away from the scene, it now gave you a bit more of an opportunity to talk with this Tympole, who was still raging around the remains of the castle. As much as you tried to convince the Tadpole Pokémon to cease his attacks, there was no response - it almost seemed like he was too busy striking the sandy shore to give a damn about your words. I suppose there's only one way of taking care of this trouble-making wild one. Let the fight begin!

It was clear a stand-off was about to begin. The sun, before seeming to gently caress James, now seemed arid and unpleasant, the tension causing him to sweat, and not only from the son. He really didn't want to start a fight, least of all in a public place like this, surrounded by many vulnerable children, who even now looked on upon him with varying expressions of shock and horror. But this wasn't the case for all of them, and Jack felt his Spirits lift a bit as he heard some kid shout his approval. His hopes, however, of escaping unscathed decreased further and further by the minute. With every passing moment the Tympole grew more violent, more disdainful, further beyond reason, and even Fairwind, despite the discipline James had taught him, was by now itching for a fight - barely restraining itself from assaulting it without any commands, its primal instincts instructing him to assert his authority, but its training stopping him, fortunately, from doing so. James sighed, somewhat relieved, as the Toddler's mother came to help her child, and get her out of this area quickly. At least the little boy seemed a little less upset - He might've been a total stranger, but he couldn't bear to see him in such a state. But despite himself, he felt a slight twinge of annoyance as the Mother strolled off without so much as a nod of thanks to James, a bit ignorant considering even now James had his ass on the line in defense of her child. This whole situation had made James more than a little grumpy, and he grimaced as he thought -If that woman had stayed close enough to her kid in the first place, none of this would've happened.- But James repressed his negative feelings, scorning himself for even allowing them to surface in the first place. He was in what he was in now, and he had to make the best of it, and he could at least take comfort in the fact that he had made one guy happy. The Toddler and his mother now safely out of range, as well as most of the bystanders gone, having lost interest, James pressed on with his attempts to convince the Tympole to stop its manic behaviour. But it was soon clear, just as it had been from the start, that no matter what, it wasn't gonna give up its ways. Now that everyone was gone, it was clear there wasn't even a point to its destruction - Yet still, it soldiered on. It "Paced" up and down the shoreline quickly and aggressively, slamming whatever it could find intermittently with its powerful tail. It seemed completely berserk. "That thing's crazy..." James muttered, somewhat worried, and even his Electrike seemed somewhat unsettled. Soon, however, the Tympole had discovered that by striking mere sand and algae, it was causing little inconvenience to anyone, and it turned to find a new target to prey on, to sate its desire for destruction, or, more accurately, considering its diminutive size, determination to be a slight inconvenience for those in the area. James sighed. He was disappointed by the immaturity of this creature, and he had half a mind to just leave it, alone and angry, where it stood, but he reasoned that it would be unfair to allow it to attack anyone else, not to mention that leaving didn't seem like much of an option then, as it eyed up Fairwind, and chittered menacingly, approaching him slowly. It was clear it was fed up of these distractions and delays. It wanted to fight. "Well, if that's the way you want to play it..." James said, chuckling to himself, "Then, Fairwind, it's time for us to begin our time here, by going in hard." He said, pointing a finger to the creature. Fairwind set off like a greyhound, glad to finally be released from its forced passive state, and itching to show his dominance in battle. With a single, lightning-fast leap, Fairwind had cleared the distance between them in a moment, and he grinned, baring his teeth at his new foe, growling in an aggressive, battle-ready manner as he did so. Fairwind couldn't wait to pay it back for all of its foul dealings, because to him, he felt this was personal. He was a hound that constantly sought out and sought to defeat the strongest adversaries, and as such, he was disgusted beyond measure by a coward that, instead of testing itself, chose to instead target the weak and peaceful. The Tympole was caught off guard by Fairwind's fast advance, giving James time to shout commands to his partner. "Alright Fairwind, I know you've been looking forward to this. Let's strike hard, fast, and true. I want you to start off with a quick launch of Thunder wave, to knock that thing off balance and dull its re-actions, and then I want you to follow up with as many Tackles as you can get off, before it's ready to counter-attack!" he roared, encouraging the Electrike and stoking its will to fight. ((Meaning, if I can use my 3 move turn straight off the bat, I go for Thunder wave - Tackle - Tackle, but I wasn't sure if I can do this. Otherwise just wave - tackle.)) Despite himself, James was pretty excited. "We're going to school this stupid Tympole!" he said. "Full aggression! Attack at every opportunity, dodge where you can, and punish it for each and every mistake it makes! We have defeated far greater foes than this - And I have no doubt you will be victorious once again!" But while James's words may have echoed overconfidence, a great deal of it was false. His Fairwind loved to be inspired, so loving of the heat of battle it was, but within himself, James made sure to keep calm and down-to-earth. -Overconfidence, however, can be the seed of defeat.- He reminded himself. -But so long as I keep Electrike on the move...- Jack contemplated, -I think we may have this one in the bag. The terrain may be unfamiliar to Electrike, but sand or no sand, I reckon it can run rings around that dumb Tympole any day of the week.- He thought to himself, and allowed a slight grin as the battle commenced. Alternia's Old Man

. : Millenia Town . : Beach Front . : Mid-Morning . : Sunny The sun shone down brightly, motes of light dancing off the surf. A gentle breeze brought cool mist off the sea to your face. The sounds of the surf would normally be enough to lull someone to sleep, but not here, not now. Instead an immature Pokemon acted like it was king of the monsters. We all know there’s only one King of the Monsters, and he’s much bigger then this tadpole. Fairwind leapt at the fishy pokemon, yellow static arcing from his green fur. The Thunder Wave struck home, and the black and blue pokemon went ridged with Paralysis. Fairwind wasn’t finished though. Oh no. The electric pokemon charged through the surf, and slammed his shoulder against the Tympole. The Tackle was successful, but the fish struck back. He opened his mouth, and ear-splitting noise began assaulting everyone nearby. The attack was a miss! Fairwind had quick reflexes, and saw the attack coming. By the time the Tympole made it’s attack, Fairwind had sloshed through the surf to a new location. Now he raced in again, catching the fish off-guard, and landed a powerful hit. Tympole’s face scrunched up, and the little monster Growled. This time, there was no avoiding it. Your pokemon flinched, almost afraid to be near this noisy creature. You had a bit of a lead, but the battle was far from over. What now trainer?

The scene was almost ironic, the bright sun continuing to shine, the ocean as beautiful as ever. It was a perfect beach day. But this stretch, at least, was almost deserted. Spray showered the beach, but not only from the waves breaking against the tall, smooth rocks. In the shallows, what at first appeared to be two Pokemon happily playing was in fact an unfriendly, unwelcome battle. No-one wanted a part of it, except Fairwind, who despite showing signs of tiring pushed onward, growling and snarling as he did so, his trainer, James, and of course, the rogue Tympole. James stood on the shore, coolly observing the fight taking place in the turquoise waters of the Millenia Bay. Well, it was a start. It hadn't gone quite as planned, but nonetheless Fairwind had shown his bravery and battle skill once again. Despite Fairwind's lightning fast reflexes, though, it was clear the environment was a detriment to him. He saw his steps becoming dogged and slow as he trundled through the punishing surf. Fairwind might have the upper hand now, but the question is, could he take out his foe before the surf tired him out entirely? James re-assured himself. "Well, there's no time for worrying" he murmured. He steeled himself. He had absolute faith in his partner. He'd overcome tribulations a lot worse than this, and he knew he would once again. The Tympole, after all, despite the watery environment was looking rather the worse for well. Fairwind had been lucky enough to hit him head on with that Thunder Wave, and it was clear he could do little to defend himself. He twitched uncontrollably, his movement controlled by the surf. He was doing all he could just to dodge Fairwind's attacks, but his reflexes were slowed heavily by the Paralysis. It was wide open for Fairwind to strike. Fairwind panted for breath quickly, a little weaker, and turned to James for his next orders. The two foes stood a few metres apart in the surf, eyeing each other up. He seemed a little pained from the Growl, but despite his initial trepidation, Fairwind feared nothing, least of all this arrogant Tympole. Sparks leapt from his glossy green fur as he faced the Tympole and ground his fangs. James called out to him, "Alright Fairwind! Great job there!" he said, grinning. "I know you're tired, and the growl that Tympole shot out wasn't nice to be around - Hell, even I've got a headache, but look at how badly off he is! You did that! And now you've got to continue the offensive so this Tympole can't ever pick on anyone weaker than him again." He grinned once more, roguishly, and pointed straight down at the twitching, angered Tympole. "Fairwind, you know what to do. You're slowed too, and a little weakened, but he'll be more slovenly than you. Go straight at him, fast as your stamina can manage and hit him with a one-two tackle combo, my friend! He should be too tired to put up much of a counter-strike, so keep close to him and try and dodge anything he does try at close range." Fairwind's fur flared up and stood on end with static and he howled briefly, preparing himself for the fight, before charging through the tides at high speed, straight at the Tympole. Millenia Town - Beach Front Mid-Morning Cloudy Tired? If your Electrike is tired after a single wave of attacks, either he's made of crisp packets and glue or you need to give him stamina training! No Pokémon should be struggling after one wave of attacks. Regardless, I'm sure as the pair of you get accustomed to each other, you'll be able to understand. Now, however, you need to realise that Fairwind is currently still as capable of combat as he was right at the start of this little fray. With that said, there is a rampant Tympole in need of some punishment! Momentarily glancing up, a sheet of cloud cover had started to amass over Millenia. In a way it was rather ominous, sealing the arrival of an impending storm to run amok on the southern shores of the town in which you found yourself. Naturally, you'd want to consider finishing this battle off as quickly as possible - who knows what could happen if your Tympole foe ends up battling in the middle of a shower? Thankfully now, however, there was no rain to speak of just yet. The tadpole Pokémon remained stuck in a state of paralysis, given Fairwind a great opportunity to unleash a flurry of blows upon the rabid creature. Sadly, the cutesy growling he had listened to moments before appeared to knock the confidence of the canine Lightning Pokémon - you weren't sure how, but it felt as though the blows Electrike were delivering didn't have as much force behind them as you had anticipated. That wasn't to say they didn't do some semblance of damage - just less than they should have. Admittedly, the difference in strength had far more of an affect than the growling of the tadpole foe. Makes me wonder really how a tadpole can growl. Of course, this is Pokémon, where logic goes out of the window and onto Interstellar Flight 101 to the dark side of the Moon. More worryingly, it seemed the paralysis wasn't as immobilising as you first thought it would be. You most certainly hadn't expected any further movements from Tympole, so a flurry of bubbles being emitted from the Tadpole Pokémon caught you badly off guard. Fairwind had somewhat considered the possibility, but that meant very little as the bubbles flickered and popped around his tiny canine body, dealing a rather heftier amount of damage than he had been inflicting upon the tadpole Pokémon. It felt as though things were steadily falling back into the favour of your wild foe, though in terms of health Electrike still held the advantage - though only just. This battle is far from over. Be careful if it rains!
