It seemed krabby was a lot more compliant to orders than Virgil had predicted. That was good. Though his side had the advantage at this point, the fight could easily change towards the opponent's favor. As long as they stayed cool and collected, this fight should still be theirs. There would be one small problem that might get in the way of that, and that small problem was sandshrew. The tiny pokemon could be able to nullify the effects of both Phos' and mareep's more powerful attacks. He would have to get that thing out of the way first.

"Neil, I can't believe your pidgey was knocked out so fast! That musta been a new record!!" Virgil scoffed at the guy, hoping to make him lose his concentration in anger. "While that guy's taillow seems perfectly healthy, he must be waaay tougher than you as a trainer too, huh?" Virgil continued spouting out taunts as the battle transpired, then began to issue more attacks for his pokemon.

"Good job krabby! good block for Phos, now it is her turn to return the favor!" Phos looked a little hesitant, but that was normal. She would have to learn how to fight with others eventually anyways, might as well start now. "Okay, Phos, i'm gonna need you to attempt block attacks for krabby. We are gonna need his help to win this. If anyone tries to get close, get them back with a tackle attack!" He nodded at Phos. He knew she would do the best she can. "Krabby, that sandshrew hit you earlier, are you really gonna let him get away with that? Blast him with a couple of bubble attacks!"

Virgil turned to his partner, "Hey, good job. Let's keep this up and win this." As he flashed her a thumbs up.

Your taunting is on the level of a lolcat - utterly pointless, but somehow achieving the desired level of irritation. "Neil, I can't believe your pidgey was knocked out so fast! That musta been a new record!! That guy's taillow seems perfectly healthy, he must be waaay tougher than you as a trainer too, huh?" you chided, showing both Neil and Lee a severe amount of disrespect - Neil was your target, but I doubt Lee would have been too impressed by the fact that you had seemingly forgotten his name!

"Wouldn't be so bad if you fought fairly instead of ganging up like a common crook! Sandshrew, use Scratch and Poison Sting against that Krabby and finish it off!" Neil bellowed, pointing towards the weakest Pokémon in the battle at the moment - your little crustacean. I don't know where he gets the logic of fighting fairly from - the pair had every intention of fighting four on two until Jemma nervously stepped into the fray.

Subsequently, despite being somewhat ticked off at you forgetting his name, Lee had bigger fish to fry - tadpoles, to be precise. "Get out slut, whilst you still can - or we'll tear you apart," he deviously muttered, trying to stare down the rather timid young woman. "Focus on that Tympole, Taillow - Peck it's eyes out again! Ponyta...yeah, you just lie there," Lee ordered, glancing down at his fire horse Pokémon - whilst paralysis normally allowed some form of movement every so often, it seemed as though Phos's Thunder Wave had delivered long lasting damage to the poor guy's nervous system. Less said, the better, quite frankly.

Needless to say, Jemma was still rather nervous about all this, despite her defeat of the Pidgey moments earlier. Quite frankly, she wasn't too sure what had caused Lee and Neil to be this way - heck, Lee was the one being very flirtatious towards her at first, not the other way around. Maybe a rumour had been spread? Maybe Lee had been using her all along to try and bring her name into the dirt? She honestly didn't know. "I...won't back down," she squeaked, treading back ever so slightly as she continued the battle. "Repeat your attacks, please - but target the Taillow this time please, Mareep, and defending Tympole from any harm," she nervously commanded, not once raising her voice to her beloved little Pokémon. She was, however, aware that Tympole was weakening - and didn't want to be down to one Pokémon to battle these...hooligans.

On that note, it was go time!

Yet again, Mareep was the aggressor, directing a small bolt of thunder at the already weakened Taillow. It wasn't enough to down him in one go, but you could see that it wasn't far away. In response, the Taillow charged forward, attempting to peck away at the Tympole and finish her off. However, he found that he wasn't striking the tadpole - he was instead pecking at wool! Jemma's Mareep had foreseen the blow and got in between the bird and his prey. Sandshrew, like Taillow, was targeting the weaker foes - and yet again, was finding himself striking a Pokémon that wasn't the intended target! Phos had, nimbly, charged in front of Krabby, taking the full force of the Scratch attack. "If they're that keen to defend each other, just hit that Tynamo and Mareep!" Lee yelled, looking over towards his friend and ally - and noting that he was nodding back in agreement. As per the previous turn, Krabby and Tympole pooled together - and delivered a powerful bubble attack against all three of their foes! Meanwhile, Phos took revenge upon the Sandshrew that had struck her, jabbing forward with a strong tackle attack.

Eventually, Mareep pushed on again, glancing up at the sky as the tiny swallow Pokémon attempted to attack from above. However, once again, the Wool Pokémon dished out another thunder shock attack - and clipped the Taillow's wings! Lee's toughest Pokémon crashed to the ground, seeing stars - stick a fork in him, Virgil, because he's done! "For the love of..." Lee muttered in frustration, recalling his Pokémon. Despite only one usable Pokémon being available (what with Ponyta being rather paralyzed at the moment), Neil and Sandshrew kept to their original orders - and attempted to poison Phos! However, much to their dismay, the EleFish Pokémon looked rather chipper following the attack - even if she did take a bit of damage from it. In relataliation, your Tynamo tackled away at the mouse Pokémon - it wasn't doing much, but as they say in the Tesco adverts, 'Every Little Helps'! Finally, Krabby and Tympole finished off this 'turn' with an encore of their Bubble double act from before.

Two down, two to go. I think you're almost at the end here - finish these two losers off and protect Jemma!

"Good job guys, lets keep this up!" Virgil shouted to his pokemon, this wasnt the time to lose focus, even if they were winning at the moment. Carelessness can lead to bad things happening. "Neil, I expected more from you, I mean... at least more than from that guy over there.." Virgil said nodding towards Lee's direction. "Honestly, I was hoping this battle would be somewhat interesting, but you guys kind of bore me.. Even with this much going on in the field you can't keep it entertaining?" Virgil said these words without an inch of emotion behind them. Not that he was really bored, more just to get the guys angry.

"Hey, you are doing great for someone that probably doesn't battle that often." He told Jemma, attempting to encourage her. His tone was kind of odd, but he wasn't really use to giving out compliments to other people still. He shifted his stance a bit, clearly uncomfortable with this, but at least he gave it an attempt. Virgil coughed and turned back to his pokemon to give them direction.

"Alright, same as last time, Phos, keep krabby safe. Keep them off of him. If they get close, try to fend them off with your attacks. Krabby, hit them with just a few more bubbles, this fight should be over soon." Virgil delivered his orders clearly and with determination. These guys had pissed him off. These type of people always made him angry. He didn't want to be around them, he didn't want anything to really do with them. He would be more than happy to knock them down a peg or two, finally put them in their place. He gripped his hand curling it into a tight fist as he thought about this. "Let us finish this."

This battle, thankfully for you, was almost over - with only two Pokémon out of four left, and neither looking exactly peachy, the two 'Ace' trainers were looking rather silly. They'd best be thankful that there was no-one around to see them lose so badly to you and Jemma, otherwise they would be truly embarrassed! Needless to say, the pair were now ignoring your taunts and chides, somewhat apprehensive at their crushing defeat.

In fact, anyone hardly said anything bar their orders, considering how close their battle was to reaching it's conclusion. As had been the case for the last few times, Mareep dished out a hefty Thunder Shock attack - and even with no bird Pokémon left to have their wings truly clipped, there was still a paralyzed Ponyta that needed a pounding. Realising just how screwed he was, Lee recalled his last Pokémon, having truly suffered at the hands of Jemma's little Wool Pokémon. Suddenly, the young man tore off, leaving his ally to take on your might all alone. "Wait, come back!" Neil pined. He too had realised just how much s*** he was in - but there was no way he was going to let these two nitwits win without putting up some kind of fight.

With only one Pokémon, however, it was like solving a Rubik's cube with your elbows. He did manage to strike Phos with a perfectly aimed scratch - but from then on, it was a question of when the little mouse Pokémon would fall. Tympole and Krabby dished out their signature Bubble attacks upon the Ground type Pokémon, before Tynamo and Mareep finished off this little skirmish with two Tackle attacks. "Don't think you'll win so easily next time, punk! You won't have little Miss slut there to save your neck!" Neil raged, before taking after his friend. You had won!

"Um, thank you..." Jemma weakly muttered, recalling her victorious duo back into their PokéBalls - she was truly relieved that the two young men had disappeared without causing her or you any harm.
"I really appreciate that," she added, finally gaining her strength back to speak properly - before surprising you with a peck on the cheek, before scooting off! "Hope to see you around soon!" she yelled cheerily.

...what the hell just happened there?!

Anyway...where now, Virgil? The choice of where you want to go is your choice alone!

Virgil watched in disgust as the two trainers ran off after the end of the battle. He wanted nothing more than to pound their faces in to show them their place. He tightened his fists again, considering to run after the two and finish off what he started before the battle, but regained control of his emotions quickly. It was getting to that time of day where more people would be around, and the last thing he needed was people watching him chase down and beat two idiots.

He took in a deep breath and exhaled, calming himself down. His two pokemon looked at him quizzically, not sure how they should really react at this point. He smiled and pat Phos on the head, then looked down at krabby, not really sure if that would be appropriate for such a type of Pokemon. Also, he was still cautious of how much this krabby would actually take to him. Even if Virgil was strong, he still didn't want to be nabbed by those pincers. "You did good too. You are strong." That seemed to please his krabby enough and he left it at that.

Virgil faced his temporary battle partner, not really sure what to say. He didn't know what to do in these situations, and was agian flustered by the idea of social interaction. "You uhm... did... decently.." He fumbled around with his words trying to think of something to say but luckily Jemma took the initiative and thanked him, giving him a peck on the cheek before running off. Virgil was very confused at the events that had just transpired. He looked at Phos, who merely cooed with affection, then glanced down at krabby, seemingly attempting to pinch at some unseen object then let out a sigh. "People are strange.."

Virgil returned krabby to his pokeball, and began walking around the city, with his tynamo floating at his side. He pondered what had exactly just happened back at the beach only moments ago. People were strange, they were people that acted like Neil and Lee, seemingly to only care about making sure things go the way they exactly want, forcing others into it if they refuse, and people like Jemma, who seemed to not want to do anything if it was against the opinion of another. He shook these thoughts out of his head as he decided what he wanted to do after leaving this city. He could spend his time exploring, or he could head off and challenge the pokemon league, working towards obtaining the badges necessary for that task. He decided to cover both.

The nearest gym would probably be towards Kijutsu city. To get there he would have to take the east exit and follow Route 3, which would also probably be the easiest place to train his new pokemon, especially with them lacking a decent amount of combat experience. Though the route was pretty well traveled by a lot of people, Virgil was sure he would be able to find somethings of interest if he veered of the trails occasionally. This was probably the best action to shoot for both of his goals. Virgil decided to do just that.

Whilst wandering around Millenia, you were struck by the sudden thought of healing your pokémon before leaving for the next Route... and so you did just that, tapping your foot as you wanted for the nurse to heal up you little Phos and new pal Krabby. With Phos at your side, you had quickly traversed the road back to the exit to Route 3 and stepped out into the grassy terrain.

Being the exploring type, it didn't take you long to find the traces of a game trail and before you could think about it, Phos had shot off. She never left your sight, constantly darting along... then stopping and waiting for you to catch up. Within moments you had left the main road behind and were well and truly following this long forgotten trail that had once been used by hunters and poachers.

Phos came to a halt abruptly, right in front of you. She let out a chime and pointed her body in the direction she had spotted something. Just ahead of you was a little purple and cream skunk-pokémon. She was limping as she moved and when her eyes alighted on you, she trembled in fear, trying to back away. Phos, being the sweet and curious thing she is, floated over to her and began flitting about her. The Stunky's body quaked and you could see the faint scars lining her form as well as a few new wounds that were clearly paining the poor thing.

What would you do? Leave her here to her suffering? Or see if you could tend to the poor thing?

Virgil took note of the path he travelled and logged it all into his brain. He was fascinated by the amount of plant life that had managed to sprout along the sides of this path, keeping an eye out for any oddities or anything that seemed peculiar. Phos quickly took the lead, leading Virgil to where ever her inquisitive mind wanted to go.

That inquisitive mind is what led him to this. A seemingly wild stunky, apparently wounded from battle or some sort of attack. Virgil sighed and frowned. Though he had studied medicine to some degree, they were in no place to be doing that, nor did he have the proper supplies to tend to something that was this hurt. He could always bring the injured pokemon back to the pokemon center, but that involved heading back to town, along with a pokemon that probably would not understand that he would be trying to help.

Virgil shook his head at Phos. "We should go." This sort of stuff happens in the wild all the time. Pokemon fight one another to survive, claim territory or food, pretty much everything is decided by who ever is stronger. Survival of the fittest. Virgil frowned again as he turned his head down and began walking down the not-so-commonly traveled path again. Phos stayed behind, hovering over the hurt Stunky, looking guilty. Virgil didn't turn around. He cleared his voice then spoke again. "Phos, I said we should go." If she didn't comply he would make her travel in her pokeball. He didn't want to do that and he knew she didn't want that. He stood his ground and waited for her course of action before continuing.

You turned your back on the battered Stunky and insisted Phos do the same... but the little Tynamo was hesitant. Perhaps she could see that these wounds had not been inflicted by a Pokémon. There was a ring of what looked like knife wounds around her injured leg and a piece of wire was still half wrapped around her throat.

As you made to walk away, the Stunky drew up her courage, partly due to Phos not having yet left her side, and partly down to the fact that if she didn't get this wire off, she would most likely choke to death within hours. She limped ahead of you and blocked your path, looking up at you with a pained expression. This stunky wasn't harmed due to battling... it had fought a constant battle against human made traps. This stunky had suffered at the hands of human cruelty and you were the first human she had seen that hadn't tried to noose her.

Phos flittered above her, lowering herself to slap at the loose wire, trying her best to free the poor Stunky from it's grasp. The little stunky looked to your Tynamo, thankful that someone wanted to help her, even if she lacked the wrong appendages to be successful. If you managed to get the wire off her, all she would need is a little salve made from the herbs and flowers along this trail. They wouldn't be hard to find and surely this gal could be of some use to you further down the line?

She needed to get away from here but all the humans she had seen didn't care about making companions from Pokémon. They wanted their skins... their teeth and claws... you seemed different... What say you, trainer?

Virgil frowned after seeing where the wounds had come from and sighed. "Humans." He leaned down and motioned for the small pokemon to come closer so he could get a better look at it. It seemed that most of the wounds have come from tools and traps that were probably lain out earlier by poachers. He began examining the wild pokemon, seeing exactly what he could do to help. He had some knowledge of medicine and treatment, enough for this thing to probably get by, but for that to work, he would need the proper items for treating these wounds. "Alright, I guess I'll see if I can fix 'er up a bit.." He said under his breath. Phos looked ecstatic.

Virgil dug into one of his pockets and pulled out the pokeball that held his krabby and released it. The second krabby jumped out he began pinching around, itching for something to fight, then looking rather confused when he saw no opponents. "Not right now, I need you to do something for me quick." Krabby stared blankly at Virgil's face. He wasn't too sure, but it seemed like he had krabby's attention. "Phos, I'll need your help too." He motioned towards some small herbs and flowers growing at the side of the path. "I'll need you two to gather as many of those as possible for me, and bring them here. Don't go too far away though, I want you guys in my sight at all times." Krabby continued his blank stare, while Phos immediately took action, nibbling at the stems to gather them up. Virgil already knew what Krabby had wanted. "If you do this, I'll let you take part in our next fight." Krabby complied.

Virgil then turned to the stunky and took a step closer, slowly. "Alright girl... I'm not sure if you can understand me, but I guess I am here to help you." The stunky seemed frightened, but also seemed to understand Virgil's body language, and didn't seem hostile. "Okay, this might hurt a little bit, but bear with me here.." Virgil's gloved hands gently touched the pokemon as he began to work on the wire, slowly getting the tangled mess off of the pokemon. He worked diligently as his other pokemon gathered the things he needed to make a decent salve to at least fight the chances of infection, along to null the pain slightly. Virgil began his make-shift operation.

Stunky was a little wary at first, as you called out a Krabby. It seemed a little.. unresponsive and Stunky edged away from it a little, anxious about just what it might suddenly do with those large pincers. Phos and Krabby soon moved away, gathered herbs and flowers for you whilst you worked at the wire wrapped around her throat. At first, your attempts only served to tighten the noose, but gradually, you managed to pull the loops apart until the Stunky was able to pull her head free.

She took in several gulps of air, the flow now no longer constricted by the thin noose. She stared up at you with wide, thankful eyes and waited calmly and patiently as your Phos and Krabby delivered a generous handful of herbs and white flowers. Immediately, you set to work on creating the Salve, forming it from the juices and petals. Once done, you wrapped the little Stunky's injured limb in a leafy compound, the salve tucked into it securely. The rest you dabbed over her throat and flank wounds.

The Stunky nudged your hand in thanks and nuzzled Phos as the little Tynamo flittered close to examine her. Krabby merely watched unblinking. It seemed that by giving her the aid she needed, the little Stunky had managed to gain back some energy and was now on the road to recovery.

There was a sudden rustle in the bushes nearby, along with a strange slithering sound. A moment later, there was an explosion of venomous looking needles from the brush. Stunky pushed herself forwards, placing herself between you, your pokemon and the toxic barbs, wincing slightly as they battered against her flank. Shrugging it off, she lifted her head and waited for the attackers to show themselves.

Out of the bush came three Pokémon. The leader of the three was a long, poisonous purply snake who shook her tail threateningly as she came closer. The other two were similiar in breed but different in gender. The two Nidoran glared at the Stunky, displeased that she had prevented you and your duo of pokémon from succumbing to their poison.

All three looking aggressive. What now, trainer? Battle them and send them on their way? Stunky will surely help you in this contest, to thank you for helping her. Hoorah! Make your move!

Though stunky was still hurt, she had still managed to get in the way of the aggressors' attacks in time to block the brunt of the attack from Virgil and his pokemon. Virgil quickly locked eyes with his tynamo, then with his krabby. "Well, it looks like the fight you wanted is here a little earlier than expected.." Krabby clicked his pincers, ready for combat. The crustacean immediately turned to face the poisonous trio, not showing a single bit of fear in his eyes. Those cold, blank eyes that just seemed to stare blankly at everything and everyone... still had that same blank look. Virgil had come to realize that it was rather difficult to gauge emotion on this pokemon. "Come to think of it, I still havent given you a name.. How does Cobalt sound?" Krabby didnt move. Virgil wasnt even sure if he had been heard. Krabby clicked his pincers once. "I'll just take that as an ' okay ' ...."

Phos had already taken the initiative, trying to hover a bit higher to make herself seem larger and more powerful against these enemies. She was steadily generated a glow around her, attempting to show off her power. Phos let out a small cry as sparks generated around her.

Virgil glared at the three pokemon. "Really guys, attacking someone when they just got off the ground?" He motioned to the stunky that was injured. "That does not seem very much like a fair thing to do.." Not that fair mattered to them. These were wild pokemon, they just needed to do what they had to to survive. They had probably attacked Virgil in hopes of finding food or scraps they could use on him, or possibly they were just hungry or agitated from something, But none of that mattered. All that mattered at this point was that Virgil now had to defend himself.

"Two nidoran and an ekans huh.. all poison type.. I don't really care for the other two, but the male seems like he could be pretty tough. How would you like a new friend Phos?" Though at the same time, Virgil wanted to see how maybe the male nidoran would react around the female one. Did it become more aggressive? Would it cater to the female? Or would it just completely ignore it? The thought of this intrigued Virgil, as his brain quickly distracted itself from battle. Virgil scanned information through his brain regarding nidoran social patterns before realizing the situation he was in again. It was time to get this battle started.

Virgil shook his head and re-focused on the battle, then issued his orders. "Alright Phos, you should used to this by now, try to stay back and power up by blasting them with a few charge beams! Lets attack the male first, Cobalt, you get in there with a vicegrip to try to hold them in place, get in the way for Phos so she can use her attacks safely as possible!"

He hadn't reacted to you giving him a name, but that didn't matter. Your Krabby would know be known as Cobalt. I'm sure he'd respond to it in time... if he felt like it. Phos flitted about above you, eyes intent on the poison trio and Cobalt snapped his pincers in anticipation. Stunky moved to his side, lifting her head up and glaring at the Ekans with venom in her stare. Seems she wasn't too pleased with the toxic snake trying to attack her saviors.

The battle was on...

Ekans moved first, snaking forward and clamping her dis-locatable jaw around Stunky's leg. The Skunk pokémon didn't even flinch. Instead she shook the snake off with an irritated hiss, lashing out with her own attack. Her Fury Swipes hit their mark four times and she leapt back, putting a little distance between herself and the snake.

The Nidoran attacked simultaneously, the female homing in on Cobalt with a Scratch and the male jumping over her to Peck at Phos as she floated closer to the ground. Neither attack was deadly and both your pokémon shook off the damage as though it was nothing more than an irritating gnat bite. Cobalt snapped his pincers at the male, grabbing onto the poisonous rodent's leg and bringing him crashing back into the ground for additional damage. He held onto him as Phos let off a strong Charge Beam, keeping the Nidoran in place. The shock struck Nidoran sharply and Phos glittered with energy for a moment as her special attack rose.

The Ekans fired off a Poison Sting which missed her target, and Stunky switched her target to the male Nidoran, realising that if you all focused the same target, it would reduce the amount of enemies on the battlefield. Her Fury Swipes hit a massive five times, leaving the Nidoran feeling a little sore. The male tried to peck at Cobalt, only to receive a second helping of Vice Grip. The female tried to scratch at Phos who tittered at the minimal damage the attack managed to deal. Phos shot the male in the face with a second Charge Beam, her Special Attack raising once more.

Well, that was an exciting round! The male is about to fall. Congrats!
