Welcome one and all to the second round of the Tournament of Aegis, in this round we'll see how well our contestants can battle in a completely metal-floored arena! In the red corner, we have Seraria Kitamura.
In the blue corner, we have Remy 'Thorn' Dupris.
Anyway, I'll pass this on to the referee for further battle information. "This battle between Aria and Thorn is about to begin. It is a one on one battle. First trainer to have all of his or her Pokemon faint will be declared the loser. Trainers, get ready!" The referee called out as he lifted his hands in the air and started to back away slightly. The two of you lifted your pokeballs into the air and prepared to release your first pokemon. "BEGIN!" On Aria's side, Smoochum appeared. On Thorn's side appeared a Cerby. The battle between Aria and Thorn is about to get started and Thorn will post first. |

Thorn looked around the arena with disgust. It was already sweltering out, even up here in the mountains. The steel floor was only going to compound the problems that the heat offered. If his stylish black and red suit got stained, these fools would surely be paying the bill. The crowd was cheering loud and proud, which only led to more disgust from the heartless trainer. There were even more people here than last time, whooping like savages with nothing better to do than watch their superiors battle. Thorn hated them, and hated the fact he had to put on a show for the mongrels. However, prize money was prize money. He'd get it once his wallet was more swollen than a Stockpiled Swalot. Thorn reached for his belt and called forth his Cerby, Ifrit. "Come forth, Ifrit!" The blinding white light revealed his fire/dark type, ready for battle. He had proven himself to Thorn immensly during the previous round where he had schooled the man Seenter. His next opponent was... a girl? She even sent out a girly-looking Pokemon. Thorn rolled his eyes. Unless the thing had some type of hidden power he wasn't aware of, it wasn't a very impressive start. Still, Thorn had no reason to deviate from his eariler strategy. It had, after all, done wonders for him previously. "Ifrit, under absolutely no circumstance do I want you to allow that thing to get near you. Unleash an intimidating Roar to strike fear in its heart. Then use another Roar on whatever comes out. However, if she swaps first and the second Roar proves unneccesary, then use a Bite instead." The young man's face became devoid of emotion and interest. He hoped this wouldn't last too much longer. He was already growing bored of Joukai Pass. 1) Roar 2) Bite if she uses a switch as her first action, Roar if not. Edited by Thorn, Jun 27 2012, 12:15 AM.

Her last opponent had packed up and left before the battle had even ended, giving Aria what could be seen as a free ride into the finals. It hadn't exactly been easy, though. Her opponent had a tough team and she had had to rely on her various status moves to incapacitate her enemy. It had worked out pretty well, Aria had thought, until her opponent had packed up his Pokéballs and high-tailed it out of there. It was disappointing that she hadn't got to finish her battle but here she was again, against the winner of the other match of her tier. Aria eyed the man somberly, no expression passing over her pale face. She couldn't let him see any weakness nor show any signs of what she might be thinking. He was an intimidating looking opponent. Far less friendly appearing than her last had been, that was for sure. Aria said nothing and Magenta's ball slipped from her sleeve to rest in her hand. In a brief flurry of light, the ball was sailing through the air and Smoochum burst onto the scene, a second before Thorn released his dangerous looking Cerby. It was adorable, but she knew from the talk of spectators that the little fire and dark time had pretty much wrecked his previous opponents team. That didn't bode too well for Aria but she would do what she could. The roars of the crowd were barely noticed by Seraria this time around; even Magenta seemed far more focused on the task at hand. The little Smoochum tapped a foot against the steel floor, waiting for her orders as Thorn dished out his own. The metallic covering of the ground beneath them was a minor annoyance to Aria. The move Aikou had so diligantly learnt for the ToA was going to be completely ineffective... but whatever. They'd figure something out. The command of two Roars caused Aria's mouth to quirk into the first semblance of emotion since coming face to face with the infamous Remy Dupris. Oh yes, she knew of him. Anyone not living under a rock knew of Thorn and his Tournament battles. Amusement flickered in her glassy blue eyes as her mind worked quickly. He was smart. Forcing a lock on her three choices. She'd had the advantage in her previous battle by keeping the third under her belt... it wasn't going to be an option this time. "Ok, Magenta. If you can get a move off before the Roar forces you to switch, hit it with Hidden Power. Kyuuden, if you're forced out, Thunder Wave. Soreiyu, Leech Seed. Aikou, Charm. Nyanko, Sing sweety. Keikyoku, hit it with a Stun Spore." Aria took a breath. That was her first movement covered no matter what was forced onto the field. Now for the second. "Magenta, if the second Roar brings you back out, Attract. Kyuuden, if it's not asleep or already paralyzed, go for a Thunder Wave. If it is asleep or Paralyzed, Leer. Soreiyu, Leech Seed if it's not in play. Aikou, Charm. Nyanko, Sing if it isn't under Paralysis or Sleep already. Attract if it is. Keikyoku, if it's not asleep or paralyzed already, Stun Spore. If it is Paralyzed or Asleep, Water Sport. We need to shut it down quickly." She could only hope her orders made sense. ORDERS MOVEMENT ONE Magenta; Hidden Power Kyuuden; Thunder Wave Nyanko; Sing Soreiyu; Leech Seed Keikyoku; Stun Spore Aikou; Charm MOVEMENT TWO Magenta; Attract Kyuuden; Thunder Wave if not already asleep or paralyzed, Leer if it is Nyanko; Sing if not already asleep or paralyzed, Attract if it is Soreiyu; Leech Seed Keikyoku; Stun Spore if not already asleep or paralyzed, Water Sport if it is Aikou; Charm Edited by Seraria, Jun 27 2012, 10:54 AM.

Joukai Pass Aegis Battlegrounds Seraria Kitamura vs Remy Dupris The final battle of Tier 3 had finally been underway. The seats in the stadium were completely filled, so much so that people were actually sitting in the aisles to watch this match-up. Yours truly was especially one who wanted to see this and was looking over the match-up from everywhere. Because I'm just a voice and sound is everywhere. Regardless, this what is. Both trainers had worked hard to reach here and now it had come down to the beautiful Seraria Kitamura and the bad-ass Remy Dupris. Both trainers sent out their first Pokemon and issued their orders. Seraria's orders were a bit more lengthy but with good reason. Thorn's tactic was a dirty one, but a good strategy nonetheless, and we had seen him use it in his previous match-up against Chris Seenter. Locking in your opponent's three choices put a huge dent in their versatility and ability to counter, while at the same time, you still had the ability to counter your opponent's Pokemon effectively. The bell dinged, signifying the start of the battle. Ifrit the Cerby took a deep breath and let out a loud roar. The roar scared Magenta before she had a chance to get off her Hidden Power. Who would come out? In a flash of light, Nyanko appeared. The Skitty immediately knew Seraria's orders and sang out loudly. The soothing notes travelled towards Ifrit but he managed to withstand falling asleep. Now able to get off his second attack, he let out yet another loud roar. Magenta disappeared into her Pokeball. Who would be next to come out? Would it cause Seraria's third choice to be locked in? With another flash of light, Kyuuden the Shinx took the field. Ifrit was out of commands to follow, giving Kyuuden the free move. She let out a thunderwave, which travelled towards Ifrit, effectively paralyzing the dark/fire type. At the same time, Ifrit's speed was dropped twice because of the paralysis. Since Thorn had issued commands last round, it was now Seraria's turn to post first. Team 1

The switching and changing was quick and Nyanko appeared momentarily on the scene, not managing to get off her sing before being forced to switch with Kyuuden. That didn't matter. Thunder Wave was successful and would probably be far more beneficial down the road anyway. The dropped speed meant she had a higher chance of going first, despite the level disadvantage and she was going to have to put it to good use. "Okay, Kyuuden. This is far from ideal but we'll do what we can. I want you to hit it with a triple Spark. We have to be careful. If it Roars at any point and it gets off... Magenta, Sweet Kiss and Attract. Skitty, Attract and Double Slap." Aria had to cover all bases. He just may try a second round of Roars, though the strategy of locking in her pokémon had already been played out. She had managed to turn the situation around somewhat by Paralyzing the Cerby. Now all she had to do was make sure that Thorn knowing all three of her chosen team wasn't a fall down for her. Kyuuden was raring to go. She hadn't come onto the field in the last match and was therefore eager to prove her worth in this one. Aria resisted the urge to pat the little electric kitten. She couldn't show affection against this man. He would most likely find a way to use it against her. Aria took a deep breath and waited. The Roars had gone splendidly. Thorn had been able to lock her team in with one fell swoop. The paralysis....was not as splendid. Thorn tapped the steel floor of the ground experimentally. There was no way that Ifrit would be able to dig through it. Paralyzed or not, he had done his task for now, but there was no sense keeping him in combat to be a punching bag. There were no more roars to be needed, and the Dark type would be needed to help take out that pesky Smoochum later. Thorn began to toy with his belt while coming up with a strategy. He looked over his opponent, who was staring right back with no apparent fear in her face. In fact, the only time she broke her cool aura was when he gave his orders. That meant she was either brave or foolish. It didn't matter to Thorn either way. Her orders were dependent on keeping Ifrit out on the field. Thorn had no such intention. He decided to take the gamble and pull out his next Pokemon. Recalling Ifrit, he pressed a button on a familiar Pokeball and tossed it in front of him. "Go. Titan." The burst of bright white light revealed his oldest Pokemon. Titan the Geodude flexed and eyed up the foe. Thorn allowed a small smirk as he issued his commands. "Titan, this little girl wants to play. Let her come right at you, and then hit her with two Rock Slide attacks." Titan wasn't the highest leveled among the team he brought with him, but he certainly was powerful. Since he knew what team his foe had to work with, he just might be able to get some good damage off. Only time would tell. |

Joukai Pass Aegis Battlegrounds Seraria Kitamura vs Remy Dupris Well, Seraria was currently at a disadvantage, and Thorn was going to make sure that disadvantage grew larger. Having already had her three Pokemon decided, she didn't have the versatility of being able to choose how to counter Thorn's Pokemon. Thorn did however, and he made use of it effectively. Ifrit had been recalled, and in his place Titan appeared. A Geodude was a rock and ground type. Ground types took no damage from electric attacks, and rock types took reduced damage from normal attacks. With one switch, Thorn had managed to effectively counter two of the Pokemon Seraria had been forced to use, which was an all-around great move by Thorn. Having already used one switch, Thorn only had one remaining, while Seraria still had two. Kyuuden began with a Spark that unfortunately, did absolutely nothing. Electric attacks do no damage to Ground types. Titan on the other hand began to attempt to use rock slide. Unfortunately, the floor was a steel one, so it wasn't rocks that Titan generated, but rather steel. This effectively changed the typing of the rock slide to a steel type. Furthermore, steel type attacks dealt reduced damage against electric types, so the damage wasn't too great. On the other hand, this generated a great opportunity for Titan. The first rock slide created holes in the steel arena, which now allowed for actual rocks to be generated. Meanwhile, Kyuuden attempted to fire off another Spark. Yet again, it did nothing. Perplexed at why her attacks weren't working, the electric type frowned. Titan took this time to use yet another rock slide, this time flinging rocks as opposed to hunks of steel. The rock type attack was boosted by both the rock incense, as well as the STAB from Geodude being a part rock type, dealing a great deal of damage. Finally, Kyuuden made one final attempt to get off a Spark, but again.. nothing happened. Since Seraria had issued commands last round, it was now Thorn's turn to post first. Team 1

Thorn hadn't anticipated any difficulties for Titan in his Rock Slide. If it had been one of the newer additions to his team, there might have been cause for concern. However, Titan had been with him since Thorn's Kanto days, so the Geodude would not fail. Thorn was not disappointed. While the steel didn't do nearly as much damage as Rock would've, it still hurt. Not to mention Thorn had recieved pretty much a free pass this round. Now he had to deal with the next round. This Seraria... even with the clever strategy he had implemented, she made little to no emotion. Thorn wasn't expecting her to rip out her hair or scream like a crazy person, but most of the people he faced gave off some reaction to being outplayed. Perhaps Thorn had underestimated her... maybe she was expecting him to make this move? Thorn almost shook his head. That was silly. He was the superior trainer, and he would show it now. Even with the Shinx on the field, it essentially could do little to Titan. The strategy apparent to him would be to swap in either the Smoochum or the Skitty. A wise saying told people that if something wasn't broken, don't fix it. Why bother to stop using the move that would prove to be his best weapon? "Titan, keep up the good work. Use two more Rock Slides on whatever she chooses to combat you with. Try to aim for the face to elicit a flinch." Not only was the move powerful, but it gave the opportunity to have his foe lose a movement. It couldn't hurt. Thorn had taken an early lead, and as long as he held the momentum, he would prove to be unstoppable to all these moronic 'fans.' |

It was there. The faintest flicker of emotion marred Aria's face as Kyuuden was rammed by first a steel variant of the Rock Slide, followed by a proper one. It didn't do as much damage as it would have done had the move been Ground typed, but it was plenty enough to make Aria's eyes widened very slightly, her lips parting for the briefest of seconds and a small breath to catch in her throat. She wiped the emotion away as quickly as it had appeared, determined not to show any weakness to this man. She had met others like him. Her father got like this during times of stress or during important battles. No, Aria wasn't about to let this man see how the pain inflicted upon her pokémon affected her too. Instead, her hands furled into balls, fingers digging into her palms. Another emotion showed on her face as Thorn kept the Geodude in play. A small smirk quirked the very tips of her mouth, curling them upwards just a fraction as her eyes glinted. Now was her moment. She could turn the battle in her favor here... she just had to play it right and rely on a little luck. "Kyuuden, come back for now. Magenta, Double Powder Snow... Fast. Try to protect your face from the first Rock Slide and use the level advantage to your favor to attempt to get your Powder Snow's in before he can hit you with another." It was her one shot. All Smoochum needs to do was protect herself from flinching. Aria had every faith in her Smoochum. Magenta, appearing on the field to an applause as usual, turned her eyes on Geodude and narrowed them. It was time to play serious. Joukai Pass Aegis Battlegrounds Seraria Kitamura vs Remy Dupris Kyuuden was recalled, which was a good idea. Kyuuden was unable to do anything against Titan, so bringing out another Pokemon would be more ideal. Seraria's choice for the swap was another good idea. Magenta the Smoochum took the field, replacing the injured and berated Kyuuden. Perhaps Kyuuden would come in handy later in the match-up. However, because Magenta was switched in, Titan had the opportunity to get in a quick attack before Magenta could retaliate. He slammed into the ground where the holes of steel had been removed from the first Rock Slide, and tossed rocks towards Smoochum. The attacks hit for quite a fair bit of damage despite the level difference. Though the damage was thanks to a beautiful combination of STAB, type effectiveness and the Rock Incense. Oh? What's this? It appears that Magenta had flinched from the Rock Slide, making her unable to get off her first Powder Snow. Taking the time that Magenta was flinched, Titan slammed into the ground again, flinging more boulders at the Smoochum. Fortunately for Magenta, the boulders landed around her, which was a stroke of huge luck for her. If they had hit, they'd have easily knocked the Smoochum unconscious. Quickly retaliating, Magenta began blowing freezing snow from her mouth at the Geodude. It hit for its own decent amount of damage, but that wasn't the surprising thing. What shocked everyone, including this disembodied voice was the after-effect of the Powder Snow. As if Heaven itself was smiling down upon Seraria, Powder Snow had frozen Titan solid! Well... that was a huge shock.. but neither Pokemon fainted. Since Thorn had issued commands last round, it was now Seraria's turn to post first. Thorn's Team

She hadn't prevented a flinch... not that it really mattered. Aria had had a sinking feeling that no matter what her little Smoochum did, it would have had the same effect anyway. What took Aria by surprise, however, was the fact that Smoochum's second Powder Snow had managed to freeze the Rock pokémon. Aria blinked for a second before realising that the next round had started and she was due to give her orders first. Another Powder Snow should finish it, providing the Geodude remaining in play, though Aria could see no reason as to why he would switch. It wasn't like switching it out would heal the freeze anyway. Or thaw it out. Whatever term you prefered to use. She'd order conditionals just to be on the safe side, regardless. "All right, Magenta. Powder Snow. One more should do the trick. You're doing brilliantly. If he switches for the Cerby, Attract and Sweet Kiss. Anything else, stick to a double powder snow." She crossed her fingers and took a deep, steadying breath. Well that hadn't exactly turned out the way that he had wanted the round to go. Titan was a complete and utter disgrace. Not only missing Rock Slide, but getting his stone hide frozen? The emotionless state was gone now, and it was replaced with utter disdain matched with a furious scowl. Now he'd have to work out what his third Pokemon would be, for there was no way Ifrit was going to stand a chance against the creature. Of course the people would have to wait a round before the Pokemon he had already chosen to go first would arrive. Thorn had decided to give Titan his one shot at redemption. "Titan you will break out of that ice right. Now. Slam her with two more of your Rock Slides." Even if Titan failed, then he would be punished for having such a bad round by the having the Smoochum deal more pain. Thorn had no use for weakness, and that was all he saw this round. There was no point in swapping the Geodude out, for a frozen half-dead rock was worthless at all turns. Thorn sighed and rubbed his left temple with his left hand. What had gone from a sure-fire win in his mind now seemed clouded. He'd have to pull a few miracles out of his ass to swing momentum back his way. |

Joukai Pass Aegis Battlegrounds Seraria Kitamura vs Remy Dupris The crowd was still speechless as Titan the Geodude remained frozen in a block of ice. The chance to freeze was so incredibly low, yet it still managed to occur. Everyone was silent and in awe. Except Thorn. He was pissed off beyond belief. Well, the Geodude remained frozen, and Magenta pretty much had free reign to do what she wanted, especially with the level advantage. It wasn't surprising that a battle could swing this way so haphazardly, but it was still remarkable to actually see it happening. Magenta inhaled, holding the air within her for a brief moment, before expelling the freezing snow out from her mouth and towards Titan. The frozen rock and ground type could do nothing and fainted after the attack had hit. Just like that Seraria had managed to take out one of Thorn's Pokemon without losing one of her own. Both trainers were down to one available swap-out each, but Thorn still had one variable choice Pokemon, while Seraria didn't share that luxury. Seraria did have a large amount of status effects that can be used from her Pokemon, which will make things more difficult for Thorn. However, Thorn wasn't one to back-down. He'd find a way to crush his opponent, mentally and physically. Let's see how he attempts to do so. Due to fainting, it was now Thorn's turn to post first. Thorn's Team

Thorn recalled the Geodude to his Pokeball. What had started out as a marvelous performance had ended horribly. "Pathetic." Thorn was in an incredibly foul mood now. The high-pitched screaming by the idiots in the stands wasn't exactly helping much. He had no choice now, although he really didn't have much of one to begin with. He plucked a familiar Pokeball off of his belt and tossed it into the middle of the ring. "Come forth, Phoenix." The burst of white light revealed his Archen, who was a tougher warrior than he let on. Thorn hadn't really wanted to use him so soon, but the failure of Titan had forced him to expedite his plans. He mulled over what possible strategies the girl would use against him, and setled on his orders. "Phoenix, use two Rock Slides on your foe. Unless she swaps in that annoying Skitty, in which case I want you to use three Acrobatics." Thorn actually felt semi-interested in the battle for the first time. This next round essentially decided whether he lived or died... figuratively speaking of course. He didn't think his enemy actually had it in her to kill him. Still, Thorn had no intention of losing now. |

There was another glimpse of emotion on the young woman's face as Titan fell. It was a mixture of happiness and fierce determination. Once more, she forced her expression to calm and watched her opponent carefully. He had locked in her team and therefore knew how best to counter her. All Aria knew was the possible Pokémon Remy could use. Any of the three remaining in his roster could be called out and Aria wasn't entirely sure she was ready for any of them. It was the prehistoric bird that appeared. Archen... it was a Pokémon Aria didn't really know all that much about. There was one thing she knew though... it was part flying and because Rock didn't counter the the one weakness Flying had that Aria could exploit with Magenta, it meant she could still do something before the first or second Rock Slide put the Smoochum out of action. Aria gave Magenta a small smile; just enough to keep the Smoochum's confidence up whilst remaining stoic to the audience and her opponent. They would have to work fast to get a move in before Magenta fell. Aria felt a small pang of guilt at sacrificing Magenta essentially but the Smoochum seemed to understand. The Pokémon waiting after this one was fire and dark... both of which she was weak to. "Great job, Magenta. Now, this is probably our last movement, so make it count, okay? Hit it with a Powder Snow. If you somehow get the chance to, go for a second if you can. Try and soften it up for your friends, okay?" Magenta placed her hands on her hips and puffed her chest out. She was going to die (in a manner of speaking) for her friends, but she would do her damnest to make sure she dished out a little hurt first. ORDERS 1] Powder Snow 2] Powder Snow |
