Species Description:Species History: Poltrete have been hunted to near extinction, for the high quality of their meat, particularly desirable for holiday feasts. They are weak and at lower levels nearly helpless. Due to their situation, they have become reclusive, rare creatures hiding in the mountains trying to avoid conflict. From a trainer's point of view, they are close to useless, though their evolutions are more than desirable. Even before they were hunted, these pokemon were not confrontational and preferred to just kick up a bit of sand to disguise their run away. They are easily scared; there are a number of myths about these pokemon doing things as stupid as drowning by staring at rain clouds and running in terror at the shadow of falling leaves. They live in small holes in the ground, usually ones left behind by Sandshrew or something similar, venturing out for only a few hours a day to scavenge for berries, before returning to hiding. How easy they are to defeat makes a great justification for why they are so skiddish. They hold heavy grudges built up from seeing their young forms beaten and killed. Because of their nature, little is known of how they are in the wild. Any attempts to approach them are countered with a heavy amount of hostility. Their overdeveloped legs kick with skill akin to that of a Mienfoo. Their sharp cleat-like talons allow them to run up and down rocks and even stand upside down with relative ease. Their sharp beaks can pierce straight through boulders; but they are best known for their razor tipped wings, making the pokemon able to slash and cut with relative ease. They have great powers of healing, akin to Audino; this gives them a similar reputation to Absol. Their greatest power comes from the many “eyes” floating around their bodies, they are powerful Will-o-Wisps. These eyes are very hypnotic, but are also packed with heavy amounts of elemental and ghastly energy, fueling the pokemon’s signature “soul” attacks. This duel nature and strange typing combine to give it the nickname of “the yin and the yang”.
