I'm curious about how many people feel about a new type of Pokemon my coworker and I are discussing. He thinks that having a Pokemon that changes types and moves depending on the season would be a good Pokemon to have. An example would be a Pokemon that is a fire type in the summer time of the game and knows Flamethrower, but in the winter time it would be an ice type that knows Ice Beam instead. I argue against it because a persons strategy would have to constantly change based on the season changes. But I was wondering what other peoples opinions might be. I used Castform and Eevee as Pokemon where you have control of the changes vs a Pokemon that changes whether you want it to or not. |

Like you said, Castform is similar to this idea, Eevee not so much but I see where you're coming from. I think it's a good concept, and worth an effort. Thing is, you would have to use moves that definitely have a polar opposite. Same damage and/or effect. I don't think theres an ice move for say Flame Wheel, but meh.. I like the idea. Spring - ![]() Summer - ![]() Autumn - or Winter - ![]() Means having the same IC seasons all over the forum, however. Didn't we used to have an Alternia weather thing near the Cbox? Would be good to see that back. Edited by Ashy, Oct 19 2011, 12:49 PM.

No as far as I remember Alternia never had Weather. As for Seasonal changes...Like with Deerling we pretty much just put it in areas that closely matched its change. In Game, I kinda hoped that was how Deerling worked since all they showed us when it was first released was it as a Grass Type and it showed the other three forms in small pictures. But we were let down when we found out Deerling stayed a grass type. |

I like the idea a lot but as Ashy says I see the move set being quite tricky to get right. I also wonder if you tutored Flamethrower, to use your example, would the Pokemon automatically learn Ice Beam as well? I suppose you could just relate it to real seasons, i.e. when it is summer in real life it is the fire type in your journey. The other option would be to do what, I believe, and change season every month. It would take a lot of remembering and various edits so I don't really know the feasibility of it. I would love to see it though. Edited by Matt Cauthin, Oct 19 2011, 01:08 PM.

Ahh, it may of been Tohea then? Sure I've seen a site with weather on, and I've only been part of Tohea and Alternia in terms of Pokemon RPG.. Either way I like the idea and would like to see it done. |

Tohea had weather at one stage, Ashy, but like Snow said I don't think it was ever used here | |||||||||||||||

I was actually referring in the actual games. Since they introduced seasons in black and white if it would be good to have a Pokemon change based on the seasons. I argued against it because if you trained a Pokemon to deal with a specific type and it changed into a different type.... The argument started when he wanted an ice dog type Pokemon. Like Arcanine is a fire dog type. The example he gave was a Pokemon modeled after the arctic wolf since they made Beartic after the polar bear. It eventually got to the point where we both agreed that it would have to be a ice/ground type. Then he said it could be a ground type in the summer, ice/ground in spring and fall, and a pure ice type in winter. He just really wants an ice dog Pokemon. But back to my argument, would you like a Pokemon that changes types against your will on your team. If it was a filler Pokemon that is supposed to be a jack of all trades I can understand, but not one you might train to deal with a specific opponent. |

Well that would be the fun of it? The versatility of it and originality. I myself would love one. |

Best way this could really work is a less permanent Wormadam or a Castform + 1. I don't mean related to either of those; I mean type varying by location without just locking it in once or complete type and moveset changing with weather (similar to how Eros does it with mood). I've never personally had a concept for the former and would like to see what you come up with. On the later I had an old Hummingbird design that was:
It's major weakness being that it had a VERY limited movepool in Normal Weather and Sandstorm and inability to change the weather itself (and the double weakness to Thunder in the Rain). o_o; |
