So it begins! Your life on the outside world was sure to be an entertaining and zany journey. What strange things would you find on one of your longest journeys on the land? Would you become the world saving hero who stops pollution and saves planet earth, or will you become a nice can of compressed tuna? It was all your choice and things were surely going to get interesting. You had just survived an assault by a very strong Metagross, so surely the tuna thing would not be a worry, but you had also lost your prized pokemon. You were having to start out with a young Clamperl. A Clamperl that had never battled at that.

As you glanced over the horizon observing the "land people" and how they lived it almost disgusted you. They were just throwing their garbage on the land and it seemed to really grind your gears, but nothing steamed you more than when you heard a flopping sound followed by a screech. You quickly turned your head to see a Goldeen trapped in a plastic soda can holder. It was flailing with all of its might to escape the grip of the plastic demon, but that was far from the biggest problem it was facing. A Wingull had also spotted the struggling fish pokemon and had began to dive towards the Goldeen. It was nipping at the fish and due to the plastic wrapped around the fish's body it was unable to escape.

So it seemed like your first battle may perhaps be against a Wingull if you so choose, or you could perhaps keep journeying down the beach in search for the person who tossed the garbage on the beach. Whatever your decision would be would have to be made quickly as the Wingull seems to be getting dangerously close to gobbling up the Goldeen.

And Yet, I Live On.
The outskirts of this metropolis appeared quite bemusing. The people here appeared to have not the smallest shred of respect for their land. I'd always believed I'd never have a problem with landfolk when visiting their home, but their actions here were damaging to both my home and their own. Such peculiar creatures, these landfolk are. Before me there rested exactly what I feared most; a wee creature trapped in some filthy bit of refuse; the nature of which was beyond my knowledge. Some piece of flexible, strong material, arranged into a grouping of six hoops; no matter, it's something that is causing damage to this environment and something that I must take care of.

In considerable pain, I had an obvious limp as I made way to the situation. I released my young assistant from it's pokeball closely in-front of the Goldeen. "Ahoy, wee fish; if you would be so kind as to allow me, I would love to assist you in escaping your current predicament." I kneeled down next to the fish preparing to remove the six-ringed piece of refuse the moment the creature showed it's consent for my actions. "Jacqueline, milady, prepare for conflict by sharpening your iron defence; when the ruddy bird comes down here forthwith; intercept it on it's path and clamp into it and restrict it's motion. Understand your orders?"

Perl she nodded.

"Now Goldeen, if you'd hold still for a second I'll release you from your current predicament; then if I could be so bold, I'd like to ask that you do what you can to assist my Jacky in deterring your molester. You may do this however you fit; I'm afraid I have little advice to offer for you though, as I have no foreknowledge of your capabilities." Certainly these circumstances weren't much, but it was a start and at this point in time with as limited resources as I possess; I declare that it's nigh the most I am capable of; as difficult as that is to admit.

Honestly, you down know what a six-pack cover is? Where have you been all this t--, oh, right, pacifidlog....never mind. Anyhow it must really be hard to see, that most people abuse their land like this, while the beauty of the ocean just lays beside it. Catching the clutter of the disrespectful people running around here. Yeah, it must be painful to see, just as painful as the Goldeen splashing around in the shallows caught up in this piece of plastic junk. While being pecked at by a hungry Wingull lets not forget about that.

So, with the limp, you eventually came to the Goldeen, it being in panic, it splashed quite a bit of water, splashing on your feet, and even high enough to wet the cargo pants you are wearing. Upon appearance of the Clamperl you carry with you, she was a bit startled, and when you spoke, she looked up rather nervously. After feeling the advances to her escape she calmed down a little, still splashing about, wetting your clothing ever so slightly more. In the mean time, orders were given to milady Jacky. Well, not orders, more like requests. And she was as kind to put them to use. First closing her covers and a shine came over her apparel, rising the defense of herself.

Once the Goldeen was freed, she did attempt to swim away, but stopped on your request of help. And since she was in your dept, and this would be a prefect moment to pay it off immediately, she agreed in helping you fight the airborne assaulter. So firstly, she played as bait for the bird. When the not-so-gentlemanly bird came down for a bite, she wagged her beautiful tail, catching the Wingull off guard. In reaction she shot down a Water gun in the face of her in return. Next her turned towards her again. Seeing that Jacky was opening up for a Clamp, the Goldeen moved behind her luring the gull into a trap. That snapped down on him. His head was now facing Jacky's face. He was getting mighty pissed too. The Goldeen wanted to do an other tail whip, but being out of sight, she chose not to do that.

The clamp down wasn't that impressive, but the pressure would get him every turn he's in there for now. He did react with a Water Gun, spraying it in Jacky's face, but it wasn't enough for her to let go of this tormenting bird.

Ready for the next round.

And Yet, I Live On.
It would appear that my affairs were unfolding most favorably, if I do say so, myself. Looking at the current condition of things, I saw fit to speak up again. "Jacky, milady, now that you have a firm grasp upon the Wingull, it'd be most favorable to use your body weight to your advantage." I paused for a second. "I'm referring to the large weight your shell possesses. Flip the whole thing over on top of him. Try to slam him into the ground once, then pull him into the sea. If you manage to pull him into the water trap him again, this time in a Whirlpool, to prevent him from leaving the water; then slam your whole weight into him once more. It would be most favorable to rectify this situation quickly so as we may be on our way."

Looking to the Goldeen, I spake once more. "Now, you needn't follow mine advice, if you know a better way, milady, but I'd recommending waiting until the bird is within the sea, then assailing it physically with thine horn and other physical vestiments." Thinking ahead for a moment, I looked at my pokeballs, thinking of the serious lack of pokemon I currently possessed, just the Clamperl for the moment. It seemed like the wisest course of action at this desperate time would be to Shanghai the two wild pokemon into my service, regardless of if they come willingly or not. Normally, I'd be against catching an unwilling pokemon, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Injured and beached, certainly do make these times, quite desperate. When this is over, I will seek shelter in the huge metropolis before me, as strange as it may be, I haven't the means to leave shore now. The balls I had on me weren't even correctly waterproofed; it's just as much a miracle that they survived as my own survival is. The first order of business is to get enough pokemon to feel secure going to sea, including one large enough to ride on. I somehow doubt I may swiftly replace my Lucy, but another Mantine could hopefully be trained alike. May need Manaphy's miracle to understand each other well enough to be able to surf together as my Lucy did, but this is something I truly need, before I can disembark from continent, wherever I may be. I just hope I may find what I need here and not need to wander the whole island before I can go to sea.

OOC: Yes, it's Belly Flop, didn't use the words ICly, because Clamperl has no Belly to flop...but the universal move should work nonetheless. Wingull weighs 20.9lbs. Clamperl weighs 115.7lbs. Orders are Belly Flop, Whirlpool, Belly Flop. I suggested the Goldeen use Horn Attack/Peck etc.

For RP purposes, he doesn't even have his Poketch yet, he'll catch up on some things when he gets it.

Life is not a fairytale and there are no happy endings.
Millenia Town; - Beach

The Wingull was still flapping its wings desperately trying to get out of the hold Clamperl had on it. It squaked and squeeled but to no avail. It wouldn't be stuck for much longer though, as Clamperl waited until Wingull stopped trying to escape momentarily, she flipped her body up above the male bird, slamming it down, somewhat quite hard. Again Wingull squeeled, but now the bird was rather angry at the frustration of being bested by you and your pokemon. It screeched a supersonic from point blank range at your Clamperl, who as a result became confused.

With that, it's escape from any further attacks seemed solid, and it took to the air again, firing a water gun at your Clamperl as it did. Goldeen was now in no sort of range to use the horn on it's head. Yet, Wingull seemed to have forgotten about the fish for a second as it was still glaring down on you and your confused pokemon. The horned fish used water sport, firing jets of water past the bird as to gain it's attention. It worked, but now it's anger was focused on her. The bird almost floated backwards, before diving in to deliver some sort of tackle. Goldeen kept her head peered out of the water as she watched the water, flying type hybrid come in closer until she jumped out of the water, timing it just right as to deliver a perfectly executed peck underneath Wingull.

She landed back into the water safe, whilst Wingull went on for a crash landing, skimming across the water. Your plans to get the bird into the water so you could use whirlpool and another body slam had failed before, but now he was in it. Can you overcome your pokemons confusion and take advantage of this?

And Yet, I Live On.
The situation...could be worse, I suppose. It's hard to remember the last time my pokemon were this frail, honestly. "Goldeen, you're on your own for a moment, it seems. Unless Jacqueline overcomes her bemused state, quickly...try to keep it underwater keep slamming and pecking it deeper." I let out an audible sigh before addressing Jacqueline and seriously mused about just trying my luck with a pokemon on the ruddy bird, though I didn't feel that it was anywhere near ready for that yet, besides if I was going to try for the Goldeen as well, it had a great advantage at the moment and I'm not certain that it's respect and trust in me is enough for it to come willingly; I did one favor that may have saved it's life; but we are still strangers. No matter... "Jacky, just sit tight for a bit, try to clear your head. When you feel ready, trap the bird again, Whirlpool if it's still in the water at that time, Clamp if it's not. Try not to overwork yourself though; you are befuddled and could harm yourself."

A bit of serious worry about the situation washed over me. I definitely needed to spend serious time improving my odds for next time...and by quite a bit before I could truly make way. A simple battle like this...two on one even...being this difficult. I just can't...imagine what it'd be like to go out to sea immediately with meager pokemon like this. These are worries for later, right now I need to end this battle and go into the town to start anew from what little is on me.

This was an interesting battle indeed. A wild Goldeen worked with your Clamperl to fight a Wingull. Normally, I'd put money on the bird to finish off fish, but there was no clear type advantage here. Oh for the immediate joys of a grass-type Pokemon to provide some needed power in this fight. Alas, you didn't have a grass-Pokemon available, so it was a mute point. This was a battle instead of water and flying Pokemon. Any of them would help a seafarer such as yourself.

The wild Goldeen was first into the fight this time. She leapt into the air, shaking her tail back and forth, taunting the Wingull, then splashed back into the water. The Wingull watched the fish, as it sat upon the surf. Once again, it blasted a Supersonic attack, but it missed Goldeen as she dove deeper into the water. You watched Jacky anxiously, wondering what she would do. Unfortunately, her eyes simply rolled around in her head. It seemed she was dazed by the Confussion.

You moved your attention back to the water, wondering what had happened to Goldeen. She had dove deep into the water to avoid being attacked, and now you couldn't see her. The wild Wingull must have had the same problem, as he flapped his wings, taking to the air. Just then Goldeen breeched the surf, using her powerful tail to propel her at the bird's belly with a Peck attack! The Wingull wheeled in the air, shooting a Water Gun at the fish as she fell back into the water. This was Jacky's chance, the Wingull wasn't watching her! Jacky shifted in the sand, ready to strike, and snapped her shell shut on herself so hard if made you flinch! Her shell opened a crack, and you could see that while she may have hurt herself, it looked like she finally snapped herself out of her confused state.

The lash of the waves brushes against my skin as I pause for a second to think. Alright, this guy is starting to get on my nerves. His defenses are getting progressively lower though. That's his greatest weak point at this time. "Ladies, I believe it would be most advantageous to use the foe's lowered defenses to finish this quickly; in other words, seize the moment to assail the foes with as many physical strikes as you can." Pausing for a second to brush hair from my face, I consider more specific orders.

"Jacqueline, if you would, clamp the bird and slam him into the ground with your full weight. Try to hit in the water, but not deep enough to cushion this impact; repeat the slamming as much as you can."

"Goldeen, as for you just Peck as much as you can when the bird gets in close enough range of the water." Come on, this is a two on one battle, it shouldn't last this long, just 3-4 hits this turn should be enough to end this...hopefully. I hope for a full six, but half accuracy is good accuracy. We really need to be going; I need to scout the area to learn what I need to be back in real fighting shape and ready to disembark, either with only pokemon as a guide or with ship; though probably the former.

I hate giving short posts, but other than BSing or re-RPing what Mez said, this is all I can do. Battle posts are boring.

[OOC: I agree Bcad, it's nearly impossible to do good RPing while in a battle. And on that note, I'll apologize for BSing my way through a paragraph or two, before we get to the smack down.]

Wingull's Supersonic attack was a pain in the aft, that's for sure. It was keeping Jacky from fighting, and she even managed to hurt herself in the process. But that pain in the ass move could be to your advantage if the bird was yours. Just imagine, walking into the Black Sharpedo Tavern, and battling some sailor's Machop with Wingull. Machop would be standing there with its eyes crossed while Wingull made the fight look like an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Man, that sounds sweet! Even better if you lay a little money on the line...

But enough daydreaming! There's a fight going on here, and it's time to get down to business! Wingull was doing as most birds do, and it was flying out of reach of your Clamperl. As such, Jacky sat, waiting for her chance. The wild Goldeen however had a slim chance of leaping up there.

The Goldeen dove down into the water. You tracked her shimmering form as she gained speed, and once again burst from the surf like a missile, aimed straight at the Wingull. The white bird tipped its wings, deflecting some of the hit. At the same time, it opened its beak and released a Supersonic attack at the air-born fish. With nowhere to go, Goldeen took the hit.

Wingull didn't notice it, but tilting his wings sent him gliding towards the beach and your Clamperl. Jacky had been watching, and she was ready. As the Wingull came within range, she sprung like a trap, sending her the short distance she needed, to Clamp shut on Wingull. Jacky's mass dragged the bird down into the surf. The water was about knee deep there, deep enough for water Pokemon but shallow enough for nearly anything else. Wingull's Supersonic apparently had no effect on the wild Goldeen, because while Jacky held the flapping bird in the water, the horned fish Pecked at its opposite wing! Good job Goldeen! As the bird flailed in Jacky's grasp, it looked as though it had finally had enough. Wingull went limp, and it passed out.

Now was your chance, if you wanted to catch Wingull, or ask Goldeen to join you, or both!

And Yet, I Live On.
As Jacqueline released the fainted bird out onto the ground, I made a decision. Permanently keep the Wingull, probably not; but it WOULD make a suitable stand in for a Mantine, until I could find a suitable replacement for Lucy. With that thought, I threw a pokeball at the fainted pokemon. Then, I addressed my wild assistant from the previous battle. "Goldeen, you're welcome to stay with me for awhile if you like." Also, not an ideal water pokemon, but definitely sea worthy and from the performance in the battle, definitely worth its salt. "Alternatively, if you want to keep battling you can face Jacky now." I was sure the Clamperl wouldn't mind because of the close proximity to the pokemon center to patch her up if she falls. "But, I really can't keep you here, if you don't want to stay; so you are free to go." I knelt to the ground, garnishing the last empty pokeball as I spoke, having a more complete team would mean quite a bit to traveling the sea safely; right now I could use all I could get.

For a moment, I considered my priorities; getting some semblance of a team together was first. Then, getting ready to go out to sea. Finding exactly what I need would come after that, including evolving these pokemon and finding the more desirable replacements. Perhaps there was merit to standing on land for longer, though as of now I don't plan for it. Right now, I just have to wait on the answer from the Goldeen; then check out the settlement. Fortunately, I was now rather comfortable where I was kneeling in the sand, though my ribs were still bothering me a bit.

Your words touched the fish's heart. It stayed in the water and circled within a small radius. A generous offer enlightened it's mood. But the fish seemed to be more of a free spirit. Something held it back, maybe some doubt. Sticking with and playing with the Goldeen might make it like you more. Gaining allies didn't always have to be through a battle.

An abrupt noise broke the atmosphere between you and the fish. It was almost mechanic. To both of your sides, left and right, it seems that a new pokemon had been arising. Coming from the water, a mechanical pokemon. The pokedex beeped and buzzed like a small fire alarm. Was this a new threat!? Kooji. It was the pokemon that seemed to be appearing. Unfortunately, there was two.

"Goldeen! Goldeen!" The fish seemed jump about, being startled by the appearance of the mysterious pokemon. An uncomfortable look from the fish proved that she had been worried.

A few people started gathering around, finding the pokemon interesting. The bad news was that none seemed like Trainers, and you're remained soloing this challenge. Most of them seemed worry, and talk amongst each other. You could over hear some of them, and no new information popped up about them. Mysterious fighters that barely anyone has heard about.

Good luck.

And Yet, I Live On.
Being that I didn't have/use the Poketech to start with; I'm using this chance to spawn it and a few other things, before moving on to the main of the post.

Somewhere nearby under the sand there were sudden beeps and buzzes I couldn't really determine just what it was at first; then I noticed the top of a bag sticking out of the sand. Pulling it up; I found a sizable sack full of items. I didn't take time to see what exactly was in the bag; but only noted that finding it; especially under these circumstances, of being destitute myself was quite fortunate. I attached what seemed to be this region's version of a Pokedex to my left forearm. Also, within the bag were a few more pokeballs, a couple of which already filled and a mysticwater. The rest of the contents I didn't think were that important at this time. I gave the Mystic Water from the bag to Jacqueline; hoping it might help in the battle and looking at the balls that were already filled, I ascertained that one contained a Basculin and the other a Tynamo. Given how difficult of a situation I was in; I decided to let the Tynamo out to take part in the battle. Apparently, it's previous owner had called her "Slippy" and for now; that was an acceptable name for her. I could figure out who owned her before and why their possessions were buried on the beach later. The wrist device told me that the creature was called "Kooji" and gave me the creature's type, current level and moveset. Such a strange creature could at least fetch a pretty penny for sale, even if it's not the best team builder; I thought. They do; however, know Sonicboom, so buffing defense is useless... Thinking as quickly as I could on my feet; I thought trying to rush in as many moves as I could early and focusing on one of the two strange creatures was pertinent. I spoke, first to the friendly wild pokemon; then to my own.

"Goldeen; I know that you know your attacks aren't worth much against these creatures; but at very least your Tail Whip should be able to keep them in the water and lower their defenses. Pick one of the two and focus on it with Tail Whips. I can tell in your eyes that these strange creatures are a natural enemy to you as well, so I'll do what I can to help you repel them."

"Slippy; I know we've just met and I'm sorry to do so under these circumstances, but please help me in this battle. Use your Thunder Wave on each of the mechanical Kooji. Then Spark the one of the two that Goldeen focuses her Tail Whip on."

"Jacky; also on the one that Goldeen focuses on; attempt a Whirlpool to keep it still in the water; then attempt to Clamp it."

Summary:
Goldeen - Tail Whip x (2 or 3)
Clamperl - Whirlpool, Clamp
Slippy - Thunder Wave, Thunder Wave, Spark
All moves except the first Thunder Wave are on the same Kooji.

Millenia Town - Beach
Mid-Afternoon
Overcast

Wow, things aren't looking so great, are they? As Jacqueline and this wild Goldeen had finally put away that Wingull, two new foes that could be best described as two bowls of water on legs ambushed you! I suppose it doesn't help that the Seagull Pokémon caused a fair amount of damage to your Pokémon - needless to say, had you not brought out Slippy the Tynamo, any chance of victory in this one was likely to be non-existent.

Not that this was going to be an easy fight to begin with - Water/Steel types aren't exactly known to have many weaknesses. On the plus side, however, these 'Kooji' weren't exactly the fastest things in the world - so it gave your new Tynamo the chance to inflict paralysis upon one of the duo with a quick jolt of electricity! Better yet, the wild Goldeen appeared to be taking your advice quite well, realising that any of her normal damaging moves would have very little impact upon either of the Mechanical Pokémon that you were up against - so instead swished her tail about in a bid to draw their attention away from defending themselves.

Sadly, such a move would have very little effect on either of the Kooji's ability to inflict damage - especially considering the rather powerful (at the moment, anyway) Sonic Boom attack. Luckily for you, the Kooji on your right was still trying to shake off the effects of the paralysis that Slippy had inflicted (with little success) - but the one on your left suddenly burst forward, causing potentially one of the loudest noises you had ever heard! Jacqueline wasn't all that enamoured with the sudden assault to her ears - or the force that struck at her body with an almighty crash!

Looking down at your Bivalve Pokémon, it was clear she was rather hacked off at the Kooji that had struck her - and retaliated by calling forth water from both the seas and the newly acquired Mystic Water hanging around her neck. Within seconds, the water merged together, forming a rather large Whirlpool in the middle of the beach - which subsequently encapsulated the unparalyzed Mechanical Pokémon within the torrents! Being of the same type (Water), the Whirlpool wasn't going to do much, but you could be assured that it would still be useful in some way or another.

Thankfully for you, the fact that the Kooji was stuck within the rushing waters had little impact upon landing further attacks upon it - and as such, Slippy was still able to land another small bolt of electricity to leave both of the Mechanical Pokémon paralyzed! The wild Goldeen also stepped in to swish her tail back and forth (like a goldfish version of Willow Smith), whilst your Clamperl, somewhat benefiting from the paralysis of your opponents, charged headlong into the whirlpool she had created, crashing her clam-like body down upon the bowl-like structure at the top of the Kooji in a bid to deliver even more damage - and deciding to not let go! Admittedly, the waves would cause her damage too - but she virtually didn't care about such trivialities.

What it did mean, too, was that the partially trapped Kooji was unable to dish out a Sonic Boom attack like it had done before - and instead, opted to scratch away at the underbelly of the Bivalve Pokémon whilst swirling away in the whirlpool. The other Kooji, however, had no such trouble - and let out another deafening noise with it's movements, notably driving the attack into the middle of the Whirlpool and straight at your Clamperl! Suddenly, you noticed that the swirling water was beginning to subside - and once the whirlpool finally cleared up, it became obvious that Jacqueline was out for the count!

However, that meant that your Tynamo now was able to land any blow she wanted upon the previously trapped Kooji. With a sudden burst of energy and several crackles of electrical surrounding her body, Slippy charged forward, striking hard upon the body of the Mechanical Pokémon! Whilst it had seemed relatively healthy despite coming out of a torrent of swirling water, the Spark attack had delivered just short of a knockout blow! I don't know who had that Tynamo before, but I bet you're glad this EleFish belongs to you now! Goldeen, being a wild Pokémon, decided against completing a third Tail Whip - and instead gently pecked at the weakened Kooji, causing a rather amusing scenario that left the Mechanical Pokémon down and out. It would be the equivalent of a plane crash survivor dying from a paper cut.

The sole remaining Kooji, realising that it's ally was down and out, once again shook off the crippling effects of paralysis to give off another ear-crushing Sonic Boom attack - though with Jacqueline out for the count, it decided that striking your Tynamo was the best course of action, especially considering the amount of damage she had just done in one hit!

I'd quite easily say that you have the upper hand here - a couple more hits from Slippy and this should be over, right?
