Cyndaquil Egg [3/15]

Alice immediately began pottering around the old couple's cozy kitchen, boiling water and putting teabags into a pure white porcelain teapot. She tipped sugarcubes into the sugarbowl, poured milk into the milk-jug and set three white mugs upon the tray. Finally, the kettle boiled and she filled the teapot with steaming hot water before bringing the tea over.

Her husband looked you over, eyes searching your face before resting on the little cub at your side. "Cute little fella, you got there," he said after a moment, pouring tea and sipping at it slowly. "I suppose there's no harm in telling you. My wife and I have always lived in this City. We married in our youth and learnt how to care for pokémon and people alike. Alice is somewhat of a doctor to the people here, you see. She tends to the wounded, human and pokémon alike. We've always been happy..."

He paused and sighed, taking a deep drink from his cup, smacking his lips together. He gazed at his wife who merely nodded sadly. It must be hard to open up to a stranger, eh? But, he had accused you of being another.

"Up until a couple of months ago, that is. Recently, a group of youths have been... bothering us. They steal my wife's supplies, attack our pokémon and have even inflicted damage upon our home. It's been a tough few months. I'm not the trainer I used to be, and I'm getting too old to challenge them..."

Alice wandered back into the kitchen, pulled something out of the oven and returned with a tray of hot cookies. A dainty little taillow flew in through the window, chirping happily before resting on the chair behind Alice's head. The old man was right about that. Time had taken away alot of his strength, leaving him unable to take action himself.

She did not want to request your help again. Not after you had seen her home so safely. Instead she just smiled at you and offered the plate of cooling cookies to you. It was up to you. You can either finish supping with the old couple and then take your leave, or you can question further information out of them and seek these youths out yourself. What will it be, my Prince?

I listened to their story intently. An ideal life ruined by uncouth youths. Despicable. How dare they steal from their elders? What kind of sinister game is that? I could tell that Alexander was already planning. He may be young but he already has a keen mind for battle and strategy. I sipped my tea as I pondered my next actions. I would help the couple, that much was obvious. But how? That was the real question. How could I find out more? How could I find these rogues and teach them justice? After a moment I put down my tea.

"I cannot stand by and watch you suffer like this. It is my duty as any honourable human being to help you as best I can." Before I stood up I was offered a plate of cookies. Rather unbefitting of the mood, I would say. However, I didn't want to seem rude so I took one. My goodness it was delicious, but I had to remain serious, for this was serious business. "Tell me, where can I find these villains?"

OLD COUPLES HOUSE

Alice was pleased as you took a cookie and as you further questioned them, the elderly couple exchanged glances. After a brief moment, the old man nodded and spoke again. "They hang out just a couple of streets away. There's a warehouse there that I'm sure they are using to store things they steal from the townsfolk. It shouldn't take you long to find. You can't really miss it, young man,"

The little Taillow belonging to the old woman fluttered it's wings and began preening itself. There was a few moments of silence as Alice surveyed your face with her old, gentle eyes. You sure were a kind young man, weren't you? First helping her home and then wanting to take out these hooligans for them. What a kind soul. It's not very often one sees the likes of you around.

This might just be the perfect time for you to get in some training with your companions. Surely that's not something to pass up!

Finish your tea before you leave though. It's common courtesy, after all and you don't want to upset the old lady, do you? Well, I suppose you could if you really wanted to, but that would go against the kindness you have already showed her and her husband.

So. Remember, warehouse two streets away. Are you ready to teach some punks a lesson?

I listened to the directions and nodded. After finishing my tea I stood up. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon with good news." I turned to leave and called Alexander to my side. I wasn't sure what would await me, but I knew I could handle it. I released Caesar as well, and had him sit on my shoulder. It was always a good idea to have more than one guard out at a time. As I walked through the snowy streets I wondered what kind of sick mind would pick on the elderly and the helpless. I wondered if maybe that ghost from before was with those youths...

It didn't take me long to follow their directions. They were simple enough, and the town was fairly straightforward. I walked down two streets and looked for the warehouse. Alexander was ready to pounce on whatever we cam across, and Caesar had his bone ready to attack anything that might come near us. I waited for anyone to come at me, ready to battle. "Alexander, if anything attacks us I want you to use Charm twice on it to lower its strength, and Caesar I want you to use Bone Club twice." The Pokemon nodded, getting into battle-ready stances. I walked slowly down the street, awaiting whatever was there for me.

Well, nothing leapt out at you to assault you on your way to the warehouse. Probably a good thing considering the two beasts you had out to protect you should such an event occur. That ghost from before wasn't around either. I think she'd learnt her lesson and gone off to cause mischief elsewhere. It wouldn't be long before the two youths appeared, however.

One was around fifteen years of age, his short blonde hair all but hidden beneath a black baseball cap that he'd flipped back-to-front. He was relatively short for his age, (5'5'') and bore piercing green eyes and a sweatsuit of dark grey. His voice was quite rough as he joked to the second teenager about some griefing or another he'd inflicted upon a girl on the outskirts of town. The leader of the two was a year older with raven black hair that brushed the back of his neck, held out of his eyes by a white bandana. His attire consisted of a pair of stonewashed jeans and a black wifebeater. He was a good five inches taller than his friend.

"Eh, what's this?" the shorter asked, eyeing you carefully.

"Just another punk trying to make himself a hero, I bet," the leader responded with a smirk. "Hey kid, what are you doing here? This is our territory. If you don't buzz off, Adam here will have to make you."

The first boy, Adam, cracked his knuckles and grinned, plucking a pokéball from his pocket. If you looked, you'd see another bulge of a ball in the same pocket, indicating he has a second. Though, best not stare. Might make you look a little odd.

The leader also has three pokéballs clipped to his waist. So what will it be, my prince? Talk you way out of this or go straight for the leader? If you wanted, you could take out Adam first for the extra exp! Extra experience is never a bad thing.

But what do I know? I'm just a voice inside your head.

As I walked through the streets I came across what must have been the two youths. They looked arrogant and moronic to me. It would be my pleasure to teach them a lesson in justice. Alexander planned out his attack, first planning on lowering their strength and then attacking strategically. Caesar just stared blankly. Those fools. As if they could even come close to defeating us. I took a look at the taller, then the shorter of the two. It would be best to take care of them individually.

"I've heard you two have been terrorizing an elderly couple in town. Well, I won't stand for that kind of thing. If I take on both of you individually and win then you stop bothering them, do we have a deal?" I didn't wait for their response. I looked at Alexander and nodded. He got ready to fight. "Alexander, two Charms." The Maicub nodded and slowly sized up his enemy. He got ready to attack whatever came out. I turned to Caesar on my shoulder. "Should he require your help use two Bone Clubs, but only if he is in serious trouble." i had faith in Alexander, but it always helped to be cautious.

"Fine, punk. But don't complain when we whip your ass!"

Adam stepped forward. Noticing you were only commanding the Maicub to attack, he released the pokémon from the ball he was holding. A little blue pokémon emerged on the field from the flash of light and before it could mount an offense, Alexander hit it with two charms, instantly lowering it's defense. The teenager growled.

After a few seconds, he finally ordered a command to his Wooper. "Tail whip. Twice. If they want to play that game, so can we!" The Wooper turned his tail to Alexander and wagged it from side to side. Alexander couldn't tear his eyes from it and his defense lowered. Well, all that did was level out the field to some degree. You were going to have to strike hard and fast to stop this charade!

The leader of the two stood watching with a little smirk on the very corners of his mouth. He fingered one of the balls at his waist, waiting for his turn should Adam somehow lose. He had faith in his companion. After all, they'd bested most of the teenagers in town. What was a punk like you going to do?

Little do they know you're not a punk, you're a prince! Show them how it's done!

I couldn't help but laugh. Lowering the attack of a Pokemon that had no physical attacks at its disposal. Well, at least his move was as futile as mine. Well, perhaps a new tactic was in order. While lowering Alexander's defences would do nothing for him, lowering his would be more than useful for me. Alexander seemed to have the same idea as he already had started moving his tail around.

"Alexander, use two Tail Whips and a Tackle." The tiger cub nodded, glad to know we thought in similar ways. He was still young, so the extent of his strategic mind was limited, however he had great potential. I could see it in him like you can see the future oak tree within the single acorn. I was already thinking ahead, wondering what the next battle would bring. Thankfully Alexander's Rivalry ability worked in our favour here, however we might not be so lucky next time. I might have to send Caesar in in that case. Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, there is the present battle to focus on.

"Splash, hit that little cat with a water gun!"

As stupid as he looks apparently. Alexander successfully lowered Splash's defense
with his double tail whip before the Wooper sloshed him from head to toe with a
water gun attack. It wasn't that strong. Alexander was able to shake it off before
charging at the water and ground type with a strong tackle attack that struck
Splash hard.

The Wooper struggled back to it's feet and stared at your Maicub. Not very
menacing, are they, Woopers? There's something about them that just makes them
more cute than deadly looking. ... sorry, random tangent.

Alexander could probably handle this Wooper alone, but you might want to think
ahead to who you would use against Adam's second pokémon. Alexander may
be too tired to continue after this fight; which is more about who can deal out
the most damage via bulldozing through than any real tactical skill - on Adam's
part at least.

Let's keep going, Prince. Alexander is relying on you!

I could see this would be no more than a battle of attrition. Well, I could handle that. From the looks of it so could Alexander. He had some ways to go before gaining enough strength to be the strategic hunter I knew he could be, so until then he would have to start small. Still, this battle would be his first step towards future battle prowess. He had a fierce determination and his Rivalry ability gave him a good edge here. These hooligans would pay for their actions.

"Alexander, two Tackles. Wear him down!" The tiger cub growled to acknowledge he heard me. He would give this fight his all. Unfortunately, I doubt he would be able to make it through another one. Caesar rested on my shoulders, patiently awaiting his chance to battle.

"Mud Sport! And then Tail Whip!"

Wow... does this guy even have the first clue about pokémon battles? Splash looked
over his shoulder a tad concerned before spewing up the mud that would render
electric moves pointless. Stupid thing to do as Wooper were naturally immune but
whatever. Splash was just the one who did as he was commanded. Poor little mite.

The first of Alexander's Tackles collided right in the center of Splash's forehead,
knocking the Wooper off his feet. The little newt... thing reacted instantly, turning his
rear towards Alexander and waggling his stubby tail. Your little Maicub didn't appreciate
the humor in that, however, and struck the second Tackle, that pounded into Splash's
flank, knocking the wind out of him.

Adam balled his fists and glared straight at you. Splash was still relatively new to
his team. He'd hoped to train the guy up to be as awesome as the pokémon still in his
pocket. If you beat him up, how was that going to work?

Pretty well for you, if you ask me. Keep at it. Though remember you have another
thug to take care of after this. Play it careful and you just might come out of this
amazingly victorious!

There was little I could do but just keep up the offensive. Alexander did not yet have many attacks, so he had to stick with the basics. He would need to keep Tackling and avoiding too much damage if he wished to come out victorious. I had good faith in my Pokemon. He had a ferocity I knew would propel him forward. I looked down at the battle and gave my orders. "Alexander, keep using Tackle, twice more now." The Maicub nodded and got ready to fight. I looked up at my opponent and had to wonder what other Pokemon he had up his sleeve. Whatever it was Caesar would be ready for them. The little Cubone was watching intently, waiting for his chance to jump in.

"Strike it twice, Splash"

What a silly name, really. Splash the Wooper. Sure, the girls might find it cute, but in my
opinion, it's a daft name to give a pokémon. Didn't seem to bother the little Wooper, though.
I guess it's not that important... I just thought it sounded funny (Wondering why on earth
that name even came to mind for it in the first place...).

It set off swiftly, landing a Strike to little Alexander. Your maicub friend, however, wasn't
about to let that one go. He struck sharply into the Wooper, even as the little water type
struck out again. You may be wondering what a Wooper uses to hit with a Strike... It's
tail of course! Not one to be outdone, Alexander crashed his entire weight into Splash again
dealing more damage than the Wooper could deal to him.

The Wooper flew backwards to land hard on the ground, little eyes crossed from such powerful
attacks. Adam growled as he returned the little Wooper. I swear... there's tears in his eyes!
Maybe he does have a soul after all?!

Slipping the fallen Splash's ball into his pocket, Adam withdrew his second and final pokéball.
In a flash of light, the new combatant took to the field. It's little ears twitched and it fluffed out
it's tail, sparking gently as it did so. Big black eyes rose from the ground to rest on Alexander
before a distinctive voice rang out from the rodent. "Pika~~!"

Alexander's Tackles took down the Wooper. That was expected. He was facing a far weaker opponent, despite being stronger in level. His skill was unmatched by the little Maicub. It was pleased with his progress and new strength after the battle. Of course, he was still tired and would need rest before another fight. "Alexander, return." I did not return him to his Pokeball, however I did call him back and out of battle. I wondered whammy opponent would have for me next.

"Pika!" You must be joking. This is too easy! I smiled and almost laughed out loud when I saw my next opponent. This would be a cakewalk. Caesar understood as well, and couldn't help but start laughing. He even fell off my shoulder into the snow. Good thing it was so soft and cushiony otherwise he could've been hurt. "Caesar, use two Bone Clubs. That should be more than enough to end this battle." Caesar got up, chuckled a little bit, and got into a fighting stance. His Thick Club should aid greatly here. He'll have no trouble defeating this mouse. The true challenge would come next, against the other boy. I could tell he was stronger than his friend, and I was preparing myself for it. I had a feeling it would be far more of a challenge than this had been so far.

"Shock, you can do this, girl. Hit it with a double strike combo! Don't let him get away
with hurting Splash!"

Adam seems to be getting frustrated. Which is perfect for you. Shock moved first due to her
level advantage and the fact she is an electric rat. The Strike was decent, but nothing compared
to the massive Bone Club that Caesar smashed into her in retaliation. The second strike was
weaker than the first, bouncing off the Cubone's resilient hide as though it was nothing more
than a tiny bug bite.

A second successful Bone Club was more than enough to knock the poor Pikachu into
unconsciousness. Adam growled, returing his companion. He hadn't expected you to be QUITE
THAT POWERFUL! Serves him right really, doesn't it?

The leader of the two stepped forward, giving you a clap.

"Congrats are in order, I guess. Not that it's difficult to beat Adam. I'm next. Feel free to use
that machine there to heal up your pokémon. I'd rather not beat you when your team is still
exhausted. There's no sense of accomplishment in kicking your ass if you're not at your
strongest. The name is Ryan, by the way. Bring it on, Punk!"

He flicked a ball into the air and his first of three pokémon emerged. It was a ground type...
how would you deal with that? You DO have a water type on your team. Perhaps now would
be a good time to get her in some training?
