I walked outside with the two of them. The cold was slightly more bearable now that the snow wasn't falling so harshly. It was almost pleasant. Caesar shivered a little but was still ready for battle. Nathan released a Pokemon I'd never seen before. It was interesting. A floating ball of rock and ice. Very interesting indeed. It would be right at home here in this snowy world. A very good ally to have in this situation. I was beginning to feel confident about this battle. However, when Elise released her Pokemon all of that was lost. "What in the name of god are those things?" How does one control beasts of such evil? Caesar was visibly afraid, but he still stood his ground. He'd have a tough time against the dark bird, however Nathan's ice type would likely be helpful again her. For now he would focus on the larger, more intimidating beast. My Poketech told me it was called Fabbledred and it was a dark/poison type. Caesar's Bone Club would deal large damage to him. It would mean getting up close to him, however, so it was a very risky move. Still, he would have to make it eventually. Lowering my voice like Nathan did, I told both my battle partner and Caesar my commands. "Caesar will use your Powder Snow as cover and use two Bone Clubs on the Fabbledred. Should that not be enough he will use a third." Caesar looked at me with a look that said "are you crazy!?" I bent down to reassure him. "Do not worry my friend. With the Powder Snow to distract them you will be able to reach them unharmed. Should they try to attack you your superior agility and small size will work to your advantage." Caesar nodded and slowly turned back to the battle. He was scared out of his wits, but he still managed to put on a brave face and fight. He was ready to take these beasts on. |

~Shimo City | Nathan's Tavern~ Geeeeezuuuuuus Your Cubone had every right to be scared! The sheer size of those monstrosities was ridiculous, and that Fabbledred’s appearance didn’t help to give off a kind feeling. They both looked, and may have well been straight out of one of your nightmares. Nevertheless, your Cubone knew what you wanted him to do, and he trusted you completely enough to make multiple attempts to suppress his fears and fight those foes head on. Cubone waited for the cover from Comice’s Powder Snow, but before that could even begin, Lucivult began the round with a Growl, lowering both your Cubone and Comice’s attack. That wasn’t a good thing, since both their attack stats were already decreased by Fabbledred’s Intimidate ability. Almost immediately after that, Lucivult used Pursuit, and hit Comice with it, further delaying that ever-so-valuable Powder Snow. That gave Fabbledred enough time to get off one of its own attacks – Gust. The Gust attack lifted Cubone off the ground briefly, before tossing the ground-type Pokemon on its rear. Fabbledred then flew towards Comice as well, attempting to eliminate what they felt was the greater threat. Comice seemed to recover quickly from the previous Pursuit, and finally managed to get off that Powder Snow attack. It managed to get both Lucivult and Fabbledred, which granted Cubone with the opportunity to get its own attacks off. Seeing this, Cubone rushed in and delivered a swift Bone Clubs to Fabbledred, dealing a good chunk of damage. However, before Cubone could initiate the second attack, the monstrous Pokemon regained itself and grabbed your Cubone in a Bind attack. Well, as far as first rounds go, that was a pretty good one for you. Cubone and Comice managed to do a great deal of damage to both beasts. The downside was your Cubone was now trapped. Still, one question remains: how do you plan to get yourself out of this.. bind? Battle!
(Soooorry this took so long, I got.. caught up with things. It'll be worth it, I swear.) |

I watched as Caesar confronted his fear and went after the Fabbledred. Things did not go exactly as planned, but a good leader must be able to adapt to changing circumstances. With Caesar wrapped up by the beast he was presented a unique opportunity. He was being squeezed quite painfully I would imagine, however now the monster has no way to dodge an attack. It was truly a double edged sword. Turning to Nathan I proposed a strategy. "If you go after the bird and keep her at bay I can have Caesar defeat the larger creature. I suggest using two more Powder Snows on her, even three if necessary. However, keep the attacks away from Fabbledred. They will most likely hit Caesar, and as a ground type Pokemon ice attacks will destroy him." With that I turned to the battlefield. "Caesar!" I yelled across the field to make sure he heard me. To hell with secrecy, sometimes one must make sacrifices. "Wriggle your arm free and use two Bone Clubs, three if you must. Whatever it takes to bring the lumbering beast down! Should he let go from fear use it as an opportunity to rush at him and strike. Do not be afraid, your strength will overpower him, and he has no way to dodge the attacks. Should you be unable to free yourself bite down on him as hard as you can to try and free yourself and follow up with a Bone Club." I couldn't tell if Caesar heard me or not, there was no way of knowing. I was sure, however, that he would prevail. He had more strength in him than he knew. It was my duty to bring it out of him. For his sake, for my sake, and for the sake of the world. One day his name will be known. He will be known as a hero. |

~Shimo City | Nathan's Tavern~ ~Lightly Snowing~ ~Morning~ "Fabbledred, uze Bite on ze Cubone, Luzivult, uze Purzuit on ze Comize!" "Comice! Use another Powder Snow, followed by a Belly Flop on the Lucivult!" And with that, the next round began. Still trapped in Fabbledred's clutches, Cubone was unable to do more then squirm. Fabbledred brought the terrified little ground type up to eye level, giving it a cold, creepy stare; right before sinking it's teeth into the left side of Cubone's body. And when I say left side, I mean most of it's body, biting from the right. Damn thing's head is nearly the size of Cubone in the first place. Cubone shrieked in pain, the creature 's teeth causing massive damage to the little guy. Fortunately, Fabbledred had to loosen it's grip to get a nice bite out of Cubone. Fighting past the pain, Cubone managed to get his Thick Club-wielding arm out from the Bind, and smashed the monster in the side of the head with a Bone Club. Fabbledred's large green eyes rolled up in their sockets, and the massive creature collapsed onto the ground. Cubone crawled out from under the limp arm of the creature, clutching his left shoulder with his Thick Club arm. Passed the pain from the Bite, he was more shocked that he had just taken down this creature easily 20 times his own size... Now, over to the other side of the battle. Lucivult began the round, blasting past Comice with a Pursuit attack. It hit decently, though not compared with Comice's powerful Powder Snow attack, bringing the bird to the ground for a moment. The monster crow regained itself shortly after, however, assaulting the Comet Pokemon with yet another Pursuit. Comice was fairing much better then Cubone damage wise, but it was still taking something of a beating. Raising itself into the air, the ice type smashed itself down onto the bird, ending it's involvement in the battle as well. That was.. quick, yet exhilarating, no? "Return, my pets. Nozing like a good battle to velcome you into the region, da?" "Yes, you always do like to stir up something whenever you come to visit... Come on inside, your room is ready. Thanks for your assistance, Shalom. If you're ever in need of a bed for the night, my doors are open." Recalling both their Pokemon, Elise and Nathan began walking back towards the inn. Elise stopped as she passed you, however. "Your lettal battler will be great someday, da? I have a feeling ve will see more of each other in ze future.. Here, I caught dis on my way here, but it's of no uze to me. A token of my enjoyment of ze battle." She pressed a Poke Ball into Shalam's hand and winked at him, continuing on and into the in. Your Poketech registered the new addition to your team, revealing it to be a small Maicub! How nice of that lady with the weird accent and monster Pokemon... Anyway. Battle's over, you probably need to run to a Pokemon Center and heal up your little Cubone there before anything else, right? Battle Won!
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Cubone gained 41.6 exp! Cubone leveled up! Cubone grew to Lv 10 with 6.6 exp leftover! Obtained Maicub! -------------------------------------------------------------------- (/Done =D Now the stage is set for the future... HeheheheHEHEHEHEHEHEEEE ) |

Caesar...actually did it. Not that I didn't have faith in him, I was just surprised. That monster was incredible. I'm sure Caesar is just as surprised as I am. He must feel pretty good taking on something like that. He stumbled over to me, dragging the weak side of his body. His left side was horribly bitten, so he had to use his bad arm for that last hit, however it still managed to work. I was very impressed and very proud. "Well done, Caesar. You performed extraordinarily." He smiled a weak smile before sitting down in the snow and just resting. He deserved a good rest. I picked him up and sat him down on my shoulder. I nodded at Nathan and Elise, happy to have battled with them. I would have stayed, except I bigger things to do. I had to grow stronger. I had to grow more knowledgable of the world. No, I couldn't stay. "Thank you for the opportunity to battle. If I am ever back in town I will take up your offer, Nathan." Before I could leave, however, Elise gave me a Pokeball. My Poketech registered this as a Pokemon unique to the region. A Maicub. I released it, and what I saw was a blue tiger cub with yellow stripes. He looked around and must've understood me to be his new trainer. He looked at me with eyes that showed both ambition and excitement. He looked like he couldn't wait to get going and see the world. I smiled at the cub. I could tell he would be a powerful companion and a great friend. "Hello, my name is Shalom. This is Caesar." The little Cubone opened his eyes and weakly waved before drifting off into sleep on my shoulder. I returned him to his Pokeball to make sure he wouldn't fall off into the snow. I decided to leave my new friend out, however. I wanted to get to know him. "I decided I will call you Alexander. Do you like this name?" Alexander thought for a moment before nodding. I smiled. Wasting no more time, I walked with Alexander to the nearest Pokemon Centre. I healed up Caesar and deposited the Darumaka I had received into my PC. I was not sure where I would go from here, but I knew I had to get stronger. I decided to travel to the Frozen Forest that surrounded the city. I left Alexander out as I left Shimo behind. I wasn't sure what I'd find, but I knew whatever came at me I could rely on my friends to help. I trusted these Pokemon with my life, which is more than I could say for any human. |

~Shimo City | In the streets~ ~Snowing~ ~near midday~ So a generous gift from a foreign lady, a yellow striped tiger as a reward. And of course the exp that goes with to get it. The light snow drifting down ever so slowly, it was just a matter of time before the thin layer of snow that was already on the ground got even thicker. Well, unless this snow was the beginning of a larger amount. In that case, it wouldn't take so long anymore. Anyway, this chat about snow isn't of need, so I'll continue to what's really important; Nathan, gave you a nod as he took his leave to where ever he went. The offer he gave wouldn't be forgotten that easily. So, as you walked down the frosty path to the pokemon center, just having named a new addition to your team with the name Alexander, the snow indeed got a little bit harsher, to the point of where it would be considered normal.? Once the sliding doors opened, you trusted your pokemon to then nurse there. And she walked to the treatment room, the red 'injection' sign lighting up red. You deposited the Darumaka in the pc, and well.....waited I suppose. Watch outside how layer upon layer the snow was piling. But it didn't take far to long, just about 70 minutes. Before Caesar was completely back to health. The nurse apologized for the long wait, as the bite marks did need some time to heal, even with the high-tech healing apparatuses in the facility. So, now with everything okay, the slide doors opened again, and the weather blew in your face on the first step. Towards the frozen forest you were meant to go, but soon enough across the street where you were walking a shade could be seen. Coming closer you could see that it was an elderly woman, about the age of 80, pulling two richly packed grocery bags over the snow-covered streets. She didn't move fast, and she did it with a lot of effort so it seemed. Her head raises as she looked up. She pouted as she tried to push forward. "Let's live in Shimo, it's nice out there....." She mumbled a bit. When at some point she lowered her bags, and grabbed her arm. "Deary me, this cold goes to the bones" She said, obviously in strain. She adjusted her woolly cap and her crimson red coat for the next few steps. As she again picked up the bags, and groaned as she did so. The poor dear, in this torment, with groceries having to struggle to get home. If only some younger person would be there to aid her. Maybe you? Will you be so kind to help this old berry out? Or will you walk away, on your path to the frozen forest. Your choice. (So this is a plot, you might want to request me from now on :3) |

Alexander and I walked to the Pokemon Centre together. The wait was a bit longer than I had expected, but it was okay. I knew Caesar's wounds were pretty severe. My only thoughts were of concern and relief for my friend. When we left into the murderous snowstorm we headed to the forest. However, a sight caught my eye and I could not ignore it. An elderly woman needed help with her bags. It seems the snow was harsh on her experienced bones. She was in need of help, and no one around us looked willing to do it. People are selfish animals. I walked over to her and wordlessly lifted the bags. I tried to help as much as I could. I stood by her, but I wasn't really sure what to do next. "You look like you could use some help, ma'am. I can carry these bags for you, just tell me where to go." Alexander looked at her and nodded his approval, as if he was telling me that she was worth helping. It concerned me that he did not immediately understand that when someone needs help, one should give them help. However, it seems that he and I had different points of view on what a worthy cause is, even then. Still, in the end he understood the importance of small gestures. It's those small gestures that could make all the difference in a person's life. |

Shimo City Streets Snowing Midday The old lady looked at you with joy at your suggestion. She was clearly under a lot of stress, and having someone like you to carry fhe bags for them took a lot of pressure of her. She handed you one of the bags, clearly the heavier one and smiled. "Oh you're so kind, young sir! Helping an old bird like me is a kindness you don't often se in this world nowadays! I'm just around the bend there." The two of you kept walking, and she began to babble on. She was apparently a chatty woman and happy to have the company you were providing. However, even though the snow seemed to be getting worse and worse, her spirit remained undaunted. "My name is Mrs. Linda Appleby. Are you new to these parts? We don't often get many visitors and I'm usually really good with faces. Where are you from?" As you two kept strolling along, she happened to glance down at your belt and saw Caeser's Pokeball. "Ah you're a trainer as well! I used to be quite the battler myself back in the day, believe it or not. Oh, dearie, look out up here it's a mite..." You planted your foot down and ended up slipping on a patch of ice. You tumbled to the ground, and the groceries went with you. Fortunately, there was nothing fragile in it, and nothing appeared to break. However, a bunch of break spilled out onto the ground. Mrs. Appleby laughed as she finished her sentence. "Icy! No worries dear! We'll just pick it up!" Unfortunately, before you could react, a bizarre looking Pokemon swooped in from an allyway. It apparently saw the bread and decided that it would be a delicious meal. The old lady looked a bit saddened. "Oh dear, that was supposed to be for my sandwiches. What a bother. Well, I can't catch him now. I suppose I'll make do." Pft! Maybe Mrs. Appleby wasn't spry enough to catch the thief, but you certainly were! You had some options to see. The thief looked at you while slowly backing away. Would you engage it, or let it slip away? POTENTIAL FOE :freeklash Level 11 ![]() |

Damn this ice! Now not only has this land been inhospitably cold, but it has now made me appear to look like a fool. Great, just great. Before I could get back up some strange ghastly Pokemon made off with the old woman's bread. That will not do. I got up and released Caesar and called over Alexander. The three of us prepared to fight. "I would rather not battle you, so please give back the bread. However, if you won't I will be forced to fight you for it." Caesar and Alexander stood in front of me looking fierce, as if to emphasize that last statement. They looked ready to fight this creature. "Alexander, should she fight use three Tail Whips. Caesar I then want you to use three Strikes. Watch out for any tricks it might try to pull on you, and move fast." My two Pokemon nodded, getting ready for battle. I looked back at the old lady. "Don't worry Mrs. Appleby, I won't let her leave with your food." No matter what the cause I will help the unfortunate. Yes, it may seem trivial to some, but to me this sense of justice is one of the few things I can claim make me who I am, and I will not give it up for anything in the world. |

Shimo City Streets Snowy Mid-day The ghost you had ordered attacks on turned and floated away quickly, taking the attacks on the tail like a trooper. Alexander used his three Tail Whip attacks before Ceasar struck though, and that weakened her a bit more. Freeklash turned a sharp right corner and went down an alley and headed down the long passage. She then took a sharp left and saw she made a wrong turn and found herself trapped. Assuming you chased her down, she hovered over to you quickly, set down the bread at your feet gently, and then went to the wall and hovered there, her back to you. It looked like she didn't want to fight. So what would you do? Would you have your team attack her some more and gain the exp? Or are you going to bring the bread back to Mrs. Appleby? I don't think that Freeklash is going to go anywhere, and it looks like she'll be less than objective to a serious beating for stealing. As you pondered on what to do, Mrs. Appleby walked up behind you. She looked down at the bread at your feet. "Oh my." She picked it up and smiled. "Thank you so much. I'm glad you got this back for me." She looked to the Pokemon that took the bread and tilted her head slightly. "Oh dear... I wonder why that Pokemon took my bread? It doesn't make much sense." I couldn't believe it. She was just surrendering, just like that. What kind of Pokemon was this? I picked up the bread and turned to leave. However, before I walked away, I turned back to the Freeklash. It fascinated me. Why would a Pokemon give up so readily when she appeared to have the advantage? There was also something else bothering me... "Why did you steal this bread? If you truly wanted food I'm sure you could've asked. There are plenty of kind people out there willing to feed you. People like me for instance. Come, I'm sure we can figure out a way to get you some food without resorting to thievery." I extended my hand as a gesture of friendship. I did not offer a Pokeball, as I had no desire for this Pokemon. However, a Pokemon like this could really be helpful for someone like Mrs. Appleby. Once I made my offer to the ghost I turned back to Mrs. Appleby. I recalled Caesar and let Alexander walk with me. I wanted to get to know the Maicub. I returned the bread to the old lady. "Here you go, ma'am. As for the Pokemon, I don't know. Perhaps we should give her some food and a warm home before we figure anything else out. I have a suspicion that something caused that Pokemon to steal that bread. Perhaps once she's fed she'll be willing to lead us to that cause. What do you say?" I hoped the old woman would say yes. Yes, the Freeklash had stolen from her, and yes there was probably a reason, but that is no excuse to turn your back on someone or something that needs help, be it groceries carried or food to eat. |

~Shimo City~ ~Mid-Day~ ~Snowy~ Cyndaquil Egg - [1/15] The Freeklash considered your offer for a moment, or at least looked like it did. It then proceeded to make it's answer obvious. Dropping the innocent act, it used two Confuse Ray on your Pokemon, then proceeded to vanish through a wall. Hard to get trapped when you can.. phase through solid objects, but Freeklash were known to be pranksters. Oh well, at least it gave the bread back. The Confusion would only be a temporary annoyance anyway, vanishing once your Pokemon were recalled. The old woman handed you a Fresh Water for your trouble, refusing to take it back. With the distraction gone, you and the old woman continued on, finally arriving at her house. It was a cozy little place, yellow shingles going across the front with a pearl white trimming. A nice splash of color in an otherwise whitewashed world. The long trek across the frozen town had left the old gal panting, even though you were carrying half of the bags. Imagine if you hadn't helped, she'd probably be dead in the snow.. or something. "Sorry dearie, this old body of mine needs a quick breather. Would you mind taking all the bags inside for me?" She put her bags down and leaned on the mailbox for a moment, catching her breath. Before you could pick them up, assuming you even were going to, the front door of the house exploded open. A furious old man came bounding out, waving his cane in the air. "Leave my wife alone you hooligan! Joseph, Patty, sick em!" Apparently this old man was misunderstanding something... But, his Pokemon were running at you very quickly. They looked fairly weak, but the teeth on that Rattata would probably not tickle. Best do something about that.. Or try and reason with the man. Either way, act fast young one! Battle?

Well this was unexpected. At the very least the Freeklash gave back the bread and didn't cause any more trouble. I'd have to be more careful when I reach out to people or Pokemon. At any rate, when we got back to the lady's house her husband was not in the best mood. Sending his Pokemon after me, he didn't seem to grasp that I was helping his wife, not hurting her. I'd better diffuse this situation quickly. "Sir, I'm not trying to hurt your wife I'm trying to help her. She was having trouble carrying the groceries and so I offered to help her out with them." That was the best I could do. It was still possible he wouldn't believe me and keep fighting. In the event that I was forced to battle, I released Alexander and my newest addition, Victoria. The Horsea looked around and was a little frightened by the sudden appearance of the old man's Pokemon, but I tried my best to calm her down. "Shh, it's okay, you've got Alexander here to protect you. If he doesn't recall his pokemon, Alexander you use two Charms, one on each of them, and Victoria use two Bubbles on the Sandshrew." Hopefully it wouldn't resort to violence, but if it did I was prepared for it. Besides, it would be good to give my Pokemon fighting experience. |

.:: Shimo City :: ~Midday~ ~snowy weather~ Cyndaquil Egg: [2/15] Oh my, what a predicament. The Rattata and Sandshrew paused on the threshold, blinking from you back to their crazy old man trainer. The grumpy old man let out a harrumph sound and scratched the back of his head. Only closer inspection, you didn't look like who he had initially mistaken you for. He recalled his pokémon, giving you a weak smile. "Sorry Kid. Mistook you for someone else. Thanks for helping Alice home with the groceries. She often goes overboard and then struggles to get home with it all. It's nice there are still youths with some decency." Alice nodded knowingly before delving into one of the bags and extracting two bottles of fresh water which she held out to you with a smile. "Sorry for the misunderstanding. My husband isn't a think-before-you-act kind of man. He's become increasingly protective lately what with everything that's been going on... well, let's not banter on the doorstep, eh? Why don't you come inside and I'll fix us up some nice hot tea!" It WAS snowing and rather chilly out, so the offer of a warm drink and somewhere cosy to sit for a while sure sounds like a tempting idea, don't you think? Course, you can just bid your farewells here, but aren't you even the slightest bit curious as to why the old gentleman reacted the way he did? Perhaps a hot drink and fresh company will loosen his tongue a little. Shalom recieved Two Fresh Waters! Edited by Seraria, Mar 31 2012, 11:13 AM.

I was glad a battle had been avoided. I did not want to get into any unnecessary trouble, especially so soon after arriving in this land. However, I was rather perplexed. What had been going on here? Something must be happening. I stepped inside upon her offering, withdrawing Victoria but allowing Alexander to walk freely with me. I sat down with the old couple as we drank our tea. After only a few moments I voiced my concerns. "Excuse me for asking, but what exactly has been going on? Sir, you said you mistook me for someone else. Who might that be? And you, ma'am, you said that your husband has been overprotective with everything that has been going on. So I ask again, what has been going on?" Alexander was just as curious as I was, albeit in a more childish way. It would be quite some time before he would grow into a ferocious Maisa, but even as a small cub he has power within him. He sat at my side, rubbing his young head against my leg. I would have been more affectionate if not for the circumstances. Something was going on, and it was my duty to help. |
