I ain't no dead yet

I'm just doing a bit of research on this specific little corner of the market. If you'd spare the time, it'd be appreciated. 1. Do you still play the cartridge-based pokemon games? If yes, continue. If no, skip to 5. 2. Do you make attempts to attend Nintendo events? Have you ever gone to see one of the pokemon films only because of a promotional card or pokemon for the game? 3. If a pokemon (or other) game were to do a much more random event, perhaps using the fact that the new NGP (that will replace the PSP) has a GPS feature to give a promotion/award something only if you take your game to a certain GPS point during a certain time frame (such as hiking a mountain; visiting a graveyard; going to a mall, etc. Would you attend any of these? If you would attend under certain circumstances, please explain. 4. Why do you play both this and the cartridge games? What appeals to you more here vs. there (and Vice Versa)? [Skip to 8.] 5. Why do you continue here, despite having stopped in the cartridges? Does the grinding bore you or the fact that each game has essentially the same story? Perhaps something else? How does this forum bridge the inadequacy of the games? 6. Which would be more likely to draw you back into the cartridge games? A game with similar characters, but different mechanics and story or a game with the same mechanics, but different sorts of characters? Overall what would have to change? 7. Do you still watch the anime or have cards, but not play the games? What appeals about these over the games? 8. If you have no ties to any official product, but only RP here, then what keeps you with the pokemon franchise? 9. Other than pokemon; what other RPG's do you play? In what ways do you feel that mechanics from these games could better the franchise? 10. Any other comments? |

Alternia's Old Man

1) Yes 2) Yes I go to promotional events. I don't go to movies (right now) because of my baby. 3) I already go to Game Stop, or Toys R Us. I'm also a geocacher, a game based entirely on finding items hidden in GPS coordinates. So, yes, I'd travel a short distance for something interesting. 4) I play the cartridge games because they are a challenge. I'm trying to catch them all still. I play here because it's as close to a table top RPG as I can get right now. 8) I RP here because I don't have a regular gaming group in the real world. Plus, the occasional event here would never happen in a table top RPG. 9) Tabletop RPGs: Dungons and Dragons, Shadowrun, Marvel Saga System, and Big Eyes Small Mouths. Video Games: Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, DC Universe Online, City of Heroes, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption. I would like to see Pokemon on a consol, with the third person perspective. I'm still waiting for Pokemon the MMO. I'd also like more costume/character customization. I want stuff for my pokemon to wear, and the ability to change the way my character looks. And while were at it, let's add in situational context. Like when Ash uses Vine Whip to swing across a canyon, or use Flamethrower to clear brush away from the road. 10) Hope this helps Bcad.
