Elizabeth's Journey

Elizabeth gave her goodbyes to Delilah and made her way in the direction she was told to go. Van Gouh lead the way and removed harmful debris that may have been laying in wait. Even painted roots and large frozen rocks so that Elizabeth wouldn't trip and harm herself. Another chilling breeze sent shivers down down both Elizabeth's and Van Gouh's spines. Elizabeth adjusted her coat in a feeble attempt to keep the air out and looked down at Van Gouh.

"Dear, I can let you into your Pokemon and continue on my way." The Smeargle looked up and shook his head. He didn't feel as if he should leave her side right now.

The two finally made their way onto the hidden path and were checking the sign. It pointed off into the distance and had Shimo written on it.

"It must be that way. We are almos..." Elizabeth stopped short as she heard growling near by. She and Van Gouh looked around to find the source and found a Teddiursa giving the two the evil eye. Neither of them knew what they had did wrong so they didn't know why the Teddiursa was mad at them.

"Van Gouh...We may have to fight this time. Stay on your toes and focus on your attack. If it charges in Strike it back and dodge his attack."

Elizabeth held Zigzagoon's Pokeball tight in her coat. She didn't know if he'd be needed, nor did she want to let Zigzagoon fight against this Teddiursa. Van Gouh would have to suffice for now.

You were somewhat correct to shelter Zigzagoon from this battle. From what you had known about the little cutey, mainly through observation, he was an adorable and rather innocent creature. He would have to be eased into the ways of combat. Nevertheless, there was a rather vicious teddybear blocking your path, and jeopardizing your safety. Van Gouh knew this and wasn't going to idly let it slip. Following your orders, Van Gouh remained by your side and en garde, waiting in case the Teddiursa lunged in for an attack - which it had.

The bear cub like Pokemon began things off with a leer, which managed to affect Van Gouh, lowering his defense. However, the Smeargle was tough and he kept his focus on the bear. With Van Gouh's defense lower, Teddiursa ran forward and jumped towards Van Gouh, ever ready with a scratch attack - only to have it dodged. Once again, following your orders, Van Gouh attacked the Teddiursa with a Strike.

The Teddiursa growled (not the attack) after being hit, and rolled away from the two of you, now standing between you, and the tree where its food supplies were kept hidden. Standing in a defensive position, protecting what it rightfully wanted to, the Teddiursa seemed slightly less aggressive. While it was visually more defensive now, it was still going to attack you. It had to be sure you hadn't stolen anything. On your side of things however, nothing was blocking your path, so if you didn't want the Teddiursa, you could try and make your way over to Shimo City. Or you could battle it, it still looks as though it'll attack you regardless, so maybe battling is the safer option? What do you think?

Elizabeth watched the battle go forth. It didn't look like the Teddiursa was even trying to attack them, but rather defend something. She stood and started to think of what she should do. The end of the little battle's round came and the Teddiursa was no longer blocking her way, but didn't seem ready to give up the fight.

Elizabeth looked behind her and then back towards the Teddiursa. The only thing she noticed is the Teddiursa seemed to be guarding a tree. She didn't have any clue as to why the Teddiursa was guarding a tree, but it definatly peeked her curiosity. She wanted to know why she was attacks and she intended to find out.

"Van Gouh. Ready to fight?" The Smeargle huffed and nodded.

"Good. Van Gouh use Focus and raise your Speed and then get in and Strike the Teddiursa."

The smeargle huffed again and readied his attacks while Elizabeth reached into her bag to look for something. She eventually pulled out two Pokeballs, one holding Zigzagoon's the other was empty. She wanted to be ready for anything.

So your decision was to stay and battle it? That’s probably what I would have done, as most obviously indicated by my numerous attempts at coercing you into doing so. But I digress. Now, you were ready and prepared to get the next round of the battle going, and you had arranged yourself to combat against whatever the misfortunes the Random Number Generator world threw at you. To fulfill your desire to get on with it, we’ll jump right into the battle.

Having received your orders, Van Gouh gripped his paintbrush-esque tail, twirling it around eagerly. The Teddiursa, as stated, was in a more aggressively defensive mood now, and as such made no effort to interrupt or prevent Van Gouh from focusing on his speed. However, as Van Gouh moved to carry out your orders, Teddiursa moved on the offensive. Van Gouh was first to leap towards his target, and while he was airborne, Teddiursa drew his claws back and jumped towards Van Gouh as well.

It was almost like something straight out of a kung-fu action movie, two opponents jump at each other, hit each other at the same time, and stare at each other, till one person falls down and collapses. The only difference was, both Pokemon struck each other, and while they stared defiantly at each other, neither of the two collapsed, nor did they hit each other in unison. Van Gouh’s strike hit first, causing Teddiursa’s attack to be poorly aimed. While the attack did hit, it didn’t do as much damage as it could have.

Elizabeth flinched when the two Pokemon's attacks met. Thankfully Van Gouh was fast enough to hit first and divert some of the damage away from himself, but how much longer could he pull off such feats? She had every confidence in her Smeargle, but she wondered what could make this Tediursa so brass. It was stubborn enough not to allow them to move forward nor did it budge from its protective spot. What could it have been protecting.

The question just fueled her up. She wasn't going to lose to this Pokemon. Neither was Van Gouh and with any luck she'd have herself another Pokemon to use. She was also eager to see what it was guarding. If she catches the Teddiursa, then she'd definitely take its belongings with her for it to keep.

"Van Gouh, keep using your speed to hit the Teddiursa! Aim two Strikes one under its arm and the other on its back. We'll see if we can find a weak spot to target."

The Smeargle huffed, warm breath misting up against the cold air. Elizabeth puffed out as well and could see her breath. She was worried that it may get too cold soon.

Well it was cold out, cold enough to see your breath. That's my kind of weather right there, let me tell you. It was a Smeargle vs. a Teddiursa. Why would anyone want to battle a cute little Teddiursa they are the cutest thing ever! You did, that tells me a lot about you, I'm joking calm down. Anyways, let's look at the battle.

You had ordered Van Gough to use two strikes on the Teddiursa, you were right lucky you had the speed as an advantage against the Teddiursa. Smeargle rushed in and hit Teddiursa right under it's arm with a nasty strike attack. As your pokemon collided with Teddiursa, it let out a Fake Tears attack. Smeagle felt so bad for hurting the pokemon it dropped it's arms trying to calm the crying pokemon. That's when Teddiursa struck with a scratch attack. It seemed to hit Smearrgle's tummy, doing a bit of damage. Smeargle looked at it's tummy and went forth with it's second Strike attack. It ran towards the Teddiursa, quickly pivoted to the left, found it's way to the back of the bear and struck it on it's back. The poor creature fell on it's face. Now the tears seemed to be real.

You watched as the bear slowly got up, and had tears coming down it's face. Aw the cute little bear was crying. This was no Fake tears attack. Smeargle stood, as did Teddiursa. It quickly dried it's tears and readied for the next round of attacks.

Elizabeth shivered in the snow as her Smeargle did battle with the wild Teddiursa. Her feet were slowly becoming numb as the snow around her boots started to climb up the sides. The beeping at her wrist was the only thing to break her concentration. She looked down at her Poketech and read the message that displayed on the tiny LCD screen.

'A gift for you.

From your loving parents.'

Elizabeth clicked the accept button and two Pokeballs appeared in her hands. She looked up the information on the two Pokemon on her Poketech and her eyes widened. She looked at her Smeargle and the Teddiursa. Both were getting tired from the drawn out battle. She now had a way to end the battle sooner.

"Van Gouh return!" Elizabeth recalled her Smeargle and re-released him by her side. "Sorry Van Gouh. Slight change in plans. Sieglinde go!" She tossed one of the new Pokeballs out and a small yellow canary like Pokemon appeared.

"Hello love. I'm your new trainer. Please take care of me." Elizabeth gently rubbed beneath the bird's beak and it flitted its wings happily. Teddiursa is your opponent. Use two Gusts. That should be enough for this battle." The Zodinary looked to its opponent and tilted its head at the small bear. Van Gouh was giving both the bear and the new bird a death glare. He didn't like being upstaged this way, but he'd hold himself back for Elizabeth's sake.

Well Van Gough was certainly pissed as he fumed silently at your side. It wasn't even that you had sent in backup, but that you had also pulled him from the fight. Oh well. I suppose the Smeargle's anger was only temporary, and that there wouldn't be any long term repercussions or anything! Anyway, enough of my blather. Let's get to the fight, shall we?

Sieglinde was certainly stronger than the foe that was in front of you. She stared down her opponent, and then began to flap her wings. She created a swirling gale that was extremely powerful. The Gust hit the Teddiursa solidly and dealt massive damage. He managed to stay on his feet though and sensed that this particular opponent was too strong for him to overcome. Abandoning strategy and logic, he ran forward to deal out a Strike attack. Your Zodinary barely even felt it. Instead, she just whipped up another Gale and lashed out. This time, the Teddiursa was knocked off his feet, tossed around in the powerful winds like a ragdoll. The battle was won.

EXP

With that, the Teddiursa collapsed. It had fought the good fight, but you came out on top. Now it was prime for capture if you so desired. What will it be, trainer? You could also just move on if you so desired. The choice is yours!

Elizabeth gave Van gouh a pat of reassurance. She didn't forget about him and could feel his paws tightening around her leg as he watched the newcomer knock out the Teddiursa effortlessly. He didn't like the new bird and was quite upset with Elizabeth for pulling him out of the battle that soon. He looked up at her touch and wore a pout.

Elizabeth giggled when she saw his face. "Don't look at me like that Van Gouh. Its cold, I'm not covered in really warm fur like you are." She smiled down. He looked up, pout turning into a half scowl. His mood lifted after putting thought into his trainer's well being. The Smeargle sighed and conceded defeat to his trainer's ideals. He still glared at the Bird and the knocked out bear though.

Elizabeth started forward and called for the Zodinary to return to her. It gave a quick mid air turn and perched itself on her shoulder. The princess trainer gave the bird a quick stroke on the beak before recalling the tiny bird to its Pokeball. She pulled a spare Pokeball from her purse and tapped it to the unconscious bear's head.

"Van Gouh, please watch the Pokeball for me. When it stops please bring it to me. I'm going to check out what the teddiursa was protecting. Since he'll be on our team I want to bring his stuff with us." The artistic beagle gave a disapproving look but nodded. He sat in the snow and watched the Pokeball wiggle around as Elizabeth got on her hands and knees and started to peer into the hollow of the tree that the bear was protecting.

Van Gouh settled down to watch the Pokeball as you began to rummage inside the tree. Kneeling down in the snow you reached as far as you could into the tree. Wriggling your hand around you encountered a slimy substance. Persevering though your rummaging brought up a pile of items. Most of them felt rather squishy but you carefully gripped them and pulled them out. Gripped in your hand was a collection of berries and even an old slice of cake. It was slightly difficult to make out what they were because the entire bundle was covered in a sweet honey. Picking through you discovered you had acquired an Old Gateau, Occa Berry, Aguav Berry, Persim Berry and three Oran Berries.

A sudden tug caused you to turn and Van Gouh stood there looking nervous. He handed you the Pokeball containing the recently caught Teddiursa before pointing with his tail. Looking, you saw two Pokemon making their way slowly towards you. Every so often they would stop and smell the air as if scenting something. Van Gouh looked at your hands, covered in the thin layer of honey, and rolled his eyes. Pulling the honey out of the tree had attracted any nearby Pokemon. Walking across the ground towards you was a Snover and a Snubbull, who had smelt it from the city.

They slowly advanced until they caught sight of you. They both looked in unison at the hand covered in honey and their eyes narrowed. They immediately assumed an attack position and glared at Van Gouh. Looks like they really want that honey and you're in the way. I suppose you could try and flee but with your hand covered like that they would be able to find you. Van Gouh looked up at you for orders, or you could use another Pokemon, your choice....

Van Gouh had brought the Pokeball to Elizabeth once it stopped shaking. He stood behind his trainer as she dug away blindly in the hole the bear was protecting. One by one the Items came out, some really good ones. She passed one of the berries to Van Gouh.

"Here eat this. You took some damage. It'll heal you." She looked at her Smeargle as he slowly took the berry and took small bites. She smiled and went back into the hole. Her hand felt something squishy and sticky. She shivered and slowly pulled her hand out. It was honey. The sweet smell was masked in the tree, but once it was out the sweet smell traveled.

She heard rustling from behind her and slowly turned. A wild Snover and Snubbull had wandered close and were both glaring at her and her Pokemon. Using her clean hand she reached down and pulled out one of the new Pokeballs. She tossed it out and revealed an Absol.

"Van Gouh, Absol get ready for battle." The Absol and Smeargle took defensive stances between her and the wild Pokemon. "Van Gouh, wait for the other Pokemon to attack. If the Snover uses any Ice or Grass attacks use Sketch. If the Snubbull uses Fire Fang use Sketch. Absol try to start wary of the opponents. Use Zen Headbutt against the Snover first. Then use Leer."

She reached into her bag with her clean hand and started to pull a handkerchief out to wipe her hand.

So in the process of retrieving your new Teddiursas belongings, you managed to stick your hand in some of his stashed honey. Well, this would wind up being interesting. The delicious smelling scent from the honey soon wafted into the air, blowing in many different directions. Soon, some rustling in the bushes would be heard and a wild Snover, and Snubbull would stand before you. The smell from the honey had obviously attracted them to you, and now they stood there glaring at both you and your Smeargle. It appeared as though they wanted that honey, and would do anything to get it. At the sight of a possible two-on-one battle, you would send out another pokemon of yours to even out the odds. Now, you had both Van Gouh and your newly acquired Absol to protect you. Since each team was even now, let’s get on with the battle!

You quickly gave your team their commands, and the battle of the honey began. Van Gouh waited patiently for one of his foes to make their move so he could sketch it and use it himself, and that’s when Snover attacked. The frosted tree wiggled a bit and then a blast of Icy Wind was sent flying. The move hit both Absol and Van Gouh, but the artist pokemon did as you said and quickly sketched the attack. Both of your pokemon suffered a bit of damage, and the freezing effects caused them both to become a bit slower. Almost as soon as Snover had attacked, Snubbull charged at your Absol with a tackle attack, however, the awesome dark type was able to evade the move, but that’s when Snubbulls teeth became engulfed in fire. The pink puppy was obviously powering up for Fire Fang, Van Gouh saw this and took this as his opportunity to Sketch the move as well.

The little artist ran towards the dog, which was still going for Absol, and right before the pup was able to latch onto his teammate, he jumped in the way. He took quite a bit of damage, but was able to Sketch the move and now could kick some ass. While this was all going down, Absol quickly made his way towards Snover, and quickly gave him a powerful Zen Headbutt. After using the psychic move, Absol gave the tree scary Leer, causing its Attack to drop. Well this round had gone well, but it was a little crazy.. Now that Van Gouh knew how to use Fire Fang that Snover shouldn’t be a problem, but Snubbull was a different story. Who knows, maybe Smeargle could Sketch some move of its moves.. That would be nice.

Elizabeth was so proud of her Smeargle. He managed to protect Absol and gain two new attacks. One of which benefited their team greatly in this battle. She looked over her team and her opponents. Smeargle going on the offensive is her best choice now thanks to Fire Fang. Absol can take the Snubbull for a short period of time on its own.

"Van Gouh, take on the Snover. Use a Fire Fang to see how it reacts. If it tries to run and uses another ranged attack that we don't have Sketch it. If it doesn't use another Fire Fang on it."

Elizabeth didn't know what else the Snover had attack wise, but making her Smeargle as diverse as possible was her best option. Now she just had to worry about the Snubbull. She did a quick check on her Poketech to see if it had any dangerous Fighting type attacks. Luckily it didn't, but it still have a troublesome move pool.

"Absol, use Leer on the Snubbull and then smash into it with Zen Headbutt. Be careful when it retaliates. If you think its going to attack jump out of the way."

She kept her Poketech handy in case she needed to reference something. She saw that there was a notice blinking on the screen and she pressed it. A flier for a promotional lottery was shown with flashing lights. She quickly input a few numbers and closed the screen after sending in her choices. She'd check later if she won anything.

After acquiring a nice little arsenal attacks, Van Gouh was pumped and ready to dish out the damage. Snover, recovering after the Zen Headbutt, had forgotten about Van's new Fire Fang technique. He attempted to do a Razor Leaf that connected with Absol, but in the process was sketched by Van, who then flew forward and chomped down with a vicious blaze of burning teeth. The attack hurt, striking a pokemon with double weakness to fire, it was fair to say it had lost a tremendous amount of health. The Snover reeled back in pain, and the Snubbull took a stance, and pulled a Scary Face, lowering Absol's speed, however he would return the Scary Face with a Leer, wiping the look off Snubbull's face, who lurched forward and bit down with an Ice Fang. Absol countered this attack and as you ordered, charged in with a Zen Headbutt, knocking Snubbull into the air and on top of Snover.

It was a very good round for your team this time. You inflicted a lot of damage, however Van Gouh is looking a little tired. These pokemon must really want that honey, as they got back to their feet and were ready to keep fighting. For how long was uncertain, but Snover was definitely on the verge of dropping. A few more attacks could end this battle for good.

Van Gouh copied three attacks. That was more than enough to allow them a decent defense. Now it was time to finish the battle off. Thanks to the Snubbull, Van Gouh can easily defeat the Snover with Fire Fang while Absol fought off the Snubbull. She just needed to see what she could do. The Snubbull still had a decent amount of health left to it, but so did Absol. Snover and Van Gouh were both weakened, although Van Gouh was still suffering from the battle before. Matching them up by how much damage they each took seemed to be the best choice.

"Absol use Leer once more and then Zen Headbutt on the Snubbull. Van Gouh you are going to attack the Snover with Fire Fang. If it doesn't faint use another Fire Fang. If it does then fire off a Razor Leaf at the Snubbull."

Elizabeth had confidence in her Pokemon's abilities. She quickly backed up to the tree that her newly acquired Teddiursa had been protecting and started to try and kick some of the snow up at the entrance to the hole so she could hide it. If she could seal it with the snow she could probably prevent the scent from coming out and causing more Pokemon to show up.
