(OOC- Teaching Pichu Charge, Meditite Thunderpunch, Torkoal and Houndour Fire Spin (with Wingull putting out misplaced fires), and Spinarak making another silk ball.-OOC)

Chris gave a smile at Pichu and Meditite as they showed a steady improvement. Pichu was having an easier time learning Charge than Meditite was learning Thunderpunch, but that was to be expected. Storing the energy inside before releasing it was much easier than creating the energy out of something else. However both were doing a very good job of it, and Chris felt proud that they were doing so well.

Now came the hard part. Getting them to finish their training without the other’s help. However before Chris could tell them this he heard an argument coming from the other end of the field. He looked up to see Houndour storming around while Torkoal was trying to calm her down. Wingull was busy dancing from one small fire to the next that were created from Houndour’s anger.

Chris hurried over to the three Pokemon and did his best to calm Houndour down. However before he could even speak Houndour released a small blast of fire in his direction without looking. The flames caught his shirt on fire, and Chris began to dance around trying to put it out. Quick as lightning Wingull doused the fire, leaving Chris soaking wet. Chris managed to give an exasperated ‘thank you’ before turning his attention to the matter at hand.

Seeing that she caught Chris accidentally on fire, Houndour looked apologetic for a moment. But it only lasted a moment before she turned away in a huff. Chris stood there a bit confused as he tried to guess what was going on. Torkoal motioned to the burn marks on the ground and slowly Chris began to understand. Torkoal managed to cause the flames to curve, however Houndour’s went straight at where Torkoal stood. With a sigh Chris walked over and kneeled next to Houndour. “Hey, don’t worry about it. This is not an easy trick to learn. It took me several tries before I could learn to throw a curveball. You just need practice.”

Houndour didn’t seem like she was paying attention, so Chris turned his attention to Torkoal. “You know how to curve the flame somewhat. How about you give her some pointers.” Houndour seemed to look a bit better at that suggestion, turning around to look at Torkoal expectantly. Chris looked around and picked up two small rocks and set them in the circles where the two fire Pokemon stood. He looked at them with a smile. “This is the ultimate test of control with fire. Spin the flames to surround the rock.” He redrew the trace around the stones. “Like that.” He pulled out an empty Pokeball and set it on the grass. With a quick twist he sent the ball spinning in the direction he drew. “Don’t focus on power, focus on control. Cause the flames to spin like the Pokeball.” He demonstrated a second time, making sure both were paying attention. He then headed for Spinarak.

The bug Pokemon was lounging in the sun, seemingly relaxing after creating the silk ball. Chris nudged him awake with a smile, which irritated the bug Pokemon. “Hey, you need to wake up.” Spinarak just grumbled and shot Chris an annoyed look with all of his eyes. Chris just smiled. “You need to keep making those balls of silk so we can sell them. We need money of we’re going to start the orchard.” Spinarak just gave a huff and looked away. After a moment of silence the bug Pokemon realized that Chris wasn’t going to give him a break. He stood up and looked at the spot he made the last ball. With a sigh he released another blast of String Shot to star the ball with. After making the first ball the second seemed to be off to a good start. “Once Pichu and Meditite learned what they need to learn, you and Wingull will be next.” Spinarak seemed to be a bit happier at that prospect and actually began to focus on the silk ball.

Chris finally turned his attention back to the other two Pokemon training. Both Meditite and Pichu were waiting for him, though both were doing some practice while he was gone. Chris gave both of them a smile and motioned to the cracked stone. “You two are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.” Pichu seemed to beam with acceptance, and Meditite looked proud as well. In a meditative sort of way. Now was going to be the moment of truth for both of them. They were going to have to learn the next part on their own.

Turning to Meditite first, Chris motioned at the Twisted Spoon. “You’ve tasted what electricity feels like with your psychic energy. Now you need to change your energy to match it.” He knelt down next to the psychic/fighting Pokemon and placed his hand on his head. He closed his eyes and let a picture form in his mind. It was of Meditite holding his psychic energy in his fist. Meditite focused on that picture as Chris spoke. “Picture yourself generating the energy. Focus your psychic energy into your fist and hold as much there as you can. Then change it, mold it….” The picture changed to show the psychic energy giving off sparks and changing into raw electricity. “…until it changes into electricity.” Both Chris and Meditite opened their eyes. “You already felt what electricity feels like. Now you just need to learn how to mimic it.” He pointed at the Twisted Spoon. “Focus your psychic energy and use Meditate and the Twisted Spoon to help you change it into electricity. I believe in you.” Meditite gave a solemn nod and began to close his eyes. He was going to make this work.

Turning to Pichu Chris smiled at the electric Pokemon. The little guy was doing a great job learning something that wasn’t easy, but this was going to be a bit difficult. Normally he wouldn’t do this kind of training, but it was the best he could think of. He turned and picked up the stone that was cracked, looking at the fissures with a smile. He looked at Pichu who was moving unsteadily from one foot to the next. “You’ve got a lot of power when you put your mind to it.” Pichu seemed to beam at the praise, and small sparks erupted from his cheeks to show off.

Chris set the rock back in its place and stood between it at Pichu. He looked down at the electric Pokemon with a smile on his lips. “You learned how to keep the power from being pulled out, now you need to learn how to store it inside.” He pointed at the rock behind him and looked at Pichu with a slight smile. “I want you to Charge the electricity from where you are. Then while you hold the charge in, I want you to walk to my feet, and then around me to strike the rock. Don’t try to hit the rock until you see it.” Pichu looked at Chris like he lost his mind.

Meditite took a small break out of his training to mentally show Pichu what Chris was thinking. It showed the electric Pokemon charging the electricity for a Thundershock. Once the power was charged it showed small sparks jumping from the electric Pokemon’s fur. Then the electric Pokemon walked to Chris’s feet, around the human, and then strike the stone behind Chris. Pichu gave a nod after seeing the image, and Meditite went back to focusing on his own training. As Pichu began to charge the electricity, Chris cringed at the thought of how painful this was going to be. Until Pichu learned how to hold the Charge, this was going to be very shocking.

Home school was clearly in session. Such a massive amount of lessons, it's hard to believe that all of your students can manage to keep focus! Well, shall we get to the tutoring and see how your team progressed?

Starting with the fire types, it seemed that Torkoal was coming along far quicker than Houndour was. Both of the fire types tried to take your advice to heart. Power was foregone for the practice of control. The little turtle went first, gracefully sending out a tiny stream that was able to curve expertly around the rocks just the way you traced. Houndour tried next, but wasn't able to keep the stream steady. Sending a few spitfires, she was able tocurve around the first rock but unable to follow-through with the second one. The errant flame ignited a bush, which your Wingull rushed off to go put out. Then they came to the second task. While Torkoal's attempts were certainly better looking, it seemed it didn't have pure passion and anger that Houndour seemed to sport. The little flames surrounded the Pokeball, but because Torkoal was so focused on control and not power, there was no real "oomph'' behind the move. The ball stayed where it was, even though it was surrounded. Houndour went next, and while her move was incredibly sloppy looking, the spitfires hit the ball and caused it to spin slightly. The curve was less accentuated, but she looked proud of herself for making the ball spin, even if it wasn't exactly the metho you had in mind. It seemed that Torkoal had the finesse, but Houndour seemed to have a greater mastery of the firey nature. Perhaps if you could get the prideful Houndour to work together with Torkoal, they'd be able to make a bigger breakthrough. Still, it was a good attempt, and Torkoal was relatively close to mastering the move once it had a little power behind it.

Now let's turn our attention to your Meditite. It remembered the feel and the nature of the move, and was now trying to focus on generating the charge for itself. Closing its eyes and focusing, he began to gather up his psychic energy. That was the easy part. Changing it into raw electricity was harder than it sounded, unfortunately. Meditate was focusing all of the power he had into the hand holding the spoon, forcing his great mind on the feel of the energy he plucked from Pichu earlier. Then it happened! A spark appeared between the fingers of his fist! It certainly wasn't a torrent of electrical energy, but it was a start! Before he lost it, he slammed his fist down into the ground, creating a minor-ly successful attempt at the Thunderpunch! Great progress! If you and Meditite could find a way to muster up even more electrical energy, then you'd be able to chalk this one up to the win column!

=== :meditite Thunderpunch 140% learned! ===

Now it was little Pichu's turn. He was a little nervous about making this attempt, but you had said that you believed in him. That was a little mental boost that would surely help on the learning curve this time. He began to harness the energy required for his move. Gathering the charge within himself, he quickly mustered up the energy required. It was then that he took his first few baby steps towards you. He wasn't moving very fast, but it was more out of caution for you than ineffectiveness. Pichu was holding the charge surprisingly well. He had made it just to the side of you when he tripped over a pebble he didn't see and fell face-forwards onto the ground. Unfortunately, he spewed out all the energy he was storing into a few wild arcs. One of the lower ones zapped you, sending you onto the ground as well. Fortunately, there wasn't enough charge to even do you minor damage since the electricity was mostly grounded, but Pichu looked devastated. He ran over to you with a tear in his eye, hoping he didn't hurt you. Even with the shocking experience, Pichu wouldn't need much more practice before the move was mastered.

=== :pichu Charge 140% learned! ===

While all this was going on, Spinarak was creating a ball of silk, watching the precedings with a bemused expression. Or at least what I would consider bemused for a bug. Anyway, professor, all four of the Pokemon were going to need some guidance and reassurance. What will you do?

The shot of electricity was a shocking experience, but not something Chris wasn’t expecting. In fact it was part of the training. He figured that the electric Pokemon would have a hard time keeping the voltage inside for a length of time, so getting shocked was inevitable. However the fact that Pichu lasted this long was a good thing. It meant he was learning.

Pushing his stiff arms against the ground, Chris looked at Pichu with a smile. “Don’t worry, that was nothing. But you did a good job. You just need to learn to keep that charge as long as possible no matter what happens.” He rolled over into a sitting position and pats the mouse like Pokemon on the head. “You’re doing good. This next part is a bit easier. Use Charge one more time, except this time just do what you want. Run around, play, or rest. But keep the Charge in your body at all times.” Pichu gave Chris a half hearted smile and gave a nod. It focused the electric energy and began to follow Chris around as the boy stood up.

Walking over to Meditite Chris looked at the psychic/fighting Pokemon with a smile. He was doing a good job, learning to create the electricity out of his own psychic energy. Now he just needed to boost it to get the desired effect. “Keep it up. Remember to focus as much psychic energy into your fist as you can before you change it. Use Meditate to try and keep the psychic energy in your fist as long as possible, and use the Twisted Spoon to help you focus and change it so it has the same properties as electricity.” Meditite gave a nod as he closed his eyes. He focused his energies as much as possible, trying to generate enough to change it into electricity.

After watching the fire Pokemon for a moment, Chris turned and walked over to Spinarak with Pichu following. The bug Pokemon was working hard to keep the ball of silk flowing, though it appeared to still be slightly tired from the previous attempt. However he looked to be doing a great job. “Keep it up Spinarak, you’re doing good.” A small nod is the only indication that the bug/poison Pokemon acknowledged Chris, but it could just be the Pokemon working on the ball.

Turning back to the two fire Pokemon, Chris let out a small sigh. They were almost mirror opposites in their training. Houndour had the fire power for the technique, while Torkoal had the control. If they could combine what they were practicing then the attack would easily be learned. Looking down at the electric Pokemon by his feet Chris headed for the two fire types. Once he got close enough to speak to them he spoke. “You’re both doing well.”

The fire Pokemon stopped their practice and turned to look at Chris. Torkoal seemed to be pleased by the praise, but Houndour looked away annoyed. Chris let out a small sigh. It wasn’t going to be easy getting the dark/fire Pokemon to trust him. He gave a small smile as he looked at both. “We’re going to try something a bit different. Torkoal, try spinning your Ember around the rock again.” Torkoal gave a small nod before turning to his rock and blowing a stream of flames that slightly curved around the stone. It went out quickly right after but the path was set.

Turning to Houndour Chris gave a slight smile. “Ok, watch how Torkoal does it.” He looked back at Torkoal. “Alright, do it again. This time a bit more slowly.” The fire Pokemon took a deep breath, and then released the attack again. This time it seemed to last a bit longer because Torkoal was pacing himself, but it didn’t last. Chris gave a slight smile looking at Torkoal. “Nice job. Now explain to Houndour how you did that.” The fire Pokemon gave a happy nod and spoke to Houndour. The fire/dark type listened intently for a moment before turning her attention to her stone. “Now Torkoal, you watch and see how she does it. Watch how she uses more fire to cause it to last longer.” Taking a deep breath Houndour tried it her way, showing that he flames lasted longer than Torkoal’s. “Alright, now you explain to Torkoal how you got the fire to last so long.”

Listening to Houndour explain how she did her attack Chris could only smile. If they could keep explaining how they were able to perform parts of the attack then they were the best teachers for this technique. All they had to do was keep it up. “Alright, now I want you to take turns using the attack. After each time I want you to explain how you were able to do it to the other and they would try it. Keep it up until you both are able to reach a happy medium.” Giving them a slight rub on the back Chris turned to watch Meditite. He wanted to make sure the psychic/fighting Pokemon didn’t push himself too hard.

Ball of Silk {2/3}

The end was nearly in sight for some of your team. The last couple of tries had them almost perfecting the move they were learning. Others though were still a short way off. It shouldn't take too much longer though to get the finishing touches to the moves.

Houndour did not look best pleased when you suggested they should work together. Grudgingly she watched Torkoal's control of the fire into a circle. When the tortoise began to explain how he controlled the fire, the dog perked up slightly. When you asked her to show off what she had achieved, she grew even more excited. While explaining the power in her fire move, the barks and yips grew more and more animated. You turned back to observe Meditite but still kept an eye on the pair of them.

They went through their respective techniques a couple more times before attempting the attack. Torkoal went first and summoned up the internal flame. Releasing a steady stream of fire it curved around the rock in the perfect circle he had already mastered. This time though there was a lot more power. The flames roared around the rock but still disappeared after one circle. With the power in the attack down, Torkoal only really had to concentrate on getting the attack to cling to the target. The Fire Spin should act as a continuous vortex of fire around the enemy. While he had the spin and the power it would take a little more effort to get it to last. There was a dead tree standing not too far away. It looked perfect for practising on and shouldn't cause too much damage if it caught on fire.

==== :torkoal Fire Spin 90% learned! ====

Houndour watched the tortoises success and launched into her attempt with gusto. Managing the same amount of power as Torkoal had the attack still lacked the control of the tight circle. Blasting out in a straight line, the flames only curved at the last minute. Charring a semicircle in the grass a fair distance away from the rock Houndour looked extremely angry at herself. Torkoal didn't help matters by immediately launching into mentoring the pup. With a Howl the dog launched attempt after attempt. Soon the grass had become extremely burnt and Wingull had to work extra hard to keep the fires from spreading. Each time though the flames began to curve closer to the rock. Her final burst did a quarter turn around the rock before Wingull had to put it out.

With the attack not being something the pup would learn naturally, it was a lot harder for her to pick it up. Torkoal would have learnt the attack relatively soon anyways so wasn't as difficult. Houndour was getting there though. A few more attempts, a bit of encouragement and some gentle advice from Torkoal should have the pup with a new move.

==== :houndour Fire Spin 90% learned! ====

Next up was Meditite. He was busy channeling Psychic energy into his fist. Walking over you could see a purple glow begin to form around his hand. The glow became more and more concentrated until his hand was obscured by the denseness of energy. His brow deepened and sparks began to leap over his fist. A whoosh from behind you signalled Houndour's frustration and Meditite jumped in surprise. With a loud crackle all the psychic energy converted into electricity. The shock from Houndour's attacks had caused Meditite's mind to push harder on the conversion. The lightning surrounded his fist but before he could launch a punch it crackled up his arm. With the sound of thunder, Meditite was blown backwards by the electricity.

He lay still for a while before getting back up. His arm looked alright but you could tell he was in pain. This time he had summoned slightly too much energy but more importantly had lost control of it. This was a tricky move for him to learn but at least now he could summon the electric energy. A few more practises at control and judging the correct amount of power would be needed. For a challenging attack he was getting the hang of it fairly fast though.

==== :meditite Thunder Punch 170% learned! ====

The only Pokemon left now was Pichu. Turning to find out were he was, you almost tripped over the mouse Pokemon. He dived out of the way of your leg and small sparks of electricity jumped out of his cheeks. There was no massive output though and Pichu picked himself up and began jumping around. He gave you a happy look of success at keeping the energy inside. While walking he had discovered a kind of swallowing mechanism that allowed him to store the electricity. With it stored up he could take his mind off the electricity without it being let out. He continued to play around and all you could see being released was a few sparks every now and then. Well, one of your Pokemon had completed their move this time.

==== :pichu Charge 150% learned! ====

Spinarak was still spinning his ball of silk while observing the various attack attempts. Bored by the whole process he returned to his spinning. Nothing could distract him otherwise the ball would be ruined. It looked like you still had some work to do so the spider closed his eyes to concentrate.

A fairly successful round of attempts. Time for some more encouragement and tips I believe....

Chris rushed over to Meditite as he slowly got back up. The psychic/fighting Pokemon didn’t look nearly as bad as the pain Chris felt in his own mind. Chris quickly fell to his knees and supported Meditite’s body.

Chris couldn’t help but feel proud of the little guy. He was able to generate more than enough power for the move, but just lacked the control and insight on the amount of power to use. That was actually going to be easier to learn than converting psychic energy into electrical.

Immediately Chris began to massage Meditite’s arm. It was a technique he learned from his mom by watching her work with Pokemon patients. At first Chris could feel the pain increase through the mental connection he shared with Meditite, but after a few moments the pain began to subside and the arm started to feel better. Chris kept it up until all that was left was a slight numb sensation.

Looking at Meditite Chris could only smile. “You’ve got a lot of power in that little body.” Meditite looked away embarrassed. Chris ran his finger down to the fist. “You’ve done the most difficult part. Now all that’s left is to refine it.” Meditite looked up at Chris questioningly.

Chris looked back to see Pichu still holding the charge. He pointed at the rock that was used as target practice. “Use your charged Thundershock on that stone.” Pichu released the built up energy along with a burst from his normal Thundershock. The blast completely shattered what was left of the stone after already having a crack in it.

Turning back to Meditite Chris smiled. “Alright, now it’s your turn to learn control.” He motioned for Pichu to come over, which the electric Pokemon was only to happy to do. Chris turned to both of them. “This is going to be an interesting practice.” He pointed at two spots about 8ft from each other. “Pichu will stand there, and Meditite will stand there.”

The two Pokemon took their positions. “Now this will be a bit different training. Pichu, I want you to charge a weak Thundershock and then wait for Meditite.” Pichu gave a nod and began charging a small amount of power. Chris turned his attention to Meditite. “Now you need to charge the same amount of psychic energy in your fist.” Meditite did as he was told, gauging the amount of power equal to the amount of electricity he felt coming off of Pichu. “Pichu is going to shoot the Thundershock at you.”

Both Pokemon looked at Chris like he lost his mind. “Let me finish the instruction before you judge my method.” They waited patiently. “During that time you need to convert that psychic energy into electrical energy and ‘punch’ the electrical attack.” Meditite gave a nod; now understanding Chris’s plan. Pichu still looked confused.

“You need to be able to convert it quickly and accurately before it can be helpful. This should teach you both. Generate too much power and you risk hitting Pichu. Generate too little and you risk being the one hit. You need to be able to use it fast enough to stop the attack, and you’ll only have the time it takes for the attack to reach you to do it.” Meditite gave a nod, but Pichu still looked lost. Meditite looked over and gave a Pichu type of explanation. Pichu’s eyes widened in understanding and gave a happy nod.

Pichu released the low powered Thundershock at Meditite, who tried to convert the psychic energy into electrical energy. Unfortunately he was still too slow to make it work, and received the full brunt of the attack. It wasn’t enough to cause any damage, but it was still enough to cause quite a shock. “Keep it up at that power level until you are able to stop it. Then increase the electricity by a bit more and continue practice. I’m going to go and check in on the other two.” Both Pokemon gave an energetic confirmation and continued practicing.

Chris walked over to Torkoal and Houndour who stopped training to watch what happened with Meditite. Chris knelt by both of them and rubbed their backs. Even Houndour didn’t seem to mind because of her curiosity. “It’s alright. He just tried too much energy.” He looked at Houndour with a smile. “Kind of like you.” The dark/fire Pokemon looked away embarrassed and Torkoal could only smile. “Well enough of that. You two just need to keep practicing.”

He looked at Torkoal and the rock where he was practicing. “Just a little bit longer and you’ll have it down pat. Just need to keep the fire burning longer.” He turned his attention to Houndour’s work. “You have the fire down, but now you just need the control.” He looked at Torkoal. “How about you take a break from practicing and give Houndour some tips on control. She needs more help from a natural.”

Torkoal gave an enthusiastic nod, but Houndour seemed upset. She was about o unleash an Ember on Chris, when Chris suddenly looked at her. His sudden look caused the fire in her belly to die down, and his eyes showed determination. “Everyone needs help when learning something new. Meditite and Pichu are training hard together to master things that they can’t learn naturally. It’s the same with you. Don’t take it was a weakness on your part, but embrace it as a challenge. Beat it, and learn it along with Torkoal. I have faith you can do it.”

Houndour looked in Chris’s eyes, unable to tear her eyes away. Eventually she gave a nod of understanding, and Chris returned it with a smile of confidence. He stood up and walked away, leaving Torkoal to teach Houndour how to control the flames. Houndour watched Chris walk away for a moment, and then turned her attention on the task at hand. She was not going to lose this. Wingull watched with satisfaction, as he kept his eyes out for any small fires that might spring up from practice.

Walking over to Spinarak, Chris couldn’t help but admire the Pokemon’s dedication. The bug/poison Pokemon was still creating the silk ball, but his curiosity was starting to affect his work. His eyes kept trying to look in the direction of Meditite to see what happened, but he quickly looked back at the ball to ensure it was still being spun. Chris made sure he was in the Pokemon’s vision before placing a hand on his back. “Everything is alright. Meditite just had a small accident. No need to worry.”

He looked at the Pokemon’s progress. “Almost done. After this rest up. Meditite should be done soon, and then you and Wingull can practice.” Spinarak didn’t give any sign of acknowledgement except for his redoubled efforts at trying to complete the ball quickly. Chris watched to make sure he didn’t rush too much, and kept an eye on all of his Pokemon. It wasn’t going to be long now….

Derping... All Day, Every Day!
Clearing in Route 4
Ball of Silk, Complete
The very tired Meditite seemed to be starting off this round of tutors with a method that, well, I could actually see being moderately useful. Converting it's psychic energy to electric must've been no easy task. From the start, it must've been draining energy quite hastily. Now, with a bit more control on the newer element, the newest method of training seemed fitting. But would he get it in time? The first shot seemed to give him the brute force, a 'shocking' surprise. If it hadn't made him realize how tired he was, then this Meditite is in danger. After just supporting him from the last round, maybe a longer rest was needed. But he wanted to please you, no doubt.

Pichu seemed tired, but not as much. He was still taking time and had his moved well honed. They were of his type, so the damage hurt even more by the mysterious and unseen force of STAB, as Trainers call it. The petit mouse build up another Thundershock, ready to fire it whenever Meditite seemed ready. As the second electrical surge flew at the psychic type, the fist started to glow an eerie yellow. It had been his converting colors, but the attack was still to much for Meditite. Not enough power meant that Pichu would take more and more away from Meditite. There was always a newer way, like maybe having Meditite focus and meditate on the newer element.

A third Thundershock. The yellow stream went, and this time, it didn't all hit Meditite. Both pokemon stood, shocked for a few moments that the Psychic type achieved a milestone in the method. Sparks hit him, sure, but not the entire force. Once more, just one more try. Meditite seemed to start getting it, matching his power with Pichu's and converting more and more energy with him. Hey, the method worked out. With it, Meditite felt confident that he learned the new move and with it, he did.

~~ Meditite has reached 200% in his tutoring, and therefore has learned the move Thunderpunch.

The coal pokemon moved over to the canine, who definitely seemed resistant. The pride of a Houndour kept it from wanting, even accepting help at times. The help it was wanting was something it wasn't going to receive so easily. For Torkoal hasn't completely learned the move either. But building the fire up, in any and all natural ways, was a plus. But with Ember, the Houndour should almost know how. And certainly by now, with the amount of progress it has come, it should know a little more.

Unseen by you, Torkoal and Houndour had been conversing. It had taken them some time, but the Houndour barked, thinking that the short meeting was over. This might also help them if they can breed (didn't check, but thought to through it out there). But with no clear instructions of how to try it again, and maybe waiting for them, they didn't. But with the knowledge, Houndour might do better.

~~ Houndour may not have tried, but Torkoal has helped. Progress in the next round should be rather well. Friendship between them also heightened.

OOC: Hey Seenter! I wanted to leave you this little note. You might be why I didn't spawn the halloween pokemon. The reason being is that my time was poked at, and I wanted to come up with something... fun. I didn't have anything in mind giving the current settings. If you'd like it to be put it, you can maybe wait, but I don't encourage it. Request it in the next ref and someone should get to it. If anything, maybe I'll have something by then. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Chris almost leaped for joy when Meditite finally learned Thunderpunch. The psychic/fighting Pokemon was still young and already it was learning moves that weren’t natural. Well natural for Meditite. That just made the accomplishment that much more valuable.

However the effort seemed to take a lot out of the little guy, as he looked like he was about to collapse. Chris walked over and caught him just before Meditite fainted on the spot. “Whoa there. Take it easy.” Meditite gave Chris a weak smile who returned it in kind. “Go ahead and rest up. You’ll need it for the next training. But you’ll have the easy part. Stay in the middle of the clearing and use Meditate to recover your strength.” Meditite gave a slight nod and sat cross-legged on the ground. Pichu stood nearby looking at Meditite with concern.

Chris turned his attention to Spinarak who seemed to have just finished the silk ball. He gave the poison/bug Pokemon a pat on the head, who looked up at him exhausted. “You worked hard as well. Go rest next to Meditite. You’ll be training next with Wingull.” At the sound of his name the flying/water Pokemon took to the air. “Oh no you don’t. You still have a job to do. You can’t start training until Torkoal and Houndour are finished.” Wingull gave a call of disappointment and glided back to his spot.

Hearing their names Houndour looked away embarrassed. She knew she was supposed to be trying with Torkoal’s help, but she didn’t. She just spent her time talking with Torkoal and not making the effort. Torkoal looked equally ashamed, but held his gaze when Chris walked over after picking up the silk ball. “And looks like you two took a break.” Both looked away. “Hey, everyone needs a break once in a while. I should have had Meditite take one earlier.” Chris looked back at Meditite sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed.

He turned back to the two Pokemon with a smile. “Well I hope you learned from Torkoal Houndour. You’re going to have a harder time since this isn’t something Houndour learn naturally. That’s why you’ll be stronger than any normal Houndour.” Houndour looked up at Chris with a smile. Torkoal also seemed to beam, if only because his teammate was being praised. “Let’s continue shall we?” Both Pokemon gave a nod as they faced their respective rocks. Wingull waited nearby; ready to put out any unexpected fires.

“Alright, we’ll start from the top. Remember to watch each other the give advice on how it’s done. Houndour you start first.” Houndour released her blast of flames towards the stone. Like before it curved towards the rock but didn’t surround it. The fire/dark Pokemon looked disappointed, and looked away when Torkoal tried to explain it. “Don’t give up Houndour. Learning takes time, and this isn’t easy. Just learn from Torkoal and improve.” Houndour looked at Chris and gave a nod, and then turned to listen to Torkoal. Next was Torkoal’s turn, and he listened to hints and tips from Houndour without question.

Ball of Silk - Resting {1/2}

With Meditite having completed his move he peacefully began to concentrate on resting himself. Spinarak took the same approach and began to relax after the effort he put into making silk. Wingull had flown down to see if he could get a rest too but while the two fire types were training he was still on duty. Looking slightly tired with the whole process he flew back into the air and began to circle above the pair of fire types. Hopefully this wouldn't take too much longer, at least Houndour seems to be more open to advice now. With Torkoal having almost mastered the move, his help could have Houndour even closer to success in less time.

Houndour's first attempt was no better than the previous ones. The stream of fire began to curve around the stone but failed to maintain the spin of flames the move needed. Looking slightly dejected with his attempt he grumpily began to listen to Torkoal's explanation of how to make the fire spin. With them nattering away in Pokemon talk you couldn't understand a thing. Houndour began to yap back after Torkoal had finished his explanation. A series of back and forth began to develop with each Pokemon replying to the other. Eventually they fell quiet and Torkoal turned to take his first attempt.

Taking a deep breath he released the fire in a steady stream towards the rock. The flames roared up and began to spin in perfect circles around the stone. Despite dying down slightly, after the initial flare, they continued to blaze up at intervals. What you witnessed was a perfect execution of the move Fire Spin. Torkoal looked pleased with the result and gave Houndour an encouraging nudge to give it another go. Having seen what the move should look like gave Houndour the confidence to put his all into it. With a howl he blasted out a stream of flames.

The heat from it caused you to take a step back as the fire rushed towards the rock. As it neared it began to spin in the same perfect circles that Torkoal's had. Thinking he had mastered the move Houndour began to yap happily. As you watched though the flames suddenly went out with a loud whoosh. Houndour had put far too much power into the move and the flames had self-extinguished. Houndour looked disappointed with the new development and turned to you. He had done well though, the attack was almost there. A portion more control and he would have the move under his belt...

Bending down Chris gave the fire/dark Pokemon a gentle rub on the head. Houndour didn’t seem to mind it so much now which made it easier on Chris. He didn’t like being set on fire anyways. He stood back up and motioned to the rock. “You’re doing a great job. Just need to hold back the flames a little bit more.”

Turning to look back at his Pokemon waiting and resting Chris let out a satisfied sigh. After a day of training his Pokemon seemed to be doing decently well. Almost all of them had learned their respective moves, and were resting comfortably afterwards. Even a complex move like Thunder Punch was learned by Meditite, after a few setbacks.

Glancing at the sky Chris knew they had to wrap this up shortly and turned back to the two fire types. “Alright this time we’ll do repetitions. Torkoal will use Fire Spin first and Houndour will try to copy it. Try to use the same amount of power as Torkoal.” Both Pokemon gave him a nod and turned to their respective rocks.

However before they could launch their attacks Chris walked in front and removed Houndour’s rock. The fire/dark Pokemon looked up at Chris confused and hurt. “Don’t worry; this isn’t a reflection on you. Both of you are going to be alternating your attacks so you don’t need two rocks. Watch the flames on Torkoal’s rock and then try to use the same amount of power on the same rock. I trust in you.”

Houndour gave Chris a grateful smile and nodded before turning to the rock. Torkoal smiled as well, and then launched the completed Fire Spin on the rock. Houndour watched carefully and proceeded to try and mimic the attack.

Route 4 - Clearing
Low Quality Silk - Resting [2/2]
Low Quality Silk - Production [0/3]

Pichu and Meditite rested in the clearing, each making sure the other didn't get into any trouble. Their training together must've given them some sort of bond. Not hard to imagine considering the nature of the training. Once someone's been inside your mind and vice versa it's hard to break that connection. Wingull waited a little impatiently to begin his training. He's been watching all day and was excited to see what you had in store for him. Spinarak felt pretty well rested by now, and wandered over to you. Close enough that he could be by your side at a moment's notice, but far enough away that the fire from the current tutoring wouldn't pose any immediate danger. While all of this was going on, Torkoal gave Houndour some last minute pointers on how to perfect her Fire Spin. It's a life of multitasking, that of a trainer. But boy is it rewarding.

Houndour listened carefully to Torkoal's advice, whatever it may have been. There really is no way to understand what they were saying, but it was sure to be productive. Torkoal looked at the rock and gave a nice blast of fire. It curved around the rock and remained there for a little while until it fizzled out of existence. Houndour took a deep breath and attempted to replicate the effect. Keeping her first mistake in mind, she kept the flow of the blast controlled and didn't put too much strength in the initial burst. After a moment she stopped providing additional flame to the attack and held her breath. Lo and behold, it remained where it was around the rock without disappearing instantly! Hooray! Looks like she's done it!

:houndour Fire Spin: 150%/150% Mastered!

Houndour gave a howl of pride into the air. She felt like she could do anything. In her excitement she blasted little flames all over the clearing, but Wingull was quick to put them out. Torkoal chuckled at the hound's behaviour, and you couldn't help but feel a smile creep onto your face. After all, it was a rather funny display of emotion. Once she noticed everyone's eyes were on her, Houndour immediately stopped her jubilations and attempted to look cool, almost a "yeah, I did it, whatever" sort of look, which only ended up bringing more laughter.

Well, Wingull's turn was finally up. The bird flew around in the air in excitement and awaited your orders. You promised him some training, now's the time to deliver. Spinarak walked over a bit closer now that the risk of getting fried was gone and he too was excited to hear what training was in store for him. So, now it's your turn trainer, tutor to your heart's content!

Walking over to the dark/fire type Chris placed his hand on her head and knelt down. He began to rub it in an affectionate way even as Houndour looked a bit embarrassed. “Good job. All you had to do was dial down the heat a bit.” Houndour looked away, her embarrassment now slightly coloring her cheeks red.

Standing up Chris looked at his other two Pokemon. Both seemed more than eager to trainm but Chris wasn’t ready. He had to do two things first. The main thing that had to be done was for Meditite to fully recover. The kind of training Chris had in mind rested heavily on the psychic/fighting Pokemon’s abilities. The second was to find and purchase the plot of land where he can begin his berry farm.

He gave the two eager Pokemon an apologetic smile and held up his hand. “Unfortunately we can’t start right now.” Wingull let out a call of disappointment and Spinarak looked like he was ready to attack.

Chris quickly held up his hands in surrender. “It’s not that I’m trying to get out of it.” He motioned to Meditite resting in the clearing. “It’s that the one that will be helping you it a bit tuckered out.” Meditite looked at them curiously. “He’s the one that will be helping with your training. Until he’s recovered all training will have to be put on hold.”

Both Pokemon looked at Meditite and sighed. Wingull seemed to accept it more than Spinarak, but eventually the bug/poison Pokemon also agreed. Meditite tried to stand to show he was ready right now, but only wobbled on his legs before falling on his face. Pichu helped to right him again.

Slipping out the Pokeballs Chris motioned to each of them. “We’re going back in town so you guys can recover and I can get some shopping done. I’m hoping to finally purchase the land needed for the berry farm and we can train there.” His Pokemon seemed to accept this and returned to their Pokeballs without question. Chris slipped them into belt and headed for town.

Once in town Chris walked to the Pokemon Center and left his Pokemon to recover. He then looked for a store that would buy his Low Quality Silk (x2), his Grand Festival ‘10 Token, and his Grand Festival ‘10 Cabinet Painting. Both were gifts from a long time ago, and ones he heard could be sold for a good amount of money after some time passed. Besides, he already got the ‘11 versions. Afterwards he would see about finding someone he can buy the land from in order to start his berry farm.

The door opened to the store; the clerk looked over, hearing the bell get hit when the door swung wide. It wasn't that busy, so you got first dibs on the front counter. It was a middle aged guy behind the counter, smiling, greeting you with a warm atmosphere. His eyes were like slits, as if the sun was piercing the walls of store. Maybe he was Asian. While his nationality was important to him, it was not to you. The items that you placed on the mat seemed to intrigue him. He picked them up, taking the silk balls first, followed by the festival items. You got a large sum of money back. You nearly emptied the cash register out!

"You must be cashing in to buy something big!" The clerk said, smiling still. With his job done, and your goal done, you left for the Pokemon Center to heal up.

The door slid open and heads turned. Everyone was curious to see who else was coming in and what new situations awaited the Center. The Nurse was at the desk, smiling as wide as the PokeMart clerk. The pokeballs you put up were taken right away and the machine lit up and flashes popped in your eyes.

"Selling land here!" A deep voice echoed throughout the building. No one seemed as interested as you. It was just what you were looking for. With a gentle stride, you slipped through the small three-man crowd and got front row seats. "I'm selling an acre in Nogou OR Millenia. Any takers?" He seemed to be looking you down, knowing you'd break. Those, how would you ask him? Would you have details that you'd ask about?

Slipping through the crowd Chris faced the one selling land. It was almost like fate wanted him to start his berry farm, but he couldn’t relax just yet. He had to get information first.

“I’m interested in buying land. Where are they located and how much?” There were several more questions he wanted answered, but those were the two pressing ones. Depending on the answers would let him know if this deal was legit or not.

He couldn’t afford to buy land that wasn’t for sale, and someone yelling in the Pokemon Center didn’t seem all that trustworthy. He kept a firm grip on his backpack and his Pokeballs to make sure neither were pilfered while he spoke to this man. He’d seen plenty of shows where a thief might be able to profit from such a loudmouth.

~Pokemon Center ~

You asked the right questions, the important ones. People might have asked him what the catch was, but you knew how to get to the point of things, how to weed the fake deals from the real ones. Luckily, you were also quite intelligent when it came to large gatherings. You held your bag tight, making sure you wouldn't lose it to any quick handed thieves. The man looked you over, finding you to be a bit young to be interested in land, but still would play along with your questions. "Well, the land near here is off to the west a bit...right off of Route 4. I'm selling it for three thousand. While the land near Nogou village is right on the northern outskirts of the Forest of Legend. That land is worth eight thousands." His prices and now told and obvious, while you on the other hand had the next move in this possible economic tussle.

Still, the man was probing questions from other people as well that seemed interested, detailing how the lands were...the details were scarce but they both seemed like a decent plot of land from the sounds of it from the gentlemen. Yet, there was something odd about the male, or maybe it was that he was hoping that he wasn't giving up such precious land for too little return on his investments. He looked back down to you. "But I'll knock five hundred off the asking price for the Millenia farm for a limited time only." He seemed to want to sell that patch of land quickly and without a problem. Of course, it was much cheaper then the other but probably had it's fair share discord if he was willing to give it up so easily.

Chris looked at the man curiously and then began to check his backpack. To most everyone it seemed like he was looking to see how much money he had on him. However that was only part of the reason after he closed up his bag. He wanted to property, but that didn’t mean he was stupid enough to fall for a trap.

He quickly walked to the nurse’s station and borrowed a piece of paper and pen. He quickly wrote down on the piece of paper and drew a line on the bottom. He walked over to the man who was selling the property and held out the paper. “I would really like the piece of land nearby, but the price seems too good to be true. If you don’t mind signing this paper I would be willing to pay for the full $3000 amount.”

As he handed the paper to the man Chris took a step back to let him read:

“I promise to sell this land to Chris Seenter at $3000 as is without any additional costs or problems that could be avoided by my own negligence. If there are any problems that Chris faces after purchasing this land that were present at the time of sale that he can not resolve by himself I promise to lend the aid required to resolve the problems.”

At the bottom of the paper an ‘X’ followed by a line was drawn. Chris opened up his jacket to show the Pokeballs he carried. “I have the Pokemon needed to help me with any problems of those nature. But if there are any legal issues that might arise then I might need help. If you don’t mind this then sign that paper and I’ll buy that land from you right here.”
