“Nice job Meditite.” Chris praised his Pokemon for a job well done. Avoiding the first attack was great, as it allowed Meditite to counter with Confusion. That with the poison from Torkoal’s Smog, Yanmega was in a bit of trouble. Unfortunately the bug Pokemon recovered quickly and managed to land that Sonic Boom anyways. Now it was a battle of endurance.
Chris looked at Vincent with a slight smirk. “Sorry, but Meditite is the only Pokemon you’ll see.” He pointed at Yanmega and gave the orders to Meditite. “Keep it up Meditite. Remember to keep track of Yanmega with your mind and not with your eyes. If it attacks from a distance use Detect again to dodge and follow up with Confusion. If it gets up close again I want you to dodge and counter with a Strike.” Meditite gave a nod of understanding, as he watched Yanmega carefully. Actions: Ordered the same as before. |

Route 4 Vincent was getting a bit annoyed. Detect seemed to have worked in the last round, so the chances were slim that it’d be used successfully in this round. While wanting to take advantage of that, the Meditite could still try and distract the bug type. Of course, the statement you said about not seeing the other pokemon only made him frown. That wasn’t Vincent trying to be too egotistical, but more of a want as well. The focus was a lot on him, so the boy took a few seconds to access the situation. After the said time, Vincent seemed to have a light bulb pop on over his head. ”Yanmega, go in for two Sonic Booms and a Quick Attack. Finish the Meditite off!” Nearly shouting at the top of his lungs, Vincent smirked. His short term goal was in reach and it was time that he tried. Seeing the bug jerk forward, it was too quick for Meditite anymore. The air waves seemed to push Meditite downward with a pressure. Anytime around and the Meditite tried to use Detect, though as it seems Vincent was quite lucky. The Detect failed and the air waves pushed down the fighting type. But the little guy had fight in him; with a pink glow, the Meditite sent out a Confusion, catching Yanmega and attacking it internally. It was a valiant effort, but one that only took away a chunk. Meditite was suddenly flung towards you, coming to a skidding stop at your feet. A brutal finish, but Yanmega’s Quick Attack was just… too quick! ”Looks like I will be seeing another pokemon. You’re doing good, I must say.” Vincent said, having the Yanmega return to his side as he gave it a gentle pet on its head. You -- Vincent Level 14 25 / 53 69%+3 Speed | Ability -2 HP | Poison |

Chris watched as Meditite fought valiantly against the strong flying bug. He cringed when the Detect failed, and had to look away when the two Sonic Booms hit. He turned to see Meditite fight back with a Confusion, but was unable to avoid the Quick Attack that soon followed. He watched as the fighting/psychic Pokemon fell to the floor, out cold by the last blow. Pulling out the Pokeball, Chris called back the exhausted Pokemon. He looked at the sphere with a smile. “You did a great job Meditite. You deserve a natural rest.” He stuck the Pokeball in his jacket and looked over at Vincent. The boy was arrogant, self centered, and cocky. He apparently forgot that Chris trounced his Pokemon last time, and this time it was a close call. And the boy called out that a new Pokemon be released, which made all those things more apparent. Chris was about to walk away and not deal with the braggart, but he stayed. He stayed because he didn’t want that Houndour to suffer because of her owner. He slipped a Pokeball out of his jacket with a slight smirk. This would not only help him out, but really piss off Vincent in the process. He tossed the Pokeball in the air, calling out the Pokemon inside. “Come on Wingull. Let’s show that Yanmega a thing or two about owning the sky.” The flaying/water Pokemon appeared in mid air, gliding slowly to the ground and landing with a purpose. It looked up at the flying bug and let out a loud call. “Wingull.” Chris mentally thought of the Pokemon’s attacks and pointed at the Yanmega. “Wingull, use your Super Sonic as loud as you can, and then follow up with a Growl!” If he could confuse his opponent, then it gave him a better chance of winning the fight. And even if Yanmega wasn’t confused, lowering its’ attack would reduce the damage Wingull took and might allow the flying/water Pokemon time to wait out the poison. “Fly low to the ground, and use the wind to give you more time to dodge.” Wingull took off ready to bring this fight to Yanmega. Chris just watched, hoping this would work.[/color] Edited by Seenter, Jun 23 2011, 02:34 AM.

Route 4 Things were heating up. Of course, not literally. You seemed to be trying to find a way, a method of some sort, to pull off a victory from Vincent once more. He cheated you once, but his tricks only got you to keep battling him. Maybe to just help train his pokemon. Winning pokemon get good experience, so he was trying to win against you no matter the cost. He didn’t want the other pokemon, the Houndour, as much as you did. So you kept pressing the matter. Wingull came out and your orders didn’t seem that offensive at all. In fact, you won’t be actually attacking this round. Setting off, Wingull had a few ideas of how he could pull each move off. But it didn’t seem so good when the Yanmega took off after it. With his ability, Yanmega’s speed was at a tremendous amount, making it able to get to the Wingull before anything was done from the bird. Unfortunately, it came in the form of a Bug Bite. But that was okay, because Wingull had a natural resistance to bug type. Even with it, however, it did some good damage. Mediocre, but enough. A Supersonic at point blank didn’t seem to effect the bug as much as you hoped. Something also happened inside of the bug; the poison from before seemed to “awaken”, or find its path to heighten itself to what it should originally be. It’ll help you a lot, especially with the growl Wingull let go. You ![]() Level 10 36 / 45 93%Vincent Level 14 18 / 53 60%+4 Speed | Ability -7 HP | Poison |

Chris almost did a fist pump in the air, but restrained himself as he focused on the battle. While the Super Sonic didn't quite confuse the flying bug like he hoped, it seemed another of his status conditions seemed to be increasing. The poison was slowly growing stronger. And he didn’t know if it was the Super Sonic that triggered it or if the poison finally had time to circulate. Either way it was quickly draining the bug’s strength. Pointing at the Yanmega Chris delivered his next orders. “Wingull, use another Growl followed by a Water Gun. Do your best to avoid Yanmega, and if you have to use Water Gun on the ground to push yourself out of harms way.” If Wingull could survive long enough, then the poison could finish its job and end the battle. He wasn’t sure if Vincent would let him have the Houndour, especially since Chris had used three Pokemon to his two. Chris really wanted the fire/dark type, if anything because it would make a great guard dog for his plans in the future. He watched intently as the battle continued to unfold. |

Route 4 The poison coursing through Yanmega’s veins had been helping a lot. The power of poison is awesome. Yanmega’s speed was rising, to the point where soon Wingull might not get too many hits. Luckily, you have the poison to back you up. Before it got that way, your bird was able to get his Growl in, dropping the insect’s attack stat instead of his health. Chris seemed to grunt at how the poison and growl had affected the Yanmega this round, but he shouted out commands. ”Go in at the bird with a Quick Attack; make it two if you can!” Chris knew there wasn’t much time. He had to do something, so working down Wingull was the only thing he could think of at the time. With the speed boost, he figured that the Wingull would have no chance to dodge, and he was right. The Yanmega slammed into the bird, knocking it past you. Before he could get the second one in, Wingull had a Water Gun burst from his beak, while fighting the water was Yanmega and the Quick Attack. Your pokemon ended up being hit as well, but you still knocked him with a good Water Gun. Being that he was so close, and at that speed, it hurt a tiny bit more than the normal. This battle was close to be over, too. If only Yanmega had less speed, or Wingull had more, would the bird be able to dodge easier. Chris watched as the Yanmega shot right through the Water Gun and strike Wingull. The fact that the flying/bug Pokemon was faster wasn’t really the biggest issue. It was the fact that it was stronger because it had evolved so early. He had to give Vincent some credit for spending the time to teach it and evolving it as soon as possible, but it still seemed unnatural to Chris. The poison was doing a good job, but it wasn’t working fast enough. Yanmega was getting faster and faster, and if Chris wasn’t careful he would knock out Wingull before the poison would have a chance to finish its job. There had to be something they could do to finish this quickly without Wingull getting hurt. Unfortunately Chris didn’t really have time to teach any of his Pokemon new moves, and as a result his options were limited. There had to be something they could do. He was getting frantic as he tried to come up with a plan, but each one ended up in their defeat. There had to be something they could do. Then Chris had an idea that might work. It was crazy, and very foolish. But it might work. “Wingull gain some altitude and try to get high in the air. As soon as Yanmega goes in for an attack I want you to spin in every direction and use Water Gun constantly. If he attacks from a distance use Water Gun on him twice.” This was a chance tactic. If Wingull spun around in every direction while using Water Gun, then the chances of Yanmega hitting Wingull without getting hit by the Water Gun was slim. Also if Wingull used the rotation well, then the force of the attack would be greater than normal and might stop the attack. Unfortunately they hadn’t practiced this move before, so Chris had no idea what the chances were that it would work. He just hoped that it would. |

Route 4 You know Yanmega was going to try using Quick Attack. Preparing, the tactic seemed a little iffy. It could go any way with the way you had it. Plus no practice, it could be a bad tactic. But it wouldn’t take much for this insect to go down. As the Yanmega went in for an attack, his Quick Attack was like Flash, zooming in with a sprint. It was as if you couldn’t spot it, and Wingull was hit to the side, but he was smart. The bird used that hit as a propelling motivator and began to spin on in, using Water Gun. The move was weak, being spread out and all, but it didn’t take much for the Yanmega to get hit and then feel the wrath of a poison attack. The purple disease in its veins swallowed up the last remaining bits of his health. Vincent’s reign was over. With his pokemon fainted, there was no more to fight you with. So he smiled, actually admitting defeat. A pokeball was grabbed from his pocket, and he pressed the button in the middle to expand its size. But instead of sending out the pokemon, he tossed the ball directly at you. It wasn’t like a baseball pitch, so you know you won Houndour for the final time. There were no more strings attached anywhere. Now with your pair of fire types, you had nothing immediate to do.

Chris let out a sigh as he exited the Pokemon Center. With his Pokemon healthy and full of life, it was time he actually buckled down and started training. As it was, his Pokemon were strong enough to fight against those who were equally strong. But he wanted them to be able to take on stronger opponents in order to help with his ultimate goal. And to do that they needed training. Looking around the city he was familiar with Chris tried to decide where he should go in order to start his training. Most of the places he knew were public areas where anyone and everyone could disturb his training. The few places that were remote enough were too small for him to properly train his Pokemon. The only location left was outside the city limits, and hopefully close enough to the city that he wouldn't run into any wild Pokemon. Making his way through the city, Chris couldn't help but realize he had yet to make it to another town. He had bragged to his parents that he was going to go out and explore the world, and yet he had yet to reach a new destination. He made a promise to himself that right after his training he would head to the forest town called Nogou Village. If he could get there with some decent cash in his pocket he might have a chance to start his dream. Leaving the city on Route 4 Chris turned to the left about half a mile out of town. He walked an almost equally long distance until he found a clearing that was big enough and flat enough for the training he had in mind. Of the Pokemon he had with him, Chris thought of the first two that he was going to train. However he released all of them, as the other four could learn and provide moral support as well. "Let's go Meditite and Wingull." The two Pokemon appeared in their usual fashion, Meditite in his usual calm meditation holding the Twisted Spoon and Wingull in an eager call. "Wingull." Chris traded the now empty Pokeballs for full ones. "Come on out Pichu and Spinarak!" Pichu appeared with an eager jump, while Spinarak just gave a grunt. He knew that there wasn't a fight and he was going to be bored. "And last but not least. Let's go Torkoal and Houndour!" Chris was pleased when the two fire types appeared from their Pokeballs. The fights against Vincent were tough and annoying. Well the fights were tough, but Vincent was annoying. The way the trainer evolved his Pokemon as fast as possible annoyed Chris the most. It seemed that Vincent was just trying to find a short cut to stronger Pokemon. However the battles were won and Chris found himself with two new Pokemon that could help him with his goal. He kneeled down to Houndour, knowing this was the first time she had ever met him. "Hi Houndour. I know you don't know me, but I'm your new trainer. I hope we can be good friends." The Houndour looked at Chris for a moment, opened her mouth as if to say something, and then pelted Chris with a barrage of Embers. Chris fell over backwards from the sudden pain followed by the loss of feeling in his face. Torkoal leapt forward, apparently chastising Houndour for her actions. Houndour looked away as if she wasn't sorry, and then turned to Torkoal to speak. Torkoal answered her, and the Houndour looked shocked. By then Meditite seemed to 'finish' his meditation and came over to join the conversation. Houndour looked from Torkoal to Meditite as they talked, and a look of surprise came to her face. She looked down as tears began to form in her eyes, but before they could fall Torkoal spoke. Houndour looked up at him with a look of abandonment, and then Meditite spoke. A look of confusion came to the fire/dark type's face. Finally Pichu and Wingull came over, giving their own words of encouragement. Houndour seemed to brighten a bit, and further coaxing seemed to wipe away any doubt she had. While this was going on Chris was still out cold, and Spinarak was playfully spinning a web of String Shot around him. Wingull finally came over and woke his trainer with Water Gun, which caused Chris to bolt upright sputtering. He coughed for a moment before he cleared his eyes of excess water. His attention fell on Houndour who looked away in a huff. Torkoal seemed to try and apologies for her, but it was Meditite who translated the words. "She feels abandoned by Vincent. It will take a while before she can trust you." Chris gave a nod, knowing it wasn't going to be easy. |

(Teaching Pichu Charge, preparing Meditite to learn Thunderbolt, and getting Spinarak to make a ball of String Shot to sell) Chris walked to the middle of the clearing, tracing a circle with his foot that was about 5ft in diameter. He stood in the middle of the circle for a moment, and then glanced at Meditite. The fighting/psychic type had the potential to be a power house with proper training, and one of Chris's best bets if he was going to try to challenge the gyms. Taking on the gyms might not be his main goal, but it would give him a feeling of accomplishment to add to his main goal. "Alright guys. Let's get some training done." He motioned for the Pokemon to come to him, and all complied save for Houndour who was still reluctant. Chris just gave her a smile before turning to Spinarak and Meditite. Spinarak was going to be the easier of the two to train, as it was primarily him using one attack continuously. Meditite on the other hand was going to be more of a challenge. Thinking back to his father's research, Chris remembered reading about psychics and psychic abilities. It was actually after Meditite first came into their lives as a patient, and Chris was curious about the part psychic type. The research described the various forms of psychic abilities, including psychokinesis. From what Chris gathered, all psychic Pokemon had the ability of psychokinesis and could use it to move objects with the move Psychic. It was also used in the move Confusion, but to a lesser degree. The biggest thing that stood out for Chris was that psychokinesis also had various forms that were further defined. Of those forms three of them came to his mind; pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, and electrokinesis. Thinking of those forms, Chris had figured there was a way to teach Meditite the moves Fire Punch, Ice punch, and Thunder Punch. Unfortunately not being a psychic himself, Chris had no idea how to teach it to another. So his training method was going to have to be a bit more creative. His eyes moved to the rest of his Pokemon, stopping on Pichu and Torkoal that looked at him expectantly. Both Pokemon were going to be crucial for teaching Meditite those moves, and they might as well get some training in as well. Chris pointed at Spinarak and motioned to right of the circle. "Alright, your training is going to be easy." He pulled out one of his shirts and laid it on the ground and then motioned to Spinarak. "Alright, I want you to work on your control with String Shot. I want you to try and make a ball of it right on the shirt. Aim for the same spot, and try to keep it all contained." Spinarak looked at Chris like he lost his mind, but relented and positioned himself in front of the shirt. With a deep breath Spinarak began his chore, annoyed that this was going to be his training. "Keep it up until you can make a ball of it without stopping." Chris turned to Wingull who was waiting patiently. "Your job is to watch him and make sure he doesn't stop or is disturbed." The flying/water type looked disappointed, but Chris smiled. "Don't worry; you'll be getting your training soon. Just be patient." Wingull gave a nod and flew over to keep an eye on Spinarak. Chris turned to Torkoal and Houndour, who finally came closer to see what, was going on. "Alright, you two don't have to work today if you don't want to. You can just watch to see how we do things." Torkoal gave a nod of understanding, but Houndour just looked away with a huff. Chris cringed slightly before turning to his last two Pokemon. Chris figured Meditite could already guess what was on Chris's mind, as the tendril of thought that connected them was there. However Pichu just looked up at Chris curiously, as if wondering what he was going to be doing. "Alright, now you tow are going to be training together on this one." Pichu seemed to brighten and jump for joy. Meditite just sat there patiently. Chris turned his attention to the little hyper electric type. "Alright, I haven't seen your moves so I don't know how strong you are." Chris looked around for a small stone, picking it up once he found one that looked strong. He set it in the middle of the circle he drew in the grass and took a few steps back. "Now, let's see how strong you are. Use Thundershock on the stone." Pichu brought his tiny arms close to his body like he was trying to force something out, and a small arc of electricity shot out and struck the rock. The stone didn't even budge. Pichu looked from the stone to Chris, wondering if it did ok. "Not bad. You did a good job Pichu." Pichu seemed to brighten again and gave a little happy dance. "Alright let's try something a bit harder. Use Thunderbolt on the stone." Pichu gave a little jump for joy, and then focused his energy again and forced out the lightning. Unfortunately it was the same size and power as Thundershock, and Chris figured that the little electric type didn't know how to use Thunderbolt yet. Pichu seemed to understand that as well, as it looked disappointed at the result. "Hey, don't worry about it. That's why we're doing the training; to help you learn stronger attacks." Pichu smiled weakly, and Chris tapped the stone closer to the edge of the circle. He looked at Meditite who stood patiently waiting and analyzing. The psychic/fighting Pokemon had an idea of what Chris was planning but waited until he was told what to do. Chris motioned to the middle of the circle as he reached down and picked up the stone. "Alright Meditite, this is probably going to be tougher on you. Sit down in the middle." Meditite walked to the exact middle of the circle and sat down facing Chris. Chris set the stone in front of the little warrior and stepped out of the circle. "Good, now this is going to be the tough part for both of you." Taking a deep breath, Chris motioned for Pichu to stand on the edge of the circle. The curious electric mouse Pokemon complied, though it faced Chris in confusion. "We need to build up your electrical strength before we can start teaching you Thunderbolt. So we're going to be teaching you something that can help you learn Thunderbolt and the even stronger Thunder moves. It won't be easy though." Pichu looked at Chris curiously, and Chris could only smile. His smile quickly turned to a frown when he realized how rough this was going to be on both his Pokemon. "Ok, this is what's going to happen. Pichu, I want you to use Thundershock on the rock..." Excited the electric Pokemon released a sudden burst of electricity, striking the rock that sat in front of Meditite. Both Chris and Meditite jumped at the surprise attack. "No, not right now." Pichu stopped the attack and looked at Chris curiously. Chris gave a slight smile as he kneeled down and pet the mouse Pokemon. "Wait until I tell you the whole plan before you do it." Pichu looked down embarrassed. "Alright. Now Pichu, I want you to try and store your electricity before you release it. Hold it in your body as long as possible before you use it on the rock." The electric Pokemon looked at Chris with a confused look on his face. Chris looked at Pichu, trying to think of a better way to show him. In his mind he saw how the electric Pokemon could store the power before releasing it, a move that was called Charge that was used by electric Pokemon. In desperation Chris turned his attention to Meditite. "Help me out here." The psychic/fighting Pokemon saw the image in Chris's head, and then turned to Pichu. A slow look of realization came to the electric Pokemon's eyes, and Chris knew it saw what Chris wanted him to do. Pichu gave a slight jump in the air, and then brought his arms close to his sides. "Not yet. Not yet." Pichu was startled by Chris's exclamation, stopping and looking at him curiously. Chris gave a sigh of relief and looked down at Pichu from his kneeled position. "Meditite is supposed to help you so wait until I tell him what to do." Pichu gave a nod and lowered his hands. Turning to Meditite, Chris figured it was easier to show than tell the psychic Pokemon what he wanted. So he closed his eyes and pictured Meditite using Meditate and Confusion to help keep the charge inside of Pichu's body, forcefully until the electric Pokemon couldn't hold it anymore and let it be released. He also thought of Meditite feeling the electricity strike the rock with his Meditate, and feel what it was like and how he might be able to create it. If things went well, then Meditite could learn to generate the electricity through electrokinesis and be able to learn moves like Thunder Punch and Thunderbolt. Opening his eyes he felt a sense of understanding coming from the psychic/fighting Pokemon, and Chris gave Meditite a smile. He turned to Pichu to give the last of the instruction. "Alright, I want you to hold the Charge for as long as possible, and then release the attack on the stone. Then take a step to the right along the circle and repeat the process. Try to not hit Meditite when you get behind him, rather arc your attack around or over him to hit the stone." Pichu gave a nod of understanding as he brought his arms to his side and tried to Charge the electricity inside. Meditite closed his eyes and focused his mind with the Twisted Spoon in his lap. Chris glanced over at Spinarak working on the ball of Stringshot with Wingull watching him, and then over to Torkoal and Houndour who were watching all that was going on. This was going to be an interesting day. Edited by Seenter, Jul 16 2011, 02:33 AM.

Nyancat Awaaaay!
|
~ Route 4;; Clearing Weather;; Cloudy Low Quality Silk Ball;; 1/2 ~ The day was relatively young, but with the sun behind the cloud's it was hard to tell the exact time. The cloud's shadows scattered across the ground as they danced with the wind, and occasionally you'd get a shimmer of sunlight, just before it went back into hiding. You and your Pokemon were out in this perfect clearing just off the route, seeking a place to practice some moves. With your Spinarak off to the side spinning up a fantastical ball of silk with a String Shot attack on a tree branch, you decided to focus on teaching your Pichu and Meditite new moves. For Pichu you were looking in to teaching him the easy move known as Charge. It was simple enough... All he had to do was focus on holding in the electricity until he was ready to unleash it all together as a powerful electric attack. You started him off by having him using Thundershock, which was a great idea, if only he could pay attention to you long enough to understand your commands. He was, after all, still a child, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for him to get distracted by something here or there. His first Thundershock was used too early, causing the lot of you to jump in surprise. However, he took the time to listen and started to understand things a bit clearer. Next up was Meditite, whom was going to learn how to harness the properties of electricity in order to learn Thunderpunch. Surely you were having a duh-huh moment when you remembered that Meditite wasn't capable of learning Thunderbolt. Actually, Meditite couldn't learn any electric-typed move besides Thunderpunch. Oh well, it wouldn't hurt to start learning how to conjure up the power... Right? So, you had Meditite meditate and focus on helping Pichu control the power of Charge until the time was right to release it. Together, Pichu and Meditite worked like a team as Pichu concentrated on holding in the Thundershock. Pichu's small body began to glow a light yellow, tiny arks of lightning sparking off of him. Meditite was almost mimicking him in the glowing department, however it was his fists that were sparking with the tiniest bit of electric power as he focused on the same feeling Pichu was having while building up the Charge attack. The power within Pichu grew stronger and stronger until... Pow! Meditite jolted from the sudden crackle, his concentration on building up that energy breaking completely. It had only been a minute, when Pichu's Thundershock attack exploded from him and struck the rock so hard it cracked. Well, it wasn't exactly a big crack, more of a hair-line fracture sort of thing... But still! It was something! Pichu looked up at you excitedly for a moment before he and Meditite eagerly started concentrating on holding in another Thundershock attack in order to create the move Charge. This was going all swell at first, until Meditite began to meld in a Confusion move in to the mix of focusing. The Confusion attack struck Pichu like a flying brick and he fall back onto his rear end, his charged up Thundershock attack shooting off into a random direction and sparking a nearby bush on fire. While the small brush fire began to grow, Pichu was seen wobbling back and forth as if he were just on the teacup ride at Disney World. Hmmm... It looks like the technique was solid until you decided to pile in that Confusion attack. I mean, it completely back fired on you and it even started a fire to boot! Pichu wasn't confused, thankfully, but he was a little stunned by the sudden smack on the back of the head Meditite just gave him. How were you going to continue this training, boy? Would you go the same route or switch it up a little?

(Continuing to teach Pichu Charge, changing to teach Meditite Thunderpunch, and having Spinarak finish the silk ball.) Waving his hands, Chris yelled for Wingull. "Wingull quick. Use Watergun!" It took a moment for the flying/water Pokemon to realize what was going on, since he was busy watching Spinarak make the ball of string. But once he figured it out he quickly released a stream of water and put out the flames. Chris let out a big sigh of relief and nodded towards Wingull. "Good job." The seagull like Pokemon just gave a small 'gull' and a smile before turning his attention back to the bug. Looking back at the two he was training Chris just shook his head. The plan was for Meditite to use the focus of the Twisted Spoon to control the Confusion in such a way as to contain the electricity Pichu was building up. However the plan backfired when instead of controlling the attack the Twisted Spoon enhanced it. That was a mistake on Chris's part. Meditite looked sorry for what happened, and Pichu was really shaken up. "That was my mistake. Sorry about that Pichu." He walked over and pats Pichu on the head, relaxing the electric Pokemon somewhat. Meditite looked like he was about to say something, but shut up and looked at the ground. Both Chris and Pichu looked at him, Chris with a slight smile on his lips. "It's not your fault Meditite. I asked you to try and control and use an attack for a different purpose than it was designed. I should have had you use Psychic to try and control the electricity, but you don't know that one yet." Meditite looked at Chris with a sheepish smile. Pichu stepped forward and began to talk. "Pi, pichu." Meditite looked at him and gave a slight smile. Chris stood up and let the two continue conversing while he looked around the clearing. While the idea was sound the execution needed some work. Something had to be done to help Meditite learn to generate his own electricity, as well as continue to help Pichu learn to store his electricity before releasing it. What he needed was some iron, but finding it in a field like this would be next to impossible. He began to pick up various stones and looking at them, trying to judge if any of them contained minute traces of the substance. After a few minutes of looking Chris tossed one of the rocks on the ground and gave up. Finding iron so far from a mountain was too difficult, unless he had a Pokemon like an Aaron. He began digging around in his backpack, hoping to find something that might work. Pichu, Meditite, Houndour, and Torkoal watched him curiously. In frustration Chris threw the bag on the ground. "Damn it!" He sat on the ground with a huff and slowly tried to collect his thoughts. A tendril of thought seemed to try and worm its way into his mind, but Chris just pushed it away. He didn't feel like talking to anyone while he was thinking. The tendril returned, trying to snake its way into his mind. He gave it a mental shove and focused on keeping his mind closed. That's when the tendril abruptly shoved its way into his mind, forcing him to accept it. Chris was about to shout at Meditite when an idea came to his mind. While the Twisted Spoon wasn't iron it was still a metal that could work. A smile came to his lips as he opened his eyes and looked at Pichu and Meditite. "Alright, this will work much better." He walked to the center of the circle he drew and placed a hand on Meditite. "Alright, you sit in the middle again. “After Meditite sat cross-legged Chris turned to Pichu. "Now you stand in front right here." He moved Pichu until he was only a few inches in front of Meditite. He then turned Pichu around until his back was to the psychic/fighting Pokemon. "Now this is going to be less dangerous than what we were doing, but it's going to be trickier." Chris picked up the cracked stone and placed it on the edge of the circle in front of Pichu. "Alright. Pichu, I want you to continue to try and hold your attack. Charge it up with as much juice as you can muster. And as soon as you feel you can't hold it in any longer, then hit the rock with a Thundershock." Pichu gave a nod. This time waiting for Chris to finish. Turning to Meditite Chris spoke both out loud and in his mind. "And you are to do things a bit differently. I want you to focus using Meditate and the Twisted Spoon. I want you to try and draw in any excess electricity Pichu generates into the Twisted Spoon." He motioned to both of them. "Pichu's job is to try and keep the electricity inside, while Meditite's job is to try to pull it out. It should strengthen Pichu's ability to hold the electricity until it's released. And at the same time focus Meditite's mind on the electricity and how he can generate it." Both Pokemon gave a nod and began to go to work. Pichu closed his eyes and began to focus his electrical power. He gathered the energy to unleash a Thundershock, but did his best to hold it in his body. Meditite closed his eyes and began to focus his mind with Meditation. He then tried to use the power of his mind and the Twisted Spoon to try and pull the electricity Pichu generated out of his body. Pichu fought to keep it contained, and Meditite fought to release it. Chris fought to keep himself focused on their work, and Houndour gave up to taking a small nap in the clearing. Torkoal spent the time watching both teams working, while Spinarak and Wingull worked on the ball of string. |

Route 4 - Clearing Mid - Day Cloudy Low Quality Silk [3/3] (not sure where Roku got 1/2 from, the production guide says any quality silk takes 3 turns to finish, but that doesn't even matter due to the promo) Silk Cooldown [0/2] You were definitely right. This IS quite tricky. Pichu and Meditite took a few moments to figure out exactly what to do, but they got the gist of it. Pichu started holding in as much electricity as his little body could handle, and Meditite tried to pull it out of him and focus it into the Twisted Spoon. The two were having a difficult time finding the right balance between Meditite's pull and Pichu's charging capabilities. At first Pichu was barely able to generate enough power for a measly Thundershock before Meditite took it all. Finally, they got it almost right. Eventually Pichu got tired and had to stop, but he had done pretty well. Unfortunately due to Meditite's instructions to take any excess electricity created by Pichu, he hadn't really gotten any practice holding the electricity inside him and not just firing it off immediately. As well, once Pichu, the font of Meditite's electrical power, stopped generating electricity, Meditite found himself unable to hold the electricity in the spoon anymore. He tried hard to contain it, but it still slipped from his mental grasp. He understood how it felt to hold it once someone else was supplying it, but he still had a long way to go. Charge: 75%/150% Thunder Punch: 65%/200%Meanwhile, Spinarak was busy creating that ball of silk. Yup, such exciting work. Wingull was even more enthralled by the task. I mean who DOESN'T want to watch someone create silk? Well, a mysterious burst of energy came over Spinarak, and the little bug was able to complete the ball a little faster than expected. Pleased with his work, he decided to take a bit of a rest before trying to make another one. Wingull took this opportunity to rest himself. Houndour was nicely napping over to the side while Torkoal focused on the work you were doing, figuring it would be his time to help in a little while and should probably take note of the teaching strategies employed here. |

(OOC- Teaching Pichu Charge, Meditite Thunderpunch, Torkoal and Houndour Fire Spin (with Wingull putting out misplaced fires), and Spinarak resting to do another silk ball.-OOC) Chris gave a little smile as Pichu and Meditite worked hard. They didn’t quite get what he was hoping to accomplish, but it was a step in the right direction. He watched until the electric Pokemon ran out of juice and couldn’t generate anymore power. “Alright, that’s not bad. But both of you will need to try harder before you can pull it off.” Pichu and Meditite looked down feeling the disappointment Chris seemed to convey. Chris just gave them a smile and kneeled before them. He pats both of their head, forcing them to look up to see his smile. “But you did a good job. Learning new moves isn’t easy.” They gave him a weak smile. Standing up Chris looked over to see Spinarak finish the ball of silk he was working on. The bug Pokemon let out a big sigh as it fell to the ground, obviously wanting to rest after the hard work. Wingull gave him a call of congratulations, but Spinarak just gave a huff and looked away. Chris walked over and picked up the ball carefully, looking at it for a moment before giving the bug Pokemon a smile. “Not bad for doing something you’re not used to. If we keep this up you’ll not only get stronger, but you can also help bringing the berry farm into reality.” Spinarak just gave a huff of acknowledgement. Going back to the middle of the clearing Chris began pulling out Pokemon food and small bowls that were stacked on each other. He separated the bowls out and filled them with six separate portions of food. He set two in front of Pichu and Meditite, and proceeded to distribute the remaining to his other Pokemon. Houndour didn’t seem to take notice. “Alright, you guys did a great job. Now eat up and rest a bit. We’ll start again in about an hour.” While his Pokemon began eating Chris pulled out a sandwich and began to eat it. He looked at his Poketech, keying up the move lists of all of his Pokemon. He began to read each one, paying attention to the eggs moves and technical machine. While he could probably teach all six Pokemon at the same time, Chris wasn’t confident in keeping his attention on all six. He could with Pichu and Meditite because their training worked off each other, but he’d have to pair up the other four if he was going to train all of them. He closed his eyes and turned his head towards the sky. Meditite and Pichu were already spoken for. They needed each other for their training in order for it to succeed. That meant he had to pair up Torkoal, Houndour, Spinarak, and Wingull. Pairing up the fire types together would be smart if they were learning fire type moves. They couldn’t really hurt each other if the training messed up. The same for Wingull and Spinarak, as long as he wasn’t teaching Wingull flying moves. With a shrug Chris opened his eyes and looked at his Pokemon. Houndour finally woke up and began to eat her food. She stayed close to Torkoal, eyeing any of the other Pokemon that got too close while she ate. Pichu and Meditite finished first and began to rest next to each other. Torkoal finished along with Houndour, and began to talk to the two Pokemon who were training hard. Houndour stayed at a distance but always close to Torkoal. Spinarak finished as well, and just went to napping while he recovered his strength. Wingull ate his food more slowly, mainly because he didn’t really do much and wasn’t hungry. But he finished anyways and went about exploring the area. After the hour finished Chris stood up and clapped his hands. His Pokemon looked at him and began to gather around, though Houndour stayed on the edge of the group. “Alright. Pichu and Meditite we’ll continue your training doing what we were doing. Get in position and wait for me.” Pichu and Meditite hurried to the center of the clearing and sat down. Chris turned to Torkoal and Houndour. “We’ll also be starting your training.” He looked at Wingull. “And you’re going to have to be nearby as well to make sure they don’t start any big fires.” Wingull let out a call of affirmation, while Torkoal and Houndour looked at each other expectantly. Turning his attention to Spinarak Chris gave a smile. “And you’re going to take a longer rest for a bit before you work on another silk ball. We’ll need quite a few to earn enough money for the farm.” The bug Pokemon gave a huff and stalked back to where he was sleeping, laying down again and closing his eyes in a nap. He was obviously not happy with the idea. That said, Chris lead the three remaining Pokemon to another spot in the clearing, out of range of Pichu and Meditite. He then had the two fire types stand about 10ft apart and face each other. “Alright, this is where you both learn the same attack at the same time. It’s going to be easier than Meditite and Pichu, but effectively you’re going to be competing in power. The first move you’re going to learn is Fire Spin.” He looked over at the dark/fire Pokemon and gave a slight smile. “This is going to be a bit more difficult for you than Torkoal because he can learn this move naturally. But with you learning at the same time you should be able to do it well.” Houndour looked at Chris rather dumbfounded, and then turned her attention to Torkoal. Since she was working with him this shouldn’t be so bad. Chris pointed at the ground near both of them and traced a line counter-clockwise around both of them. “Alright this is going to not be easy, but it’s the best way I can think for now. I want you to use Ember and try to curve it on the ground in this manner around each other. Don’t hit each other, but try to force the Ember to spin as soon as it leaves your mouths. Think of it like throwing a curveball.” He pulled out an empty Pokeball and threw it at a nearby tree. The Pokeball spun around in a circle, using the rotation to curve in mid air before hitting the tree. “Try to get your Ember to spin as much as possible in the direction you want it to travel. That’s the only way I can think for it to work.” Picking up the empty Pokeball Chris put it back in his pocket. He turned to Wingull who waited patiently for his instructions. “Your job will definitely keep you on your toes. You’re going to need to be quick at putting out any fires that appear or spread from that circle I drew around them with Water Gun. Once Meditite and Pichu are finished training, I’m going to have you and Spinarak train with Meditite while Pichu learns something new alright. This is to keep you moving and make sure we don’t cause a forest fire.” Wingull gave a nod of understanding and took up a position in a nearby tree to get a better look at the fireworks that were about to happen below. Both fire Pokemon began training at the same time, doing their best to put a spin on the Embers they generated before they left their mouths. Chris turned back to the duo that he was training before. He walked over and sat in the grass where he could watch all four training at the same time. “Alright, now both of you are going to have to try harder. This training for Pichu is to strengthen his ability to hold the electricity in. The harder it is pulled out the harder he has to hold it in.” He looked at Meditite with a smile. “Your training is not pulling out the electricity, but combining it with your psychic energy so you can change your psychic energy to match it. It’s called electro kinesis, or electricity generated with the power of the mind. When you pull it out I want you to hold it in the Twisted Spoon long enough that your psychic energy begins to mimic the properties.” He motioned to the space between them. “It’s a tug of war between you two. Pichu is pulling to keep the charge in his body, and Meditite is pulling to get a feel for the properties. It won’t work until you are both giving your all in trying to beat the other. Don’t stop until one of you is too exhausted to continue.” He pointed at Pichu. “If its Meditite, then Pichu should keep going at trying to generate as much energy in his body as possible before striking the pebble.” He then pointed at Meditite. “If it’s Pichu that tires first, I want you to not only try to keep the charge in the spoon, but I want you to try and feed it with your psychic energy. Don’t let it go out or disperse, but keep feeding it until you feel that you can generate it on your own.” Both Pokemon gave him a nod before closing their eyes. This time it was a battle of power between them, but not in the normal way. It was a battle to see whose will was stronger, and not even Pichu was willing to lose easily. The electric Pokemon began to generate the power for a Thundershock, and Meditite began to try and pull it out. Now it was a tug of war over who was going to keep the electricity Pichu generated, and who would tire first. |

Route 4 - Clearing Mid - Day Cloudy Silk Cooldown [2/2] A nice break was sure to get everybody ready for the next tutoring session. Spinarak rested up before being able to start another ball of silk, and from the looks of it he was definitely ready to try again. Well, he should be shorty. Just a few more minutes to bask in the sun. Wingull was excited to have an actual job this time and was circling the two fire types in anticipation. Houndour was a bit wary of the bird (of all your Pokemon really), but she seemed to trust Torkoal. Must be some sense of kinship between the two based on their typing. Meditite and Pichu were ready to begin again. Everyone was hopping with excitement, so let's get this show on the road! Beginning with the electric side of the field, Pichu felt stronger and ready to charge up some power, and Meditite's focus couldn't have been higher (unless he used Focus of course). They had a better grasp of what you had meant before, and were ready to give it a try. Pichu began charging up power and felt the now familiar tug of Meditite's mind. He held on pretty strongly, but of course Meditite was still able to grab a good amount of electricity. He felt the power and had become much more accustomed to it. In fact, he was able to merge it with his own power and manipulate it, wrapping his fist in it. He took a swing and...eureka! He did it! Well, sort of. He still required Pichu as a conductor to get started. To fully master the attack he would need to learn how to generate his own type of electricity. He can't use Pichu as a crutch anymore if he was to learn to do this on his own. For now, he didn't realize how much energy it took to manipulate electricity, so he had to give in. Thunder Punch: 105%/200%Pichu was still charging up power when he felt Meditite let go. The sudden jolt of it caused him to super-charge himself causing a small burst of power. Shaking his head he got up and started again. He charged himself full of a good amount of power, enough to double the strength of his Thundershock. However, he had to constantly be fuelling it otherwise it would slip away from him. Releasing the blast on the pebble he managed to cause a decent crack in it. The little mouse was very proud of himself, happy that he was able to please you. However, he wasn't done yet. He'd need to learn how to hold the energy in him without immediately releasing it. Still, he was pretty close. It won't take much longer now. Charge: 110%/150%Now we move on to the fire types. This move may be a little tricky, because it doesn't only require a blast of fire, but a constant control over the fire after it has left the user's body. Well, nobody ever said you couldn't be ambitious. Torkoal and Houndour got ready. They both launched their flames at the same time, but with very different results. Torkoal's fire curved nicely around Houndour, albeit a bit sloppily. It could've used a bit more finesse, but it did a decent job. It dissipated into the air and ground after getting about halfway around Houndour, so that would need work, but it was a solid foundation. Torkoal would learn the move naturally fairly soon, so he wouldn't have such a tough time learning it a bit prematurely. Houndour on the other hand... Torkoal learning the move a bit prematurely was one thing. Houndour learning it as an egg move was another. She tried to spin the fire as you said, but she didn't exactly have the technique down. The fire shot out a bit too sharply and headed straight at Torkoal! Luckily Wingull managed to put it out mid-blast so no harm was done. Well, not yet anyway. Houndour was pretty pissed it didn't work as well as Torkoal's. Maybe calming her down before trying again would benefit your cause. Perhaps having Torkoal show her how he did it would help too. Fire Spin: 30%/100% Fire Spin: 30%/150%
