Slipping out an empty Pokeball with practiced movements Chris prepared to toss it at the unconscious Carvanha. While he was angry with the swimming Pokemon he wasn’t about to pass up a potential trade. That and he wanted at least one of these guys make up for harming Lapras beyond pain.
Chris stopped a moment when he realized what he just thought. An involuntary shudder escaped him as he thought how mad he was. It wasn’t like him. Even the worried tendril of thought from Meditite confirmed his suspicions that maybe he was taking this too far.
Taking a deep breath to calm himself Chris tried to focus on the task at hand. He walked to the edge of the water and looked out at the Pokemon menace. “You already know we won’t let you hurt her. Leave now or suffer his fate.” He pointed at the unconscious Carvanha.
Chris wasn’t so sure that they would give up their pursuit, but he had to give them that chance. If anything to make up for the way his anger blinded him. And if they didn’t then at least he would have a clear conscious about knocking them out.
Speaking to his three Pokemon on the beach Chris gave his orders. “If they attack use everything you can to knock them out quickly. Meditite use Thunder Punch on any that get close. Spinarak you use Leech Life. Pichu be ready with a Charge and then hit whoever is left with Thundershock.” He looked out at the shadows still hiding under the water. Wingull should still carry out his orders to use Supersonic on any that approach.
Looking down at the empty Pokeball in his hand Chris thought for a moment. Then without another bout of hesitation he tossed it at the floating Carvanha. He was still going to trade it if someone else wanted it. Just now he wasn’t going to do it out of spite.

Millenia Town ► Lone Strip of Beach ► Mid-afternoon
Your deft throw bounced off the bouyant, unconscious figure of the Carvanha and he was promptly captured without a fuss. The pokeball itself, however, was retrieved by your loyal friend, Spinarak, who with his fine silk thread began to pull it into safety, lest the ocean waves claim it instead. Still, neither this, nor your words, was enough to deter the remaining two. But that was neither your fault, nor theirs.
The pack leader was still confused, her mind fogged and bitterly chaotic... and within the din of her own mind she could comprehend barely anything at all. The world was a blur of sound and senses... all she knew was the shape of the Lapras, and the desire to split her skin between her teeth. It was this desire that drove her solely, and she swam headlong, foregoing all your warnings, all visions of threat. Behind her, the last of the pack couldn't help but pursue. And, together, they met the sudden and swift violence of your pokemon...
Thunder Punch, Thunder Shock, Leech Life... the shore was a series of bright lights and colored orbs, slashing at waves and piranha. Above, Wingull had to look away, unable to deal with the light of the attacks... but when it finally subsided, it was clear that you'd won. There was the smell of burning scales and the duo were streaked with black. When they woke, they wouldn't even be able to recall those last final moments of the battle, so intense was the destruction, so complete their defeat.
A sharp eye, which your flying type happily possessed, would be able to witness the black shapes beneath the wave turn in disgust, leaving the duo behind. They'd awaken, and they'd be forced to join a new school, or perhaps populate and create a new one. Either way, the vicious little creatures would be quite fine on their own, if you chose to leave them. Their type always are.
With her aggressors defeated, a low, melodic sound came from deep within the water type's throat. She... desperately wanted to show you her gratitude. it was then that she recalled a bundle that she'd been holding when she made it to the shore, laying half buried beneath her sand and flipper. It'd make the perfect gift! Humans liked odd little trinkets, didn't they? She certainly did... she was something of a treasure collector.
With a grin, she nosed the sand off a clear sealed package. It was clear that it was worn and frayed, having seen more than its fair share of sea salted hardship. But as the last swabs of sand was pushed away by her snout, now freckled with the golden grains, you could see the shape of a familiar rectangle, immaculate despite its filthy prison. Lifting the bag between her lips, she presented you her latest treasure with a flourish, and it became clear that what rest inside was a Day Care license, perfectly legitimate. This she pressed it into your chest with her head, demanding that her gift be accepted. And, hey. Even if you didn't particularly want to breed, tutor, or whatever, you could now carry seven pokemon instead of your run of the mill pedestrian six.
x1 daycare license obtained!
Now, you'd saved her. Her threat was vanquished. You and your team, by all definitions, were heroes. And Lapras was waiting, almost expectant. She didn't particularly know what trainers did, but now she had a good idea. And... if you wanted her to do that, well. She'd be happy to.
It'd be nice to have a pod, a family, again...

Chris couldn’t help but smile as Lapras nudged him with the daycare license. But he was curious about how the ice/water Pokemon came by such an item. Whoever owned it beforehand must have taken great lengths to keep it safe, unless Lapras somehow grew arms instead of fins to place it in the bag. But he wasn’t going to ask her. She had already been through enough.
After storing the daycare license in his backpack Chris pulled out three Pokeballs from the hidden compartments in his jacket. “You did a great job. Let’s get you all to a Pokemon Center.” He called back Pichu, Spinarak, and Wingull. He left Meditite out so he could keep an eye on the water.
Turning to Lapras Chris pulled out an empty Pokeball. “Let’s get you to a Pokemon Center as well. You look like you’re about to collapse.” He tossed the Pokeball at the water/ice Pokemon; feeling glad that he was able to help her. Once she was caught he’d call back Meditite and they would hurry to the Pokemon Center.

Millenia Town ► Pokemon Center ► Mid-afternoon
As you made your way back to the pokemon center, the door slid open and the nurse behind the desk greeted you with a familiar nod. Really, you hadn't left but so long ago!
With a courteous smile, well practiced and almost always genuine, she took your pokeballs in the official tray and suggested, "While you're waiting, why don't you get a bite to eat?" It wasn't an awful idea, considering you'd totally missed lunch... and the day was well on its way to be more than half done.
Still, if it didn't please you, there was always things aplenty to do at a Pokemon Center. There were trainers gathered in a half circle, looking for new people to fight. There was an old, tanned traveling breeder situated in a separate corner, a sign before him stating, "SELLING POKEMON". However, he seemed to be distracted by the large television mounted on the wall. And no wonder. The pretty woman was making a breaking local news report. It seems that a wild fire has started on the edge of town, and was currently edging its way towards a series of abandoned warehouses. Apparently, the warehouses were the homes not only of the homeless, but wild pokemon. Volunteers were being called to help quench the blaze.
The camera switched to the scene, where a handful of trainers with Squirtles, Woopers, and Psyduck were trying to get the fire back. But despite their efforts the blaze was still moving, like a towering, mindless serpent.
"Mm mm mm." The Breeder shook his head- what a shame. He knew what it was like to have your home ripped away from you. But like that? He sighed and shook out his newspaper before turning back to his stories. Nothing he could do. All of his pokemon were little tykes and their middle aged parents... some of which hadn't seen a battle in over five years.
Really, it was odd how chaotic the scene there was, when it was so tranquil here. Hell, outside the pokemon center window you could see two wild Drowzee using a giggling Jigglypuff as a volleyball, gently bouncing her back and forth between them. They'd probably be up for a battle to, if you so desired.
Behind the desk, the nurse had returned, and handed back your pokemon, "Gosh, your poor Lapras was in pretty bad shape! But she 's better now. Just remember to be careful out there!" |

After he dropped off his Pokeballs Chris took the nurse’s advice and headed to a nearby restaurant for a late lunch. Afterwards he returned to the Pokemon Center and made use of their PC. He updated his information on his Pokemon Trade Site, a location that allowed trainers to trade Pokemon. The Carvanha would have been a good Pokemon to have while traveling in the water, but without a Mystic Water the Pokemon would be vulnerable on dry land. It was better to trade it to someone else who could use it.
While he waited for his Pokemon Chris glanced up at the news about the fire. He watched as Pokemon trainers struggled to try and put out the fire, as well as the normal firefighters. While watching the flames an idea began turning in his mind and slowly a plan began to form. With a solid nod he knew what he could do.
Once his Pokemon were ready Chris thanked the nurse with a smile. He wanted to tell her that Lapras was caught that way, but then she would have asked a dozen questions and he was pressed for time. So after assuring her he would let the ice/water Pokemon take it easy he bolted out the door.
After growing up in the city Chris knew his way around like the back of his hand. So it wasn’t hard to follow the smoke trail towards where the blaze was eating at the warehouses. He just hoped that his idea would work.

Millenia Town ► Warehouse ► Extreme heat
As you made your way swiftly through the city, you were forced to maneuver through dozens of people as they stood on their sidewalks, pointing and staring at the black tongue of smoke that slashed across the clear blue sky. They seemed tense, worried- and no wonder. It was the thick of summer and it hadn't rained in a long time. There was fear that the fire would edge its way to the suburbs that surrounded the metropolis, eating them whole, before moving on to the city.
And as you finally made your way to site, you could see why. The fire had finally edged its way to the first warehouse and the strength of the blaze had turned the entire area into a dry-aired sauna. The trainers that were already there were soaked through with sweat and their pokemon's water attacks did little to tame the blaze.
But a sharp eyed trainer would be able to see why. There was something else moving in the fire, something egging it on. Your poke'tech, upgraded and oh so powerful, chirped the answer.
"Slugma. It never sleeps. It has to keep moving because if it stopped, its magma body would cool and harden."
And, indeed, there seemed to be at least three... their magma bodies feeding and be fed by the blaze as they spat Embers. They'd been abandoned by a young, inexperienced breeder who hadn't been able to sell them... and, in their rage, they were intent on causing as much destruction as possible. And already their rampage was consuming a warehouse filled with goods. The sound of wood cracking was enough to let everyone know that soon it'd begin to crack and crumple.
And, surely, the warehouses would not be enough to sate them.
None of the other trainers had yet to notice, but until these pokemon were dealt with the blaze would be unstoppable.

Looking around at the blaze Chris let out a silent curse. A fire like this was unheard of in the city; at least it was a very rare occurrence. Being on the cost of the island it was supposed to be moist enough to keep most fires under control. Obviously this wasn’t the case.
Looking into the fire Chris could see why. At least three figures could be seen within the flames and his Poketech gave him their identity. “No wonder the fire is growing. It’s being fed by another source.” His eyes looked at the surrounding area, trying to take in everything at once. If these flames kept growing then it would be impossible to stop them. What he wouldn’t give for a Pokemon that knew Rain Dance.
Everyone else seemed to be focused on the blaze, and only Chris could see the source. He was tempted to call out and ask for their help, but without them the fire would burn out of control. No, he needed to take care of this problem. But he could at least help them out in the process.
“Alright, let’s see about taming this flame.” He pulled out one Pokeball from inside his jacket and another from his backpack. He tossed them in the air, releasing the ones inside. “Help me out here, Lapras and Wingull.” The flying/water Pokemon appeared with a flourish and a loud call. The water/ice type that followed seemed just as eager. And she was looking much better after the Pokemon Center.
“Let’s try and dampen the fire a bit. Lapras use Mist to try and engulf the surrounding flame. Try to reduce the heat to make it easier to put out.” He looked up at the flying Wingull. “You as well. Try to use a Mist to cover the flames from the top and behind.”
Turning to the three troublemakers who were causing this mess Chris pulled out a third Pokeball. He tossed it up and released the one inside. “Meditite, time to fight.” The psychic/fighting Pokemon appeared in his usual lotus position; aware of everything around it. Chris pointed at the three Pokemon. “Use your new Hidden Power and try to get their attention. Try to keep them irritated enough that they come out and not hide in the inferno.”
As Meditite stood up to fulfill the orders Chris turned to Lapras and Wingull. “When Meditite draws them out I want you to also attack them from behind with Water Gun. Keep them from hiding in the flames.” Once the fire was dampened enough and the perpetrators brought out Chris was confident that they could do this. He just hoped that the Mist actually helped dampen the flames instead of spread them. The theory was sound, but he didn’t know if it would really work.

Millenia Town ► Warehouse ► Extreme heat
This situation was very new to your young companion; she'd never seen anything but the long, endless meadows of sea and the beaches that would sometimes punctuate them. Were all human places like this? Wreathed in flame and almost dry enough to parch her own thick skin? She hoped she hadn't made a mistake, becoming your comrade. But, for now, she focused her mind at the task at hand. The monstrous flame was building ever higher and had to be quenched...
With a gentle sigh, her doe-like eyes closed as her body relaxed and she sought the energies of ice within herself. The air around her began to cool, dropping the temperature to insane lows, creating a pocket of winter. Your own breath began to turn to imitate dragon's smoke even as your skin pricked with goosebumps. With a low, melodic sigh she inhaled deeply... and when she exhaled an endless pale cloud streamed between her parted lips, soon covering the whole area.
Above, Wingull was doing the same... his body was light as he caught and held a zephyr. With quiet crooning, he too released a softly falling gust of mist that he brought like a veil over the ceiling of the blaze. And while the majority of the mist was burned away, like the sun to dew, it had made the air and unburnt portions of warehouse damp, tempering the blaze and hindering its progress.
... and while it didn't extinguish it, the oppressive heat that had made it hard to breathe or move was finally off your shoulders. You could see the trainers and their pokemon not far from you looking relieved and rejuvenated. The water types began to redouble their efforts. A good sign. But in the blaze your actions had caught the attention of the Slugma, whose yellow eyes were fixed to you, blank and indiscernible.
It was only slowly that they allowed their gaze to fall from you to your Meditite, whose eyes are already glowing a multitude of hues. Without hesitation, he targeted the weakest of the three and twin beams shot from his eye, aimed with precision at his target. It was only as it struck that it became clear that the Hidden Power was of the water variety, and brutally painful.
She almost dropped where she stood from the shock of the spray, but recovered with a gurgling of molten lava. Her companions knotted around her, giving her warmth and heat form their bodies... before combining their strengths. With a low rumble at your psychic type's feet, a series of rocks rose from the earth and were thrown at your Meditite in a double Rock Throw.
They wouldn't take your meddling lying down.

Well that got their attention. At least with them focusing on Meditite the fire types wouldn’t be adding fuel to the flames that surrounded them. That meant that the other trainers could actually fight against the spreading fires without worry of them spreading too much. Good news, as long as Chris could keep them from hiding in the buildings.
Glancing around Chris quickly figured the next step in his plan. And that was to keep them from fleeing back into the flames. Looking at Meditite he smiled and motioned to the strongest of the three. “Alright let’s keep it up. Use Hidden Power again, but this time aim for the strongest. Then fall back till you’re out of range of their Rock Throw. Try to draw them out of the fire.”
As the psychic/fighting Pokemon gave him a mental nod Chris carefully thought of the rest of his plan. He looked up at Wingull and then over at Lapras, both it seemed unnoticed by the Slugma. First was Lapras. “Move to the side to let them chase Meditite. If they follow then I want you to use Sing on them. If they don’t I want you to use Water Gun on the middle Slugma to get them to chase you as well. Fall back to where Meditite is if they do.”
Looking up at Wingull who flew close by Chris continued. “Once they are farther out of the flames use Supersonic to confuse them. If they instead run back into the flames try to use Water Gun to block their escape, or at least cause them some hesitation.”
That was his plan, and Chris watched hoping that it would work. If they could draw the renegade fire starters out of the flames then the fires could be easily put out and the Pokemon could be easier to deal with. He wasn’t going to fight against the flames on the Slugma’s turf, at least not the middle of the flames. He’d fight them on the fringes of the fire where his attacks have a better chance of hitting before evaporating.

Millenia Town ► Warehouse ► Extreme heat
Meditite breathed deeply, focused his inner eye, and again imagined the well of water deep inside himself... His eyes began to glow again, in a spectrum of psychic energy that was surely familiar. And, in perfect repetition of mere minutes before, two twin beams imbued with the powers of sea struck the one he believed to be strongest... a female whose mass far outstripped her siblings.
The beam sliced past mist and fire and struck directly, sending hissing mist rising from her magma-slug body. As one might imagine, the damage was substantial.. but she was still moving, her eyes enraged and narrowed as she immediately retaliated with a Rock Throw. Fortunately, your command to "fall back" already had the fighting type moving, and the heavy boulders fell harmlessly mere inches and feet away. It'd be one of the few lucky dodges you'd get this round.
Still, Meditite was irritating enough that it drew the strongest form her nest of flame, but the other two continued on, undeterred. Lapras, as best she could, attempted to move out of the way... but her massive frame and girth made it rather difficult. Using her fins, she pulled herself a foot or two to the left before sending you an apologetic look. She simply couldn't navigate the land that easily. Still, she could use Water Gun just fine, and proceeded to do so, sending a power geyser of water at the unscathed middle child.
Being sluggish and terribly dim, the attack struck head on... but didn't draw her from the flames. Instead, she seemed to sulk and sink a little deeper into the ground, as if the attack had done more damage to her self-esteem than anything else. Clearly miffed at your attack on his sister, however, the weakest of the three began charging (as fast as a Slugma could charge: which was nothing more than an enthusiastic crawl) towards Lapras. The eldest, and strongest sister outstripped him by two feet or so, but they were still quite close to the fire... and as they went, grass burned at their touch, drawing thin lines of the blaze towards you and your pokemon.
Fortunately, separated, it was tamable, and their absence from the main fire was making the inferno nothing more than a wildfire far out out control. The trainers near by were slowly making a dent, with mist working its magic as well.
And while this was well and good, it seemed as if the eldset sister and the youngest sister had in mind a rather devestating team up. Pressing closer together, the earth began to tremble and they began to launch Rock Throw after Rock Throw, aiming at Meditite.
Above, Wingull attempted a Supersonic but failed, due to the interference of flying stone... and, for now, bided his time...
While the attacks weren't particularly strong, the concentration of the attacks made it hard to dodge and hard to endure, and the fighting type's health was slowly chipped away. Still, at the end of the barrage, he was still standing... though mightilty bruised and surrounded by boulders, much to the satisfaction of the duo. In the blaze, the middle child continued to sulk and sigh, before moving steadily onward towards the warehouses.
On the zephyrs, seeing an opening, Wingull attempted another Supersonic, using his own initiative. The attack landed, causing confusion in the oldest, who began to sway this way in that drunkenly before slithering about in erratic circles...

Didn’t quite work the way Chris had envisioned, but it still did a good job of distracting two of the troublemakers. He glanced at the one who seemed to ignore his team, and a slight frown appeared on his face. If they didn’t stop that one from reaching the warehouses then things would definitely be out of their control. So he did the only thing he could do.
Looking up Chris saw Wingull flying in circles waiting for commands. “Wingull! Stop that one from reaching the warehouses. Hit her with two Water Guns and try to keep her away from them.” The flying/water Pokemon let loose a loud cry as it veered towards the one that was still moving forward.
Meanwhile Chris’s other Pokemon were dealing with the oldest and the youngest. And unfortunately they seemed to be focused mainly on Meditite, which wasn’t bad if the fighting/psychic Pokemon could keep it up. They had to move fast to quell this threat quickly. “Meditite use another Hidden Power on the stronger one and try to keep her confused. If she manages to attack you again use Detect to avoid the attack.”
Turning to the second ‘sister’ Chris gave his next directions to Lapras. “Alright girl I want you to use Confuse Ray on that one and follow up with another Water Gun. Try and keep her from launching another attack at Meditite.” He gave the water/ice type a big smile. “You’re doing great. Keep it up.”

Millenia Town ► Warehouse ► Extreme heat
A few dozen yards away, the film crew that had been broadcasting the fire, live, to the pokemon center had caught sight of your battle... and it didn't take them long at all to figure out that you were striking at the "core" of the blaze, attempting to extinguish what had been causing the whole ordeal. In a matter of minutes the broadcaster and his film crew were on the scene and your battle was live on television screens across the city. Welp! A good deed without an audience is barely a deed at all, after all. They zoomed in to see your pokemon launch a myriad of geysers at the fire slugs, who gurgled and hissed at the assault...
The middle child, still inching her way along towards the warehouses, was the focus of your hawk-eyed Wingull's attention. With impeccable aim that comes from having deft wings and a slow target, two sharp water guns pierced (far easier than they had before) the inferno, blasting her deeper into the charred, burned ground. Her body hissed at the touch and steam rose from her small figure... but she was still conscious, despite herself. Her self-esteem was terribly rocky. With a low, self-piteous sigh of agony she seemed to "deflate", her body turning into a puddle... but after a few moments she began to drag herself again towards the warehouse, conquering the path half-inch by half-inch...
On the ground, Meditite's focus was on the strongest of the trio, who was still drawing little circles in the ground with her burning body. At one point she rammed face first into one of the many boulders strewn about, hurting herself in confusion... but as your small fighting type focused, drawing into himself psychic energy, and channeling out water into a power torrent of Hidden Power, she was brought temporarily back to reality, and into a world of pain. She'd been pushed back and it seemed that she'd somehow loss a portion of herself in the battle. A little bit of herself had sunk into the ground, or been sloshed away by the attack. But that wasn't such an unusual thing, with Slugmas. Still, she was pissed and immediately launched an Ember...
But vengence was short lived. Your Meditite's Detect summoned a shield, and the flames licked at the air around your psychic type, leaving him unharmed. This did nothing to alleviate the contempt she was nursing in her heart. As the shield fell, she launched another attack, another Ember... and she lapsed back into her confused state, with a dopey, befuddled, and altogether satisfied grin on her lips.
And then it was Lapras' turn. She nodded at your command, offering you a sweet smile in turn for your praise. She abhorred the heat to her bones- her thick skin was piteously dry at this point. But she parted her lips without complaint and launched a Water Gun at the weakest of the trio, who was still so focused on attempting to exterminate her and her team. A dream the little Slugma wouldn't get to achieve, because the attack threw him back, leaving him in a lax puddle of water, scorched mud, and his own body. Finally, a knock out! Her attention turned to the middle child, who was still coherent and moving, and sent a Confuse Ray her way. The attack struck, throwing the piteous creature into the throes of confusion ... and now the battle was almost over. Surely, if everything went your way, you could cinch this match in the next round!
... The fire itself was even falling, foot by foot, to the endless water guns of the trainers near by. Smoke and fire mingled, and the air was slowly reaching acceptable temperatures... The end was in sight.

Chris cringed at the way things were turning out. He didn’t want to hurt the trio, but they didn’t give him much choice. They looked like they might have been abandoned. However he had no idea by who or why. If he ever found the person responsible he was going to give them an earful.
Now that it looked like the fire was getting under control Chris figured he should finish this quickly. He studiously ignored the cameras; if anything they would distract him from the fight. That and he didn’t want his parents to know he was still in town, though the way the cameras were watching that was a mute point. Still he didn’t want them to find out.
About that time Chris felt his Poketech vibrate and give off a tone that indicated a waiting message. Glancing down at the device he saw that it was from his mom. An involuntary groan came to his lips as he saw it was too late. His parents knew he was fighting the fire. Well too late now.
Putting the message out of his mind Chris gave his next orders quickly. “Meditite keep it up. Use another Hidden Power, and then use Detect if she retaliates.” The psychic/fighting type gave no physical indication that he heard Chris, but the slight tendril of thought let him know otherwise.
With one down Chris now had an additional Pokemon that could team up. But which one should Lapras attack? The oldest of the three was obviously tougher, but the middle one was still heading for the warehouses. After a quick decision he turned to his two water types.
“Wingull keep that one away from the warehouses. Use three Water Guns if you can. If it faints before you use all three then use the remaining on the one Meditite is fighting.” He looked at Lapras waiting his orders. “And you Lapras can help with the blaze. Soak everything around this part of the building with Water Gun. Try to keep the fire from spreading to other parts.”
Chris pointed at the ‘escaping fire Pokemon. “If the Slugma escapes Wingull then use another Water Gun on her. If not then start to reduce the flames by aiming at the base of the fire.” He knew that the best way to put out a fire was to hit the base of the flames. If you could reach it then the fire has a much better chance of being extinguished. He just hoped that this was going to end before his parents showed up.

AN: Ref courtesy of mod trainee Absesas. Millenia Town Warehouse Extreme Heat
Fire is one of humanity’s greatest tools and yet here you find yourself fighting desperately against it in order to prevent it from spreading to greater lengths and keep it, and subsequently everything else, safe from its obvious destructive potential. You could hear a crowd starting to form and cheer you and your Pokémon on to victory in the hopes that they would remain safe. You called your orders clearly and with conviction that you WOULD win this and from the looks of things this belief was not misplaced.
Meditite heard your orders and focused briefly on the desired attack before sending out a series of small orbs that charged straight at the offending Slugma who happened to be still confused. It turned to face your Meditite just as the attack struck her in the side of the face and neck area causing a LOT of damage to the poor, confused fire type. It sat there staring at your Meditite for a brief second before collapsing to the ground unconscious. Well it looked like your Meditite got a pretty lucky critical hit there and didn’t need to use Detect to protect itself. It looked around for a moment to see how the others were doing in their fight against the Slugma.
Wingull, having every intention of stopping the Slugma you ordered it to, flew on ahead of it and landed gracefully on the ground. It took careful aim with its first attack and fired off a Watergun. The attack hit and pushed the Slugma back a ways, prompting the confused fire Pokémon to try and retaliate. The Slugma focused for a brief second and readied itself to launch an attack, but failed horribly as it fell flat on its face and hit itself in the back of the head with a rock, which funnily enough, caused it to knock itself out. Shaking its head in a laughing fashion your Wingull turned and started aiming Water Guns at the base of the flames that still remained.
Lapras, during this entire time, had been working to keep the flames from spreading to the surrounding buildings and various other flammable things and had, in due course, soaked almost everything in the surrounding area with water and doing a rather good job of keeping the occasional spark from ever catching anything else on fire. With the combined efforts of your Wingull, Lapras, and the various other trainers fighting the fire it was quickly brought under control much to everyone’s joy.
Well that had been eventful, not only had you beaten the Slugma, single handedly I might add, but you also played a big role in putting out the fire that had everyone so on edge. Congratulations are in order, both to you and your Pokémon and this was quickly made more evident as the camera crews and various people rushed forward to thank you and all the trainers who helped put the fire out, but it was obvious that YOU where the camera’s main focus, and they wanted an interview.

The battle went better than Chris had hoped. The three fire Pokemon were taken care of, and the fire was nearly put out. It was a good battle. Unfortunately when he called his Pokemon back was the time when the media decided to get up close and personal.
Ignoring the media circus Chris turned to the burned out building and pulled out an empty Pokeball. He tossed said Pokeball at the middle Slugma child; the one that had self esteem issues. He didn’t bother to catch the other two, as he was going to let the Pokemon Center deal with them. However he did want to find the breeder responsible for letting things get out of control.
Once he retrieved the Pokeball Chris turned to the people clamoring for his attention. He politely told them that he didn’t do anything, and that he wanted to be left alone. Unfortunately with the media didn’t really buy that and pressed him even further. Finally he gave up and told them that he was going to release an official statement later.
After giving them that promise Chris made a break for it around the burned building. He knew the streets of the city like the back of his hand, and he just wanted to get away. It wasn’t for glory, money, or even fame that he did what he did. He did it because he wanted to help. And he was not about to make it a media circus about him.
Rounding a few corners Chris headed for the Pokemon Center to let them know about the other two Slugma. He hoped to get there before the news cameras managed to put his face on the screen. Also he had another reason for going. Maybe the breeder selling Pokemon might know who was responsible for releasing those Slugma in the first place.
