Alternia's Old Man
|
. : Millenia Town . : Pokemon Center The man selling land looked over the note you'd written down. A smirk crossed his face, making folds and crinkles appear. From the pocket of his grey suit, he removed a pokeball and released a Growlith. The dog appeared to be confused. If you look closely, you can see that the orange canine wore a blue collar with a small silver badge on it. "Mr. Seenter, Chris, I see that you're serious about buying some land. I don't mean any offense, but this note?" He held up the paper you had handed him- "This isn't a contract, and it would never hold up in court. As for that vague threat with your Pokemon, I've already been threatened by a mad Russian today. My friend Officer Jenny has loaned me her Growlith. I'm hoping there won't be any problems. Please, follow me into the meeting room, let's talk about this." He lead you to a door with a frosted glass panel in it. Inside, the Growlith hopped up into a chair, making it swivel around. The man sat down in another chair, and gestured across the table for you to sit. The meeting room was pretty spacious, but you saw a crack in the ceiling, and scrapes along the walls on either side of the room. It looked like something BIG had been in here. "Chris, I'm a professional realtor. That's my job. If you want to buy a house, I'll be happy to sell it to you. There will be a lot of legal documents, but I'm not trying to screw you. If I did that, it would be very difficult for me to sell anything to anyone else. So, if you're still interested, let me tell you about the property." The realtor removed a folder from a drawer and slid it between the two of you. He opened it up, showing you a display of pictures. The house was a two story building with a balcony that overlooked the sea. The back of the house declined down to the beach, while the front half of the house was landscaped with small trees and flowers in raised beds. The house looked like it could use a little elbow grease to clean it up, but otherwise appeared to be in good condition. "As you can see from the inspection report, the building is structurally sound, but a new carpet and paint would make it look better. The house is listed for $3000, but the seller is very motivated so if you want it, it's just $2500. If you want to pay now, I'll give you the key, we'll sign the papers and it's all yours. Or, we can go check it out. It's up to you." The realtor watched your face, as he described the property to you. He could tell you didn't care for the house. "Maybe you'd like something a little more pastural? I have another property, same price, but it's more of a fixer-upper." From the drawer, he took out another folder. Inside were documents about the property. There had been a house, which had burnt down. There was a septic system in place, and you could get electricity if you wanted it. The land was an acre in size, with mature oak and maple trees on half the land. It would be hard work, but its proximity to Route 4 meant the land should be pretty fertile. When Chris saw the Growlithe he instantly froze. His eyes looked at the man with a look of worry before turning back to the fiery canine. At first he thought that the man was an undercover cop trying to catch people into the black market stuff. But after hearing the explanation he relaxed a bit. The police Pokemon was only there for protection. He followed the man into an office inside the Pokemon Center and gave a good look around. Guessing by the obvious damage Chris guessed a large Pokemon was released in here. Which Pokemon he didn’t know, but he could find out if he looked closer. However that’s not why he was here. Sitting down across from the man Chris looked at him expectantly. He gave a nod when the man explained his profession; feeling a bit better that he wasn’t going to get swindled. The amount of money offered was a lot, and Chris didn’t want to lose it for nothing. The man pulled out two folders that held different properties. Looking at both of them Chris tried to imagine how his dream would fit in them. The one with the house was a good property if he was going to go for something small, but he imagined his berry farm to be huge. That and it had to have enough room for his Pokemon to train when not tending the ranch. His hand moved to the one that was missing the house. “I’d like to buy this one.” He closed the other folder and handed it back to the man. “It has the space I need, and it looks like it would make a great start.” He smiled a the man. “If the pictures don’t lie I would like to buy it from you right now. Just show me where it is and the boundaries please.” He motioned to the area surrounding the land. “Is it possible that I could buy the land next door if I get the money in the future?” |

. : Millennia Town . : Pokemon Center The realtor had shown you two properties. One was a lovely beach-side home, while the other was a wooded lot. The wooded lot was closer to what you had wanted, and so you had chosen it. The gentleman put away the folder with the house, grabbed another folder and stood. "Let's go look at your new land." He smiled, as he led you to the door. The Growlith followed the two of you out of the Pokemon Center, on the way to the property. From the Pokemon Center, it was quite the walk to get to a sign the stated "Route 4" on it. But, once there, there was a dirt path that led off into the nearby woods. As the two of you walked, the realtor talked with you about ownership, and answered whatever questions you might have. "Well Chris, if you want to expand on the property, that can probably be arranged. We'd have to speak with the other owners around you of course, so there's no guarantee, but it's usually not too difficult to find something for sale... And here we are!" In front of you was a wood-post fence. It was simple, just wooden beams joined to posts. A few beams were missing. The grass all around you came up to your knees, and made any bare skin itch a bit. As you explored your acre of land, you saw that it was as expected. About half the property had trees, there was a flat, rocky area where a house had once stood was beginning to grow weeds, and the remainder of it was just tall grass. If you wanted to walk the perimeter of the fence line, it only took about 10 minutes to get all the way around. "I trust everything is to your liking?" Everything looked promising. There was enough room to start around ten berry bushes before you'd have to remove some trees. And looking, one of the scraggly weeds growing in the former foundation, wasn't a weed at all. It was actually a Rabuta berry! Well, you're already on your way! The realtor had you sign some papers, took the $2500 in payment and shook your hand. He let you know that he was in the Pokemon Center rather regularly, so if you decide to buy or sell any land, you should let him know. And with that, you're now the proud owner of land near Millennia Town! You're also free to go do whatever you want to do, so have fun! OOC: I'll update your profile, but expect a PM from a higher up about your new Land Thread. |

Looking out over his new land Chris couldn’t help a small smile coming to his lips. It most certainly didn’t look like a berry farm; it looked more like a wasteland. However most places start off terrible. That’s what ‘building a business’ was all about. All they had to do was work the land, and once they did that the rest was easy. With quick precision Chris pulled out his Pokemon’s Pokeballs and called them forth. Each appeared and seemed to stretch their respective appendages. Even Meditite fully stretched before going into his usual meditative state. Each of them looked at the new land with expectation, and each seemed to be in a mix of awe and disappointment. Chris just gave a small smile and gestured towards the land. “Alright let’s see what we can accomplish before heading back to the city.” Chris separated his Pokemon into two groups of three. Torkoal and Houndour went with Wingull to clear the tall grass that didn’t have trees. They did this by having Torkoal and Houndour use Fire Spin to create controlled fires in areas. Wingull’s job was to make sure the fire didn’t spread too much with Water Gun. Meditite, Pichu, and Spinarak worked with Chris to clear out some of the debris and large stones. Pichu carried a lot of the really small stuff while Meditite carried some of the medium. Chris focused on moving the big stuff, and Spinarak used String Shot to make some makeshift ropes to move the bigger items. By the time they finished clearing a good portion of the land night was falling. Chris gathered all of his Pokemon together. Each and every one of them sat down exhausted at Chris’s feet; glad that the workday was over. “You guys did a great job. I’m proud of you. Now get some rest and we’ll start again tomorrow.” Chris called back his Pokemon and took one last look at the land. It was really starting to come together. All he had to do was finish clearing the land and then the fun could begin. But still there were some small things to take care of first. Or some help before his venture could really take off. With that he turned and headed back for Millenia. |

Millenia Town Sunset Town Centre Guess things are really looking up for you, aren't they? First you end up acquiring your own patch of land on the outskirts of Millenia (which certainly looks far more impressive than it did when you first purchased it, I'll admit!), then you came third in your tier of the Tournament of Aegis! ...I guess that sounds better than played one, lost one doesn't it? Regardless, a Medal, $1000, 2 Ultra Balls, a Great Ball, and a Tier 3 3rd Place Badge are now yours! Quite a sizable reward to me - so enjoy your sudden increase in wealth! Not to mention your Pokémon received a nice healthy boost in experience - Spinarak now even knows Leech Life! Regardless, with your Pokémon worn out from their efforts in the field, finding a place to stay was the important thing - I'm sure the Pokémon Centre would be willing to give you a bed for the night. Either that, or perhaps there are some hotels around? It is a seaside town, after all! However, just as you considered your options, an intriguing sight in one of the back alleys caught your eye. As you're probably aware, cats are normally territorial creatures - that will lash out at foes who intrude upon their patch. In this case, though...I'm not even sure who is looking to defend their territory from who - especially considering three feline Pokémon were eying each over in the alley! You could try and split up the potential fight, though then you could just as easily end up with three angry cats chasing you back to the Pokémon Centre! Up to you, Chris - what's it going to be?
(Note: No need to ask for your profile to be updated - already complete. In addition, no need to request me - this is not a plot. ~viperdk1) Edited by viperk1, Jul 18 2012, 12:36 PM.

Looking around at the city Chris couldn’t help but give a contented sigh. After the last few days it was a big relief to be back in familiar territory. Coming back from the tournament was a big relief that Chris couldn’t help but smile. His mind glanced back to his first battle. Unfortunately looking back at that particular memory drained any positive feelings he had about being back. It was bad luck that he was matched up against Thorn. While his tactics were sound Chris couldn’t help but feel they were cheap. Still he was able to counter an attack that was hard to defeat. He couldn’t help but smile at that. But still; using Roar constantly was considered cheap in his book. But there wasn’t anything he could do about it. Actually he was sort of glad for the tournament. He managed to give his Pokemon some experience in actual battles and he got third place in his tier. He was scheduled for a second battle for the position, but for some reason he was given it without a fight. Definitely couldn’t complain about that. Chris glanced in the direction of the ruckus in the alley. His feet stopped for a moment as he looked to the three Pokemon fighting for territory. For a brief moment he was tempted to see how this battle was going to play out. A very brief moment. Unfortunately the fatigue from the tournament won out and Chris turned back to the Pokemon Center. His Pokemon were spent, and he was just as tired. They all needed a good rest. After dropping off his Pokemon to get healed and rest Chris went up to the trainer’s room. He found an open bed and just flopped right down and fell asleep. His dreams wandered to the property he bought and his desire to own a Pokemon farm. A smile escaped his lips as he began to dream of the Pokemon that might protect it. But they weren’t normal Pokemon. They almost had a nightmarish quality, yet they were the body guards of his dreams. They watched over his garden, and protected his fields. They were his Pokemon Patrol. |

Overlord of Random

Millenia Town Pokemon Center - Trainer's Bed Room You dreamed away as your body rested, unknowing of the events about to befall you and your Pokemon. Sounds outside, claws scratching against pavement, bodies bouncing off one another. It was a full on brawl outside that stirred you from your slumber. Curious, you join the other trainers outside to see what the ruckus was about. Little did you know this would turn into a fight for your life. After dealing with the otherworldy Pokemon that appeared and travelling through their world, and ending out in Joukai pass, the one place in Alternia that screams awakening evil. Fighting along side the other trainers that had the balls to take on the ancient evil from the other world, you managed to survive the ordeal and earn yourself some very rare Pokemon and items. With all said and done, you were teleported back to the room you started in. Everything felt like a dream. If it wasn't for the new items you held in your hand you could have easily thought it was one. Still feeling tired, your body moved on its own back to sleep for a few more hours until a nurse came in to check on you. It was now midday, the sun was glaring through the window near the bed. A new day dawned for you and your team. A day to make up for your humiliation in the Tournament of Aegis through proper training or Move tutoring. Either choice there was plenty for you to do in Millenia, even shop for new items. To claim your prizes you must link this post in the Madness Claim thread. |

The alarm on Chris’s Poketech sounded loudly; waking up the trainer from a much needed rest. With a groan Chris rolled onto his back and lazily opened his eyes to look at the ceiling. Even though he was dead tired after fighting both in the tournament and those weird Pokemon Chris felt that he shouldn’t sleep the day away. That’s why he set his alarm to wake himself up a few hours after the nurse came in. Also he figured his Pokemon needed a break. With reluctant effort he rolled out of bed and slowly got ready. He could have just gone home and slept in his old bed, but he told his parents he was going to be gone for a while. Besides he already saw his mother earlier when she helped out at the Pokemon Center and didn’t want to seem like a momma’s boy. After about half an hour of getting ready Chris walked down the stairs into the Pokemon Center. His mother wasn’t working today so he didn’t have any fear of getting caught. Going to the counter he retrieved his Pokemon from the nurse on duty and slipped them in the holders he sowed on the inside of his jacket. He was about the leave when he remembered something he needed. Turning back to the desk Chris approached with a smile. “Can I help you with anything else?” Struggling to keep calm Chris smiled at the nurse. “Yes. I would like to buy a Farming License please.” Looking at her computer the nurse asked “Do you have an area of land?” Showing her the deed to his newly acquired land the nurse nodded. “Alright I’ll set it up now.” After a few minutes the nurse printed out a new license and handed it to Chris with a smile. “I hope it works out for you.” Thanking the young woman and paying the registration fee Chris smiled and slipped the new paper in his backpack. Now he didn’t have to worry about leaving his Pokemon on the farm if he decided to head somewhere else. With a pleasant goodbye Chris headed out of the Pokemon center. Before heading back out to his land Chris decided on a different route. Turning towards the north Chris headed for the Poketech R&D Laboratories. He hadn’t been there before despite being born in the city, but he figured it was about time he got a Poketech upgrade. Inside he let out a low whistle at seeing all of the stuff on display. He had grown up knowing about the Poketech, but this was more than he realized. It was like the front lobby was a department store advertising their research. Another young lady seemed to be manning the counter here, and Chris approached reluctantly. “Hello. Can I help you?” Chris numbly held up his Poketech and took a deep breath. “Actually I was hoping you can make this stronger.” The young woman smiled and gestured for the watch. Chris slipped it off and handed it to her. “Alright, how would you like it? We can make it fireproof, waterproof, and even resistant to sandstorms.” Thinking about it Chris motioned to the Poketech. “Can you do all three?” The young woman smiled. “Of course.” Taking the watch she motioned to a list that was lying on the counter. “Here are our prices along with what we can do.” Looking over the list Chris found the option the woman recommended. He also looked at some of the other items and nodded. “How about a Full Resilience Upgrade and a Memopad?” Having the writing upgrade would make it a lot easier to keep notes. The young woman smiled with a nod and turned from the counter. “It’s going to be a while so make yourself comfortable. Also it’s going to be $200.” Chris paid the amount and the woman headed into the back room. Settling into one of the few couches that lined the room Chris prepared himself for a long wait. After two hours of waiting and a bathroom break the young woman appeared with his watch. “Alright it’s all done.” Taking the watch Chris gave her a smile and admired the handiwork. It looked pretty much the same except everything was a bit thicker. The glass and casing looked to be highly damage resistant, and the band also seemed pretty durable. Opening up the applications Chris scrolled through until he found the memo pad. It looked to be well made. After thanking the young woman Chris finally headed out of the high-tech facility. With his new watch and new license he was ready for the next stage of his plan. However even with those two items he was still missing a key component. Water Pokemon that could ferry him to the other islands. Without it he was going to have to spend the money he needed for the final step. With that in mind Chris headed for the beach. Even though there was always a crowd at the beach that kept wild Pokemon at bay; Chris knew of a section of beach people rarely traveled. It was an out of the way crop of land that was difficult to get to while carrying beach items. That’s why people rarely went there just to have a good time. It’s where trainers often went to catch sea faring Pokemon away from the public eye. Climbing over large rocks and moving through narrow paths Chris squeezed his way to the lone stretch of beach. It didn’t seem like there were any other people there, and Chris smiled at his luck. This was the best place to find a Pokemon that might be strong enough to carry him to the other islands, at least he hoped so. He sat on a flat rock that allowed him to look out to the sea and waited. If he failed here he would have to return to the Pokemon Center and spend the extra money for the boat ride tomorrow. |

Immediately sitting up Chris looked to where the calls were coming from. They sounded like a Pokemon in distress, but which Pokemon he wasn’t sure. He heard a lot of injured Pokemon helping his mother at the Pokemon Center, and this one seemed familiar. But it had been so long since he last heard it he couldn’t quite place it. As soon as he saw the speck in the distance Chris pulled out two Pokeballs that were hidden on the inside of his jacket. Enlarging them so the Pokemon were ready to be released he waited until the Pokemon came closer. He was tempted to release Wingull to go out and see what the trouble was, but he was worried that the flying/water Pokemon might be attacked. Chris couldn’t believe his luck when he saw it was actually a Lapras coming to shore. It was the perfect Pokemon for getting him where he needed to go, and he could tell it was strong based on her speed. But his joy quickly turned to one of horror when he noticed the many injuries the Pokemon had suffered. That horror quickly became anger when he realized the torture the ice/water Pokemon had to go through. “Hold on; I’ll get you to a Pokemon Center.” Chris was about to pull out an empty Pokeball when he noticed the shadows in the water. He didn’t think he had time to switch to an empty Pokeball and catch the Lapras before she was injured further. So he modified his plan a bit. With two swift movements Chris released the Pokeballs in his hands and called forth the Pokemon inside. “Wingull, Meditite. Come out and help.” The flying/water Pokemon appeared in the sky while letting out a loud call. Meditite appeared in his usual lotus position; meditating with his eyes closed. However the usual tendril of thought showed Chris that he was aware of his surroundings. Motioning to the shadows that were fast approaching Chris gave the orders. “Wingull I want you to fly overhead and try to deflect any attacks coming at Lapras with Water Gun. Meditite keep them away with Thunder Punch. Don’t actually fight them unless you have to.” As soon as his Pokemon took off to fulfill the orders given Chris rushed to the Lapras while pulling off his backpack. He couldn’t wait to get her to the Pokemon Center, especially considering how long it took him to get to this beach. He had to stabilize her for the moment and then take her to the Pokemon Center. He just hoped that if she healed she wouldn’t bolt before he could catch her and get the medical treatment she needed. That in mind Chris slid his hand into his backpack and groped around until he found what he was looking for. A slight twinge of guilt rolled in the back of his mind as he pulled out the Sitrus Berry and held it up towards Lapras. He kept his palm open to keep his fingers from being bitten, and edged it closer until Lapras took it of her own accord. He wasn’t going to force the healing berry on her unless she passed out. “It’s alright. You’re safe now. This will make you feel better.” He kept an eye on his Pokemon and the shadows; ready to call his other Pokemon out for support if needed. |

A smile escaped Chris’s lips when he realized Lapras was feeling much better. He pet her along her neck; making sure not to brush against any of her remaining wounds. He followed her eyes towards the Pokemon that caused her grief. He was still angry at them for attacking such a beautiful creature, but he wasn’t sure if retaliation was the best answer. A tendril of thought from Meditite showed that Chris wasn’t the only one who was angry with the sea Pokemon. The rest of his Pokemon were equally ticked off. In fact Pichu seemed to be the most ticked, as Meditite showed an image of Pichu about to burst from his Pokeball in a burst of electricity. Chris could only smile because he knew Pichu didn’t have that much power; not yet. Well it looked like his Pokemon wanted to battle; even after their ordeal with the tournament and that crazy happening. Who was he to tell them no, as he pulled out Pichu’s Pokeball. With a flick of his wrist he sent out the electric Pokemon. “Alright Pichu. Let’s teach them a lesson.” Pichu appeared in a burst of static electricity. With a few nimble jumps he climbed onto the back of Lapras so he could have a clear view (and shot) at the Carvanha. Despite his other Pokemon’s desire to fight Chris felt that three on three was enough. As long as Lapras didn’t fight that is. Pointing at the three Carvanha Chris gave his orders to his Pokemon. “Wingull, you keep an eye on the three shadows still in the water. Let out a cry if they look ready to attack. Pichu I want you to use Charge and hit them with Thundershock when you have a clear shot. And Meditite I want you to use Thunder Punch if they get closer to shore. Strike the water in front of them to try and hit all of them with a shockwave.” While his Pokemon dealt with the troublesome trio Chris did his best to try and coax the Lapras farther on land. He didn’t want to catch the beautiful creature just yet; as he was sure she wanted to watch what happened to her pursuers. But he also didn’t want her caught in the crossfire if Meditite was forced to electrify the water. He placed a gentle hand on the Lapras; stroking her gently and showing her he was a friend. |

Gritting his teeth Chris glared at the attacking fish. He really should just catch the Lapras and get her to a Pokemon Center. However he was really getting pissed off. These Carvanha were ignoring him and his Pokemon, and were instead going after the injured Lapras. If there was something most people hate; it’s being ignored. Looking down at his upgraded Poketech Chris looked at the new information. Wait. Dark type? His eyes light up as he realized he had another fighter that could really help out. And if past experience is to judge he was more than ready to fight. With the new Pokeball in hand Chris called forth the Pokemon inside. “Alright Spinarak. Let’s show them why they should run.” The bug/poison Pokemon appeared with a huge stretch of his limbs; shaking off the remains of his battle in the tournament. He looked out on the water with expectant eyes. With these four Pokemon Chris was sure that they could take care of the Carvanha. “Let’s go. Wingull confuse them from the sky with Supersonic. Spinarak climb onto Lapras and use Leech Life on any that get too close. Meditite use Thunder Punch on any that get by Spinarak. And Pichu try to strike them before they get close with Thundershock.” Chris’s Pokemon scrambled to get into position; ready to defend their new found friend from danger. Chris looked at them with a smile; feeling their determination through his link with Meditite. He continued to massage Lapras’s neck, doing his best to sooth the injured Pokemon. |
