The ocean, a place of life and fun, but for one trainer named Absesas it was anything BUT fun. He hated water with every fiber of his being, not so much drinking it, but crossing it in anyway unnerved him something terrible. He was a man of the earth, one whose very body had been made ragged in order to cope. He liked nothing more then to be able to dig his feet into the soil of the earth. It was because of this that for the first several minutes Absesas was rather worried with slight fear for his life. As the Captain spoke he turned his attention to scanning the waters. He mentally berated himself for worrying and decided he needed to focus on a greater goal then just being on a boat. “We are searching for a Wailmer for me to capture.” He said not taking his eyes off of the water. He pulled out two poke balls, the first held Delic, one of his newest and as of yet strongest Pokémon in his repertoire. The second held his newest acquisition, a Zephteryx he had decided to nickname Terry. “Delic, Terry come on out.” He said and tossed the poke balls into the air. Both Pokémon shot out of their poke balls as a vibrant red light which quickly took the form of his Pokémon. Terry hovered about 15 feet above the surface of the water while Delic floated only a few inches off the water. “Delic I want you to go under the water and keep an eye out for a Wailmer. Terry I want you to fly up to about 25 feet and keep your eyes open. Delic I want you to be ready if we spot it. I want you to come back to the boat, and get ready to attack. This is what a Wailmer looks like,” he said and pulled his Pokedex out calling up a Wailmer’s information. He showed both Pokémon the picture and went back to watching the water. “Delic I want you to stay within a 30 foot radius of the boat, you to terry.” He said before looking at the Captain. “We are ready to start now,” he said with a slight smile. He was determined to catch the darned Pokémon no matter what. Edited by Absesas, Oct 5 2010, 05:58 PM.

Derping... All Day, Every Day!

The Captain tried asking you a question, and got silence for a little. After a pause, you finally seemed ready. Instead of looking for people, you strictly wanted to look for the Wailmer. As that decision can swing the Captain's judgment of you in either direction, one thing was for sure: he could tell you weren't use to being on water. A slight giggle happened from the captain, under his breath. He finally nodded, and got the boat moving. He started off slow--for your sake--and gradually picked speed up. It would be hard going much faster then he was, which didn't seem to bad. The debris was hard to miss, and if any were bad pieces, you sure would feel it knock against the boat's belly. Upon seeing you release your pokemon, the captain grimaced. He was hoping you'd only have flying types. Although, the only part he rejoiced about were that both could fly, or at least hover. His voice erupted from behind you, trying to get over the loud hums of the engine. "Boy, you cannot use certain pokemon. Those two are fine, but if you got any big ones or heavy ones, do NOT release them!" That comment right there, ruled out a few options. You thought about it. This conclusion came to your mind: Terry and Delic were fine, along with Pikachu. Rocky the Rhyhorn and Spiraptor were not fit for this situation. Luckily, in the mix were two of your strongest. Sending a dragon and electric type underwater could be good. But could the Cestar handle himself if he ran into trouble? An electric move would not only get to the pokemon, but the boat. Not to mention if people were hanging on debris from the crash, and they get electrocuted. That decision could turn on you, but it was too late. Cestar had dove into the water and started his search after seeing the pokemon on the screen. Terry, on the other hand, was fine searching the skies for you. Although he was the weakest, he could be useful for recon and alike. After a while, Terry made a noise. Grabbing your attention, he seems to have found something. Instinctively, you want to go towards it, right? The Captain steers hard to the side, and then gets in a direct path. From the distance you were, it looked almost like a blue figure. Blue, being a big part of Wailmer's colors. Cestar had popped up from time to time to grab at air, and knowledge of what is going on. He started to also go towards the plank of wood holding the possible Wailmer. However, your hopes crashed, hard. Getting close, you noticed the blue was like Wailmer, but wasn't. The wind blew at that moment, shaking the boat and the cloth. The cloth was too weak, and blew away. From under it was a Shelldar! It turns, with a shiver. It was cold, and angry looking. It hadn't eaten in days by the looks of it. On sight, it tried to use a Strike attack against YOU!

Absesas sighed slightly as he scanned the horizon for the Wailmer he had been interested in catching. So far there had been no sighting of anything even remotely resembling a Wailmer, just heat and water. He shook his head slightly as boredom started to make itself known. The boat hit yet another piece of wood and Absesas was forced to grab hold of the railing or fall over-board. He most definitely wasn’t used to being on water and he could feel his stomach starting to voice its opinion in the form of sea-sickness. He closed his eyes for a brief moment to try and regain control over his rebelling stomach when he heard Terry making noise a little ways off. The boat lurched to the side and again Absesas was forced to grab the railing. He looked over towards Terry and saw something blue on a plank of wood. He grinned and called Delic to get on board as they started to make their way through the debris. Absesas felt his hopes soar at what he perceived to be a Wailmer and looked at Delic. “Ok Delic I want you to use a Thunder shock on that Pokémon followed by a Dragon Rage.” He said as they got closer. Delic nodded and moved to the front of the boat getting ready to unleash electric pain on what he thought was Wailmer. Unfortunately for Absesas the Pokémon he THOUGHT was Wailmer turned out to be a Shellder instead, and it did NOT seem interested in a friendly interaction. Quite the opposite, it seemed interested in turning Absesas into food. Absesas watched as it launched itself into the air towards him to attack. Absesas took a few steps back and shouted, “Now Delic, hit it now!” He pulled out a Pokeball and prepared to throw it if the Shellder was hit by both attacks. There was NO way he intended on letting a pokemon attack him and not get captured. Edited by Absesas, Oct 13 2010, 04:41 PM.

Let us enter into a world so disgusting. Where the common human enjoys and savours every minute of battle they get. Humans are so barbaric...and yet such cowards. They talk tough and act big, yet get their slaves to do all their dirty work. Yet they seem so willing to obey such cruel masters. I'll never understand this world. The world created so long ago. Is this why humans were created? To enslave and use other living beings? Well...this is the world we live in. Let this story run it's course. Delic was ready for action. Observing the dark shadow in the water as the Shellder began to attack, he fired a Thundershock, aiming directly for the middle of the shadow. The attack connected perfectly and the resulting shockwave of thunder hitting water, sent a huge burst of electricity across the ocean, covering a far radius. It was almost certain that other, innocent pokemon were caught in the blast, not that it mattered. Pokemon were only needed for strength...am I right? As the shockwave spread, Shellder was thrown into the air. Delic would grab her and throw her higher, firing a Dragon Rage upwards, connecting perfectly. Shellder fell, and hit the deck of the boat, unconscious. That was certainly a quick battle, and as you threw your pokeball, the Shellder fell into submission, forcing it's capture to be a success. With the battle over there was little else to do, except continue your search for a Wailmer. As you looked on the Captain would be looking to the sky; "It would seem a storm is coming" He wasn't wrong. A vicious storm began to rage across the sky, lightning and thunder working together to strike hard, and cause tidal waves to launch forward and rock the boat, threatening to knock it sideways. You needed to get to shelter. Overwise it was very probable you would be thrown overboard. Have fun. Congratulations, Shellder was captured. :cestar gained 11.1 ![]() Congratulations; :cestar grew to level 10, with 8.1 left over gained 4.5

Absesas cursed his luck, rather vehemently, at the turn of the weather. He had hoped that he would be able to catch a darned Wailmer but it would seem that nature had other plans for him. He turned to the captain with a nod, “It would seem your right. Maybe we should head to someplace safer, back to Millenia if we need to.” He said, his voice showing more than a little annoyance at this. He pulled out both Delic’s and Terry’s Poke balls and called them back. “Ok Guys I guess it’s time for a bit of a rest now.” He said as the two went into their respective balls. He turned to the captain and moved to a more secure area to make sure he didn’t fall overboard. “So how often do these storms hit?” he asked in a conversational tone. “Also is there anything I can do to help?” he asked, eyeing the storm with growing apprehension. He REALLY didn’t like being out on water in the best of conditions, and this made everything that much worse and he silently prayed they made it to solid land quickly. After a few minutes his thoughts went back to the Wailmer he was wanting and, with a sigh, he decided maybe that would be a Pokémon better caught on a good day. The trip hadn’t been too bad though since he caught himself a Shellder, although that wasn’t particularly what he wanted at least the adventure hadn’t been completely fruitless. He might even find someone that wanted one that would trade with him, although he doubted this highly. |

I don't know, a Shellder is a pretty useful Pokemon. The fact that there is no chance of a critical on it, all of the moves like Fury Swipes (and Icicle Spear in your case) always hit 5 times, and the fact that it can learn multiple ice moves before it evolves is pretty awesome. You didn't want it either, so you could probably get a little something out of putting it up on the trading block. As far as the Captain goes, he answered your questions after a little bit of navigating. He was obviously focused on getting back to solid land; as much as he's been on the water, it's never any fun to be stuck out on a dingy boat without any way to call for help. When he assured himself that both of you were going to be safe soon, he yelled from behind his shoulder. "Well, this season might be a tough time for trainers that wanna run on out to the water, but it gets better in the Spring, and it's perfect in the Summer. Smooth sailin' then. Don't worry 'bout helpin' neither; I got it all covered." After the sudden change in dialect, he began to silently row on. After a few minutes of thrashing against the waves and debris, and only a mere hundreds of feet from the shore, the Captain points over to a large pile of debris over to your right side. "There's gotta be somethin' there. Sorry boy, but we can't just leave people in the middle o' this storm." He makes a sharp turn, and sails you directly toward the debris. It almost looks like you're going to hit it, but the boat stops just in time. The boat floated rather violently along the side of the debris. As you two searched, it seemed that there was actually nothing there, so the Captain moved to turn the boat back to shore. However, before he made the motion, a piece of debris fell from the pile, and the whole thing collapsed at once. The debris scattered, and the only thing left in the center was a blue, bulbous thing. You couldn't tell what it was, but it was pretty massive. Now then, you could go touch the thing I guess, and find out what it is, or you could just leave it alone. It didn't really look like there was much use for it anyway. Just dead weight on the boat. But it's your choice, so I'll leave you to it. Edited by MilesMilitis, Nov 3 2010, 01:37 PM.

Absesas sighed slightly as he thought of the fact that it looked like he wouldn’t be given the chance to catch a Wailmer, at least not at the moment. He paced back and fourth across the deck while trying to maintain his balance, even going so far as to re-release Delic to help keep him steady while also being around in case he fell over-board. He was starting to get a little frustrated, actually. What did the weather think it was doing changing on him right in the middle of searching for a pokemon. He felt as if he where being cheated out of something he wanted and that it was done in spite by some cosmic entity that seemed interested in turning a blind eye to him and making things difficult. He sighed again and sent the thoughts out of his head, noticing how childish he was being and that it was just dumb bad luck and nothing more. He couldn’t help shake the feeling of being cheated, though, and figured that was probably normal under these circumstances. All of a sudden the captain points to a pile of debris and makes his way towards it. At first it appeared nothing was their but Absesas had a sneaky suspicion that it held more then it told. As the captain moved to get the boat back towards the shore Absesas watched as a piece fell into the ocean to show something that, at least to him, looked remarkably like a Wailmer. He made his way to the captain and asked for a few minutes to check some more and turned his attention to Delic, his Cestar. “Ok buddy, here is what I am wanting you to do. Jump off the other side of the boat and go under the water. I want you to check and see if that is, in fact, a Wailmer. If it is I want you to come back up and hit it with two Dragon Rage attacks on it then wait. If your two attacks work as well as I hope I will throw a pokeball at it, but if it misses I want you to hit it with another Dragon Rage attack.” He said and pulled out his great ball and got ready to throw as Cestar started to move to the other side to inspect the thing he was told to. ((Having Cestar use Two Dragon Rage attacks then, if its HP is low enough, I want to throw the great ball. If it isn’t low enough, OR if it breaks free going for a third dragon rage and then a regular pokeball.)) |

So, you spotted a blue thing, and just in time. Seems to me that the weather is changing, no? Before spotting the blue thing, you seemed ticked off. With good reason, of course. But Delic the Cestar dove into the water before any weather changes could happen. His swam quickly to the blue figure. Just about to do an attack, or something, the blue figure twitched. It then jumped and flailed. You heard a little yelp behind you, meaning the pokemon had made the Captain jump. But when it came down to eye level, it fell on some piled debris. Delic, behind it, started to charge up. Before it could fire off anything, the Wailmer smirked, and then squirted water, point blank, at your face. The Dragon Fireball came up behind it, shot by Delic. The Wailmer glanced to the side, and then violently nudged the boat. The Captain let out another yelp, having a hard time controlling the boat's violent shake. Delic was a little surprised, no doubt. But no worries, as he had another Dragon Rage coming. Wailmer was hit, and it nearly fell into the water. Glad it didn't, because it is nearly knocked out already. You readied the Great Ball, which is something not a lot of people have been using. The blue and red ball bumped the Wailmer's head, and opened, absorbing it with a crimson light. Before long, it ticked, meaning Wailmer was yours. Delic had hovered over, picked it up, and tossed it to you. There you had it! A Wailmer. "Time to get back, before the storm." The Captain tried turning the ship. It'd be a few minutes before the storm came... Is there anything else you'd like to do, or should you return home and do something else? If there is something on the waters for you, it'd be best to speak now! :cestar earned 10 and went to Level 11 with 8.1 left over! earned 5 and ended up with 5/10! |

Absesas grinned in excitement as he caught the Greatball Delic had sent his way. He had hoped to find a Wailmer and this one seemed full of spunk. He looked up at Delic and gave him thumbs up, “That was wonderful Delic, you did a great job and I appreciate it.” He said before recalling Delic. He looked at the captain as he was mentioning going back and nodded. “I don’t have anything pressing out here to do so barring something unexpected I would say going back is a good idea.” He turned his attention briefly to the ball with Wailmer in it before putting it with the balls that held the other Pokémon on his team. He would take the time to introduce it to the rest of his team when he made it to land but for now he had other plans in mind, the kind that might just help him in the future. He grabbed Zephteryx’s ball, “Come on out Zephteryx, I have something I want to give you.” He said and when his flying Pokémon popped out he reached into his pack for his TM 69, “I think this will give us a slight edge in combat, this is TM 69, also known as Rock Polish.” He told his Pokémon and handed the TM to it. “Let's hope we get back to port soon though,” he said and started making plans to find a trainer to battle and see exactly how good his team was. |

.: Millenia Town .: Docks .: Evening It seemed as though you'd been at sea for ages now. Thankfully, the trip back to the docks was uneventful after catching that Wailmer. This gave you time to reflect on your journey, and what "fate" had in store for you. Immediately, it appeared to be a storm. The Captain was battening down the hatches, and prepping the ship for sever weather as you disembarked. "It's been interesting travelin' with you m'boy. I hope you have good fortune on the land lad." You were free to do whatever you wished now. But, right now, a trip to the Pokemon Center may be in order. Your Pokemon had seen some action, and Wailmer had taken a beating before capture. Plus, with the deep rumble of thunder, and the rain starting, taking shelter might be a good idea. Besides, if you were wanting to fight another trainer, you'll definitely find them at the Pokemon Center. Healing your Pokemon had only taken a few moments in the red-roofed building. Then a large crash of thunder shook the windows, and the lights went out. Soon emergency lighting came on, casting the Pokemon Center in dim light. Well, it was a good thing your Pokemon had been healed. Sucked to be the guy behind you. But, speaking of that guy... "Aw come on! What are we supposed to do now!?" Absesas walked up to the captain as they stopped at the city port, “I greatly appreciate you giving me this opportunity and I shall repay you by telling others that you and your ship are well worth using,” he said and went to shake his hand. He smiled happily and nodded at the well-wishes from the older man before heading off the boat and onto the relative safety of good old solid land. He looked around for a few moments before deciding that this would be the perfect opportunity to head for the Pokémon center and started moving in that direction. He stopped for a brief moment to release Delic, his Cestar, and crouched down in front of it, “I know I haven’t said this yet but I really appreciate how well you did, not only in the tournament but in helping me catch this Wailmer,” he said and held out the Great ball, “This wouldn’t have been as successful without you and I’m very happy to have you with us” he said before hugging the smaller Pokémon and moving on. As he made his way to the Pokémon Center he looked momentarily at the sky, “This storm looks like it might get pretty intense,” he said and looked down at Delic, “No worry for us, of course, but I think there might be some complications nonetheless,” he said and received a slight nod from his Pokémon. Eventually he caught sight of the Pokémon Center and picked up the pace a little until he entered the center. He looked around at the people in the main room before making his way to the counter. He waited until his turn was up and moved to the counter, “Pardon me Nurse Joy, but could you please heal my Pokémon and give them a brief check to make sure everything is ok?” he said, recalling Delic and then handed over his Pokeballs to her. He moved to take a seat and wait for his Pokémon to be healed and for the storm to end, “Man I hope this ends soon, this weather can be such a drag,” he said quietly to himself before crossing his arms and leaning back into his seat to wait. After a while he got the notice his Pokémon where ready and went up to get them. No sooner did he have his Pokémon in his hands then the sounds of thunder hit and he suppressed the sudden urge to jump in surprise. He looked up just as the lights went out and sighed, “I figured something bad would happen,” he said as he looked at Delic’s Pokeball. He was about to turn and leave when the man behind him spoke and asked if he wanted a battle. “Man I’m ALWAYS up for a battle,” he said with a large grin and moved to follow the trainer. As the two stepped outside he cast an eye at the sky, “Before we start I want to say to watch out, it probably won’t happen but if one of those lightning bolts hits our Pokémon I’m not sure what will happen,” he said with a little concern. “Well let’s get this show on the road,” he said and grabbed a Pokeball and tossed it lightly into the air, “Ok Come on out Terry,” he called as a bright red flash of light released his Zephteryx. He nodded to the other trainer, “Best of luck to you, and might I say that’s a wonderful looking Pokémon you have there,” he said as he looked up the information for the Shroomish. He looked up at Terry with determination, “Ok Terry, I know this is our first battle and it looks like this battle will be tough but all I ask is that you do your best. Start out with Rock Polish then fly about 15 feet off the ground and dodge around it. When you get the opportunity I want you to try your Crunch Attack. Try and keep ahead of any attacks he might send your way by either veering in direction, flying higher, or dropping to the ground. If we can get the advantage of position then we can win this,” he said and got a nod in response. “I know it might be hard but I have faith in you,” he said with a smile and waited to see what would happen. ((Battle Tactics: Terry uses Rock Polish to increase its speed and then dodges until he can get into range for an Crunch attack.)) Edited by Absesas, Sep 15 2012, 03:53 AM.

. : Millenia Town . : Docks . : Evening . : Heavy Rain You had gotten your Pokemon healed just before the Pokemon Center lost power. That's when a blue-haired guy, maybe a little older then yourself, challenged you to a battle. Well, it's a great chance to get some battle experience! You guys headed outside, pushing the glass doors open as lightning flashed overhead and thunder shook the windows of buildings around you. It only took a few seconds to soak you. Thankfully, it was warm outside, so at least you aren't freezing. As you released Tery, the blue haired guy nodded in approval. "That's a cool Pokemon man. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Looks a little scrawny though. Oh well. Dotty, use Stun Spore, then Tackle that bird!" Tery was a little faster then Dotty. A sheen of light coursed from his beak to his tail feathers, as he launched into the rainy skies. Dotty tracked the birds flight, and scrunched up in a little ball. The the Shroomish released a spray of yellow spores into the air, which caught your prehistoric bird directly in the face. Tery lost a bit of his speed, dropping out of the air atop the mushroom Pokemon. Savagely, he chomped on his foe. The attack would have done more damage, but your Zephteryx was a bit out gunned by the stronger Shroomish. That said, the Shroomish charged against Tery, pushing him back. If you had some way to boost your attack or defenses, you might be able to pull this off! Absesas watched as the fight started with a mix of partial expectations and a lingering worry that his Pokémon was in for a very tough fight. His feelings where proven true as he watched the small mushroom Pokémon launch its attack with a proficiency that only comes from experience and Absesas knew deep down that if he and Terry where to have any hope of winning then he was going to have to come up with an excellent strategy. He motioned for Terry to move closer to him and waited as his Pokémon flew over. “Ok Terry, this battle looks like it is going to be tough but I know that we can win this,” he said and patted Terry on the side. “Ok Terry, I have a plan but it is going to require your full attention to fully get it to work. Now I know that you are under an annoying status effect but for now we’re just going to have to roll with it. What you want to do isn’t try and cause lots of damage in a single hit, no, for a battle like this you need to instill some fear into your enemy. That Shroomish over there might have the power advantage on you but if you can make it afraid of you and manage to pull of this next move perfectly then you could still win this.” Absesas said with a smile. “Ok I want you to fly a bit into the air, I’d say about 17 feet or so then try and wait to see if we can draw Shroomish into making the first move and if he does I want you to dodge it. Either way whether he does or not I want you to charge straight at it as fast as you can. If it looks like it is going to attack, or if you get within 12 feet, I want you to fold your wings against your side and drop straight down for a quick boost in speed and power, then I want you to hit him with a strike attack having your foot come up underneath it to try and knock it into the air. Once it’s in the air I want you to fly up and grab its legs with your claws and then throw it straight up. Then if you think you can try and get above it then come straight down on top of it with a Belly Flop and try and slam it into the ground from as high as you can get it. If you can’t get above it then just wait and try and grab it with a crunch attack while it is falling past you. See if you can grab the bottom half of its body and hold on to it as best you can.” Terry nodded though Absesas hoped it actually got his orders and understood them then took a step back as Terry started flying higher into the air. Absesas looked at his opponent with respect, “I apologize for the delay, this is my first time battling with Terry and I wanted to make sure he fully understood my orders before sending him back in,” he said and turned his attention back to Terry, “Ok Terry let’s get this show on the road,” he said and readied himself to see if Terry was going to be able to pull this off. ((Battle plans: Fly 17-18 feet up then wait a few moments, if Shroomish doesn’t attack, or attack misses, he goes into a fast dive with his wings tucked in. Before he hits the ground he open his wings and closes the distance and use a Strike Attack with its legs and try and toss it into the air. Then grabbing its leg with his leg and tossing them even higher only to get above it and do an air based belly flop to slam it into the ground. Grabbing it with Crunch if he cant get above it and then holding on)) Edited by Absesas, Sep 16 2012, 08:08 PM.

Alternia's Old Man
|
. : Millenia Town . : Docks . : Evening . : Heavy Rain The pouring rain, coupled with the nearby sea, made for a very noisy environment. You had to shout to be heard over the ambient noise. Even then, rumbling thunder occasionally made you pause and restart. Due to the noise Terry practically sat on your feet, trying to follow what you were saying. Judging by the cocked angle of his head, he might not have understood your plan. This idea was confirmed by your opponent. "Hey man, he doesn't get it!" He had to shout to be heard. Slowly, he started to come closer to you. "I think you confused him. Pokemon are smart, but in battle you should try to keep it simple. Work on attack patterns, and new moves outside the fight, you know? I'd be happy to help you train after the fight... and the rain. I didn't think about this when I challenged you. I hate the rain!" He gave you a grin, then had to spit rainwater out of his mouth as he pulled soaking blue hair out of his face. "Here, watch. Dotty, use Tackle when the bird gets close. Follow up with Absorb." The Shroomish bounced on her feet, then ran back out to the road to fight. Terry took to the air, flying up high before diving down. He threw his wings out, and Striked with sharp claws. Too bad Terry missed his target because Dotty was ready for the attack. Rather then being kicked up, the Shroomish Tackled Terry in his soft underbelly. It was a powerful hit! Dotty followed up the attack with Absorb. A wavering green beam of energy connected Dotty to Terry. Quickly, your bird started looking sick, then he passed out! Absorb was super effective! Dotty had knocked out Terry! You had more Pokemon at your disposal, maybe you could keep the fight going? Or, you could quit now and take some time for training.
