I LOVE Avatar...The Last Airbender, yo.
HELLOOO! And welcome to Zaroff Island! After you both received your new partners, you're ready to begin your journeys together. Embarking on your very own Pokemon Journey is very exciting, but it's also a big responsibility. You have to remember to take care of your friends and your Pokemon. And in this case, you might not know a whole lot about Pokemon. That's alright, you'll catch on eventually. Traveling with a friend can be a very great experience. You will both learn a lot from each other. Along the way you might not always agree on something, but in the end you'll find that getting your way isn't always the most important thing.

So anyways, let's talk location. Zaroff Island is the one of the largest unexplored areas throughout Alternia. Unless you're very careful, Zaroff Island can be a very dangerous place. The chances of running into a wild Pokemon can be very high, so it's a great place to add additional members to your "squad". To the west is Adler's Puddle, probably a great place to catch some Water-Type Pokemon. And to the North is the Twin Peaks Mountains, a good place to test your Pokemon's skill. So, you have a choice. You can do anything you want, except kill someone. You can't kill someone...Just not right...

You both walked the streets of Zaroff Island, following paths leading in the direction opposite of the research center. Step after step you took, feeling more confident every second. Then suddenly, something came from behind you (Saya) and knocked you over. After landing harshly on the ground, you looked up to find a small Corphish standing before you. Walking towards the Corphish were two young girls. One girl had a small Pidgey perched on her shoulder. The other girl looked at you and began to laugh. "Ha, what a loser. Nice shot, Corphish," she said. Ouch, how rude. "I'm Beth, this is my friend Suki. How 'bout a battle?" Well, if I were you, I'd battle these girls and show 'em who's boss. But, it's your choice. So....Go on now!

Derping... All Day, Every Day!

Saya had ordered her Magikarp first, having it use Strikes. Psyduck was nearly finished, and probably done with this battle. The fish pokemon flopped it's way over to a fellow water creature. Taking a big flop upwards, the Magikarp fell to the side and used her two Strikes. Psyduck had fainted, after receiving the physical hits from Sydney.

The trainer recalled his duck pokemon, his last pokemon. As the bet had gone, he fished his wallet from his pocket and without a word, walked up to both of you handing you each two hundred dollars. A victory between pokemon and economic issues. Your wallets probably feel a bit heavier now. Oh well, he walked away without saying a word, still. You were still on the boat, and if I am correct, it still is a little rocky. Swaying back and forth. Waves; no doubt I'd get sea sick. What do you both want to do now? Tutoring Electrike Spark might be the way to go now, without having to fight in between.

Katsu watched with a nod and a grin as the Magikarp finished off the Psyduck. Now, normally he would be content for awhile, having defeated an opponent...but there was something more that he wanted. He wanted another fight. However, he leaned down, patting the Snorunt on its head...region, and gave her a thumbs up. The Snorunt turned away again, brushing him off like he was far from important. He was her trainer, but that didn't seem to say much, as she treated as if he were any other human. He supposed that's what he got for winning her in a contest, rather than training and catching her naturally. Wooper and Spearow were alright. Well, he thought they were; he hadn't really used them in a battle yet.

"Hey Saya," he said as he returned the Snorunt, glancing away from the Sailor behind them and at the other ones, the ones still playing card games. "What about another battle, eh? Just a little something to pass the time while we keep waiting out this storm?" he asked, wondering if maybe there was even a wussy cabin boy to pick on. Katsu wasn't sure why but...he'd caught the battling bug.

Maybe one day, he'd go for Gym Leader of somewhere, so that people would have to fight him, and enjoy fighting him. He pondered the thought as he waited for Saya's reply, scratching his chin. Gym Leader Katsu...he liked the sound of that.

Saya glanced back to Katsu as she retrieved Geruda into her Poke Ball, for now. She didn't know what she was going to do with the little Pokemon- she didn't really have a spot for her set out. Ah well, she'd take care of that later.
Brushing some hair out of her face, she nodded toward Sydney, grinning wide.
"Good job, Sydney! I'm proud of you!" she said cheerfully to the little fish Pokemon. She nodded somewhat, muttering a "Karp" before Saya recalled her to her Poke Ball.

"Yeah, I can relate." Saya said with a quick nod. She wanted another battle- she wanted Shred to get stronger as well. And, while she was at it, perhaps she could finish up Shellshock's move tutoring.
Reaching down, she pulled both Poke Balls from her waist and tossed them both down, letting them release both her Torchic and her Electrike, respectively.
"Shred, what do you say to a quick battle, huh?" she asked the Torchic, grinning as she glanced around. Surely there had to be someone on deck with weaker Pokemon than Shred that she could battle real fast.
"Anyone want to battle?!" she roared to the group on board. "Anyone at aaaall?!"
She tossed some hair out of her face before smirking a little, glancing down at Shellshock. "As for you, little man, we're gonna finish up that previous move tutor, okay? Let's try and have you learn Spark before we reach the shore!"

"Trike!" Shellshock barked, wagging his bottom in excitement. Saya nodded once, standing up straight. She pointed to a section of the wall that was clear of both people and objects, so Shellshock wouldn't harm anybody on accident. That wouldn't be good at all.
"Alright buddy, that's your target. Like before, focus all of your being on to generating the electric current in your fur. From running around so much, you've accumulated a lot, I'm sure. Feel that pulsing outside? The sound of rumbling thunder on the horizon, the flashes of lightning? That's what's rocking this boat so much. That sheer power behind these attacks. You can do this, Shellshock, I know you can! Now run forward, using the friction beneath your paws to gather up more static electricity and concentrate it around yourself! That's how you use Spark!"

She smiled down at the Electric-type before glancing to Shred again, and then around the cabin. Surely somebody would come forward with a pair of easy Pokemon for her and Katsu to beat...a cabin boy, maybe...

Looks like you guys were becoming a pretty good team. Gym Leader Katsu...I must say I agree, I like the sound of that, still you've got a long way to go to get there. Well for now I guess looking for someone to battle would be nice. But before that, I'll get on Shellshock's tutor.

The little Electrike felt good after that battle, and he felt way stronger than before. He did in fact feel the electricity outside, and he felt the static along his body. He focused really hard and felt the friction of the air rubbing against his body. He started to dash forward, feeling the electricity form on him after a few seconds of running he leapt forward and a great surge of electricity came form him! Well done, he did great. All he needs to work on is getting that electricity to form a bit sooner.

Spark - 60%

Now that that's out of the way, you two were looking for a battle, correct? Well a lot of the crew was busy, but a small cabin boy walked up to you two. He took out two Pokeballs and released the Pokemon within them. Both were Pokemon you'd never seen before. One was a cool looking bird and the other was some sort of squirrel. The boy spoke up in a very silent voice while looking at the floor. "I'll battle, but I won't battle both of you at once. One of my Pokemon will battle one of you, and the other will battle the other." Looks like this is the only chance you have. You'll have to battle separately, but that shouldn't be a problem, right?

Katsu glanced at the boy, and nodded. He didn't even really care about making money on this; he just wanted to fight. "Alright, I suppose we can do that. I'll take on your bird thing, there," he spoke, gesturing to the Verdijay. He knew that Flying was weak to Ice, and he needed to form a better bond with this here Snorunt. She was acting like a spoiled princess, even though he hadn't really done anything to her, and it was starting to irritate him.

Reaching into the pocket of his jacket, he gripped Snorunt's pokeball, dropping it onto the deck. "Snorunt, come out!" he called, ready for combat. The little creature appeared again, looking a little miffed at being called out again so soon. "You and I are going to be a team, darn it," he spoke, watching the creature with a stern look. "So let's get started, alright?" he asked, and the Snorunt gave a small sigh, but nodded. Good, he was getting somewhere.

"Okay, Focus on your Special attack, and then unleash a Powder Snow on the Verdijay," he spoke. He realized that this would be his first real battle, by himself. Normally he fought side-by-side with Saya. Could he manage a victory with just his own power?

Saya gave a small cheer as she saw the sparks fly up from Shellshock. He was actually starting to get the hang of this new attack- good, good! That meant she'd have an even better shot at winning the Tournament than she thought.
"Good job!" she cheered for the creature, who barked a few times with excitement. "You've almost got it; you've at least got the general hang of it. When you feel the electricity flowing through your fur, that's when you focus all of it around your body, okay? And you release it when your body comes in contact with your target, essentially transferring all of that energy onto them, right? You can do it, Shellshock, I believe in you."

A small cabin boy approached soon after she had finished her spiel, and she glanced over to him, raising an eyebrow at the Pokemon he had tossed out. She recognized them as two natives of Alternia. With a small nod, she glanced down to Shred.
"Alright, bud, let's take care of this battle real quick shall we?" she asked with a grin.

"Tor!" he replied. Saya was a little unsure of having a battle without Katsu's back up, but there wasn't much she could do about it.
"Okay, use Focus Energy to increase your Critical Hit chance!" she ordered, pointing at the squirrel. "Next, Focus on your Attack, and then use Scratch on that Arkisu and show him how it's done!"

She wanted this battle to be really quick, if possible. Her eyes flickered around to both Shred and then Shellshock, before returning to the fight. They should be able to finish this...

Looks like this is your first battle individually, both of you. Well, before I get into the battles, I'll take a look at how Shellshock is doing.

The little Electroke was running around a bit, and felt great. He dashed a bit, and after a second or two you could see a surge of electricity fly off of him. Looks like he's almost got it. Only one more real attempt will be necessary, but this time he'll need a target. Perhaps try smacking into the wall of the ship, or maybe one of those random crates that are lying around in the hulls of these types of boats. In fact, I think I see one a few feet next to you.

Spark - 90%

Now we can get to the battles. First I'll let you know how Katsu and Snorunt are doing. Snorunt didn't like being told what to do, but she didn't want to be made a fool of in front of this bird. So she did as she was asked and Focused on her Special Attack. The cabin boy was watching both battles intently. "Verdi, use a Tail Whip then Gust." The Verdijay wagged her little tail, infuriating Snorunt and lowering her defences. She let off her Powder Snow just as Verdi gave a Gust. Both attacks passed by each other and hit their respective targets. Snorunt was tossed back but she managed to get up again. Verdi was shaking a bit from the Powder Snow, but she was still fighting. Thankfully you hold the advantage, so just keep up the Powder Snow and you should be golden.

Team Katsu

Cabin Boy

Time to check on Saya and Shred. Shred hopped out of his Pokeball, eager to gain that last bit of experience to learn Ember. He Focused his Energy and raised his critical hit ratio, and then Focused on his attack, increasing his strength. Looks like he'd be dealing out some major damage. "Arki, use a Charm and then a Quick Attack." Well there goes your increased attack strength. Oh well, you've still got your Focus Energy. Arki dashed at Shred, smacking him hard with his Quick Attack. Shred got back up and jumped at the squirrel and Scratched him right across the face. Looks like that Focus Energy paid off, the attack was a critical hit. Thankfully your focus negated some the Charm, but you'll have to keep it up if you want to keep from losing too much attack strength.

Katsu nodded at the Snorunt as he watched her, knowing that she was trying her best, despite the fact that she didn't much care for him. He still wasn't sure what he'd done to her to irritate her, but hopefully, eventually, she'd come around. The fight was going about as he'd hoped it would, with the little Snorunt's Powder Snow doing a fair amount of damage to the Verdijay. He glanced at the little pokemon, which was starting to show some level of interest in the battle. "All right, Snorunt! That was a good run just now," he said, nodding down at her, and patting th elittle creature on the shoulder.

He glanced at the Verdijay, which was looking a little cold. "All right, Focus on your Special Attack again, and then release a dual Powder Snow!" he called out, pointing at the bird pokemon. Hopefully, the increased special attack, coupled with the double dose of powdery snow, would at least cause the fight to be supremely his, if not faint the pokemon entirely. His eyes flickered over to Saya and Shred, wondering how they were doing. He had come a long way as a trainer, and would find it quite amazing if he managed to beat his opponent before Saya beat hers. He smirked, turning his eyes back to the battle. That was his goal, now.

Saya grinned at Shellshock. " 'atta boy! You've almost got it, now let's focus all that electricity in on a target, shall we?"
"Trike!" Shellshock yapped, nodding once in excitement. He seemed quite impressed with himself that he had almost finished learning this attack. Saya glanced around, soon noticing a small crate near her feet. She pointed at the box, smirking. "Now let's hit that box right there, okay? Focus another Spark attack on that box right there! You can do it!"

She turned her attention back to the battle. The Arkisu had voided the increased Attack, much to her irritation. "Alright, Focus on your Attack again and use another Scratch, aiming at its face!"
She didn't really want to cause any lasting damage to the creature, but should this work as she wanted it to, perhaps it would be able to blind the squirrel Pokemon with the attack. "Come on, Shred! You can do it too!"
Shred chirped once before moving forward, looking ready to do his absolute best. Saya just hoped this got done soon. The Tournament was nearing...

Her PokeTech gave off a familiar beep, and she sighed a bit when she checked it. She hadn't won the lottery yet again. But she was something of a gambling addict, and so she typed in the same numbers one more time, hoping she'd get a little luckier this time around.

A move tutor, AND two battles? You guys are pretty intense, I gotta admit. Before I get into the battles with the cabin boy I'll let you know how Shellshock is doing.

The Electrike was pretty excited. He hadn't ever tutored himself an attack before, and so this was a new experience for him. He was ready to get it down. He looked at the box you had pointed out to him, and began the process of Spark. He let the electricity run over his body, he dashed, and he lunged! And...SPARK! The box was hit full force by the electrical doggy, and if it wasn't full of the sailors' booze it would've been broken right open. Looks like Shellshock mastered Spark!

Spark - 100% MASTERED

Now that that's been taken care of, time to move on to the battles starting with Katsu. Snorunt didn't like this Verdijay. No real reason why, she just didn't like her. End of story. In fact, she disliked her so much, that she went full force with her powder Snows after her Focus. The first one hit hard, causing the bird's wings to frost over and making her fall to the ground. The second one was all she needed to knock the little bird out. She was pleased with herself. She now knew with confidence that if she didn't like someone she could just beat the crap out of him. Whether that's a good thing or not is for you to decide.

Battle Results

Now that Katsu's done with his battle, the cabin boy was able to focus solely on his battle with Saya. Shred was feeling confident. He knew he could do this. He Focused hard and raised his attack once more. "Arki, use two Quick Attacks." The Arkisu dashed at Shred, smacking him hard. Your little Torchic buddy got back up, and with determination in his eyes gave Arki a Scratch right across the face! The hit was once more a nice critical hit, dealing major damage! The hit sent the Arkisu reeling, but he recovered fast enough to give his second Quick Attack. Shred was ready, however, and he dodged the attack. Arki turned around to face Shred once more, getting ready for his next orders.

Saya growled, starting to get aggravated that her battle with the Arkisu was taking so long. She pointed at the little creature, her other hand tightening into a fist.
"Shred! Use two Scratches on Arkisu, okay? Don't let up any of your attack until that squirrel's down and out!" she demanded, knowing that her Torchic definitely had it in him to finish this Normal-type off. The problem was he didn't have any sort of type advantage...at least not yet. But when he evolved, oh it would be great- he'd be Fire AND Fighting-types, and he'd be able to really knock these Normal-types out fast.

However, when she realized that Shellshock had completely learned his new attack, her face lit up in a grin.
"Good job, Shellshock!" she cheered, moving forward and hugging the little Electric-type, picking him up as she faced back toward the battle. She felt an initial shock upon touching him- left over static electricity from his move tutoring- but otherwise he was as affectionate towards her as ever, nuzzling against her neck and giving small barks of affection.
Her eyes flickered over toward Katsu and Snorunt as they finished their battle, and she frowned, glancing back at Shred and the Arkisu. She gave Katsu a quick 'congratulations' in response to his victory, before refocusing on her own Pokemon.
"Come on Shred...you can do it..." she whispered encouragingly. She wanted this to be done with, and soon...

Katsu grinned as the Snorunt took out the little bird pokemon, leaving him the victor, here. "All right, nice job, Snorunt," he said with a grin, nodding down at her. She still looked a little standoffish, but she was starting to come around. She didn't outright turn away from him at every opportunity, but she still didn't really enjoy being touched by him, it seemed.
Nodding, he raised his pokeball, returning the creature to its pokeball. "Nice fight, mate," he spoke, even though it had really just been a shellacking. However, before he could speak to Saya, an alert came over his Poketech, and he glanced down at it to see that he had won part of the lottery. He noted that he'd won a Chilkit, and that it was waiting in his PC for him to take whenever he wanted it. That made two things that he'd won, so far, and he couldn't just stop his winning streak, could he? With a grin, he purchased five more tickets, as he couldn't help but gamble, now. He was kind of addicted.

This battle was nearly over. With Katsu done his portion of the fight, you just have to deal with this annoying little squirrel thing. Shred wanted to get rid of him as much as you did. You guys were as determined as ever to take this guy down. He didn't really seem very enthusiastic, in fact he seemed apathetic about the whole thing. Oh well, that just shows how little he cares about this battle. If you truly care about the fight then your Pokemon will as well, and they'll give 110% effort. And, without further adieu, the battle.

Shred wasted no time getting started. He dashed at that squirrle and delivered two fierce Scratches. Both hit hard, digging deep into his face. That Arkisu would be having a tough time seeing with those deep gashes. Blood stung his eyes, but he was still standing. He was wobbling a bit though, he was losing quite a bit of blood. His trainer didn't seem to care though, and he ordered him regardless. "Arki, use two more Quick Attacks." The Arkisu shook his head to clear his mind and dashed at Shred. The first hit was dead on, smacking him hard, but the second he swerved off the path and hit a wall quite hard. Looks like that blood loss was affecting his equilibrium. The cabin boy didn't care though, he ordered him through it.

"Try one more Quick Attack." Jeez, talk about not caring for your Pokemon. This guy was pushing his Arkisu to the extreme. The little squirrel tried to start back up again, but ended up just ramming into the box that Shellshock had used as a target for Spark. This guy was in no condition to battle. The cabin boy just shrugged and returned him. "Looks like you win." With that the cabin boy left you guys. Well...woo hoo? I guess you won. And, you managed to get that last bit of experience before the tournament, so good for you!
