HELLOOO! And welcome to Zaroff Island! After you both received your new partners, you're ready to begin your journeys together. Embarking on your very own Pokemon Journey is very exciting, but it's also a big responsibility. You have to remember to take care of your friends and your Pokemon. And in this case, you might not know a whole lot about Pokemon. That's alright, you'll catch on eventually. Traveling with a friend can be a very great experience. You will both learn a lot from each other. Along the way you might not always agree on something, but in the end you'll find that getting your way isn't always the most important thing. So anyways, let's talk location. Zaroff Island is the one of the largest unexplored areas throughout Alternia. Unless you're very careful, Zaroff Island can be a very dangerous place. The chances of running into a wild Pokemon can be very high, so it's a great place to add additional members to your "squad". To the west is Adler's Puddle, probably a great place to catch some Water-Type Pokemon. And to the North is the Twin Peaks Mountains, a good place to test your Pokemon's skill. So, you have a choice. You can do anything you want, except kill someone. You can't kill someone...Just not right... You both walked the streets of Zaroff Island, following paths leading in the direction opposite of the research center. Step after step you took, feeling more confident every second. Then suddenly, something came from behind you (Saya) and knocked you over. After landing harshly on the ground, you looked up to find a small Corphish standing before you. Walking towards the Corphish were two young girls. One girl had a small Pidgey perched on her shoulder. The other girl looked at you and began to laugh. "Ha, what a loser. Nice shot, Corphish," she said. Ouch, how rude. "I'm Beth, this is my friend Suki. How 'bout a battle?" Well, if I were you, I'd battle these girls and show 'em who's boss. But, it's your choice. So....Go on now! Level 5 Level 5

Both of your pokemon were attacking, excellent, the sailor grimaged at this, two on one was bad enough, but with a pokemon with such low health it was almost suicide. Still the seafarer would not back down even though it was stormy it was rocky and the Captain was trying hard to keep you afloat, it was almost a crime for this man to be slacking off, if the ship went down because of his lack of commitment it would be disasterous. The battle went on however, Electrike and Shroomish stood side by side facing their common adversary. Tentacool was really a coward at heart, and when the two pokemon lept, he did too, though away from the confrontation. This may have just saved the poor little mite, however his body was crippled with paralysis and he could only be slammed into by the two pokemon. There was no need for a second tackle from either of them, yet it was still carried out, the jellyfish pokemon was very beaten up, it eyes looked dazed, yet still open. It was however unconcious and the two of you could rejoyice that the battle was essentially in the bag now. Shroomish even gained a little HP from Poison Heal, a small amount but at least it was healing. It also seemed that Electrike had lost its Attack bonus for this round. So I guess thats it, you won. The total EXP gain was... wait, Im missing something, it seems you pokemon were too, because at this moment their side were too their remaining opponent and two powerful water guns slammed into them, knocking them down a little. Psyduck had been ignore almost the entire battle but boy was it a strong pokemon. It was now your target, dual attacks against this thing would bring it down but it ceratinly wasn't giving up without a fight. It also seemed to have lost its paralysis, go team you, get the little duck-er.

Katsu chuckled as he saw the Tentacool try to leap away from the fight. However, it wasn't going to help, he saw, as the Shroomish and the Electrike charged forward. The two were starting to work better together, despite the fact that the Electrike didn't seem too keen on it. The necessity of battle was making it more likely that they were going to have to become a team. It was...interesting, to watch the two work. There was something amiss though, as the two pokemon put down the tentacled monster. Katsu really wasn't sure what it was, until there was a burst of Water Gun off from the side. The Psyduck was still alive, and kicking, and no longer suffering from its paralysis. That was a bad list of things, as far as he was concerned. However. the Psyduck was now against two pokemon which both had a type advantage against it. "Shroomish, we're getting close now! Let's finish this fight! Channel your energy, and unleash a Triple Absorb on that Psyduck!" The trainer watched him, his eyes on the Shroomish and the opponent's Psyduck. He definitely had the advantage in type, though he could tell that his opponent was more experienced. However, with Shellshock there too, it shouldn't be too difficult. A handicapped match, it seemed, would be the most beneficial way for them to handle this. "We've got this Saya! Just a little more!" |

Saya nodded swiftly in response to Katsu's words, a smirk forming on her face as she watched the battle proceed. Tentacool was swiftly knocked out, and her face split into a huge grin. "That'a boy, Shellshock! Show him how it's done!" she roared, causing a bit of disruption among the others. She didn't seem to care, though, so enraptured with the battle was she. She was so proud of her Electrike, despite the fact he was going up against these two Pokemon that were, really, so much stronger than he. Sparing a glance to her PokeTech to check the Dex entry on Tentacool and Psyduck, as well as buy a few more lottery tickets, Saya returned her eyes to her Electric-type Pokemon. The little guy looked mildly worn. She was about to recall him, thinking perhaps she could switch him out with Sydney or Shred...when suddenly the Electrike was hit by a rogue shot of water. Saya gasped. Snap! "Who the hell do you think you are?!" she shouted, her pupils dilating quite noticeably as she thrust a finger toward the Psyduck. Shellshock shook the water off of his body, looking somewhat weary. "Shellshock, come here!" Saya ordered, removing a Potion from her dark blue bag. She held the bottle toward the Electric-type, spraying the medicine once. "Now that you're feeling a little more up to it, get out there and hand that Psyduck its own ass on a platter." she spat, watching the battle with quite a bit of anger, now. "Use a Thunder Wave to paralyze it again before Shroomish goes in for his attacks. Once he's done, deliver a Tackle to his face. Show him how it's done!" Saya crossed her arms, dark green eyes setting on the Psyduck, almost as if daring it to strike back. She was angry, now, and that could spell disaster for the sailor in command of these Pokemon, should the Psyduck get in another "lucky shot"...even if it was a totally valid move. It seemed Saya did not like the idea of losing. |

The battle was still raging on, almost as intensely as the storm going on outside. The sailors who were busy trying to control the ship could barely be seen as the rain beat down on the deck and the lightning flashed, illuminating the windows. The battle inside seemed to be going very well for the two of you. With Tentacool down the battle was now 2 v 1. However Psyduck was pretty powerful, you two better take him seriously. As instructed Shellshock let off a Thunder Wave, before Shroomish launched his attacks. Psyduck sat oblivious to what was going on around him. As a result, he was hit with the Thunder Wave and instantly paralyzed. Next was Shroomish, who attempted three Absorbs, one was blocked as Psyduck fired a Water Gun through the attack and hit Shroomish hard. The other two attacks were a success, dealing super effective damage to the little duck, healing Shroomish even more. Finally Shellshock ran at great speeds to hit hard with a Tackle attack, however he stopped as Psyduck was ordered to use a Water Gun at close range. As Shellshock grew closer, Psyduck blasted out a Water Gun that hit Shellshock right between the eyes, knocking the little cub across the ship. Psyduck had taken a fair amount of damage this round, but was still standing strong. Maybe next round you could finish this off. Be careful though, as Shellshock is a lot weaker than the duck, and another few Water Guns would be more than enough to finish him off. Be careful.

Katsu glanced at Saya, able to hear the difference in her voice, not to mention her entire attitude. He blinked once as she spat out vehement curses at the little Psyduck, and he wondered if the Sailor was going to try and match her. He didn’t know if she quite had the mouth of a Sailor, but he also wasn’t sure if he’d like to find out. However, he returned his focus to the battle, watching it unfold as the Psyduck launched another Watergun at Shellshock, sending the electric pup backwards. ”All right Shroomish, you’re on guard duty,” he spoke, gesturing towards the Electrike, who was getting back up to his feet. ”Go ahead and launch an Absorb at the Psyduck, but keep your eyes on Shellshock, and intercept any Water Guns or any other attack, really, that’s aimed at him,” he spoke, patting the Shroomish on the side. Electrike, though it had a type advantage against the Psyduck, was vastly weaker in comparison, which meant that if it took too many hits, it was still just as likely to faint. Shroomish was a bit tougher, and on top of that, it was recovering health every few seconds from the poison, not to mention the constant Absorbs. So if the little mushroom was able to keep at least part of the heat from Saya’s pokemon, he would’ve done his job. ”If you have time to fire another Absorb, go for it, but keeping Shellshock from the line of fire is your first priority,” he reiterated, before watching the next round of combat play out. |

Saya's glare darkened as she watched Shellshock begin his attacks that she had ordered so meticulously for him to do. The Thunder Wave went through like a dream, and she kept an eye on Shroomish as he used two Absorbs. Shellshock finished it off with a powerful tackle before the two Pokemon came on back. The Psyduck still seemed paralyzed in place, and so her eyes flickered over to Shellshock, who had departed from Shroomish once the mushroom had moved to listen to what Katsu had to say. "Shellshock, we're going to try something different, here." she said in a low tone, her dark green eyes still set on the Sailor and his Psyduck. "Let's try something out. You hear that sound outside? The really loud booming noise that is utterly deafening, out here? That's called thunder. Do you know what follows it?" She glanced down to the Electrike, who let out a small 'Trike!'. Saya didn't really know what he had said, but she figured it had something to do with the topic at hand, or at least she hoped so. "Lightning. Lightning is an electric charge and is the biggest, most straightforward example of Electric abilities, like the ones you hold." She examined Shellshock briefly, able to see some of the sparks around his fur. "Shellshock. Electrike build up their electrical charges by the friction they get from moving around so quickly. You store it in your fur, right? I'm sure you can feel that sort of energy pulsing through you, that sensation of power. So, let's try and learn an attack, shall we? I want to teach you Spark." With a swish of her hair, she let her black bangs fall over the majority of her face before looking back up at their opponents. She had overheard Katsu's orders to his Pokemon, and was quietly thankful for it; Shellshock could use all the protection he could get for this training. It was, perhaps, fairly foolish to decide to do this in this type of battle setting, but perhaps the lightning storm outside would help inspire her Pokemon. "Alright, Shellshock!" she called as the Pokemon moved back into the battle foyer. "To use Spark, focus all of your attention on the static electricity in your fur! When you think you have enough of it built up, try to surround yourself with the electric charge. Don't worry, it won't hurt you. When you think it's stable enough, charge forward and slam your body into that Psyduck while he's still paralyzed! After that, try it again! You can do this!" She lingered back, moving nearer to Katsu, her expression still dark. She was clearly in her less-cheerful state of mind. "I appreciate the order to Shroomish." she murmured to him, not removing her eyes from the fight. |

Tutoring during a battle, eh? I've never seen that as a necessarily brilliant tactic, but you think it's a good idea so more power to you. The sailor smiled and commanded his ducky to use Water Guns to knock out poor Shellshock. Thankfully, the paralysis from waaay back at the beginning of this battle was working its magic, and Psyduck was frozen solid for now. This gave Shellshock time to attempt the tutor. He did feel some static sparks on his skin, generated by the friction of his fur hitting the air. He tried to make use of that electrical energy, and sound himself tingling with some light sparks. He started running forward, building the friction and making the tingles turn into little sparks. He made contact with Psyduck, but it was little more than a regular Tackle. He tried again, but again it was pretty much just a Tackle. He'd need to learn to generate the electricity far faster and with much more power. Still, he was off to a good start with this attack. Meanwhile, Psyduck had recovered from the paralysis and was about to smack a Water Gun up in this bitch. Sorry, I just felt like using that expression. Anyway, Shroomish noticed this and sent an Absorb to smack into Psyduck and ruin his Water Gun. This was quickly followed by a second Absorb, sucking even more health from the unlucky ducky. It had done some decent damage and sucked some good energy and health off of him. Looks like this round went more in your favour than the last. Keep it up and you'll beat this guy in no time (not to mention be $200 richer for it)! Team Katsaya Surly Sailor

Saya watched closely as Shellshock started concentrating on the electric current in his fur, but when he ran forward to attack, most of the sparks seemed to go away and the attack turned into a normal Tackle. He seemed to be getting the general idea, though, and she wanted to keep encouraging that. "That's the main idea, Shellshock. You need to concentrate on the electric energy surging through your fur. You're a fast little guy, we both know that, and whenever you move around the static electricity concentrates itself in your fur. Try to build it up when you run forward- let the friction continuously add to the electricity around you until you slam into your opponent and the charge transfers to them. You can do this, I believe in you!" Her green eyes flickered toward the Psyduck, who was starting to look tired from Shroomish's absorbs. They then moved to her own Pokemon. "We're going to try two more Sparks, okay? Focus all of your energy into the buildup of your electricity, okay? It should feel natural. Don't try and force anything- all you need to do is concentrate. That's the key, here." Shellshock gave a small 'Elec' in return to her words, and she nodded somewhat, lifting her PokeTech and moving through a few screens to get to the profile for Electrike. They didn't learn Spark until level 20...so if he could learn it early, it would give him a clear advantage over most other Electric-types his level.[/b] Edited by Saya Lenal, May 22 2010, 09:47 AM.

Katsu glanced at Saya and her Electrike, getting an idea for what she was doing, but still, the concept of teaching a pokemon a move early was sort of lost on Katsu. Then again, he wasn't really in any dire need of any attacks, right now. Absorb did a pretty good job of keeping Shroomish from taking a lot of damage. It was a simple technique, and he knew that, eventually, the little pokemon would learn Mega and Giga drain, which were both just amped up versions of Absorb. Maybe he might take some time out of his day at some point to see if he couldn't get the Shroomish to learn them...but at the same time, he didn't really think that it was too necessary. At least, not yet. "All right Shroomish, good job. But we're gonna help out Saya and Shellshock, all right?" he asked, knowing that his Shroomish was a team player, if nothing else. He'd do what was necessary to get the job done, and make sure that all of his allies were alive as well. "Okay, we're going to play guard dog, here. Your main duty, again, is to keep Shellshock from taking any hits. That's pretty much all I want you to focus on, right now. You've got that poison in you and you can Absorb if your health ever gets low, but right now you're sitting pretty." he glanced at the Psyduck, which seemed to still be reeling from the paralysis and the attacks from last turn. He wanted to make sure it lived long enough for Shellshock to learn what it needed to. "So don't Absorb, or even attack, at all. The only thing I want you to focus on is making sure that Shellshock doesn't take any damage. He'll be the attacker for now, okay?" he spoke, patting his little mushroom on the side. Shroomish seemed a little upset about not getting to do damage, but he knew it was for the greater good. He didn't mind, really, because he knew if the going got tough, he'd be needed to fight regularly. Comforted with that thought, Shroomish waited, watching the Psyduck to be able to anticipate any of its movements, and do what he needed to do to keep Shellshock safe so the Electrike could focus. |

Shellshock felt a bit more confident with his new instructions. He'd already gotten the beginning ideas of Spark, now it was just a matter of perfecting the attack. He focused hard, letting the electricity flow around him. He felt tingly, and knew that it was because of the tiny sparks bouncing around on his skin. He focused really hard and felt those sparks intensify. It wasn't the the point where he was surrounded by electricity, but it was better than last time. When he felt confident, he dashed forward. Psyduck was preparing for the impact. He got ready to squirt a Water Gun, but the paralysis had worsened from the weak electrical contact to him, so he was stuck. When Shellshock approached him, the friction to his fur made the electricity stronger. Trying to focus very hard on holding the electricity, he didn't even notice that he was about to slam into Psyduck. When he did, it surprised him. The charge greatly decreased, but some was left. It transferred into Psyduck, giving him a weak electrical shock. Instinctively, the duck smacked down on Shellshock with his hands, bonking the little guy on the head. The attack may have been an instinctual reaction or something, but it hurt quite a bit. Shellshock would have to really watch out next round. Shroomish sat there, waiting for his moment of glory. He saw that Psyduck wass getting a Water Gun ready, and jumped to the rescue! He dashed over there as fast as his little stubby mushroom legs would take him. He took a dive, and intercepted the squirt of water. It almost looked like a slow motion video clip, his dive, the scream of "Shroooooooooooommmmmmmmmm!!!!!!" It all screamed slow-mo. Shroomish landed on the floor and everyone looked shocked. But then he got up and was fine, it was just a water gun. He looked around at all the shocked faces and waddled away again. Well that was...interesting. Shellshock shook his head to bring himself back into the battle and remembered he was supposed to give another Spark. He focused on the electrical energy around him, and felt the tinglies. He lunged at the Psyduck in front of him, and smacked right into him. He was much closer to the Psyduck this time, so he didn't have the added bonus of generating electricity on the way to him. Still, he did manage to gather a weak charge and give that duck a little jolt. He was still pretty far from learning the attack, but he was getting on his way. Team Katsaya Silly Sailor

Saya's brow furrowed as she saw Shellshock get hit, looking like he was near the end of his rope. She cursed violently beneath her breath. She needed him to survive through this- if he were to win, he'd get quite the boost in level. She heaved a shaky sigh, putting a hand on the top of her head as she contemplated what to do next. To give herself a little more time to think, she took advantage of the Lottery Special Offer and bought five more tickets before returning her gaze to Shellshock. Finally, she returned her attention to the battle, heaving a small sigh. She popped her knuckles before narrowing her green eyes. "Alright, Shellshock, let's lay off of Spark for now, okay? We can get back to that later. Come on back into your Poke Ball!" She held out the sphere, recalling her Electrike in a red beam of light. Tossing some of her black hair out of her face, she thought about what to do next. She didn't want to put Shred into a battle with a Water-type; that could be dangerous. So, she withdrew the other Poke Ball from her waist, throwing it onto the battlefield. "Okay, Sydney, you're up!" she called as the little fish flopped around on deck, looking fairly irritated that she was let out of her Poke Ball. "Use two Strikes on that Psyduck! Don't worry, you should be able to take him out pretty easily now, she's already at really low health!" She knew Shellshock wouldn't receive as much experience as he would have if he had remained for the rest of this battle, but Sydney needed to learn what it was like to be in a battle. The Magikarp was going to prove herself- that much was necessary. She didn't doubt the little Water-type for an instant. "You can do it, Sydney. I believe in you." Saya said calmly, eying the fish. "Now go." Edited by Saya Lenal, May 24 2010, 01:52 PM.

Katsu glanced to Saya, seeing the look of irritation on her face as Shellshock once again failed to do the Shock attack just right. That, or the fact that the Psyduck had smacked the little creature atop the head, causing Shellshock to stumble backwards, looking a little confused and out of it, after the hit. He raised an eyebrow as he saw her checking her Poketech, and he heard the familiar background music of the Lottery, and checked it himself, giving a slight nod to himself as he noticed that the tickets were half off this week. He shrugged to himself before buying a set of five for himself, before letting his eyes flicker back to the battle. The Electrike was playing it defensively, trying not to lose itself in this. He knew that Saya really wanted Shellshock to live through both of these opponents, as the power gain would be quite substantial. However, the plans seemed to change as she withdrew the Electrike, replacing him with the Magikarp that was caught recently. Well hell, the Psyduck was beaten down quite badly, so maybe going at it with two weaker pokemon was a good way to raise them. "Shroomish, let's take a break. Come on back," he spoke, the pokeball emitting a beam of red light, absorbing the Shroomish back into the pokeball before releasing the Snorunt, which looked a little confused. "All right here Snorunt, let's get this battle underway. Go ahead and Leer twice at this Psyduck. Stare right into those beady little eyes and show him what real fear is!" the trainer announced. Snorunt, however, turned to look at him, looking at him with a bit of...uncertainty. Or perhaps disbelief. However, it had been commanded to do so, and that was its duty as a pokemon. He just hoped that these two weaker pokemon could handle it. |

Wait, you're both on the verge of victory and you withdraw your pokemon and replace them with weaker ones? That's severely decreases the amount of experience each pokemon gets. Not only that but only launching two attacks, even with weakening the Psyduck's defence may not be enough to actually take it out. This was a risky move, but this was your decision to make. Let's hope it all pays off. Shooting two Leers at Psyduck, Snorunt successfully lowered the dumb duck's defence, making damage a lot easier to deal. Next up was Sydney the Magikarp, who flailed about aimlessly and flopped forward, delivering a pathetic Strike with her fin. Trying for another one, she was pushed back as the Psyduck unleashed a Scratch, then getting up close, striking with a tail Whip for good measure. This pokemon was planning to stay in the game until the every end. It would fall soon however, but it was going to give you a run for your money. The sailor knew this battle was almost over, but he couldn't help but be impressed with his pokemon's determination. He had a cheeky grin on his face as he chuckled: "Ma pokemon's strong ain't it?!" Anyway, another round of attacks SHOULD finish this guy off. If both pokemon combine their attacks I fail to see how Psyduck can continue. Saya rolled her eyes, grunting. "Strong. Right." she muttered, her gaze dark as she watched the Psyduck. It was a good idea on Katsu's part to lower the Psyduck's defense so they could get some actual damage done. Rolling her shoulders, she heaved a sigh. "Sydney, you're doing great." she called to the Magikarp, who was watching Psyduck with a hint of irritation in her eyes. "Use two more Strikes on that Psyduck! Put all of your body into it, knock him out! You can do it!" She wanted this battle to end as soon as possible so that she could possibly calm down. The anger fuming through her from her snapping was starting to get annoying, which only added to her frustration in total. Brushing her black hair out of her green eyes, she popped her knuckles. "Go!" Sydney threw herself forward, and Saya kept a careful eye on her before she felt something rummage in her back. She blinked, removing her pack from her shoulder and opening it. She gasped. Snap! "Aaaaaaaah!" she squealed, her whole face lighting up as she saw the egg beginning to crack. It was hatching! She bit her bottom lip, watching cautiously as the little creature stuck one foot out, then another, and then finally a head. It was definitely Genbu's offspring, all right; looked exactly like that monstrosity they had fought what seemed like days ago, when in reality it had merely been several hours. So much was happening, now that she was a Pokemon Trainer...all in such a short amount of time... She picked up the Genbu and, upon seeing that it was a girl, grinned and snuggled the creature. "Hey there, Geruda!" she said sweetly to the creature, who chirped a happy "Gen!" in return. She was much sweeter than her mother, that was for sure. Saya glanced to her human companion. "Katsu, has yours hatched yet?!" Edited by Saya Lenal, May 26 2010, 04:55 PM.

Katsu nodded at the Snorunt, who still didn't appear to like him very much. He frowned, wondering if she was always going to be a snob. However, he didn't really have time to speak, as the Psyduck lashed out at the Magikarp, hurting Sydney a little bit. "Well that wasn't cool," he murmured as he glanced at the Psyduck, which seemed to have ignored its paralysis for that round. However, the amount of damage it had saved them prior to this matchup made the paralytic waves of Shellshock extremely valuable. However, as the two pokemon finished their little bout, the sailor made a comment, and Katsu couldn't tell if he was being serious or not. "Yeah, it is pretty strong," Katsu spoke, not touching upon the fact that they hadn't even began to touch the Psyduck until the Tentacool was put into the ground. However, this wasn't the time for insults; the battle wasn't yet at an end. He swallowed the comment that was on his tongue, before he glanced down at the Snorunt, and pointed at the Psyduck. "Leer at it twice more, now. Let's show that Psyduck that we mean some serious business," he spoke, finding it...odd that Magikarp was doing the fighting, and his Snorunt was hanging back, providing support. However, shortly after he announced his commands, there was a strange sense in his pack, and he paused, glancing inside of it. The Genbu egg was starting to move. Gently, Katsu removed it from his bag just as Saya asked her question. "Looks like it's about to now," he responded as he watched it, the thing moving and bobbing in his hands before the shell was broken, and the little creature managed to shed the remainder of its shell. "Well hey there Genbu," he said with a grin. He liked it, even though it resembled the GIGANTIC thing they'd beaten earlier that day. Even if it seemed like it had been at least a day or two. He shook his head, looking back to the battle. |
