HELLOOO! And welcome to Zaroff Island! After you both received your new partners, you're ready to begin your journeys together. Embarking on your very own Pokemon Journey is very exciting, but it's also a big responsibility. You have to remember to take care of your friends and your Pokemon. And in this case, you might not know a whole lot about Pokemon. That's alright, you'll catch on eventually. Traveling with a friend can be a very great experience. You will both learn a lot from each other. Along the way you might not always agree on something, but in the end you'll find that getting your way isn't always the most important thing. So anyways, let's talk location. Zaroff Island is the one of the largest unexplored areas throughout Alternia. Unless you're very careful, Zaroff Island can be a very dangerous place. The chances of running into a wild Pokemon can be very high, so it's a great place to add additional members to your "squad". To the west is Adler's Puddle, probably a great place to catch some Water-Type Pokemon. And to the North is the Twin Peaks Mountains, a good place to test your Pokemon's skill. So, you have a choice. You can do anything you want, except kill someone. You can't kill someone...Just not right... You both walked the streets of Zaroff Island, following paths leading in the direction opposite of the research center. Step after step you took, feeling more confident every second. Then suddenly, something came from behind you (Saya) and knocked you over. After landing harshly on the ground, you looked up to find a small Corphish standing before you. Walking towards the Corphish were two young girls. One girl had a small Pidgey perched on her shoulder. The other girl looked at you and began to laugh. "Ha, what a loser. Nice shot, Corphish," she said. Ouch, how rude. "I'm Beth, this is my friend Suki. How 'bout a battle?" Well, if I were you, I'd battle these girls and show 'em who's boss. But, it's your choice. So....Go on now! Level 5 Level 5

The man glanced at Saya, keeping a mental list of what she was telling him. He knew that everything was important, but it was still difficult to remember it all. It was...overwhelming, at times. He didn't know everything, and that was becoming increasingly obvious the more he went along. Every time he thought that he was just about to get something, to really understand it, something new came his way and he just lost everything. He gave a slight sigh, and then glanced up at the coming storm. Looking down at the little Snorunt, he gave it a slight frown. "Look, I'm sorry about snubbing you a little at the Pokemon Center. But we had to go." The little creature still gave him an angry look, but agreed to go back into the offered Poke Ball, what with the storm approaching. He stood, glancing up into the dark clouds on the horizon. Glancing to the sailors, he heard them clamoring about the storm, and to get down below deck. That meant that, if these sailors were afraid of this storm, that meant that they, as mere passengers, would really need to be on their toes. Glancing up from the door down to below deck, he frowned up at the clouds. "Saya...I think we better get below deck. This...this storm isn't really something that we should experience..." he murmured, looking off as lightning flashed off in the distance. "I think we should get downstairs. Now," he said, standing and putting his hand on her arm, urging her up too. |

Saya nodded a few times at Katsu, heaving a small sigh as she followed him below deck, shutting the door behind her just as the rain starting pouring down upon the boat. The constant, rocking movements were starting to make her feel slightly ill. She set a hand on her head, groaning a bit. "Mmngh..." she grunted, regaining her balance and composure as she moved off of the wall, following Katsu a little deeper into the room. She was the only female here, it seemed. Her eyes flickered about, before they set on a Sailor, whose Psyduck and Tentacool were both drawn. She watched the two Water-types curiously, and she tapped her fingertips on her pantsleg, as if thinking something over. "Katsu." she said sharply, turning toward the man and grasping hold of his arm, tugging him over to where she had been standing. She pointed quite abruptly at the trainer before them. "Can we battle him? Please? I don't want Shellshock to go up against him alone, and Shred's weak against Water-type, so do you think you can help me..?" If he didn't, she supposed she could just double-team with Sydney and Shellshock, and hope that the two of them could pull off a victory together. She wasn't so sure, however, and would indeed prefer if Katsu helped. |

Katsu glanced at Saya as the girl followed him down below the deck. Just as they shut the door behind him, he heard the rain hit...and hit hard. The entire outside sounded like someone had dropped a whole ton of nails down outside, the sound resounding through the cabin below as if it were just on the other side of a thin curtain. "Well this has turned into kind of a crappy trip, eh?" he asked Saya as the two wandered down to the cabin below. There were quite a few sailors around, either gambling, drinking, fighting, two of the three, or all of the above. He stepped a little closer to Saya, unintentionally being protective of her. He didn't feel that she should be here in a place with all these grown men. At least not alone. She had pokemon, sure, but if every one of these sailors had just one pokemon...even as skilled as she was, she'd be overwhelmed. However, before he really had a chance to do much of anything, Saya pulled him towards one of the sailors. She wanted to fight him, he gathered, which would leave it at a 2v2...but then her...electrical dog wasn't exactly the most experienced in battle. So he'd go with her...but he didn't know if the man would go for it. It wasn't exactly fair, but hey. They were just kids and he was a full-grown man. He nodded to her. "I've got your back. Let's do this." he said with a smirk, moving towards him. |

Derping... All Day, Every Day!

Got yourselves caught in a nasty storm, do ya? Well, no worries, you have time to pass, even though the boat is violently shaking. You both could hear rain pouring down on the deck, it was as loud as guns firing, or something large hitting the Earth. What a sound, the heavy sound beating inside of your skulls from being near the deck. Well, certainly a battle wouldn't do harm. You have time. Walking up to the sailor, he stood. He didn't like strangers too much, and you walking up to him made him angry. He wasn't the time to sit back and let people walk straight for him. In a way, he knew you wanted him. A battle, maybe? His face showed you everything. As you met, with only inches apart from you, Saya offered up the battle propose to him. She eagerly seemed to want it, why not have her ask. The man accepted, having the boat sway him to the left a little hard. But Psyduck and Tentacool were already out and ready to go. "You can go first, after releasing your pokemon." How nice of the sailor to offer you both the first offensive commands. Well, he turned into a bit of a gambler, "Hey, how about we battle for something. What do you say? 200 bucks from each of ya' if I win, but 200 for both of ya' if you manage to win." An evil smirk crossed his face.

Saya's grin spread across her face as the sailor addressed them, though her arrogant moment was put off by a sudden, forceful rock of the boat, which nearly sent her toppling over. She regained her balance at the last second, clearing her throat before brandishing a Poke Ball, pointing at the man before her. "Yeah, I'll accept that bet! I hope you're ready." she said, grin only spreading before she reared back, throwing the Poke Ball toward the floor. "Let's go, Shellshock!" The small Electrike emerged from his Poke Ball, letting out a small yapping sound as he prepared his body. Saya side-glanced to Katsu, stepping over a little closer to him. "I'm gonna use Shellshock more as a bolster to whoever you send out, okay?" she said in a hushed tone, watching Shellshock carefully. "You be on the offensive, I'll be helping out along the way, okay? Good." She didn't give him much of an option as she smirked, pointing ahead. "Shellshock, let's start this off strong! Use a Thunder Wave on both of those Pokemon!" she commanded, and Electrike snarled a "Trike!" in response before moving forward, preparing to take on these opponents. The boat gave another violent rock, and Saya gasped, tumbling a little toward Katsu. She instinctively grabbed his arm to keep herself steady, putting a hand on her head. "I really wish this boat would stop rocking..." she mumbled, her hand lingering on Katsu's arm for a brief while before she stood up straight, trying to steady herself again. Glancing down to her PokeTech, she made a quick swipe of the screen to order a few more lottery tickets before returning her gaze to the beginning battle. Edited by Saya Lenal, May 7 2010, 08:27 PM.

The man glanced over at Saya, looking over at her. She seemed to be pretty psyched about this whole battle. The rocking boat would make this battle a little harder to handle, as the constant swaying would keep footing from being constant. That'd make it more than a little difficult, especially for him and Saya, who didn't have any sea legs. However, before he had a chance to mention it, Saya had already accepted the bet. "Yeah, alright. Two-hundred down, and we'll see what happens," he spoke, giving a small grin, his pulse starting to increase as the thoughts of battle pervaded his senses. He wanted to fight again; he really enjoyed the competition that came with a battle. Matching his wits against an opponent, and showing the skill that he'd developed was almost like...a way to measure his own growth as a trainer. He glanced over as Saya let loose her Electrike, the little electrical dog that she'd just obtained. He wasn't so sure that she should be using the dog so soon, considering the fact that she'd just gotten him added to her team. A battle against a wild pokemon might have been a better choice for her starting battle with Shellshock, but he wasn't going to blame her for picking a good battle type-choice, given the fact that they were against water types. "You wanna play backup? I suppose that's cool," he spoke, though he didn't know how he felt about leading the attack. Considering that the man hadn't had a whole lot of experience, really, it wasn't much of a stretch to say that he was rather...nervous. He'd likely rely on his Shroomish for this, as it had a type advantage, on top of being his strongest, and his most-trusting. It was...the best choice, really. "C'mon Shroomish!" he called as he released the little pokemon, which looked at the opponents once before readying itself for combat. "We're going after the Tentacool first, so I want you to hit it with two Absorbs. You've got that fancy Miracle Seed thing, so I want you to go at this with everything you've got!" he called, pointing out towards the Sailor's pokemon. Just then, the boat rocked, and though Katsu managed to hold his balance, Saya didn't, as she stumbled over, landing roughly against him. However, though she could've gotten off of him immediately once she'd managed to gain back her balance...but he couldn't help but notice that she didn't. He gave a quick smile, feeling something strange flitting in his chest. He glanced over at her, and gave a swift squeeze on her shoulder, helping her to right herself though he let his hand linger a little too long. |

Derping... All Day, Every Day!

The boat was caught in that storm--still. Rocking a little bit gentler now, but still having moments. The both of you seemed to be on top of things, having a bit of battle-partner chemistry. It seems as so you both could work together, and have plans when going into a battle. Not bad, but let's see how that holds up. Electrike went first, sending a nasty wave of electricity through the rocking air. If I was one of you, Saya or Katsu, I'd be sea-sick by now. It's a good thing you're not. The wave hit both pokemon, inducing a status ailment; personally the top of the worst. This would be towards your luck, having them succumb to paralysis, it was all good though. The Psyduck was fully inflicted with the Thunder Wave, and could not move at all. Although the boat kind of swayed, and the duck moved over a little. The Shroomish was ordered for using two attacks that would do good damage on these pokemon, and especially with Miracle Seed. This battle would go quick. The small mushroom pokemon did his job by firing a green energy stream. Being paralyzed, the Tentacool had no defense. The energy was being sucked out of him. Quickly, another beam hit him, and even more energy was leaving him. But wait, what was this? Tentacool's ability helped it; Shroomish took damage as well. Your double battle was looking up to your advantage. With both enemy pokemon paralyzed, they could do nothing this round. Take advantage of this; don't let this slip away.

A small smirk passed Saya's face as she popped her fingers, proud of her Electrike for hitting the opponents with his Thunder Wave. "That'a boy, Shellshock!" she praised, and the Electrike barked merrily, nearly turning to go run back to her. "No no, no, you have to keep battling," Saya added with a weak chuckle, and Shellshock nodded fiercely before turning back to his opponents, his fur bristling out. Saya pointed at the Tentacool. "Alright, Shellshock, now that they're paralyzed, Focus on making your attacks stronger! Then, when you're ready, run in and deliver two Tackles to that Tentacool! When you finish, be sure to get back and avoid any sort of retaliation either of them can do, okay?" "Trike!" Shellshock yapped, his fur bristling out even more as he ran forward, preparing himself to go through with each of the moves he had been ordered to do. Saya really hoped that those two Pokemon would remain paralyzed; it could be disastrous if he got hit too much. She side-glanced to Katsu and his Shroomish, before returning her gaze to the battlefield. He had a type advantage on Water-type, though the Poison of Tentacool could be somewhat problematic, if it managed to actually fight back. Saya heaved a quiet sigh, keeping a close eye on Shellshock. If need be, she could return him to his Poke Ball and throw out Sydney, or maybe even Shred, if necessary. Even with the type disadvantage, Shred had long-since proven himself to her, and she didn't doubt the little Torchic could take on these opponents. |

The young trainer grinned as he saw the Electrike let loose with the Thunder wave, causing both of the opponents to now struggle with the paralysis. "Nice one, Shock," he spoke, already giving a nickname to the already-nicknamed creature. He didn't really know that Shellshock would appreciate it, but he didn't really care, at the moment, as they were locked in battle. However, he saw that the Absorbtion technique wasn't exactly as effective as he'd hoped. It seemed like the creature had a similar ability to the Genbu creature they'd fought just a little while ago. Whenever his Shroomish had tried to Absorb some health from the creature, it had harmed it, instead. "Well that's not going to work," he spoke, and glanced at his Shroomish, which was looking a little ill from the Ooze that he absorbed. But the small creature stood defiantly, not about to let something as simple as this keep him down. "Alright, Shroomish, here's what I want you to do," he said as he knelt down beside the mushroom creature, pointing at the Tentacool. "I know you don't really like it, but I want you to Absorb twice on that Tentacool again. It mighta made you feel a little ill, but you did a number on him. And now Shellshock's gonna help you take down that jellyfish, so you two do whatcha gotta do," he spoke, coming to a standing position, watching as the rest of the battle began to play out. Derping... All Day, Every Day!

Saya had ordered her electric pokemon to perform the three move combo that everyone can use once per battle. The Electrike would be using his, and it looks to be for good use. He quickly used Focus, upping his attack. Tackle was a plain move, which a lot of pokemon knew. Rushing in, the electric pokemon went in, hoping to make a mark with it's twin tackle. It leaped up, aiming for the Tenatacool. A tackle was delivered right into the jellyfish's face. Paralysis over took the water pokemon, and a second tackle was in the Electrike's grasp. Katsu, even though Shroomish took in poison, ordered for it too use Absorb once more. Why was no one caring about the Psyduck? Either way, the Shroomish had a grimace look to it, not exactly wanting more poison. Tentacool was actually too types... Water and Poison. As Shroomish won over Water, the Poison still negated a big influence in the moves of grass origin. The poison, in which it absorbed back, would eventually catch up to it. Using Absorb once, the Shroomish snatched health away, only to receive some damage from the ooze. Again, as Katsu ordered, the Shroomish took it in. Finally, the poison was setting in, taking away even more energy as Shroomish hoped. Yet, in a way, the second one took even more out of Tentacool. The Absorbs done by Shroomish rendered Tentacool useless for the time being. Psyduck was fighting through the paralyzed state, trying to attempt attacks. It barely could, but it managed to barely wag it's stub of a tail. Such an action took Electrike and Shroomish to watch, wondering it something would happen. All that happened was their stats lowered. This gave enough time for the Tenatcool to open up. "Let 'em have it, Tentacool!" The trainer said, barking out a command to encourage Tentacool to fight back. The jellyfish did so, firing little pin projectiles at Shroomish. It was a Poison Sting. The poison absorbed and this attack proved to Shroomish that poison status could happen. But it was for your benefit. Shroomish seemed like an awesome pokemon to have when dealing with this kind of opponent. Instead of taking extra damage out, the poison was broken down quickly and turned into a healing factor inside of the pokemon. The trainer was shocked, and it appeared to be the next round.

Katsu nodded in approval as he saw the toxins actually start to regenerate his Shroomish, rather than harm it. That had actually been the plan for him, all along, as he knew of the creature's ability to be healed, rather than harmed, by poison. He was just hoping that the constant drain of the poisonous creature's health would transfer the poison over that way, rather than being hit by an attack. However, that didn't seem to work quite as he wanted, as the Absorb still only continued to harm his Shroomish. But then, the Tentacool came through with a Poison Sting, the barbs causing the venom to work its way into Shroomish's blood...and healing him. "All right, now to switch to tactic B!" he called out, which he had really only worked out moments before...not that anyone was really keeping track. He glanced down at the Shroomish, which was looking a little bit ill from Absorbing all of the liquid ooze from the Tentacool. He didn't really want to have him do any more of that, so that left Tackle as the only real resource left. It hit a little harder than Absorb, and since the Tentacool's Poison subtype gave it some resistance to the Grass, it seemed the better way to go. "All right, I know you're a little weak from the Absorbs, so I want you to go ahead and Tackle that sucker. Work with Shellshock over there and try to get in two solid Tackles on that guy, you got me?" he asked, and the little creature nodded, taking a breath to ease its queasy stomach. Katsu grinned, glancing at Saya. This battle was making new ground for the Shroomish...and hopefully it wouldn't be long before he became Breloom. |

Saya returned Katsu's grin, before re-centering her dark forest-green eyes on the battlefield. The ship rocked once, but Saya managed to keep her balance, for now. At the collaboration idea, however, Saya was somewhat worried. Shellshock did not seem like he wanted to work together with any other Pokemon, as seen when she had let him and Shred meet. She hoped that maybe, just maybe the little Electrike would swallow his obscene amount of pride and work with the other Pokemon on this. Otherwise she didn't know if he'd make it through. "Shellshock!" she called to her Electric-type, who glanced back at her briefly before returning his eyes to the field. "You need to work together with Shroomish on this one, alright? Please don't do anything rash- if you get hit you could get knocked out really quick. So behave, okay?" Shellshock gave a small growl, his fur bristling as he set his eyes on Shroomish. "Shellshock..." Saya repeated warningly, her green eyes narrowing. "Don't make me get cross with you, please. Now! Work together with Shroomish and deliver two Tackles of your own to the Tentacool! Together you two can potentially take it out, and then we can show that Psyduck who's boss!" Shellshock nodded once, unhappily moving forward, ready to at least cooperate somewhat with the fat little mushroom...thing that was near him. Saya watched worriedly. If Shellshock became too independent and refused to work together with another Pokemon, then she was going to have to recall him in favor of Sydney or Shred. She wasn't going to let one of her own hurt Katsu's on purpose. That just was not acceptable in the slightest. |

In My Little White Room Again
|
My god. Electrike…you don’t even know the memories that brings up for me Miss Saya. I can vividly remember back to when I first started RPing back on an old sight known as Althea, were I was rewarded one of those little cuties after my Growlithe was practically raped by a Magmar before a humungous crowd. Ah, besides totally failing, those times were good. But anyways, I’ll stop my rambling and continue on with your battle against the stalwart sailors you and Katsu are up against. Well, it seems like that Saya’s little tyke is quite rebellious, isn’t he? not wanting to work together with Katsu’s Shroomish and all. Well, I can’t say for sure whether he decided to heed your warnings or not because the moment after you announced his attacks he dashed his way across the boat to the enemy. Being paralyzed and all, the Tentacool didn’t have the power to dodge the first Tackle that went straight to his face. The creature cried out in pain as it recoiled backwards, but then that was when her trainer’s voice filled her nonexistent ears. “Tentacool! When it attacks again grab a hold of it with Wrap and then fire a Poison Sting to its face!” he called out. And so, as Shellshock hurled his body into that of the opposing foe, he was constricted by the creature’s vile tentacles –squeezing the poor mutt tighter and tighter with each passing second. Then the Tentacool readied herself for a Poison Sting attack, at point blank, to Shellshocks face…. When Super Shroomish came into the picture! The little, ugh, plant, blob thing had actually began his attack just seconds after that of Shellsock, so with some quick thinking Katsu’s Shroomish hurled his body into Tentacool’s side –disrupting her attempt to attack and freeing Saya’s Pokemon as well. Confused, the jellyfish creature turned her body around to face her attacker when she was slammed yet again with a Tackle. Your opponent screeched in pain from the brutal attacks it had been burdened with, trying to coax her ally to try and break free from its paralysis to aid her…but alas the Psyduck could barely move. All he managed to do was to give a Staredown to Shellshock, which in reality looked quite stupid, but nevertheless it still served its purpose and you’re Elektrike’s defense was lowered. Overall, a good round. Maybe after witnessing Shroomish protect him Shellshock will be more obedient…only time will tell.

The young man watched the results of the battle before giving a slight nod to his Shroomish. It seemed like he was starting to really get the hang of battling, which only served to increase Katsu's ego. He knew he wasn't the best battler, or the best trainer, but he was starting to really make it somewhere with this whole thing. He spent a lot of his spare time studying information on the Poke Tech, trying to get more information that would, hopefully, make him not be an utter failure as a trainer. He had started to pick out most of the types, and knew, for the most part, what was good against what, but remembering what each pokemon had as its types was something different. Pulling himself out of his reverie, Katsu glanced at the Tentacool, which was almost done. Reaching out his right hand, he tightened the fingerless glove that was upon it before pointing at the still-struggling Tentacool, before giving a nod down at his Shroomish. On one hand, he wanted to use one of his other pokemon in order to spread the experience around a little bit, but he knew that it would be Saya's responsibility next time to use Shred and let him use one of his weaker pokemon. "All right there Shroomish!" he called out, feeling the spirit of battle pounding through his soul. "Just like last time! Watch out for the Tentacool's attacks and do what you can to keep the heat off of Shellshock! Then when you see an opening, go ahead and Tackle it twice!" he called out, ready for this next exchange of blows. Shroomish was performing rather well today, and he wanted to be sure that continued. If they could take out the Tentacool, that would only leave the Psyduck, and with the double type advantage, they'd have this fight in the bag. "Ready, Saya?'' he asked, grinning. |

Saya gave something of a muffled scream as she saw the Tentacool wrap her tentacles around Shellshock, but just as she was about to recall him into his Poke Ball, Shroomish came to the rescue. The little mushroom Pokemon slammed into the squid, forcing Shellshock free. "Good job, Shroomish!" she cheered, doing a fist pump. She glanced over at Katsu with a smirk, nodding in response to his words. "Ready!" Cracking her neck briefly and then following through with her knuckles, Saya's green eyes set forward again, watching the little Electrike.
