HELLOOO! And welcome to Zaroff Island! After you both received your new partners, you're ready to begin your journeys together. Embarking on your very own Pokemon Journey is very exciting, but it's also a big responsibility. You have to remember to take care of your friends and your Pokemon. And in this case, you might not know a whole lot about Pokemon. That's alright, you'll catch on eventually. Traveling with a friend can be a very great experience. You will both learn a lot from each other. Along the way you might not always agree on something, but in the end you'll find that getting your way isn't always the most important thing. So anyways, let's talk location. Zaroff Island is the one of the largest unexplored areas throughout Alternia. Unless you're very careful, Zaroff Island can be a very dangerous place. The chances of running into a wild Pokemon can be very high, so it's a great place to add additional members to your "squad". To the west is Adler's Puddle, probably a great place to catch some Water-Type Pokemon. And to the North is the Twin Peaks Mountains, a good place to test your Pokemon's skill. So, you have a choice. You can do anything you want, except kill someone. You can't kill someone...Just not right... You both walked the streets of Zaroff Island, following paths leading in the direction opposite of the research center. Step after step you took, feeling more confident every second. Then suddenly, something came from behind you (Saya) and knocked you over. After landing harshly on the ground, you looked up to find a small Corphish standing before you. Walking towards the Corphish were two young girls. One girl had a small Pidgey perched on her shoulder. The other girl looked at you and began to laugh. "Ha, what a loser. Nice shot, Corphish," she said. Ouch, how rude. "I'm Beth, this is my friend Suki. How 'bout a battle?" Well, if I were you, I'd battle these girls and show 'em who's boss. But, it's your choice. So....Go on now! Level 5 Level 5

Saya Lenal had never left Alternia Island before. She had been perfectly content at home with her mother and father, at least when they were around. Even when they were away on business, however, she knew how to take care of herself. The wilderness outside of her home was tame and easy to cut through- she could climb trees with little effort and chase Pidgeys and Taillow all she wanted. But out here...out here, this wilderness was different. This was the true wilderness, the wilderness that was dangerous, that her older brother had warned her about going into alone. A hint of bitterness rose up in her soul at the thought of her brother- HE had probably already earned all of his badges. HE had probably gotten a full team of powerful Pokemon ages ago...and here she was, just barely starting. With a sigh, her hand moved absent-mindedly to her hip. The first Poke Ball on her left side contained her Torchic, which she had affectionately dubbed Shred. She had done some studying before she had departed from home, and she could hardly wait for the little creature to evolve. She'd be sure to train him to be stronger than Chalk had ever been, and ever would be! She side-glanced back over her shoulder, checking to see if the man she had run into was still there. Surely enough, he was, tagging right along behind her with his hands in his pockets, whistling a little tune. She wasn't too sure about him, but he hadn't done anything to wrong her, and so she simply walked along merrily. "So," she began, twirling around to face him, interlacing her hands behind her back. "Katsu, was it? What brings you out here into the wilderness?" She grinned cheerfully. "Are you used to this kinda place?" She turned back around, humming a little tune as she awaited his reply. However, she soon felt something crash against her and send her to the ground, face-first. She lay there for a few moments before she slowly began to pick herself up, one eye twitching a bit. She turned around, a peculiar expression on her face as she stared down at the Corphish. Her brow furrowed- she didn't really know the little thing's known moves, so she wasn't about to throw Shred out to a Water type Pokemon. Instead, she turned to the other younger girl, whose Pidgey was perched on her shoulder. "You!" she announced, removing the Poke Ball on her left hip and pointing with her index finger, the rest of her hand clutching the sphere in her palm. "Let's battle, shall we?" Clicking the middle button to expand the ball, she threw it, and in a beam of crimson light the little Fire Pokemon emerged, giving a small "Chic!" as he shook out his feathers. |

Katsu followed along with Saya, his attention drawn elsewhere at the moment as he walked, not used to being out in the open. Most of his time had been spent in Millenia Town, which, while an intellectual hub of advancing technology, was still a pretty drab city, overall. This island was, in a word, lively. There was new kinds of life everywhere he looked, from the greenery of the plants and trees to the occasional pokemon that moved through the taller grass off the beaten path. It was an entirely different world out here, and he found himself a little overwhelmed, by it all. He spared a glance back down to the Shroomish, which followed along behind him without that much of a complaint, despite the fact that it had virtually no legs to speak of. He hadn’t left it out due to some heartened attempt at trying to forge a bond with it, he’d merely forgotten what the professor had told him about the pokeball and how to work it. So instead of returning his Shroomish, he just let the little creature follow along behind him. His eyes flickered back up at Saya, who he realized he’d actually given up quite a bit to go and chase after. Then again, it wasn’t really that he was doing this for her, as much as it seemed like. He’d been looking for a way to get out from under his old man’s rule, and this seemed like a pretty good way to do so. Not to mention that he’d get to hang out with a cute girl who actually seemed to know a bit about pokemon. How could he go wrong? As she asked him the questions, he couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious. She was probably used to diving into treacherous terrain, leading a battalion of pokemon behind her while others around watched in awe. He…came to the islands sometimes, but generally only to a port town to make a delivery before leaving again. He didn’t ever do a whole lot of ‘exploring’ and he wondered if it was important for him to do that. However, before he had a chance to respond, Saya had been knocked over by something, and the next thing he knew, there were two girls there, harassing the both of them. “What do you twerps want?” he asked as he crossed his arms over his chest, his Shroomish coming to a rest near his feet, looking a little worn out. As they announced a battle, the boy blinked. “Er…” The next thing he knew, Saya had stood and was glaring at the owner of the Pidgey. “You know it was the…other one who…right,” he said, letting out a slight sigh, and glanced at his Shroomish. “Um. Alright there. Buddy. I guess we’re going to do a battle…thing. Just like on TV, right?” he asked it, as if expecting it to respond. “Well let’s do this thing!” he roared, pointing at the Corphish. “C’mon Shroomish!” he called, ready to start this fight…he only hoped he knew what he was getting into. Saya's expression was serious as she looked down at the younger girl. Though she seemed confident, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of nervousness in her heart. What if she lost? What if she wasn't cut out to be a Trainer after all? Genji had done the majority of training with Chalk, back then, as he was older and had studied more than she had. Her eyes flickered from Shred to the Pidgey that sat on her opponent's shoulder; it was a small little thing, just as her own starter was. Shred was perhaps three or four inches taller, but even that wasn't saying very much. The Pidgey looked to be in good health, and though she had never battled with Shred before, she couldn't help but feel that the little creature was almost...insignificant in size. She shook off the thought swiftly. No! It wouldn't do to doubt her Pokemon, especially in its first battle. "We can do this, Shred!" she called to the Torchic, who stood at the ready, awaiting his orders. Pointing forward, Saya's green eyes set on the Pidgey, who had now been called down onto an even fighting field with Shred. "Use Scratch and show that Pidgey who's boss!" "Torchic!" Shred chimed as it moved forward, talons at the ready. |

A…battle? Katsu wasn’t entirely sure what he was supposed to do here. Granted, he’d seen a few of the battles on television, but he didn’t really know just how to go about fighting in the same manner that they had on the Pokemon Battle Network. “Uh…Shroomish. You should…uh…” he spoke, frowning as he looked from his pokemon to the Corphish, wondering exactly what he was supposed to be doing. He realized that he didn’t know any of Shroomish’s moves. What did the Professor say again? The Poketech could tell him exactly what moves his pokemon had, or something to that effect? “Uhm…” he said, looking down at the device, which had the information on the Shroomish right at the forefront. “Moves, moves…” he muttered under his breath, pushing the buttons on the device, trying to get it to the page he wanted it at. “Okay. Here we are…uh…” he said, glancing down at the Poketech again before looking up at the Corphish. “Alright! Shroomish! Use that one…absorbing move! Drain its energy!” Katsu called as he pointed, (rather dramatically,) at the opponent’s pokemon. The thrill of battle was certainly exhilarating, and he wanted to do more in the fight, somehow. But from what he knew of the rules, the trainer wasn’t actually allowed to participate in the battle. So now he’d have to just sit and watch…and hope whatever pathetic battling skill he had would be enough to carry him through this. |

Overlord of Trains - GRUNTY GRUNTY GRUNTY GRUNTY
|
This was quite an interesting match. Torchic vs Pidgey, and Shroomish vs Corphish. You switched up what you would've fought to avoid the type disadvantage, and even give yourself a type advantage. I must say, that was pretty smart. But would it stay that way? Read on and find out. Torchic charged at the Pidgey, jumping and clawing the crap out of it with it's talons. That would really hurt, don't you think? Luckily, no eyeballs were gouged out today, as Pidgey made cawing sounds in pain. "Pidgey, don't take that from these chumps! Use tackle then Sand-Attack!" Pidgey managed to get Torchic off, instantly slamming into Shred, dealing about the same damage Shred did. Pidgey then tried to kick up some dirt at Torchic, but the chicken named Shred wasn't a chicken; Or stupid, as it turned away and closed it's eyes, avoiding the attack. Now then, onto the hitler- I mean Shroomish. Your Shroomish seemed to groan a little at the fact that you obviously had no idea what a Pokéball was. Shroomish shot out a curvy green wave of energy, striking Corphish and doing some good damage. Shroomish was also healed a little, but it had no damage to begin with. "Corphishy eee! Oh my god you hurt him how could you waah! Corphish use bubble!" The Corphish unleashed a wave of bubbles at Shroomish and Torchic. Shroomish obviously expected it and easily avoided. However, Torchic, busy fighting Pidgey, didn't notice as it was hit with the super effective attack. So what now lovebirds- I- I mean trainers? You Saya Level 5(Shred) 20/35 95%Katsu Level 5(---) 35/35 100%Trainer Foe Little Girl 1(vs Saya) Level 5(---) 28/35 92%Little Girl 2(vs Katsu) Level 5(---) 26/35 97%((Also, a heads up, if you didn't know, only one of you needs to post in the RRT. Saya's face split into a huge grin as Shred looked away, avoiding the Sand Attack. "That-a boy, Shred!" she encouraged the Torchic, jutting a fist in the air. Some of the lessons her brother had given her about Pokemon Battles back when he was still around had informed her of moves such as Sand Attack. These attacks didn't do any damage, but they did a number on the victim's eyes, making their chances of actually hitting with an attack plummet. They were things to be wary of, most definitely. Shred's attack did a fair amount of damage to the Pidgey, she was glad to see, and the grin on her face only broadened with excitement. She was going to win her first Pokemon battle all on her own, she was sure of it! But then, seemingly out of no where, a gush of bubbles struck Shred, causing the little creature a large amount of damage. Saya's face fell, and she grit her teeth angrily, her pupils dilating as they set on her human companion. "WILL YOU KEEP THE ATTACKS AIMED AT YOU TO YOURSELF?!" she roared, her eyes flickering back over to Shred, who was staggering back up to a standing position. "THAT REALLY FRICKIN' HURT HIM!" She turned back to her own battle, scowling at the Pidgey and the little girl who trained it. "Shred!" she called, making sure the Pokemon's heart was still in the fight. The Pokemon shook out its feathers quickly, before looking up, another determined expression on its face. "Scatch that Pidgey up again, Shred! You can do it!" she ordered, pointing forward as the Torchic took off, once again bearing its talons in preparation. ((Edit: Sorry about that double post in the Ref Request threads, it won't happen again :D)) Edited by Saya Lenal, Feb 21 2010, 10:32 PM.

Katsu nodded affirmatively at the little grass pokemon as it used the nature-like powers at its disposal to siphon away a portion of the Corphish's health. The attack would have recovered the Shroomish's health, he knew, if it wasn't already completely healed. This was their first battle together, after all. "Alright, Shroomish! Nice job there!" he called, before the water pokemon decided that it wasn't exactly pleased with what had transpired, and shot forth a wide spread of bubbles. His Shroomish, having already seen the attack coming, managed to avoid it, the little creature's body dodging around the bubbles as if it were no big deal. However, the bubbles managed to hit Shred, Saya's Torchic, which caused a fair amount of damage to the fire-based creature. "Well that must've-" he began, when Saya turned, practically exploding on him. 'Geez. She really gets into her pokemon battles,' he thought, feeling a drop of sweat move down the side of his face. "Er...sorry about that..." he apologized, then looked down at the Shroomish, which looked back up at him, giving him a look that told him it wasn't its fault that the Torchic had gotten hit. "Alright, Shroomish. Let's try this way. Go up and get into that...uh...lobster thing's face with a Tackle. If you take any damage, just counter it with that Absorb move. Try to keep the aggro off of Shred, you feel me?" he asked, hoping that the Shroomish would be able to keep the Corphish from doing any more damage to her Torchic. He didn't want her screaming at him again, so he figured that not doing that which had irritated her would keep her in a pleasant mood. He hoped. |

In My Little White Room Again
|
How lovely! It’s not every day that the first battle of a trainer’s career is shared by two people at once, not to mention that these two folks were complete strangers to each other. But anyways, let’s move on to how round two of your first battle was coming around…. Beth and Suki looked at the two of you giddily, giant smirks expanding across their faces. They seemed very pleased with how this battle was turning out, despite the fact that it was only actually getting started…seems like the kiddies are getting a little cocky, are they not? Well anyways, with arrogance foaming from their mouths, they began to taunt and mock the two of you. “This lady,” Beth began, pretending to whisper to her friend when in actuality her words weren’t covert in the least sence, “she’s so noisy. Just listen to her; she can’t keep her stupid mouth shut. I don’t know why she has to be yelling at that man, he didn’t do anything wrong!” Suki covered her mouth with her hand to silence the massive wave of giggles that were erupting from her throat. “Ya!” she began “If she were smart she would know that the bubble move can’t be contained to one Pokemon on the opposing side,” damn these kids are starting to act like smart asses, “but it actually hits BOTH of the opponents!” Ouch. These tykes are starting to make fun of your intelligence, Saya. But don’t fear, for now they moved their sights onto Katsu, and opened their mouths to allow their hateful and demeaning words to spill out. “But what’s worse,” said Beth, “is this man! He just thinks he’s cool. I bet you he wants to impress the loud lady, right?” Suki folded her hands together, and made a kissy face to the two of you while she tauntingly shouted “Kissy kissy goo~!” Beth burst out into laughter, arms clamped around her stomach as if she were in pain. Their laughter soon died down, and the two began to focus more on the battle itself – but with a little giggle or two escaping every now and then. Shred went into action immediately, his eyes full of fury, and ready to strike down the opposing bird. The chick like creature jumped into the air before the Pidgey, and scraped at it with his razor sharp talons. Pidgey squawked in pain, and listened for her mistress’ commands. “GO, Pidgey! Make that stupid chicken back away with another Sand attack! Then Tackle!” Claws clamping onto the earthy soil, the Pidgey kicked up dirt and sand and cast it off towards Shred. Luckily though, Shred managed to dodge the attack yet AGAIN by using the same maneuver, but unfortunately since he turned his body away to avoid the attack he was left open to the Pidgey’s full blown Tackle. Meanwhile, Shroomish was beginning to attack his opponent. The stubby plant-like creature waddled over to Corphish, reading himself to lunge at it with his own Tackle. Then, from above the ruckus of Saya and Suki’s battle, you heard Beth call out: “Corphish, use Harden. And then use Strike!” The lobster-like creature brought his limbs close together, and a metallically like film seemed to glisten over his callous shell. Shroomish then threw himself into the Corphish with a Tackle, dealing some damage, but was smacked over the head by the Corphish’s claw. Slightly stunned by the smack on the skull, Shroomish slowly backed away from his opponent – a little dazed. He tried his best to focus and fire another Absorb at his water type opponent, but it just wasn’t going to work out this round, unfortunately. Well I have to say! The two of you are doing just fine being that this is your first battle. But nevertheless, things may change, and I just have to ask – what will you do next?

The young man blinked as the two girls began to harass him and Saya, wondering where the two young girls had learned to talk like that. He knew that he hadn't ever acted like these two when he was their age. He'd been a good, obedient child, and these two were nothing but pure evil, as far as he was concerned. What was wrong with the youth of today? These kids were nothing more than loud-mouthed brats who were speaking their minds without any thought to what the implications of their words were. He felt the urge to return fire with a few words of his own, but he realized that speaking to the children in vulgar terms was likely to get him in trouble with someone, if not Saya, and from her small explosion earlier, he had no reason to get on her bad side. But he couldn't just let those kids get away with what they were saying. They weren't just mocking Saya, they were mocking him too. Of course he didn't just think he was cool. He was cool, damnit! "Oh I see how it is. You happen to get a lucky shot off and suddenly you're the best thing since sliced bread? Please, kids. I've met five year olds with more class and humor than anything you can put out. C'mon Saya, let's stop toying with these two and show them exactly what it means to battle for real!" he called, and though it was nothing more than a facade of sheer bravado, he was hoping that it would help to inspire Saya into thinking that he wasn't as big of a failure as he seemed to be. "What's say we take out that Corphish first, together?" he spoke, before he looked to his Shroomish, which was looking a little out of it, but he had confidence that the little guy would be able to come through for him. "Shroomish, set your sights on that Corphish and Absorb every little piece of life you can out of him. His armor shouldn't really protect against that because it's not a physical attack!" he called out. Katsu really didn't know if it worked like that or not, but it made perfect sense to him. The fire attacks and water attacks weren't really hitting an enemy physically, so its defense shouldn't technically matter. And Absorb seemed to follow in that same vein, really. Now he just hoped that Saya would catch onto his plan. That Pidgey just had tackle and sand attack, so if they took out the threat first, they'd have an easy time of taking down the little flying pokemon. It was only able to hit one of them at a time, and if he could get Shroomish up close and personal with the bird, it'd take some of the heat off of Shred for a bit, which would help them both out. That is, of course, assuming Saya didn't completely flip out on the girls and go ballistic on them with her bare hands...which he didn't completely rule out. He needed to get to know her a little better before he started to really put the moves on her... Short Version

A torrent of curses came from Saya's mouth, all of them directed at the children as she watched Shred stagger back up to his feet, having taken quite a bit of damage. He was standing on what could be his last legs, now, and Saya could feel frustration welling within her. Her very first Pokemon battle, and she was going to lose? Perhaps she wasn't cut out for this after all. Perhaps she should just go home with her tail between her legs and live the rest of her life maybe as a research assistant, or a grocery store keep, or something... ...no. No, she wasn't going to give up like that. Determination in her eyes, she listened to Katsu's words, her fists tightening. Going after the Corphish would eliminate the need to worry about the Bubble attack hitting Shred again and potentially putting him out for good. Not to mention it would free up twice the amount of attacks on the Pidgey. "ALRIGHT!" she roared, stomping one foot. Her Torchic's eyes narrowed, ready for his new bout of commands. "Shred, give them a fierce Growl! Show 'em what you're made of, and then slice that Corphish to pieces with Scratch!" Torchic let out a small sound as it moved forward to perform said actions. Saya watched, before her eyes flickered over to Katsu and the Shroomish, wondering just how well they would fair. If that Corphish hit Shred with another attack, it could possibly end this fight in a loss...though Shroomish would probably be able to pull through, what with his ability to sap the other Pokemon's life force. She glowered a little, watching her Torchic with worry. She didn't have any potions, and she had no idea where the nearest Poke Center was; if he fell...she didn't know what she'd do... (EDIT: Made a your/you're error, I'm so ashamed...) Edited by Saya Lenal, Feb 24 2010, 07:12 PM.

These two girls were just plain nasty! Clearly they had some self esteem issues that they projected by belittling others. They were the kids who grew up to be those people who drive while putting on lipstick or something. You shouldn't let those kind of people get to you. They're just dumb little poop heads, and you two are lovely intelligent people. Or, if it makes you feel better you can crack wise about their mommas. It's entirely up to you. Disregarding the fact that these two were poop heads, they were actually pretty competent battlers. Or at least they seemed to be. Perhaps by angering you they are allowing you to slip up a bit and act recklessly. Maybe you should try to anger them in the same ways they anger you, maybe then they'll get sloppy. For now, however, they did seem to hold a bit of an advantage. Shred gave an angry Growl, which frightened both Pidgey and Corphish, lowering both of their attack strengths. "Ignore that little chicken, Pidgey, and beat his brains out with a Tackle!" The bird shook her head and went in for a Tackle. Shred reacted instinctively and swiped at the bird with his claws. Both of the Pokemon took damage, and Pidgey flew away for a moment to collect her thoughts and strategize. Meanwhile, Corphish had been busy with Shroomish. The little mushroom thing shot out an Absorb right at the crap Pokemon. The attack hit dead on, dealing quite some damage. "It's okay Corphish, just shoot out a bunch of Bubbles! As many as you can!" Corphish opened his mouth and sprayed out a stream of Bubbles. The bubbles slowly drifted over to Shred, who was too busy with Pidgey to notice the impending watery death. Shroomish acted quickly to save his friend. He waddled over as fast as he could to block the soapy doom from hitting his new friend. He stood in the way between Shred and the Bubble attack. He took hit after hit, but it didn't stop him. He shot out a second Absorb which tore through the bubbles. When the Abrorb hit Corphish, Shred used the path through the bubbles it made to rush in and Scratch up a storm. He hit Corphish hard, then retreated away from the floating balls of water. Shroomish blasted a third Absorb straight at the somewhat dazed Corphish. The attack was enough to knock the Corphish out. He just couldn't take the barrage. Working together like that looked to yield great results. Beth (or Suki, as it as becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between the two) gasped and returned her fainted Corphish to his Pokeball. "YOU BIG MEANIES!" If only she could hear the irony in her own words. Well, looks like your biggest threat has been taken out. All you need to do is focus on Pidgey. Where was that bird anyway? Just then, Pidgey flew in out of nowhere. She slammed Shred hard, knocking him into the remaining bubbles floating about. Shred quickly ran out of the bubbles of death and back into the battlefield. Looks like Shred didn't have much strength left. Luckily, you could now team up to defeat this annoying bird. Show these girls who's boss! Team Awesome Team Poop Head

Katsu watched the proceedings of the prior commands with something of an amazed expression. Everything that they had planned to do had managed to fall so perfectly into place he couldn't have planned it better if it were scripted. The Torchic colliding with the Pidgey, the two bird Pokemon battling one anther fiercely, if only for a moment. The brief tussle was settled with the Pidgey flying away, a whirl of feathers left behind in her wake, leaving the Torchic standing triumphantly, if a little winded. "Nice job, Shred!" Katsu called, which he almost found strange for a moment as he cheered on his partner's Pokemon. He was really getting into this, he realized. But as he drifted his eyes over to the other fight, the one where his own Pokemon was taking part in, he saw the little creature valiantly defending his ally from the stream of bubbles, which would've certainly done more damage, perhaps even enough to send the little fiery chicken into a state of unconsciousness. "Good blocking, Shroomish!" he called out, giving a few claps to let the creature know that it too had done a job deserving of praise. He had a sudden, short daydream of himself standing behind the fence at a baseball game, cheering on his team of Pokemon as they played a game with the opponents, being these two snotty little girls. He glanced down at the Shroomish, who was busy firing a third Absorb at the Corphish, knocking out the crab Pokemon, and leaving the two victors to celebrate. He wondered what the Shroomish evolved into, as he realized that the Pokemon didn't have a nickname. Saya had named her Torchic Shred, which seemed to be a fairly fitting name, considering that it was putting those talons to pretty good use. He would have to ponder a name for his Pokemon, that was for certain. "That's a good job there, Shroomish!" he called out as the Corphish was returned, leaving the battle to be a two-on-one. "What's the matter, girl? If we're such bad Pokemon trainers, then why are we kicking your tail, eh?" he asked, but felt that he shouldn't press the topic too much more. A little mocking was good for their character, but too much might just make them run home crying, and Katsu didn't want to have that on his conscience. He turned to the remaining threat, pointing at the Pidgey. "Shroomish! Go for an Absorb to shaken the Pidgey's concentration and ram it with a full-force Tackle!" he called out. "But if you see danger coming towards Shred, see if you can't intercept it, eh?" he added on, seeing how winded the Torchic looked. Short Version

"YEEEAH!" Saya cheered for the Shroomish, her face splitting into a grin. "Good job, Shroomish! Thanks so much!" Shred gave a small 'Tor!' to his Pokemon friend for his blocking, appreciating the gesture. "That's what you get, you little jerk!" Saya cackled, a huge grin spreading on her face as her young opponent called her Corphish back into its Poke Ball. "Maybe if you weren't such a huge jerk your Pokemon would listen to you more and be a better fighter!" She stuck out her tongue at the other girl before turning back to the fight, watching as Shred and Shroomish gazed at the Pidgey wearily, readying themselves for another fight. "You're doing good, Shred!" she cheered affectionately for her Pokemon, wanting to reassure him. The poor thing was tuckered out, she could tell...but he was standing up bravely, facing off with the Pidgey and preparing himself for the next exchange in blows. Pointing forward, Saya smirked. "Okay! Shred, give 'em another fierce Growl and then Scratch that Pidgey to bits! Show 'em what your made of! You can do this, I know you can!" Her eyes flickered to the opponents briefly before glancing in Katsu's general direction, hoping that they would be able to really pull through this battle. She would have to speak to him about returning to Alternia Island after this encounter; Shred could really use a break. "C'mon Shred, c'mon Shroomish! You guys can do it!" |

Wow. Just wow. I really can't even fathom how these two girls were raised. I mean, I can understand not wanting to lose and all, but they're just downright cruel. I mean, don't you two think so too? However, they are probably pretty good to have as your opponents in your first battle, if you assume that getting annoyed and wanting to kick their little behinds as fuel for making you battle more seriously. That's how I'd think about it, anyway. Maybe? I guess it would entirely depend on whatever situation I was - oh, right. You guys are expecting the rest of the ref, aren't you? Right! The show proceeds! To open up what could be the final scene in this act, Shred hopped forward a bit and let loose a fierce - if not rather cute, too, if you think about it - Growl attack. The desired effect was achieved, as the enemy Pidgey hesitated for a few seconds as her attack was lowered by yet another stage. That brief interlude did not go unnoticed by Shroomish, who took this opportunity to follow the first of her commands by unleashing a powerful Absorb. The Pidgey, who had just begun to get into the air, was knocked back down to the ground due to the sheer force of the impact. It must have been a critical hit! Granted, the grass type move still wasn't very effective against the flying type. But hey, more damage is always good, right? Devastated, the girl shrieked out in dismay with how the battle was going. How could they, the self-proclaimed stars of this battle, be losing?! Starting to grow less and less rational, she just yelled at her Pidgey to tackle the small, idiotic-looking chicken. Wait, what? Surely she wasn't mocking Shred, was she? Ooh, would you just stand there and take that? Of course you wouldn't! Although, I'm speaking more of your Pokémon's actions here with this ref, so let's focus on what they're doing, okay? Keeping in mind his trainer's orders about defending Shred, your Shroomish waddled over to his side, and then interceppted the Pidgey with a full force tackle of his own, though he did take a small bit of damage during the process. But wait, there's more to this little ingenious combination! The tackle knocked the Pidgey off course, but still to a point where Shred was in the perfect position to place the final strike with his Scratch attack. The curtains on this ref haven't quited closed yet, much to your disappointment and/or joy. The young girl who was the the Pidgey's trainer, since I can't seem to recall any of their names, returned her partner. Then, she broke out crying. Crying. Now, I don't know about you, but that's always a sad scene, unless of course it's a very bratty child doing it to get attention. These seemed like genuine tears, though... Without saying another word, she ran off to who knows where. Home, possibly? The other little girl, however, did something completely unexpected and uncharacteristic from what we've witnessed so far. She walked forward and gave Saya a potion, since Shred was in such a weakened state. She didn't smile, nor say anything mean or hateful. Just walked over, handed it to you, and then scurried off after her friend. Confusing, much? As you were left scratching your heads in thought, metaphorically of course, it took a minute for the full effect of your victory to reach the two of you. You had won your first battle! I bet you two were feeling rather good about yourselves about it too, am I right? Now, while you decide what exactly you two should do now, I think I'll scurry off myself. To your respective profiles to update all the neat benefits you guys just got! So, the first act in each of your stories has come to a close. What will you do now? Victors Rude Failures
