I LOVE Avatar...The Last Airbender, yo.
HEELLLOOO! And welcome to Alternia! Finally, this is your time to shine. A life without drama and conflict was just what the doctor ordered. And you picked a rather nice day to start your journey! The sky was a beautiful blue with a few clouds rolling through. The wind blew rather harshly, being the beginning of the fall season. The trees surrounding the area were changing immensely. People and Pokemon really seemed to enjoy this time of year, it was the most calm and peaceful part.

The people of Millenia Town were fairly busy. There were large amounts of people walking in and out of buildings, rushing from place to place. It seemed that these people haven't gotten the chance to take a breather and enjoy life, they're all too busy working. Everyone was bundled up in warm sweaters and scarves of all colors. A group of children were playing in piles of leaves, hiding and jumping into them. They played with each other as well as their fellow Pokemon.

You continued to walk along the sidewalk on the streets of Millenia. You walked as if you ruled the world, but the people in your surroundings frankly didn't seem to care. As you continued to walk, you stopped upon feeling something under your foot. What you stepped on turned out to be the tail of a wild Meowth. The Meowth rubbed its tail and stared at you angrily. It turned around fiercely and growled. Clearly it wanted to give you a serious butt whooping. So now that you're on your own, you'll have to learn to make decisions. You can choose to battle this Meowth, maybe gain a new member for your team. Or you can attempt to run away, but chances are you won't escape. But hey, whatever you feel.

Beauty is a word with one definition, but as many interpretations as there are beings that can appreciate it. It extends beyond what is seen and sensed, and often times beyond understanding. It simply is. Whatever the meaning of the word and regardless of whoever holds it dear, there was certainly a beauty in the day ahead. With the foliage of the trees changing and orange leaves contrasting and complimenting the blue of the sky and ocean, the day ‘as is’ wasn’t entirely shabby either. The wind was a tad sharper than Wes liked, but the proper selection of layered clothing and already excess consumption of hot chocolate had fixed that up nicely. The free life was the good life, it seemed, and Wes had no regrets of leaving the bad life behind. Judging by the hustle and bustle of the well-sweatered citizens of Millenia, they could use a little bit of his ignorantly optimistic sense of freedom.

Cats have a tendency to get underfoot. Freky bipedal cats weren’t all that different, it seemed. Wes’ boot came down on the poor creature’s tail, letting out a shrill ‘yowlp’ that managed to ruin an otherwise perfect moment. Wes looked down in surprise, which changed to disbelief, which then changed to a deeply apologetic wide-eyed stare.

“OhwowI’msosorry” Wes spewed in word vomit, “are you-“

A growl broke the concerned dialogue. No; it seemed it wasn’t, in fact, ‘okay’. It was quite clear that the Feline wouldn’t be calmed by words alone. But he tried anyway.

“I’m really sorry. Truly.” He looked wide-eyed at the Meowth, but it was to no avail. Puppy dog eyes don’t work too well on cats, it seems. Wesley backed away, slowly reaching into his pocket for his pokeball while making no sudden movements. He tossed down the pokeball, shouting “Barrier!” as the light materialized into the goofy-looking pink thing that was his companion. He paused. “And, confusion!” he finally added, the Mime Jr. already making a satire out of the Meowth’s angry body language.

Let's be honest. Sometimes, honesty really is the best policy. And sometimes just being nice has benefits in itself. You, a feeble human with no powers comparable to that of a Pokemon, could never understand the can of worms you had just inadvertently torn asunder with your ... your sheer idiocy! Your absent-mindedness! Your ... freaking huge foot! As it turned out, this Meowth happened to be a tsundere running rather late. What, you thought he was just some random stray? Yeah right, dude. Pokemon have lives too. As a matter of fact, if things had gone as planned today, he WOULD be on a date with a really hot Glameow - a date that took weeks of careful flattery to procure - but no. You had pretty much ensured the wrath of a very haughty female in a few hours - assuming, of course, that you had no intention of adding him to your roster.

"Of course," he muttered in his native tongue, "of course. Today of all days ... Seriously!?" The meowth's gaze fell upon his tail, which was now soiled from the traces of dirt on your shoe. The fur was sticking up oddly. "Jackass, do you have any idea how long it takes a cat like me to get ready in the morning? Apologies don't work like soap, you know!?" As he advanced toward this bumbling human, a Mime Jr. suddenly materialized, happy to imitate the posture of the feline before him. Well, at least it wasn't a Water-type, but still, way to add insult to injury. Literally. He stalked forward, gritting his teeth.

"Listen here, I don't take kindly to threa-- ack! What the?" He had walked straight forward into the Barrier your Pokemon had conjured. After a second of pawing the obstruction, he understood what had taken place. "Oh, real clever. No, that's absolutely fabulous. This is why I don't like trainer's pets; you all think you're so much beGYAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Confusion had landed a solid blow to the Meowth's cranium, effectively scrambling his thought processes for the next few seconds. He tottered left and right for a few moments, then recovered both his balance and his train of thought. Thankfully for the Meowth, you had simply ordered the attacks, rather than planning out some sort of elaborate strategy, or he might not have a shot at giving you the beatdown you clearly needed.

"I'm warning you, pal, you're messing with the wrong Pokemon. Really." When this didn't seem to register, the Meowth's face fell slightly. Damn it. "You leave me no choice then! Prepare yourself!" The Meowth squared his stance, then bolted forward, leapt over the top of the square-shaped energy wall, and used his inertia (and claws) to dig into the little mime's flesh in a Scratch attack. The extra energy he expended in evading that psychic energy wall reduced the effectiveness of the blow, but it was retaliation nonetheless, so he looked moderately satisfied. "You think you're so hot? I'm not afraid of you! Asshole!" This was translated as a fierce Growl to human ears. Not that lowering the Mime Jr.'s attack would be that useful, but for a Pokemon with only two attacks to his name, it would have to do. If you could dig up a few strategies out of that feeble human brain, though, he was pretty much toast.

Mime Jr.s are adorable, but not necessarily the sharpest tools in the shed, proving that the presence of psychic powers don't mean that one has an IQ above a jar of mayonnaise. This particular frilly pink thing didn't care much for wordiness, what with being a mime and everything, and proceeded to mindblast the hell out of the Meowth despite its melodramatic ramblings. This was alright by Wes, who didn't much care for hearing the cat growl, hiss and stomp like a child who got the wrong toy in its happy meal. Even so, the cat had managed to land a scratch and a growl on Mime Jr., at least proving that its limited arsenal was a somewhat effective one. Mime Jr's attack was seemingly lowered by the growl, an attack that was normally ineffective against its 'Soundproof' ability, but Wesley decided to use this to his advantage.

Mime Jr., in the meanwhile, hid its fear behind an imitation of the angry Meowth. His stance and body language matched the feline's in every respect, perhaps even surpassing it with the addition of the cocksure raise of an eyebrow. If anything was to be taken from this, it was to never try to out-melodrama an actor, particularly not even a frilly pink one. They have the least to lose.

Just then, idea wandered into Wes's head, decided it liked the view and stayed long enough to grow into a fully-fledged plan. Wes, now imitating his pokemon's imitation of the meowth, donned a fierce stance, and waved his arms about as if he was an extra in a bad kung fu movie.

"Mime Jr!", he shouted unnecessarily, striking a pose. "Copycat the Meowth's growl, tickle it into submission while its defenses are down, then blast it with a confusion!" With his dialogue complete, the pose changed.

Wesley suspected he was getting a handle on all this battling stuff.

Mime Jr. suspected it was lunchtime.

Derping... All Day, Every Day!

Getting down to business... You ordered the Mime pokemon to use Copycat, which was awfully like Mimic, which was needed to learn for Mime Jr. to evolve. Just throwing it out there. Giving a little dance step, the Mime Jr. let out it's own version of Growl. It sounded.. weak, coming from a energetic and overjoyed pink pokemon. No matter the color, and strangeness, the Growl seemingly worked as Meowth stumbled backwards due to the fact it had to accept it's attack was lowered. It didn't help the feline as your frilly pink pokemon blasted it with another Confusion. Meowth was lightly lifted from the ground as images once again flooded it's mind.

"Ugh! You are going to pay!" It muttered, but only Mime Jr. could understand. After the Meowth was released, he fell on the ground. Cat's are rumored to always land on all fours, but this Meowth was reduced to nothing as it fell quickly to the ground, and laid on it's side. Struggling to get up, the Meowth cursed under it's breath. Using more energy then it seemed worth it, the feline moved it's way over, evaded any possible barrier and managed to get a Strike in. Before returning, it got the Mime Jr. again.

Alright, so Mime Jr. definitely seemed to have the advantage right now. If you were to add it into your party, that time was coming soon. One or two more attacks should do perfectly, and you can be on your way once more.

[Necro'd]

Mime Jr's copycat succeeded. The pink clown spewed a pitiful, nasally growl that sounded more like he caught himself in the middle of a sneeze than any sort of snarl. Even so, the Meowth was caught off-guard by the attack and its strength was lowered, meaning that the plan was a success. The utterly terrible growl was just going to have to be one of those bits he'd leave out of casual conversation. For now it seemed as if he had the upper hand, with the statistics of the battle swaying to his favor, but wild pokemon are notoriously unpredictable; angry felines perhaps doubly so.

Wesley's next move was terribly simple. He didn't want to catch the Meowth so much as he wanted it to stop bothering him and leave his existance alone and be sassy somewhere else. With that seeming increasingly unlikely with each passing moment, his only real option was to try and beat the snot out of it. He had already set up a barrier, increasing his defenses, and reduced the opponent's attack. All that was really left was to try and slaughter it before the Meowth did the same to him.

Mime Jr, not all that bothered by being in a life or death situation, stuck its arms out and swayed side-to-side like a drunkard trying desperately to walk in a straight line. It still suspected it was hungry, and was more put off by that than the reddening claw marks on its face. Perhaps it was a slowpoke in a past life?

Regardless.

"Mime Jr!" Wesley yelled again, once again taking a rather dramatic stance that did nothing for any possible rumors about his sexuality. "Duck behind the barrier and use a confusion attack before it can come close! Thennnnn once more!"

The Meowth's bad fur day wasn't going to be nearly remarkable as the headache it was about to have, whether by the forceful infusion of psychic energy into its brain, or merely by having to look at Mime Jr's stupid face for another several minutes.

Well wasn't this all too easy? Times have changed and battles are a bit more difficult than that now~ While your Mime Jr. had successfully throw out his first confusion attack, causing the young meowth to cry out in pain. Instead of trying to fight back, it looked as though he was too weak to continue battling... Oh, and it looked like Mime Jr's confusion actually succeeded in confusing the poor feline as he rolled around like a kitten with a yarn ball. When she shot off a second confusion attack, it all seemed to be going swell until a larger meowth entered the picture and blocked the attack from hitting the smaller one. "Bi-big brother!" The injured meowth cried out, looking up to the larger meowth standing before him. Trying to stand up, he only injured himself as he landed on his claws and ended up scratching himself. He lay still for a few moments, but then once again tried to move. At least now he had managed to partially sit up straight without injuring himself further.

The 'big brother' meowth turned and looked down at his injured sibling, a fire growing in his eyes as he looked to you and your pokemon. The blow he had taken from Mime Jr's confusion to protect his sibling was decent, but he wasn't about to topple over like a rag doll just yet. Giving a shrill hissing-growl, he charged in at your precious Mime Jr. and took a rather nasty bite at her. His teeth grazed the length of her arm before he chomped down hard on her right hand. Your pokemon shrieked out as she took the hit, stumbling back a few feet when he released his grip. The larger meowth doubled back to his younger brother, taking a protective stance over him. He was ready to give his life to save his brother's.. and with the type advantage of his bite attack against your psychic type, this battle surely wasn't as easy as you first thought.

So, now your Mime Jr. was in a world of hurting and a stronger meowth had entered the fight. The smaller meowth looked ripe for the picking though; You could probably toss a pokeball and catch him, if you wanted.

The Meowth shrieked as psychic energy flooded into its brain, invading and pummeling every convolution of its beloved pinkish grey matter. Wesley couldn't help but feel somewhat bad for the critter; up until it had been stepped on, it was probably just an average lazy day in the sun. And even then, it was a cat's nature to be underfoot, and all things considered he could have been a little bit more wary about things scurrying about. He was supposed to be a pokemon trainer, after all, and it was in the job description to pay attention to the whereabouts of the creatures he was supposed to beat into submission and enslave. For now, the Meowth was rolling about in a game of 'stop hitting yourself' with moderately depressing overtones, and didn't pose much of a threat. At least, not directly. Another Meowth jumped into the fray, likely a friend or relative of the fallen one, and absorbed what would have been the finishing blow. It wasn't entirely fair, but such was to be expected from a wild encounter. What was a game to him was survival to them, and it was his own problem if he couldn't roll with the punches. After attacking Mime Jr with a very solid bite attack, the larger meowth retreated and started to protect its fallen friend.

The odds of Mime Jr. winning by itself were slim to none at this point. The cat was going to be far more dextrous than some teetering buffoon, and the next attack or two was going to be its last, even with a barrier up and Mime Jr's filter ability. All together, it just wasn't looking all that great. The best strategy at that point would be to cut his losses and retreat, while grabbing whatever he could on his way out. Wesley came to the conclusion that it wouldn't hurt to have the meowth by his side for , if only to make amends for the damage done to its tail, but also suspected the larger meowth would null attempts to catch it without a proper distraction.

That said, Wesley pulled a pokeball from his pocket and with a barely audible 'click', restored it to full size. He lobbed the ball at the injured Meowth, all while yelling "CONFUSIOOOOON" and assuming another melodramatic stance. The larger Meowth would absorb the confusion attack and be too distracted in the meanwhile to protect the smaller one from the Pokeball, assuming all went according to plan. Afterward, he had every intention to recall his frilly pink monstrosity, run the heck away from the fray and to the Pokemon center he had passed earlier in the day.

So you were deciding to cut your losses and run. You tossed the Pokeball towards the Meowth on the ground, shouting at the same time. Mime Jr. followed your orders and used another Confusion attack on the bigger Meowth. The Mewoth grabbed its head in pain and rolled around on the floor. The Pokeball landed next to the injured Meowth and opened in a burst of red light. The Meowth disappeared inside the ball which rattled a couple of times before coming to a rest. The Meowth successfully caught you rushed forward and scooped the Pokeball up. You turned to recall Mime Jr. but before you could the elder Meowth moved.

Seeing his little brother captured he decided to take his vengeance out on Mime Jr. He rushed towards the pink little man and bit into him. The attack caused Mime Jr. to collapse on the floor where Meowth delivered another Bite attack. This was the last straw for your Pokemon and she promptly fainted. Meowth, looking exceptionally pleased with itself, ran off into an alleyway in search of new prey. Seems he had forgotten his little brother already, or just knew he could do no more for him. You recalled Mime Jr. and rushed off in search off the Pokemon Center.

You ran through the streets of Millenia, turning this way and that, and finally burst out of an alleyway in front of the center. Rushing inside you quickly handed over both of the Pokeballs for healing. Nurse Joy flashed you a smile and handed the two balls to a Blissey. Blissey took them with great care and rushed off into the back of the center.

"This will only take a few minutes and your Pokemon will be as good as new. If you'd like to take a seat while you wait they'll be back shortly." Nurse Joy gestured to a room off to the side where you could see a couple of trainers waiting. You walked over to the room and took in the trainers there. There was a little boy sat in a corner, sobbing quietly to himself. Every so often he would glance quickly up at the door to check if anything was coming. Whatever he was waiting for it probably wasn't good. Standing near to a wall was an elderly gentleman, puffing on a pipe. He seemed to be staring intently at the wall until you realized it was the noticeboard. He finished what he had been reading, chuckled to himself, and sat down.

Nurse Joy came into the room through the door and looked around the room. The little boy looked up expectantly, fresh tears streaming down his face, but his head dropped when he saw she was alone. The old man also looked quickly her way, then returned to puffing silently on his pipe. Nurse Joy spied you and quickly walked over.

"Here are your Pokemon, they're as good as new. We hope to see you again." She handed you the two Pokeballs and headed back to the front desk. Well now you were free again. You could find out what these two were doing here or head off into Millenia again. Only you could decide....

The ball hit the younger meowh and encased it in a prison of bright red light that scooped the critter into the ball as smoothl as a well-planned drive by kidnapping. As the ball fell to the ground, so did the larger Meowth after having taken the full force of Mime Jr's last confusion attack, but unlike the ball, the move didn't seal its fate. The Meowth took to its feet, then lunged at the unsuspecting clown creature, bypassing the barrier and clamping its teeth down on its rather squishy face. Then, apparently somewhat pleased with its exacting of revenge, Inigo Montoya style, it dashed off into a darkened alley, never to be seen again.

Aaaaaaalllrighty then.

"Well, you did great Mime Jr. Sorry about the face bitey thing", Wesley apologized as he returned his ally to its ball. He walked over and grabbed the newly encapsuled mowth as well, before running awkwardly through Millenia and into a pokemon center. The nurse allowed him to drop his pokemon off, then directed him to a waiting room with some uncharacterstic yet realistic melancholy undertones. A short and rather bland montage to the tune of shoes scuffling in and out the room later, he retrieved his fully healed pokemon and walked out into Millenia once again. He didn't really know what to do with himself from there. Perhaps a quick wander into the outskirts of the forest?

It would have to do.

He walked to...well, whatever direction, really, since the forest was notably surrounding the town on all sides, like a moat of trees. Wesley wasn't entirely sure why someone would decide to build a town in the middle of the forest, but it seemed to work, so why knock it? When at the forest, all that was left to do was scout for some sort of critter to ruthlessly assault and possibly enslave. For that was indeed the way of the Pokemon trainer.

{Just a note that you're in Millenia Town, the forest is around Nogou so I pointed you towards there}

::Millenia Town
.:Edge of Route 4

You walked out of the Pokemon Center and towards the outskirts of the city. It took you quite a while as Millenia was massive. Eventually though the skyscrapers gave way to smaller buildings and eventually you were on the outskirts of the town. You'd walked for ages and were beginning to tire. The city truly was massive and the sun beating down didn't make it any less tiring. You'd made it know though and you started hunting around for some wild Pokemon to assault wickedly and capture into slavery.

Luck has it that this was the biggest Route in Alternia and Pokemon abounded a plenty. Even just a short way into the wilderness you could see numerous Pokemon running around. Flocks of Pidgey, Spearow and Taillow flew overhead. Rattata ran across in front of you and disappeared into the scrub either side of the path. Looking around the route had an eerie beauty to it, the sun casting flittering shadows. In the distance you could see a swamp and beyond that another short route ending in the forest.

But back to the Pokemon, you were searching for a possible new team member and there were a couple of opportunities. To one side of the route a pair of Nidoran where rolling around in the leaves. They seemed perfectly blissful and unaware of you so would make pretty good first targets. A Hoppip floated along next to a Sunkern and were enjoying the cool breeze drifting along the route. Finally a pair Shinx burst out of the bushes behind you, entwined in one another in a playful wrestle.

Well with these three opportunities you had quite a choice...
