When the nurse offered him candy, Dai happily accepted and took a few pieces from the bowl... okay, it was a bit more than a few pieces. Dai was not the kind to decline free things, and was well versed in picking just enough stuff out to not look like a jerk, because people didn't like to watch jerks perform or give them cash for doing so. Dai smiled at the nurse heartily as she handed back Neptune's pokeball to him, "Thank you miss your hard work is appreciated!" His thanks was genuine. After all, he wasn't a complete ego case... As he turned to leave he took in the visitors of the pokecenter, he spotted the little girl staring at him intently with the cute little rattata in her arms. Dai smiled broadly as he saw her and quickly whooshed over to her, cape waving dramatically as it was designed to. Ignoring the father seated next to her, he crouched down a bit so he was face to face with her. "Hey, want to see a magic trick?" he asked her. His tone was not condescending and he didn't talk down to her like most would do, and he pulled out two little yellow foam balls. "Now these, balls are very special. They always come in pairs, and always stay in pairs, it's impossible to separate the two for long. Now you might not believe me, but I can use your help to demonstrate this," Dai began. This was a very simple trick, and not that flashy, but Dai liked it and it had been one of the first he learned so it was a bit special to him. "I am going to take this ball," Dai held up one of the two balls in between his pointer and middle fingers, "and put it in my left hand. This one I'm gonna give to you and you gotta hold on tight and not let it escape or the other one come in got it?" Dai slipped the first ball "into" his hand and then quickly gave the other "one" to the little girl, guiding her hand into a tight fist immediately. "Okay, make sure you hold it tight while I check to see if mine's still here," Dai said, feigning worry. He slowly opened his left hand and, the ball was gone! There was nothing sitting in his black glove as he uncurled his fingers. "Oh no! Looks like it escaped! Quick see if you kept it away from it's partner!" Dai said in an urgent voice like the world depended on this little girl keeping two foam balls away from eachother. She opened her hands and two little yellow balls popped into shape and bounced out of her hand. Dai grinned and picked up the balls showing them to her again in his own hand. "Tada," he said in a little voice as he lifted his hat a few inches off his head and wiggled his eyebrows at her. ((Fun fact: I can do this trick in real life :O Magic club ftw! Next mod can decide on the various reactions :3)) |

A magic trick was fun for all ages, and you sure seemed to know your stuff. From what I can tell, you actually placed both of the balls in the little girl’s hand, and then acted like you had separated them, or something like that. This is a pretty interesting trick, even though the dad of the little girl was not impressed. He didn’t like magic, he thought it was for conniving idiots who just wanted to fulfill their disgusting infatuation with little kids… This is what he thought, but his daughter, she was ecstatic. She was so young that she fell for the trick, squealing to her father in a high pitched screech that would have made a Misdreavus jealous. Looking at the father, you notice that he looked like he had a torn soul. You had probably met the adults like him, the ones who were so broken that they refused to accept the joy that magic brought to the children. Sighing for a moment, the father bent down to look his daughter in the face and congratulate her. Performing a couple more tricks, like the one with the two rings, the one with the never ending cloth, and getting a drink of water, you looked around the place again. There was a trainer with a Caterpie that looked like he would enjoy a battle, but you didn’t have to battle him. You could head out and travel somewhere, or perform more tricks… it’s your choice. |

"And one more trick for the little girl!" Dai announced with a flourish tossing his cape so it flared a little behind him. He removed his top hat smoothly showing her the bottom. "As you can see there is nothing in my hat! Buuuut..." Dai reached inside his hat, dropping the flower he was going to give the girl inside it. He made a show of fishing around in his hat, flashing his charming smile to the little girl. His long fingers wrapped once again around the stalk, "Aha! here we are!" he whipped his hand out fully intending to brandish a beautiful rose for the little girl. "Piiiiiip!" That was... pink but definitely not a rose... Dai stared at the wiggling pink pokemon, whose leaves he had apparently mistaken for the rose's stem and pulled out of his hat... How had that thing gotten in there in the first place? In it's mouth was the rose he had intended to give the girl. A moment of confusion passed over his face before he quickly regained his composure. "Yes this lovely pokemon... radish thing! Also my assistant..." he gave a bow, and quickly glanced over at the hoppip he had pulled out of his hat. "His name is Oliver..." he added quickly without thinking, as if assuring people that it had a name would make them not worry that it shouldn't have come out of the hat. It was chewing on the rose stem, a dopey smile on its face. Dai frowned and snatched it out of it's mouth, having to tug a bit as it seemed insistent on keeping its hold on it. Finally the rose was free and Dai smoothed his vest down with a little "humph" as if it had been wrinkled. He then bowed to the little girl and presented the rose to her. "And a beautiful rose for the little girl..." he winked at her, giving her the rose. It was cheap and plastic, but he couldn't afford fresh roses every time he wanted to do this trick now that he was traveling. He glanced over at the hollow father, giving him a smile as well. Now that his trick was over, and Neptune was all healed up, he felt a bit skittish to get out. Who knows who this pink thing belonged to, and he didn't like the idea of someone yelling pokemon thief at him. "And now the amazing pokemon magician Dai Edith will be on his way!" Dai announced to the pokecenter that most likely didn't care. "Hoooooppip" the hoppip announced, as if echoing Dai lazily. Dai looked down at him... he was laying on his back, legs and tail slowly working as if he was trying to walk. "Right... you just stay there..." Dai said, nudging the hoppip with his foot. It bounced away like a balloon not quite full enough with helium. Dai turned around and strode out of the pokecenter waving goodbye to his "fans." Dai turned to face Millenium town and- "ahhhhh~" with a happy sigh Oliver bumped into Dai's face. "AAAAAAH!" Dai practically crashed into the pokecenter doors as he jumped backwards, "HOW DID YOU DO THAT!?" "Oooooooooop" Oliver floated over to Dai's hat and clung to it. For a moment it looked like the air-headed hoppip would take the hat away with him, but he stuck, and the hat remained on Dai's head. Dai stood there stiffly for a moment wondering what the insane pokemon wanted with him... Nothing... apparently Oliver wanted nothing except to sigh happily and cling to Dai's hat... Hesitantly, he moved back out to the street. Well... he had not received the best welcome here; No one had even donated to him after the battle! Surely he needed to go to bigger and better places to get a bigger audience. Yes! That was what he would do! He needed to head out and to the city! Kijutsu City! If he remembered correctly route three was the way to go! Surely all matter of great things were in his path now! Dai strode through Millenium, head high and mighty as if he was certainly the legend he advertised himself to be. ((OOC note: Oliver was gained from the 2009 festival, this is just my IC reason/excuse for receiving him in the party. Assuming nothing happening on the way, I am heading to route three!)) Millenia--Docks Strolling through the city with a hoppip on your head didn't exactly make a picture-esque image of a proper young man. A few giggles here and there from women and children as well as odd glares from older men followed you as you walked. Hoppip lazily snoozed while holding a tight grip on the crown of your hat. He defiantly was not letting go. You quickly zipped through the crowd only to stop at one of the docks. Somehow you got turned around in the crowded walkway and ended up a few miles off course. Not that this was a big problem as you were on the very last set of docks that weren't even used anymore. Except for some strange old man hunched over the end of the dock with a fishing rod. You weren't really interested in what he was doing until he jumped out of his chair and pulled vigorously at his fishing rod. With a splash, the old man fell over as the force from his pull and lack of tension from what ever he was pulling against disappeared. He fell over and something gleamed in the sunlight. You wouldn't have time to look up as a Feebas comes down and slaps Hoppip and his hat perch right off your head flailing and splashing wildly on the docks. "Oi! Don't let it get away!" The old man called as he wiggled on his back like a turned over turtle trying to get up. Oliver seemed to get the message as he was trying to catch the flapping tail of the Feebas as it slapped against the dock's boards. That...or Oliver was chasing the tail as a toddler would chase a wagging dog's tail. Needless to say, your hat was finally free of the Hoppip's clutches. Only question is what do you do now. Help the old man and catch the fish. Could be good EXP for Oliver or Neptune. If you catch her for yourself she'd make a lovely mate for Neptune...or you can ignore the old man, flapping fish, and hat stealing hoppip and make a break for the gate to route three and pretend this never happened. Hmmm, perhaps Dai needed to purchase a map, he seemed to have gotten turned around and ended up near the docks... He stood there a moment, contemplating his route, when the old man in question pulled out the strange fish pokemon. Dai jumped a little at the sudden splashing and commotion, but quickly regained his composure before anyone could catch his momentary fear. "Aha! Of course I can catch this fish! I am a pokemon master after all!" Dai said, throwing his cape back dramatically with a flourish to display his pokeballs wrapped around his belt (never mind that most of them were empty.) He looked down at the pink hopip playfully rolling around with the fish. Dai still was not entirely sure that the hoppip was his... despite its rather sudden attachment to him. So, Dai reached to his pokeballs and drew one out. "Behold! Neptune King of the Ocean!" Dai said, putting on a show for the old man despite the man in question being flat on his back and not much of an audience. With a red flash Neptune was released into the air, landing on the dock with a thick thump and a graceful wiggle. His big white eye rolled over, spotting the female feebas, flaring his gills. "Alright Neptune! Show this other fish your prowess!"Dai said, pointing at the feebas dramatically. Neptune rolled his eyes a bit, used to Dai's rather nonsensical commands and so knew that his ignorant trainer had asked him to attack. Oliver on the other hand, was happily giggling and dreamily tumbling around with the fish. Neptune snapped his tail down, jumping into the air with a twist. Lvl 7 *is just splashing around with the feebas* lvl 6 *splash into the air for altitude and then GA belly flop* |

~Millenia~ ~Docks~ This.. was an odd scene to picture. On the opponent's side of the field, Feebas was raring to go- using ferocious Splash attacks! So it was sitting, there, doing nothing but flopping. On the trainer's side, your(?) Hoppip was locked in battle with the Feebas, countering with it's own- Splash. So it was sitting there flopping as well. And then your other Pokemon, the normally useless Magikarp, used it's own Splash attack! But instead of being useless, it used the Splash to get some air, then come crashing down onto the Feebas in a Belly Flop attack. Magikarp weighing just a bit more then Feebas, the Belly Flop ended up being D rank, though the extra air and force from the fall managed to turn the flop into a Critical Hit!... Though it still barely did anything. Then, after all of that RIVETING excitement... there was an awkward silence. And.. that was everything. The fisherman managed to right himself, and took a good look at his catch. "Awh hell, another Feebas... Useless damn thing, I need to find me a Shellder!" And with that, he stomped off, leaving you with the.. Whatever kind of fish Feebas is. Feebas and Magikarp both do have enormous potential after the right training, but... For the average person, they really DO amount to useless. This has got to be the WEIRDEST situation I've every reffed. All the battlers just.. Splashing. And I've seen and done some pretty WEIRD things over the years. I feel bad for you, though. This is going to take FOREVER to resolve... Maybe tutor Magikarp Tackle or something? Or have it throw itself like a shuriken, I've seen that done too. Battle... I think?

What?! WHAT?! Why was the man leaving?! Was he not entertained by Dai's amazing abilities as a pokemon trainer and the absolute grace of this battle?! He was doing this as a favor for the fisherman! He was the one who had asked him to stop the fiendish fish from getting away anyways! How ungrateful! But of course this made him wonder just a bit about why the fisherman would have been so bored as to leave. He was a great trainer! He had defeated one of the most terrifying pokemon ever with his graceful partner! Why had the fisherman lost interest!? Dai took a moment to think things over in his mind, he had done everything right just like the last battle that had attracted the large (and totally cheap-skate) crowd! Aha! That was his problem! He needed to change up his act! He had just been doing the same thing over and over. It was time to innovate! At the time he had closed up his magic act he had been switching things up almost every act in an effort to draw more people in. Pokemon training was no different clearly! Splashing about and then landing on enemies, while graceful, could certainly get dull. Ah it was time for that thing.... that thing he had been given by that... that person! Dai reached into one of the pockets inside his cape and pulled out his Poketech. Garrish thing, a clunky little watch that didn't go with his outfit at all. He carefully pressed the on button, watching as the little gold thing booted up. Oh look! It told him everything his beautiful fish could do! Splash, well clearly that was what Neptune did so beautifully on his own. He was a natural at it, a pure natural. He had won the first round of a pokemon contest with that splash. True fact. Or maybe it was that he would do that in the future... time stuff was confusing and of no interest to Dai. But that was not the point, the point was what could he do besides splash? "Hmmm, flail does not sound graceful. We're still establishing our image Neptune we should stick to simple things..." Neptune, was sitting absolutely still in a small puddle of water on the dock, staring at Dai with his visible eye. Neptune, while intelligent, eternally patient and rather adoring of his "Tackle is simple and will demonstrate your power as well as your grace. Neptune," Dai pointed at the feebas, "tackle the other fish!" ". . . karp." "What is the matter? Tackle him!" ". . ." Dai had no concept of levels. He had not even noticed that levels were required for the moves that his poketech had listed out, helpfully listed next to their names. A very helpful "15" had been listed next to tackle and Neptune was most resoundingly a less than helpful "not fifteen." Still, Dai was incredibly disappointed that his number one assistant did not immediately spring up to do his bidding. The show must go on! "Listen just tackle him! Tackle! You know, throw your body at the fish-" his poketech beeped at him. " . . . the feebas! Throw yourself at it!" Dai paused for a moment, actually thinking, before continuing, "Football people do it all the time. You.... bend at the waist and shove your shoulder into them!" "...Kar." "Well if you don't have a shoulder use something else hard. Go straight at it no wiggling or splashing that just makes it complicated. Remember elegance in simplicity that is what we are going for with this new performance!" Dai said flourishing his cape for... no reason at all other than that he'd finished his speech. Neptune rolled his eye back and forth a bit, frantically gasping mouth and gills the closest thing to a sigh he would ever manage to make. Right, tackle. Well, something hard was most likely his skull, the biggest and heaviest part of him with a nice "edge" along the middle of his body that would focus the force more efficiently. Like Dai said, it was simple. All he had to do was NOT splash. Neptune readied himself to attempt to throw himself at the Feebas, keeping his spine straight instead of wibbly wobbly. The magikarp liked a challange... Meanwhile, Oliver was completely oblivious to his trainer and Neptune's discussion, now purposely allowing himself to be whacked into the air like a beachball by the flopping feebas' tail going "Piiiiip! Piiiiiip!" which was approximately the hoppip equivalent of "WHEEEEEE!" Lvl 7 *I'M FLIYING I'M FLYING but really he's using splash if that. NOT REALLY BATTLING TBH* lvl 6 *Is attempting to learn/use tackle*((DAI IS STUPID ENOUGH TO ATTEMPT TO TUTOR HIS FISH AND HE THINKS NEPTUNE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THIS I am sure this will end terribly.)) |

Millenia Town - Docks Wow, this is most certainly interesting. Neptune was trying to teach himself Tackle against this Feebas who...also didn't have anything it could do. Meanwhile, Oliver...well Oliver was just being a derpy Hoppip. Bouncing up.........and down..........and up........and down............look at him go. Well, while he enjoyed the...more basic things in life, Neptune had a job to do. Of course, how exactly he'd throw himself without flopping and Splashing is something he'd have trouble figuring out, considering Splashing was a Magikarp's primary mode of out of water transportation. Neptune tried a few things. First, he tried simply throwing himself at Feebas. This didn't really work very well. The little fish was having some issues finding the strength to just throw himself into the air willy-nilly. Next he attempted to slap the ground and force himself into the air for an aerial Tackle sort of thing.....and that also failed. All he succeeded in doing was, well, slapping the ground. Okay, third time's the charm. Neptune filled himself with power, concentrated it, and..........hopped his way over to Feebas. Well, that was one way to do it. When he got close enough he forced himself forward, smacking the other fish with his skull. It didn't do amazing damage, but it was something. It was progress! All he needed to do was figure out how to throw himself over a larger distance with more force. All the while Oliver was sloooooowly bouncing up..........and down.......... Team Dai Team Feebas
