"A BATTLE! A BATTLE!"

You can hear some kids shouting in the distance as you and your Pokemon sized up your opponents. You gave your orders right away and the two opponents did the same.

"Bellsprout don't worry about attacking right now. We'll hit them in the next round. For now use two Growths and try to defend against their attacks!"

The boy behind the Nidorino sneered at his partner. The two didn't have much love for one another, but they seemed to be ok with fighting together against you for some odd reason. Was appearing between them really that bad of a thing? Why were you being punished by random intervention? Did it really matter? You were about to whoop some ass.

"Nidorino, Leer on the Scyther and then Double Kick!"

Nidorino leered at Scyther just as Teddy leered at both of the opponent's Pokemon. None of it seemed to have an outward effect, but the three Pokemon were effected. Scyther shook off his mental assault and started to focus his power. He cleared his mind and came to just in time to see two clawed feet plow into his face as the Nidorino used Double Kick. Scyther wasn't too pleased with how the Nidorino chose to attack and as the Nidorino retreaded back to his side, Scyther followed stealth-fully and struck the Nidorino on its back then glided over to the Bellsprout and did the same thing.

Soon Scyther was back on your side and both your Pokemon were ready for orders.

Oh wait, Sengjin IS in Millenia Town. He looked around some more and realized that when he first looked around, he did it too fast and didn't even notice that he was in the town. Silly Sengjin...

Anyway, after that was figured out, he put his mind back on the battle, thinking of a way to strike major damage on both of those Pokemon. Not a lot has happened, although the bellsprout used growth twice, increasing its special attack by two stages. The nidorino also used double kick on his scyther, which did a pathetic amount seeing how scyther is part flying. However, he was also grateful that the nidorino used the move, because Sengjin now had to watch out for the nidorino using the attack on Teddy. Those double kicks could hurt the little bear pokemon very, very badly.

And so, the young trainer came up with a plan that was fairly simple: try and take out that nidorino as fast as possible. "Scyther, Teddy! Let's take out that nidorino. Teddy, use Leer one more time on the nidorino, then charge and use Fury Swipes twice. Make every hit count! Scyther, try and knock that bellsprout to the ground with a Quick Attack. After, use another, but on the nidorino."

Fairly simple, but there wasn't much else he could do. The only one out there that had the type advantage was the nidorino's double kick against Teddy. After this battle, and after he hopefully wins, move tutoring will be on the agenda for his team. Although, he was still undecided if he should continue with hidden power, or simply tutor different moves.

Life is not a fairytale and there are no happy endings.
:: Millenia town

Your Teddiursa quickly got its orders done. With a quick leer attack the Nidorino's deffence once again took a sharp hit as it lowered. With that, the small normal type ran at the purple pokemon, showing its small claws as it struck. One, two, three and- Oh, before it could swipe again Nidorino had already dug its head beneath the small pokemon and used its horn to fling your pokemon away. Although it was against you, you got to say it was pretty smart.

Scyther, on the other hand had a little bit more luck. Bellsprout shot out a vine whip, yet thanks to the speed of Scyther and the speed of quick attack a quick dodge saw Scythers quick attack come in at more of an angle. Yet, thanks to the flexible body of Bellsprout it didn't get knocked to the floor. The quick attack carried on, and Nidorino who was too busy basking in the triumpth of its single attack on Teddiursa, was hit from behind, knocking the beast onto its stomach.

All in all, you aren't doing too bad seeing as you don't have the biggest range of attacks to choose from. Yet, it looks like this battle may go on a little longer than you would of hoped. Due to the length, more and more people seemed to be crowding around you all now, watching this intense battle. When a pokemon was hit hard, the emphisis of the crowd shouting "OOOFFT!" together made your confidence take a sky high rise, or plumit if that attack was delivered to you.

"Oh no," Sengjin said to himself. "A crowd."

Sengjin has no problems battling a trainer when it's only him and his opponent. He also didn't mind if a few people watched them, but, seeing how there was a big crowd beginning to surround them, he was certainly feeling some pressure. Sure, if he won, then everyone would be like, "Holy hell this dude's amazing!" or "Broseph, you ripe!"

If he lost, well, it'd be embarrassing....

With losing not an option, it was time to literally beat the living crap out of the opponent's pokemon. Literally. "Okay, Teddy, use leer again on both of them again. After, use fury swipes on the nidorino. Aim for the face to try and get some killer damage. Scyther, use a quick attack on the bellsprout, after, use two more on the nidorino. Remember, attack after Teddy uses leer"

Seize the moment, right? With the crowd slowly gathering mass on the outside of your battle, it would not be long before you had a full-on publicity stunt going on here. Regardless of how nervous –you- were feeling, it seemed that your Pokemon had no issue with working under pressure. Your Teddiursa stepped forward, and with one long, sweeping Leer across both of your opponents’ Pokemon, set the stage for the rest of this round. The pair of Trainers across from you both shouted out orders, valiantly attempting to be heard over the growing roar of the crowd surrounding you; the ambient noise was getting so intense that you had a hard time hearing exactly what it was that they were saying to their Pokemon.

Without warning, Bellsprout leapt forward to the middle of the Arena and released a sizable cloud of nasty-looking purple powder. It would have floated directly over both of your Pokemon, except that your string of orders happened to have given your Pokemon a break; as Scyther leapt into the air, wings humming furiously behind him as he charged up speed for his series of quick attacks, the down-thrust of air coming from his flight pushed the cloud clear of him. Unfortunately, because Teddiursa was on a collision course with Nidorino, it ran right through the stuff. It was almost instantly clear that Teddy was going to feel the effects of being poisoned, a pained expression passing over his face right before he lunged at the Nidorino again. Like last time, Teddy managed to get in three good hits; the last was especially vicious, catching the corner of the Nidorino’s mouth in the process. Rearing back with a sharp growl, the Nidorino turn and landed a direct Double Kick on Teddy, knocking him back on his derriere.

Right about this time Scyther let his speed loose, tearing towards the Bellsprout and catching it completely unawares with a body blow. Never losing momentum, Scyther turned mid-flight and headed towards the Nidorino. Bellsprout recovered quickly from the unexpected Quick Attack, turning and whipping a vine outwards after Scyther; Scyther’s speed far outmatched the velocity of the projectile, the vine only letting loose a sharp crack as it hit the pavement. The first Quick Attack on the Nidorino just seemed to further enrage it, and it spun to chase your Scyther only to get hit again. Both the Nidorino and the crowd made a “OOMPH!” sound, the Poison-type staggering back before giving your Scyther a nasty Leer.

Teddiursa now has (I think) +2 speed because of his Quick Feet ability.

The round went by pretty quick in Sengjin's eyes. The roaring crowd got him all riled up and distracted him from seeing who did what against who. One thing was for sure, though, that nidorino was still conscious. Luckily for him, though, the poison type pokemon could only take a certain amount of hits before it went down. He was going to make sure it would go down.

"Scyther, quick attack once more on the nidoran, another on the bellsprout. Teddy, fury swipes on the nidorino. If it's still standing, finish it off with a scratch, if not, fury swipes on the bellsprout!"

Seriously, after this battle, Sengjin needs to do some damn move tutoring. Even though this battle could go a lot quicker if he sent out Hurf Durf or Raymond, they were already strong and he wanted Teddy and scyther to get experience.

Suddenly, Sengjin's poketech rang. He checked to see what it was and it was a message from his parents. Even though he was maybe an hour away from them, they gave him a bunch of stuff. "Neato," he said, taking the metal coat and putting it into his bag. That'll be useful sometime in the future.

Head of Registration - The Exploding Train
MILLENIA TOWN

Scyther had a ferocious look in his eye as he seemingly disappeared without a trace. Of course, to those who were trained expertly, they might be able to follow the movements of the mantis Pokemon as he launched forward. Hurtling left and right, he barreled forward and laid out an impressive Quick Attack on the Nidorino. The Nidorino tried to fend of the insect assassin with a Poison Sting, but wasn't able to keep up with the quickness of the pace. The attack failed miserably, causing a complete miss. The Bellsprout walked up to Teddiursa and smacked it with a footy vine. The Vine Whip was a physical attack, so it didn't receive a stat boost, but still did some pretty decent damage. The last to act was Teddiursa, who leaped forward despite his poison and unleashed his claws in furious swipes. Once! Twice! Thrice! He probably could have hit him for a few more times if he had needed to, but there was no need. The Nidorino gave out one feeble cry before drifting into sweet unconsciousness. He was returned to his Pokeball to rest up.

Keeping up the momentum from the last round, Scyther barrelled perilously forward again. This time he connected with the Bellsprout, dealing some good damage. Unfortunately, the Bellsprout was prepared and let out a bizarre cloud of spores. They hit the Scyther right in the face. The recipient stumbled and fell over, unable to keep his eyes open for any longer. The last to go was your Teddiursa, who once again tottered over to the enemy unleashing a mighty torrent of blows with his claws yet again. Once! Twice! Thrice! erm.... four..ce? Well despite my lack of a cool sounding word for hitting four times, the move hit four times! It appeared that the round had gone mostly in favor for you. What will you do now, trainer?

(Just another heads up, since my Teddiursa is poisoned, his Quick Feet ability has kicked in, giving him a 50% speed boost)

Everything seemed to be going pretty well, the nidorino was knocked out and the bellsprout was also close to being knocked out, too. Well, that was until that damn bellsprout put his scyther to sleep. No matter, though, because the bellsprout was low on health and Teddy should be able to knock out the the stem, grassy pokemon thing. That'll give the crowd something to cheer about.

"Alright, Teddy, this battle is almost over. Charge at the bellsprout and use two scratches at the same time, put all of your power into the blow!"

After he gave out his orders to Teddy, he looked over to his scyther who was still snoozing from the sleep powder attack. Even though Sengjin had just caught the scyther, he was surprised at how well the mantis pokemon did in this battle. The young trainer knew that his scyther would be a valuable asset to his team.

"Hey, scyther," he said, hoping that maybe his sleeping partner would hear him. "Wake up and use a few more quick attacks! Show this crowd what you're made of!"

So the battle was practically over...well it should be in just a few minutes. The crowd had thinned significantly since the battle started. Although interested at first, it would seem that the apparently one-sidedness that had been shown throughout had made some move on. It was true in fact, as your pokemon barely seemed injured, interesting that.

Anyway Teddiursa leapt forward with his ability kicking in, allowing him to move at a faster pace, ducking low and striking up with a Scratch, followed closely by a second Scratch, his paw slashing downwards this time. Bellsprout toppled back and collapsed to the floor, defeated. The crowd applauded and you heard a few whistles as people celebrated for you. The two boys, who had been the ones to pick the fight, seemed to shrink back into the crowd and disappear, embarrassed for losing so easily.

After a bit the crowd was gone, and after receiving a few pat on the backs, you must have had a real confidence booster as well. You stated earlier you wanted to get in some tutoring. Now may be the perfect time. Your pokemon are feeling good, your morale is high, and the sun is still sitting pretty in the sky. I'd guesstimate you had a few hours until nightfall, plenty of time to tutor.

Heh, guesstimate. Anyway...

Sengjin had the utmost faith in Teddy to finish this battle and he was not disappointed. The attack from Teddy went magnificent, knocking out the bellsprout, giving him and scyther a good chunk of experience. As the crowd cheered for him, his two opponents quickly returned their pokemon and ran through the crowd, running away from their embarrassment.

He felt good, pretty good actually, but quite frankly, the little tussle between him and the two other trainers was just another battle for Sengjin. He mainly felt good because he got to get the last laugh against the two jerk offs. Anyway, the crowd died down, each of them leaving to go back to do their own business, and left the young trainer by himself. He got out of the streets and found a nice secluded place for him to tutor. It was right outside the park, a large circle of grass with a few trees on the outskirts of the circle. This area was perfect for him.

Sengjin took all of his pokeballs that he had on him and sent out all of his pokemon one by one. The first member of the team that he sent out was Raymond, his shellder. He already had plans for the shellfish pokemon - to finish tutoring hidden power and see if he can get a move to cover a weakness. Next was Hurf Durf. He wasn't too sure on what to teach him. Earthquake was definitively a move that he wanted to teach, but judging by the last time he tried to, progress was very, very friggin slow.

Teddy and Beebee were out next, each of them already having a good jump on several moves - slash for Teddy and poison jab for Beebee. Last, but not least, was scyther. In his bag, he had a metal coat to eventually evolve scyther into a scizor, but that was for another time, seeing how he wanted to teach scyther some more moves before evolving him.

Now that all of them were out of their pokeballs, enjoying the fresh air for several moments, Sengjin got all of their attentions by clapping his hands a few times. "Okay, guys - and Beebee - we're going to do some more tutoring today, so I want everyone to separate so you all have room," he said, while taking a few steps back. Everyone, too, separated from each other, which is obviously what he wanted.

  • :shellder
  • "Okay, Raymond, we're going to finish up with Hidden Power. You already have good progress with it, so hopefully we can finish this up quickly. Not only that, but you've gotten a lot stronger from the previous battles, so hopefully this will be a lot easier than last time.

Now, I assume you already know how to collect energy from your inner self. Chi, as some of those 'old' people have said to us back in the day. If you're feeling a little rusty, take some time to meditate and focus to find that hidden source of power in you. Take large deep breaths, in the nose and out the mouth (that is, if you even have those...), and single out everything else from the outside world. Let all of your concentration be focused on the meditation to find that energy.

Once you feel confident that you've found that hidden source of power, turn it into a spherical-like weapon of energy. It's also critical that you keep control of that energy, we don't want it blowing up in your face now, do we? Anyway, bring the energy out and fire it. Shoot it in the sky, at the ground, at that rock, anywhere. Just... Not at us, please."

  • :teddiursa
  • "Teddy, we're going to finish a move that should have been done a long time ago, Slash. The move is quite simple, it's like scratch, except it packs a helluva lot more punch to it. I want you to take a tree that's near here and imagine a long time enemy that you've had. Once you've done that, unleash on that enemy/tree. Strike hard and aim for the critical areas. To attack stronger, use your body weight to transfer more energy into your blows. Do that, and you'll master slash."

  • :swinub
  • "Oh, boy, Hurf Durf. Don't worry, I'm not teaching you a move like blizzard all over again. Nope. Today, we're going to see how we can do with Mud Bomb. The move is pretty simple, gather as much mud as you can and toss it at your foe. While it may sound easy, it might be a bit complicated, so I'll explain it for you.

You already have the move mud-slap, which is like mud bomb, but a lot weaker. Like, a lot. So, what I want you to do is to gather mud, like how you would normally do with mud-slap, except, I want you to gather twice as much mud than you normally would. Since there's a noticeable difference in the word bomb and slap, you're going to need more mud. For now, though, let's just do twice as much mud. We'll eventually try three times as more and possibly four times as more.

Now, once you've got your mud - remember, twice as much than you would usually do for mud-slap - hurl it any of those trees, rocks, or simply in the air for an unfortunate soul to get hit by. Repeat a few more times and I have no doubt that you'll eventually master the move."

  • :beedrill
  • "Alright, Beebee, you're up next. Your move is going to be Poison Jab. The move is pretty self explanatory, get some poison in those jabbers of yours, and jab! However, I have a feeling that it won't be that simple, so I also have to explain the move to you, I suppose.

Think of the move like an upgraded poison sting. You're able to send tiny poisonous stingers from... wherever it comes from you. A poison jab is just like that, except you poison your jabbers to jab. So, what I want you to do is bring that poison to your jabbers, like how you would bring your poison to use a poison sting. You're simply redirecting the poison to your jabbers. Or are they called stingers? Blades? Meh. Anyway, practice by jabbing the air."

  • :scyther
  • "Hey, there, scyther. You're going to be learning Swords Dance. This move will decide whether you'll be able to run over opponents or not. What I want you to do is to pump yourself up. That battle you just had? The time where you were kept captive in that net? Use those emotions and get yourself pumped up. Use that energy to build your confidence, then SPIN THE FUCK AROUND, GO CRAZY! Use that confidence and strength to power your muscles and destroy anything that gets in your way!"

Derping... All Day, Every Day!
Streets of Millenia Town…

:shellder with Hidden Power [ 80% ]

The inner focus was there at present, but Raymond took the next step as a caution and refocused all of that energy. Orbs started to form, as the Shellder was able to pump more energy into it from what you had told it, as it had gotten stronger. When it did, its power got stronger as well. The orbs seemed to multiply, and soon one turned into five, and then eight. Together was their power, but the orbs still needed something more. They began to get bigger, and Raymond’s face cringed more and more. But he was almost there! That is when the orbs started to turn yellow, and seemed to spark about. Raymond left this round really close to the end, but he didn’t get the sure chance or energy to fire them off, though you noticed a pull from him.

:teddiursa with Slash [ Learned! ]

Somehow Teddiursa almost had this move done before, so it was basically just the need to finish it up! He went to the tree and imagined it to be a long time enemy, but would probably never reveal to you or any teammate of who it may be. For all you could know it was someone in his earlier, not-tamed life or someone from his adventures with you. Either way, he started to slash away, and you watched as his claws started to turn white and he seemed like a pro at this. He was doing everything you said to further it, and seemed to have finished the move. Two down and a few more to go!

:swinub with Mud Bomb [ 30% ]

Well, look at this! Swinub has a low experience of this move already, so it won’t get as hard as it gets. The pokemon seemed used to the mud, so it had no trouble diving right in and getting to work on his new move. Swinub started to move all the mud he could together, and found it to be a little too sloppy. It wasn’t a lot of mud around, but in the fortunate pile he did find, it wouldn’t stay together. Patting it all over, it soon seemed to get more dense, and much harder as if the patting was air getting to it for a good dry. But when Swinub went to throw it, it seemed to fall apart and half of it landed on top of him.

:beedrill with Poison Jab [ 75% ]

Beebee already had experience in drawing the poison, or something. It probably retained some of that in memories and while you explained it over again, it started to go to work. The “jabbers” stayed still as the Beedrill focused on directing his inner poison to his hands, and finally they started getting a purple tint. Poison drops formed around the spot where Beedrill’s arm met the “jabbers”. He was getting there, but would need to draw more. And so he tried before resting. Silver soon turned over to a poison color, and Beedrill could hold poison in his “jabbers”, however he had to maintain it for a length of time and hit a target!

:scyther with Swords Dance [ 75% ]

Scyther seemed to be the only one you’re tutoring that hasn’t had experience in tutoring, or an unfinished one. Either way, he had a fairly decent move that would make him so much tougher in battles. He tried to bring up those emotions, though he probably didn’t. You told him to spin around and he instantly cocked an eyebrow/lid and looked at you strangely. Shrugging it off, he started to turn and that turning transformed into a full on spin. As he was doing so, his arms felt heavy and he dropped them to the floor, too much which it hit the ground and skid along. Scyther smiled, and you caught the faint glimpse of it; the skidding scythes were becoming sharper as they gridded across the ground. He stopped from being a little too dizzy, and he only needed a little bit more, or a deeper grid.

Well, things were going pretty good, the young trainer assumed. Teddy finally learned the move slash, the better version of scratch, and scyther got a big jump on swords dance, a move that will no doubt be important for future battles. His other pokemon did great, too, making good progress on the learning of their new moves. After all, it ain't easy being green to learn new moves that are somewhat unnatural. Anyway, with all of the thinking that was going through Sengjin's head, he continued on with the move tutoring.
  • :shellder
  • The first one to start the second round of move tutoring was Raymond. The young trainer hoped that Raymond would be able to finish learning hidden power, having only a small chunk left to finish before it was fully mastered.

"Okay, Raymond, you're up first again. You know everything that you need to know, all you need to do is practice, practice, practice until you master the move. Hidden power was challenging for the both of us at first, but we can do this. You already know how to take the energy from within your body and already know how to form it into a weapon move. Take everything that you've learned so far and use it. Master the move. Put your power into those balls of energy. Each ball should act like a fist, constant pounding, pressure, and pain. Do this, and I can guarantee that you'll learn hidden power."

  • "Scyther, first off, very nice job on getting the idea of the move, swords dance. Although, I think what we need to do is find a way to get your strength boost faster. A lot faster. The move seems a bit tricky and confusing to me, but if it isn't for you, then that's great, cause then that means you'll learn it faster and stuff. But anyway, instead of spinning around a lot, I want you to try and do it only once. Although, clench your arms (biceps?) as you spin, to get more blood into your muscles. If my theory is correct, which I hope it is, a lot more blood will get into your muscles which will result in you being stronger. Give a go a few times and see if it works for you."

Meanwhile, instead of tutoring the rest of his pokemon, Sengjin decided to be lazy and not teach the rest of his pokemon. Yeah...

:shellder with Hidden Power [ 100% ] // :scyther with Swords Dance [ 100% ]

Shellder was first. Scyther wasn’t long after, but you examined the water type before all else. It was on what seemed to be the last few points of working on Hidden Power. With a few points missing, it was like working the kinks out of a rusting chain. Pin pointing the problem is simple; Practicing was better. The orbs, one by one, seemed to be a now natural flow for the Shellder. For such progress, and still not an element or power, that is what this’ll be. The orbs seemed to pulse as they took their fated power, which seemed as strong as Tackle, but then seemed to become stronger. Individually, in turns, the orbs started to take on a green glow. With following through, the Shellder fired off all of the orbs, finding that the orbs were of the grass type, a total opposite for it. [:grass ; C Rank]

Scyther watched on as his comrade finished their move. It was his turn to try and shine, learning a new move for himself. Being among those few that seemed to actually have finished moves, he would thrive to try hard. Clenching his biceps and reaching with muscles leading to his scythe-like hands, he spun once. It was like adrenaline—in a sense. He spun once again, for a second try. He kept feeling strong, somehow. On the third try, he released the muscles and felt super strong, hoping back and forth between feet as if he was a boxer readying for a match.

The other pokemon would definitely be jealous! You had tons more to do, but wait! You found a pretty, young girl walking by while juggling pokeballs. Maybe a fight?

Hidden power grass was a bit unexpected, but Sengjin was glad that he finally got that move out of the way. Scyther finished his move tutoring, too, which concluded the day's tutoring session. The young trainer sighed in relief, the probability of another tutoring session not going to happen for a very long time.

Anyway, he returned all of his pokemon back into their pokeballs and was ready to set off, but before he did, he got an e-message from his dad who also sent it with a gift. Not caring for the message at all, he immediately checked to see what the gift was and found out that it was a pokemon from a land far away from Alternia. He looked at his poketech and saw that the pokemon his dad gave him was... Like... Yeah. Not cool at all.

With this, he went on his way to the pokemon center to put his new addition to the team into the computer. Although, before he did that, he saw a girl with a few pokeballs in her hand. He wanted to test out his new moves, so he walked over to the girl, waving his hand to get her attention.

"Hi! I saw you juggling those balls in your hand. Erm, pokeballs I mean... Anyway, you want to fight? Battle, I mean. Not a fist fight. Unless you want to... Uh... Yeah... A battle, then?"

Ooh, a pretty girl, eh? Well I'm sure you can just imagine her, all pretty and whatnot...what you thought I'd link a picture? Oh yeah and risk having "pretty girl" as a google image search on saved on my computer's hidtory. Oh yeah you'd love that wouldn't you, wouldn't you! Erm...sorry about that, long day. Anyway, this allegedly pretty girl (of whom we have no pictures) looked you up and down as you spoke to her.

She looked about your age, medium length brunette hair tied in a ponytail down her back. She had just regular kid clothes on, a pair of tight jeans and a white t-shirt, pretty generic really. On her stylish brown belt you could see three slots for where the Pokeballs she was juggling probably go. She caught two of the Pokeballs in one hand and the third in the other. When she was done looking you up and down she...well she didn't seem to impressed.

"You? Want a Pokemon battle? Well I guess I do have some time to kill." Ouch! Are you gonna take that! "Alright, well I've got three Pokemon here, and since I don't know your Pokemon you won't know mine until I send them out. We'll just go one on one I guess." The girl tossed out her first Pokeball revealing a Butterfree who looked just about as apathetic as her trainer. I guess that sort of stuff rubs off.

Well, are you going to take this challenge? Or are you gonna walk away and maybe find someone nicer? Perhaps this battle will teach this girl a lesson in manners. Yeah, that'll show her! Or like I said you can walk and find someone nicer to battle, it really is your choice.
