Crystal's Journey

As you stepped out of the front door you were greeted with a cool breeze and a glaring sun. You'd said your goodbyes, had everything packed and you were ready to set out on your very own adventure. Standing on the doorstep with your Larvitar's pokéball in hand you glanced around you. It was the same old Millenia Town that you'd always known, but somehow today you saw it in a different light. The street running to the left of your house was still a suburban street, but suddenly the bushes and trees running along both sides were now potential habitats for any multitude of Pokémon.

But the town wasn't all that had changed. You now saw the townspeople through new eyes as well. It now seemed that every second person that walked past was either a Pokémon trainer or coordinator, or else some other form of Pokémon user. There was the older man in the red jacket, who used to only be the older man in the red jacket, but now he was the older man in the red jacket with three pokéballs clipped to his belt. Then there was the boy in his late teens, the eight or nine year old girl, the group of school children playing in the park, and even some of the soccer mums driving past in their minivans; all of them were now potential opponents or allies.

So I guess this is where you make up your mind as to what you want to do. You've got a few choices: you could challenge one of the aforementioned people to a battle (except of course the soccer mums in their minivans, as they're all long gone by thin point), or you could go and scrounge around in the undergrowth in hopes of finding some more Pokémon to add to your team. Otherwise you could get to know your Larvitar a little better; it might be nice to teach him some new moves or play with him for a while, or even to give him a nickname so that he's not just another Larvitar.

Or, you could just take a wander around Millenia Town. You know, meet the people, take in the sights. I'm sure that if you look around enough you'll find that there are plenty of opportunities for young Pokémon trainers like yourself. Anyway, give it some thought, think about where you'd like to see the start of your journey taking you, and then act on those ambitions. The sun's shining brightly today, but the future's shining brighter!

I'm wrecking this place up like a tornado of vengeance! Sideways is the best ways! Look out, Aro. You're about to be diago-NAILED!
Considering that the battle wasn't so clear-cut as 'Finn against the females' and 'Bidoof against the males' anymore, it's safe to say that this had devolved into a pure two-on-five battle. This could be a good or a bad thing, but either way, you were outnumbered. Let's take a minute to remember who started it, though. Not you, certainly, but it certainly wasn't the Marill, who were merely defending themselves. But we won't dwell on the morals of the situation, since, of course, you had just stoked the flames by throwing a pokéball at the weakest one.

Desire for a Marill aside, this was quite a clever way of shrinking your opposition. A captured pokémon was one pokémon less on the battlefield, afterall! Despite your belief that you had bad aim, the pokéball hit that water beast right on the head, as if it had gravitated towards the Marill. The mouse had time to look surprised before being sucked into the pokéball, and it stayed there, shaking hard as the Marill fought capture. Before you could see if it worked, another Marill, the strongest female, gave an angry cry and leapt towards Finn, who retaliated with another attempt at Rapid Spin. The Marill's feeble attempt at a Tackle was completely deflected by the fast-moving limbs of the Staryu, who proceeded to soar past the Marill into the other one, effectively striking both in one go. Finn completed the circle as it spun back to you, landing neatly and impressively at your feet with a loud and passionate cry. It was quite intimidating, really.

It was at this point that you heard the decisive 'ding' of your pokéball. Congratulations; not only does your Staryu complete a perfect Rapid Spin, but you gain a Marill and lose an opponent! Things are starting to really look up.

Of course, there are three more Marill with attacks left.

The thing which really wasn't looking good was the fact that your Staryu was the most battered out of your side, and the Marill seemed keen to exploit that. In unison, each of the three lunged at Finn once, Tackling the Staryu and not letting it recover between attacks. The Bidoof's trainer, glad not to be the target of the Marill's aggression anymore, gave a shout for his pokémon to Tackle one of them back. He then gave you an odd look, as if to suggest that you had cashed in on his attempt to catch a Marill. Still, you were helping him, so he couldn't complain too much... besides, he anticipated many more KO'd Marill by the end of it; rich pickings for him! Maybe this was turning out nice afterall, and you catching your own meant he didn't have to thank you too much. I mean, in a 'reward' kind of way; he was plenty thankful for your help.

One of the Marill diverted her attentions to the Bidoof as he tried to join in, and thwarted his attempts at a Tackle by using a combo of Defence Curl and Tackle. The remaining two Marill then used Defence Curl in unison, preparing to prolong this fight as much as they could. Just because you were a higher level, and had stolen their friend, didn't mean this would be easy! Don't forget their Huge Power ability, which means that they will still pack quite a punch.

I LOVE Avatar...The Last Airbender, yo.
Fists clenched, Crystal watch as her Staryu began to perform Rapid Spin. It rushed down towards two Marill and struck both of them. Finn returned by Crystal's side, ready for some more. She was so completely focused on Finn's move that she forgot about the Marill. Crystal turned frantically to find the Marill she aimed to capture. But instead of finding the Marill, Crystal found a Pokeball freaking out on the ground. The Pokeball tossed and turned all over the ground. Was it supposed to do this? Who knows, she did what she learned. She'll find out if she was victorious soon enough. After more shaking and rattling, a 'ding' was heard. As the Pokeball made the 'ding', the Pokeball stopped moving.

Crystal felt a huge load lifted off of her shoulders. She had finally captured her first Pokemon fair and square. Immediately, Crystal ran to grab the Pokeball. But before she could, there was a cry coming from Finn. Three Marill pummeled Finn simultaneously, causing it great pain. The guy's Bidoof finally came to the rescue, Tackling the Marill. Finn's health was very low, and there was no way it would survive another round. As much as she wanted for Finn to continue on with the battle, she had to call him back. It was too risky. Quickly before the Marill could strike, Crystal dislodged Finn's Pokeball. She aimed the Pokeball at Finn and called it back. "I'm so proud of you, Finn. You've done an awesome job," Crystal said to the Pokeball.

She reached for another Pokeball around her belt, and tossed it. Out from the Pokeball came her Pokemon, Cole. "Okay Cole, listen up! We're in the middle of a battle with a bunch of angry Marill. So give us a hand! Start by using Leer, and then attack the weakest female Marill with Double Kick!"

Oh God not a Bidoof
Congratulations on Finn learning Rapid Spin! It was a hard move to perfect, certainly, but your Staryu pulled through just when it needed it. It was a smart move recalling it when you did, though; it certainly wouldn't have withheld another bunch of attack by these Marill.
Finn gave a small sigh of relief as it was withdrawn back into its Poke Ball, as the Staryu itself knew it was standing on its metaphorical last legs. When Cole was thrown out, the Nidoran looked around, blinking briefly before his eyes set on the swarm of Marill before him.

"Nido!?" it cried, looking back at Crystal as if she were crazy. Just how in the heck had she managed to get this many on her butt? He glanced around to the Bidoof that seemed to be accompanying him in battle. Giving a small nod, he awaited Crystal's orders.
When she finally gave them, Cole called out his name in confirmation before darting for the female Marill, who looked to be standing on her last legs. He shot her a sharp glare, which caused the Marill to whimper, her beneficial Defense Curl from earlier in the battle becoming void beneath the piercing gaze of of the Nidoran.
Finally, the Poison-type ran forward, aiming a Double Kick right at the Female, who feebly tried to run away at the last minute. But Cole was too fast, and with merely a single of his powerful kicks, the Marill toppled over, completely unconscious.

"Bidoof!" the boy roared, pointing his finger at the remaining female Marill. "Shoot three Tackles at that Marill, okay? Don't let up at all!"
The beaver nodded, determination flashing in his eyes before he ran forward on his stubby little legs, slamming his body into the female. She let out a cry of pain, quickly executing a Defense Curl to better her defense even more. As the Bidoof came charging forward again, Marill brought about her own attack, Tackling the Bidoof with all the force she could muster. Bidoof tackled her in return, knocking the Marill back somewhat, and following through with YET ANOTHER lunge, refusing to let up.

The male (level 5) Marill let out a small whimper, beginning to get frightened. His brethren were quickly falling to these two Pokemon. The other male, however, was not too afraid to fight back. First executing yet another Defense Curl, the Marill lunged toward Cole, slamming a Tackle into his side.

This was going pretty well, for a battle that started so one-sided. Just hang in there, and you should do just fine!
