Welcome to Alternia! It was just starting to get dark in Nogou village. The sky was filled with dark clouds, though not a single drop of rain had fallen... yet, anyway. A few wooden buildings were scattered about right here, all overgrown with vines. In the center of the small clearing was a large, dark pond, surrounded by benches. People were walking all about, a few of them with pokemon, none seemed to pay much attention to you, sitting on the small bench, your back to the water. Suddenly, THWACK! A large, red fish flew into the back of your head, narrowly missing the bench. You turned around to see the magikarp flailing about pitifully on the ground, a pink otter nearby. The slowpoke was lazily fishing, and must have tossed the weakling fish off of its tail. It slowly dragged itself up, and began walking over to its prey. The magikarp was flopping about, trying to throw itself back into the water. Combatants ![]() Level 5 35/35 100% ![]() Level 6 32/37 87%

The flashing advertisement above this reply screen says it, and it was certainly what was going through your mind: WINNER! WINNER! WINNER! Yes, the advertisement is a predicter of the future... or is it? Suddenly a Salamence flew from the sky and fired a - just kidding - boy, the imagined look on your face is priceless. In actuallity the battle was much more straight forward than that. Oddish used Sweet Scent effectivley, the aromatic cloud flowed through the air over to the still dozing pokemon. However, this is where things changed as the Nidoran woke, she was drowsy after her long slumber but still battle ready. Absorbe was fired once, it hit Nidoran and glanced off her body. She nimbly did a flip backwards and unleased a Scratch on Slowpoke's head, and dodged out of the way of the first confusion attack. Oddish waited for the small pokemon to appear again before firing the second Absorb, this one hit Nidoran powerfully and set her into the path of Slowpoke who let loose on Confusion and then the final one. These hit at close range and caused major damage.Nidoran collapsed after the onslaught of attacks, it seemed over. Remarkably however, Nidoran stumbled to her feet, weak as all heck but still capable of fighting. She teetered on her paws and weakly turned to face the two of you, she was a tough little cookie. The boy was freaking out a bit but he decided to let the battle end, or he had no idea what to do, either way one more round and this battle is in the bag.Team Pokemon Lv. 6 ![]() 37/37 60%(Defense -1) Attacks: Absorb, Sweet Scent, Poison Powder (70%), Charm (10%) Lv. 7 ![]() 14/39 63%Attacks: Curse, Yawn, Tackle, Growl, Confusion. OMIGAWDTHATWASYETANOTHERBREATHOFMYCHESTTHAT'SNOTFUNNYSCARINGMELIKETHAT- *gasp* Back to the story. No Salamence, no crashing Rhydon, this was one smooth-sailing battle with nothing too awkward to deal with in between. The two Pokémon were getting better at their attacks as well, with both of them having mastered the moves they were supposed to learn, to a large degree. There wasn't much to say now: Nothing much to the boy, who would probably be feeling really bad about her beating his Pokémon up this bad; nothing much to the Pokémon, who were nearly as aware of their successful partnership as her. And obviously, she had absolutely nothing to tell herself about since, well, that was simply illogical. Now, time to end the battle, short and sweet. It'll be awkward to turn back to the Pokémon Centre and heal up minutes after she'd just done so but hey, this was the purpose of having a 24-hour healing hub, right. Right. Time to end this. 'Kaori, finish up with 2 Poison Powders, and try to master it this time. Hima, go with a Confusion and if the Nidoran isn't down by then, follow up with another.' Short, sweet commands. Nothing much like the long, dreary speeches that she made when she was attempting to force Confusion/Poisonpowder right into their heads. And she liked the feeling of not enslaving her Pokémon too much. They were getting tired of battling, and she too was feeling the strain on her neck for being too tensed up during the battle. And again, Kaori was exuding that air of superiority again: won't that Oddish ever learn humility. And her sympathies to the boy, who had unwittingly challenged her. Well, at least it was a good fight, fair and square. And they could be friends too. Midori turned to the boy (who seemed to be in shock) and gave him a nod before putting up her right thumb. 'Good match there. Thanks for the battle.' And then she waited for the end. Her fingers were toying around with Hima's Pokeball stuck right at the bottom of her bag. It was just one last move, and SNAP. Done. |

The Greatest Thief of All

I don't really "get" why you're tutoring Poisonpowder now, of all times. Even if you did get it out, how would you know it actually worked? After all, the Nidoran family are all poison types - as in, unaffected by poisoning attacks. But that's something brought up by previous referees (and the boy too), of course. It seemed a little odd to try and get a move down now against an opponent that it doesn't work on, but hey, its your journey, not mine. Let's get this little ref started. Truthfully, I don't have much to write about, do I? The boy was a little disheartened to see his Pokemon fighting so weakly. Your Oddish and Slowpoke had already dispatched the male Nidoran, and his female companion would be soon to follow, already on the edge of fainting. Though he may have wanted to end the fight then and there, it was more important to just accept his losses and man up. Such was the life of a Pokemon Trainer, after all. Shaking her headleafs, Kaori once more released a flurry of poisonous spores. The cloud grew once more after another release of the toxic powder, sweeping over the Nidorans like a plague. The poison-type was, obviously, unaffected. Though your instruction was vague, practice did make perfect - Kaori was beginning to better understand the nuances and niches necessary to release a "true" Poison Powder, but was not yet there. In the future, it would be helpful to work on her consistency; the Oddish initially released many, many spores, but the second poison cloud was far smaller. Hima was quick to finish. With as much quickness as members of his species could muster, that is. Calling out with a grin, "Sloooooooow..." the Slowpoke concentrated and released a mental barrage at the Nidoran . Squealing in momentary pain, she quickly joined her partner, fainting immediately. Frowning, the boy sighed and returned his Nidoran duo to their pokeballs."I guess that's how it goes..." he said, reaching into his pocket to pull out a handful of bills. "I was gonna go buy a pokeball with that, but since you beat me fair 'n square, I'll let you have it." He handed over the wad, before turning around and walking back to the PokeCenter. Counting quickly, you saw that he gave you $60. Not too bad, given the good experience you got too! ![]() Hima gained 8.6 for winning!Hima grew to Level 8, with 1.6 left over!![]() Kaori gained 10 for winning!Kaori grew to Level 7, with 4 left over!Poisonpowder: 75% Learned!
