Nido had been, despite your encouraging words, still too frightened by Mean Look to carry out your command. He did manage to take in your suggestion, though, and was staring, frozen, as Machop was also incapacitated. As the Spinarak began to leave, Nido slowly regained composure and bravery, but wasn't ready to concentrate on attempting Sludge Bomb again for a while. Machop, though unable to move for his hands and legs were all tied up, was pretty pissed off that he'd been out-manoeuvred so easily by a stupid little spider. He grumbled, but had to wait 'til he was released or the silk weakened enough for him to break it. As it was, you let loose your only other pokémon, the young Velix. She had only recently won that battle and gained all that experience, and she was in a curious limbo between 'grown up' and infantile'. Technically, she was a child - but then she was much stronger than before, much more focused. When she looked up at you, a new intelligence and understanding in her eyes, she listened to your commands and actually took them in properly. "Veee!" she said, now able to carry out your orders without messing about or failing to concentrate. Turning to the retreating Spinarak, who could really care less about the appearance of Velix, the psychic fox prepared the first Energy Ball. Now that she was more powerful, she handled it far better; the charge of solar energy went flying towards the Spinarak just before she disappeared. Happy, Velix began to charge the second one. However, though she was a higher level, she was really no more experienced in battle. She hadn't really taken the last one seriously, afterall. The second Energy Ball hit the Spinarak with ease, but it didn't seem to do much damage. There was a moment when the spider paused, and you didn't know what she planned to do - until she gave another irritated sigh, and dropped out of the tree. From her own free will, this time, if you count 'being forced into a battle' as 'her own free will'. Either way, she was prepared to take you on, and shot you personally a dirty look before rounding on Velix. The spider and fox were evenly sized, and your young pokémon gave a small gulp as she realised how serious this was turning out. The Spinarak shot a stream of nasty Poison Shots at the Velix, but only a few hit; the fox had good reflexes, and managed to avoid many with a startled yelp. Though adrenaline had saved her this one time, she hadn't had a chance to really rest since her last fight, and so was already a little tired. Murmuring to herself, the Spinarak turned to Machop and did the same; unable to avoid it, the Machop took the stings, and was poisoned. The stings also cut through a few of the silk strings, though, weakening the Constrict a little bit. This time, the Spinarak didn't leave the battlefield; she knew what you wanted, and though she didn't like it, it seemed as though she was willing to give you what you wanted. Upset that she had attacked the young Velix, Nido finally broke free of his fear and had another go at Sludge Bomb, almost forgetting to let it harden a little before releasing it. It splatted on the spider's back, a fairly good attempt at Sludge Bomb, but it did very little to harm the fellow Poison-type. The major problem for you was that all of your pokémon were weak against her, especially the two moves you were trying to move tutor. Kaz was having a hard time believing what was going done. With the spider being hit, by just one energy ball, he felt it was good enough that Velix actually hit the spider. Not losing all hope, well, not until the second. The spider seemed to join the fight, with a very serious attitude now and that made Kazuki happy. He couldn't believe how Velix moved yet, and let a small smile go as well as moving a little bit back in order to dodge the move himself. "Velix, again. Two energy balls!" Kaz looked over at Nido, the poison-type, purple pokemon who broke free of his fear and attempting Sludge Bomb. Knowing it wouldn't work was a drag, however, Nido had to work on it in order to learn it. Let's take a break from it for this round! "Nido, Horn Attack, twice." He commanded Nido with confidence in his tone that would hopefully allow Nido to go forth. There was a probably with Machop being constricted, still, but had the urge to weaken the insect first. |

Though a little nervous, Velix began to charge her third Energy Ball. She hadn’t realised quite how much being attacked hurt, and she was scared that the Spinarak, who looked anything but happy, was going to hurt her again. She didn’t think it was fair; she was only following your orders! The spider should lighten up and see it as a game. Velix certainly wanted to, but the pain from the stings still ebbed in her mind. At least she hadn’t been poisoned; I don’t know if the fox could have handled that. Powering the Energy Ball up, the Velix sent it shooting right at the Spinarak, who had only just turned around to face her again. The spider took the attack right in the face, but typing advantages kept much damage from being done. However, there was a moment when the foe glowed for a moment, and seemed a little weakened; her special defence was lowered, which would help if you wanted to keep using Energy Ball. The Spinarak shook her head to snap out of it, then grumbled, and sent a stream of String Shot at the fox just as she was preparing her second Energy Ball. The Energy Ball was hastily released just before the string wrapped around the Velix’s front legs, causing her to lose balance and tumble over. She cried out and began to tug and gnaw at the string in order to free herself. Velix was saved from further punishment by Nido, though, for he chose this moment to leap forwards in a Horn Attack as the Spinarak was distracted. The first struck the foe with considerable power, and before she could recover, Nido had spun around and lunged for a second time. Having expected all of these attacks to be mediocre, she was startled when he actually did some damage. Unhappy with this, she turned on him again and rose up so that she could give him a second full-on Mean Face. Having only just recovered from his fear the first time around, this froze him to the spot again, and he whimpered pathetically. After a second, he was able to move, but with much less speed; he was shaking and unsure on his feet, but prepared to carry on fighting. The Velix had taken this time to get most of the sticky string from her paws, but she had done an imperfect job, and her movement was hindered. She had managed to struggle to her feet, though, only to be bombarded with an angry Poison Sting. She cried out in startled, upset pain, and then again as the poison began to course through her body. The Spinarak, though much less healthy than the previous round, was far from giving in. She wasn’t even perturbed at taking on more than one foe, though hadn’t actually been able to deal much damage to Nido yet. The Machop was still stuck, and despite the draining poison, was putting his energy into breaking free. Some of the silky strands snapped, which was progress, but it would take much more than that to allow him free movement again. Fighting this mere spider may have sounded easy, but Kaz would ensure anyone that it was harder then it sounded. He had been training two pokemon, and was forced on bringing out a third. He couldn't forget the task at hand though. The aim was to capture the spider, not defeat it. It was time to prepare for this capture. Kaz brought up ideas, and they stretched from all of the attacks his pokemon knew. He knew what Machop and Nido could do. It took some extra time but he had made a plan for Velix as well. "Nido, Machop, use leer." Travis' tone had confidence in it. He wanted to watch and see their effects but had no time. Unclipping a pokeball from his belt, he prepared for the next step. "Velix, use an Energy ball. Don't defeat it if you can, but hurt it. You don't want to feel any pain, do you?" Travis could tell from her being a playful type that being attacked was very different and a very dislikable thing to her. Using that trait, he hoped to lower the spider's health really low. When all the commands were in, he paused for the minute it took for everything to try and connect. His anxiousness of throwing that pokeball was great but he felt he had to wait. And so he will wait, and hope that the spider's next round is a last round. |

This Spinarak didn‘t even realise you wanted to capture her; she just thought you wanted to piss her off. Which you were succeeding at. Your choice of attacks for Nido and Machop were wise in that they didn‘t require much movement; both of them, in turn, got the spider‘s attention and Leered at her, as per your commands. Both of them almost failed; she had already proven to be scarier than your Nidoran twice, and Machop couldn‘t do much of anything to her. However, her defence was still lowered because their attempts at Leer merely pissed her off more and made her more reckless in her attacks. How dare they try and gang up on her! Sending a String Shot at Nidoran, she lowered his speed yet more, and managed to completely encase much of his front body in the stringy silk. He gave a startled cry and fell forwards, a little like Velix had, unable to move once more. The Spinarak then spun about again, choosing a new target, since she had three to pick from. Machop was still struggling with Constrict and the poison, so she chose to leave him. Rounding on Velix once more, she prepared yet another Poison Sting just as Velix nervously but obediently powered up an Energy Ball. Both of the attacks were released and sent flying past the other, and practically hit in unison. Velix cried out and stumbled back at the poisonous pins struck her face, embedding into her before disappearing. Similarly, the Energy Ball struck the Spinarak full in the face. Unfortunately, Energy Ball is a Special attack, and so the two Leers - which affect normal Defence - didn‘t do much of anything to increase the power of Energy Ball. Her double type advantage kept the attack from doing too much damage, so if you wanted her to stay in the battle, your wish is granted! Kaz was getting annoyed himself. This battle was becoming too difficult. He knew, before long, that the poison would eventually take Machop and Velix. That was because Machop was caught, and had no chance to do anything right now. Velix, not so much of a battler, wasn't doing much. Kaz knew the damage wasn't exactly in her control, however, he just wish he'd see more done. "Machop, try to break free." Kaz needed Machop to get out. He wanted to see Machop in action, as well as continue on the move. It didn't matter if the move was ineffective, because Machop wasn't going to do much more damage unless it was with the new move. "Nido, calm yourself. Use peck and take yourself out." Kaz thought if Nido's horn grew with energy, maybe he could cut some of the string off of him with it. Of course, Kaz wanted to keep going on the Sludge Bomb. "Velix, energy ball! One more time." Kaz wanted a distraction for his own "attack". He wanted to catch that spider, end this battle, and move on with things. He gripped the pokeball and waited for Velix to charge the move, but had the instinct to throw as soon as possible and did. He launched the pokeball out of his hand and in the spider's direction! |

You were right to focus on the two pokémon who were out of action. Machop had already been working at loosening his binds, and had been helped a few turns ago when the Spinarak had shot Poison Sting at him; they had cut through some of the silk. Now, with your encouragement, Machop ignored the pain of the resulting poison and gave a great heave. There was a moment when nothing happened, and then suddenly his arms were free! The silk still stuck or hung on him in places, but he ripped it from his legs and arms for full mobility. The remaining silk looked like some kind of strange clothing, but now it no longer held him, and Machop stepped forward with a grunt, ready to back his teammates up if you commanded it. Nido had just as much success with his String Shot predicament. String Shot wasn't the same as Constrict; it wasn't as powerful at keeping prey immobile. Nido took a breath, calmed like you told him to, and then sliced through the sticky mess with a well-placed Peck. The strands fell away, and he stood, also ready to resume the battle. His speed wasn't improved, of course, but that didn't mean he was useless... just easy to see coming. Velix was the only one commanded to continue attacking the Spinarak, and she turned towards the foe, taking a small, nervous gulp. The Spinarak clacked her mouthpieces together slightly, quite enjoying this battle, even though she would never admit it. She knew that Machop and Nido were free, now; this brought her foe number up to three! There was quite a thrill in being outnumbered, but still dealing plenty of damage. She had only been trying to get on with her life, and then you come along and... Whilst she was angrily reminiscing, Velix powered up an Energy Ball and hurled it right at the spider, managing to take her by surprise. Not anticipating the pokéball which was now flying right at her, the spider gave a hurt, then a furious cry, and shot off a single Poison Sting just as the pokéball struck her. You could see her blink in surprise as she was engulfed by the light, and Velix cried out slightly as yet more poison hit her. She was happy to see the end of that spider, though of course... if your capture was successful, she'd be seeing a lot more of it... That last Energy Ball had tipped the balance in your favour; though the Spinarak still had plenty of fighting spirit, you had taken her wholly by surprise, and her health was just enough depleted that the pokéball worked. The ball had shaken many times, though, as the spider realised what had happened and fought against it, but it was too late. She was done. CONGRATULATIONS was caught! She has been added to your profile. |

Surprised at his own luck, Kaz rejoiced. He ran over and picked up Spinarack's pokeball. He had successfully captured a pokemon he wanted. Nido and Machop had been training prior to this battle, but seeing them now, Kaz knew they were tired. "You did great. All three of you. It is time for a rest." Kaz smiled, and one by one, returned his three victorious pokemon to their pokeballs. He wasn't quite down though. With a new pokemon, it only meant more of a battle tactic. Plus tutoring. But again, all the pokemon were tired and he'd have to heal them. He looked around to determine the direction to the town. He started walking, hoping it would take him there. His aim: the pokecenter. His item rations were low, and he'd need to stop at the local 'mart before leaving for another adventure. |

So off to the Pokémon Center we are. You gathered up your Pokémon, including the new Spinarak you had just obtained and made your way in the direction you felt was a Pokémon Center. Hopefully you walked in the right direction, because it would suck to have to battle again with all of those tired Pokémon. It was a decent day out. The sun shined down on you, but was accompanied by a nice breeze so it wasn't too hot or cold. As you walked you could feel the air getting smoggier and it was getting harder to breathe in. Perhaps this was a sign that you were getting closer to town? Either that or there was a bike gang up ahead. Continuing to walk through the not so fresh air, you began to notice large building in the distance. It seemed that your judgment with direction is quite good, congratulations that may come in handy in the long run. Either way, watching the buildings get larger and larger as you got closer made you very happy and you began to pick up your pace to a slow jog to get you to your destination faster. Hell, there was valuable training time and yours wasn't about to be wasted at some Pokémon center all day. Your jog came to a halt when you found yourself standing in front of the Pokémon Center. And just your luck, next to it was the Millenia Mart. Looks like your killed two birds with one stone. First up was the Pokémon Center, and you were met by the ever so popular Nurse Joy. She took your Pokémon to the back room and about one minute later came out and handed them back to you. "Thank you, come again. Oh and be careful!" Nurse joy said with one of her signature smiles. Well, your Pokémon are healed. Now you can play around on the PC and deposit or withdraw some if you need to, or you can head over to that Mart next door. Or do neither; it’s your journey so you make the decisions! |

Kazuki was grateful of Nurse Joy for healing his pokemon. Lucky that he picked this direction, but also so lucky that his next destination was right next door. This is perfect for Kazuki. He took his pokemon back, said thank you, and left. Outside, he glanced around to see if he'd make another stop somewhere. The pokemart was the only place left, and then maybe back to training. He walked to the 'mart and went in. He had an idea of what he wanted. He looked in his pocket, and noticed his money. Thankful for how much he did have, but he wanted more. Well, his budget was good enough and his shopping list could be done. Walking around, isle to isle, he picked up about four pkeballs, and about four potions. He had never purchased anything before but felt good to stock up. To him, he had his team for right now. Unless a wanted pokemon came, he had no interest in catching other pokemon. He walked up to the counter with his items, and took out his money after he placed them on the counter to free his hand. Purchasing them was easy, and he put them away and walked out. Back outside, he noticed he only had a little money left but that was ok. These items were going to be put through good use. He felt like walking the way he did. Nido and Machop's training wasn't done. This time, maybe he would teach Velix or Spinarak a move. Starting to walk back, he just hoped to find a battle or ease with finding the spot. |

Your shopping done, your mind seemed to be on continuing the move tutors. You were moving back the way you came, back to the tree where you'd found your newly caught Spinarak. I wonder how she'll like this turn of events? I suppose we will find out when you first bring her out. You had to pass by some of Millenia's streets first, though, and it seemed as though they wanted to nab you before you could leave. "Pssst," a hushed, deep voice called to you, automatically turning your head. You were walking down a slightly quieter road, with slightly taller buildings than normal, and tucked neatly in the space between two windows was a man and his stand. An Aipom sat quietly on his shoulder. The stand was simply decorated and simply built; it was merely wood, no higher than his waist, and covered in a white cloth. The man was tall, thin, and dressed in a combination of black and purple. On his back was a large cloak-like coat, which he used to cover most of his movements; on his head was a sleek top hat. He was cleanly shaven, but there was something dirty and dingy about his entire being. The smile he wore was almost too friendly. He beckoned you closer, which you didn't really have to comply with, since you were walking on the same side of the road. You did, however, pause for just a moment as you passed him; a closer look couldn't hurt, surely? He might have something interesting to say, but you hadn't forgotten your intentions, and you didn't want to let him waste your time. He seemed to anticipate this; most people probably didn't stop for him. "I'll make it worth your while," he said quickly, elaborately moving his hands beneath his cloak and then bringing them forwards; in his two palms were three simple pokéballs. "Keep your eyes on these," he said, placing them on the table one next to the other, in a neat row of three in front of you. The Aipom made small noises in anticipation as the man did his best to keep your attention; flamboyantly waving his hand over the pokéballs, he deftly pressed the button on the middle one. A flash of light later revealed a very small Rattata, who sniffed at the air around her before being returned to the pokéball. The man gently tapped the Rattata's pokéball, grinning at you. "$20 are at stake. If you can pick the right pokéball - little Nibbly's - then I'll give you the $20." With that, he began to shift the three pokéballs around. He picked the Rattata's ball up first, and replaced it with the right hand side one. He then switched what was now the middle and left ones. Then he took the two on the ends and swapped their positions. He then picked up the right-most ball and placed it on the far left. He then dragged the middle ball to the extreme right, and then grabbed the newly-middle ball and took that to the right. He then reversed the order, by taking the middle ball to the left, and then placing the right-hand ball to the extreme left. Stopping, he leant back, and indicated to you that you needed to make your choice. Which ball contains the Rattata? All descriptions are from your point of view, not his; the 'left' and 'right' correspond to your view.

Kazuki thought of the man's game as weird, but had played similar games like this using a ball under a cup. So it was pretty much the same, aside from the cups being pokeballs, and the "ball" was a pokemon. He wished he could have picked the rat's ball and kept it. However, the money was good enough. He needed to save up, so getting any kind of funds would help. Kaz tried very carefully to following the man's hands working. He tried doing it slower in his head, and found no choice but to speed up. The man definitely got the boy confused, and Kaz would give credit to that. When the man was done, Kaz used his fingers to try and trace the movements of the pokeball he thought had been the rat pokemon. He came to a conclusion after a couple of minutes. "I pick," Kaz pointed, "the middle pokeball!" He thought of it correct, and tried to play the movements over in his head several times within those minutes. Everything in his mind pointed to that middle ball. He just hoped he had some luck on his side. "Am I right?" He asked, anxious to know the answer. |

You could see the man's jaw clench as you made your choice. When you asked for the answer, to know if you were right, you could also see a small tic in his eye. His sudden quiet after his original extravagence pretty much gave you the answer; yes, you were right. He didn't seem to have expected you to be, though. Either his average 'customer' was as thick as a plank, or he had underestimated you. Either way, you were right, he wasn't happy, and it didn't look as though he was going to keep up his part of the bargain - which he had forced upon you. All in all, not a pleasant guy, though he did seem to be holding back. There was a moment when he contemplated his next move; he could simply play again and up the stakes, or... he could just do the obvious. "You are right, dear child," he said, some of his theatrical enthusiasm returning to his voice. "But it'd be no fun for it to all end right now, would it?" His eyes flickered down to your bag, and your overall appearance; it was undeniable that you looked like a trainer. And what was the most basic form of 'contest' between trainers, after all? "Let's do away with these silly games," he said, dismissively waving at the three pokéballs on the table, "and get to something more traditional. The stakes... will be $120; that's including those from the last game. Winner takes all." Bringing his hand to his shoulder, he bent his forefinger slightly, gesturing for the Aipom on his shoulder to come forwards. The monkey-like pokémon gave an eager chirp and climbed down the man's front in order to jump onto the white table. "Will you join me?" the man said, and gave a small bow, but there was something a little nasty about the way he smiled at you, waiting for you to make a move. He was determined to make some money off of you. Would you let it be that easy for him? FIGHT! Lv 9

Kaz had a strange feeling of what was happening as he seen the guy's expression change. As the man started to talk, Kaz was already figuring out what pokemon to use. No one in this world, who had pokemon, did things the easy way. No; pokemon were always the subject to the human's fighting. Well, so be it. Kaz's pokemon were his friends, and they'd fight for him and any cause he told them. Being challenged at that point, Kaz nodded to accept. He looked the way he came, ran a few paces in that direction. He stopped and turned at the guy and tried to finish the decision of what pokemon to use. "Aipom, eh? Is he the only pokemon you'll be using?" Kaz wanted to know, and he wasn't too worried. His pokemon were close to beating the spinarak that he just added to the team. His first choice would either be Machop or Nido. He had to pick one, and the desire to have Nido one day evolve to his fullest form was beginning to overwhelm the boy's mind. "Go, Nido!" Kaz threw the pokeball in front of him. As it bounced, a red light bursted out and formed his pokemon, Nido. "Nido!" The pokemon said, giving Kaz the 'OK' for orders. The Sludge Bomb wasn't fully mastered, and this might be a good time to start the tutor back. "Nido, use Toxic, ball it in your mouth. Shoot it at Aipom. Let's finish the tutor!" Kaz smiled at his pokemon, hoping it the best. |

"We'll see how the first round goes. No harm in using a second pokémon, eh?" You knew he had a Rattata, at least, but didn't know her level. You also didn't know if he had any other pokémon stashed on him, and, considering his determination to win, it was likely that he planned to use everything at his disposal to fight you. You were right, of course; those with pokémon rarely sought settlement any way other than with a fight. You sent out Nido, equally matched in terms of level, against the man's Aipom, who clapped his little hands together eagerly and hopped down from the table. Nido's Rivalry meant that he was immediately on edge and ready to fight harder; he growled softly at his new foe, and shifted his weight from foot to foot in equal anticipation of battle. You effectively began the battle by issuing your command; the Nidoran, remembering his past attempts, began to form the toxic muck in his mouth. The shady man pointed at Nido, and calmly said, "use Astonish." The Aipom moved faster than seemed possible; the next you knew, he was on your side of the 'battlefield', and gave Nido an nasty smack. As a result, the poison-type shot out the Sludge Bomb before he was ready, but it didn't seem to matter; the attack hit the Aipom on the back as he was returning to his owner, causing him to stumble. The monkey cried out angrily, and had to rebalance himself, spinning on the spot to face Nido. The sludge, having failed to form a hardened bomb, dripped from his back. The prolonged contact gave you an immediate advantage; the Aipom was poisoned. The man gave another softly spoken command. Chattering his teeth, the monkey Focused on his attack, and prepared for the next round.
