Kazuki was fortunate! He had let Nido take the lead, as it was Nido in the battle. It was time to not just get back to the battle, but start the move tutoring. Nido seemed to get it mostly down pat! It was good for a first time tutor, but Nido had to work on the accuracy.

"Nido! Focus energy and Peck. Do it just like before, and go after Koffing."

That combo had seemed to work moments ago, in the Pokemon Center. Although Horn Attack did not seem so difficult, Kaz was wondering what else he could teach Nido.

That charcoal, the one he just got from the giveaway, would prove useless. Nido was a poison type, among all. Machop, a ground and/or fighting; Velix was, as Kaz thought, maybe Normal type. To put that item to good use, Kaz would be sure to add a fire type to the party later. Right now, Nido's battle and Horn Attack.

Back to the same tactics now, huh? The last time you saw the Koffing, it damn near took Nidoran out in two hits. Speaking of two hits, you do know that you can attack twice each turn during the entire battle, and three times in the same turn once per battle? That last part may be the key for winning this battle, just a tip....

Nidoran began the round out, charging at it with it's horn straight forward. It began glowing once more like it had in the Pokemon Center, whiter then before, but still not perfect. It rammed into Koffing, sending it tumbling to the ground. The move was overall perfect, but it still lacked somewhat in power. One more try should do the trick, though. Sometimes the best way to finish something is to just plainly keep trying until it finally works

It quickly floated back up, and blasted the small rabbit with two more Psybeams. The type advantage that the move held over Nidoran was beginning to show, and this battle would end quickly if nothing new was done. Two completed Horn Attacks should be able to take it down, though will you be able to complete it in time?

Another little tipoff, Nidoran knows a non-damaging move right now that if used, could easily aid it in finishing the power for Horn Attack. Not going to tell you what it is, but... Come on, it only knows two attacks that don't do damage. The answer should be blatantly obvious...

Majin was getting worried right now. He didn't want to use such a useful potion just yet. Majin had a plan, a course of action he wanted to try for some time. Nido had a chance to do three attacks per turn, once in battle? Nice.

"Nido! Use leer first! Lower his defense. Than use focus energy and focus it into your horn, while maintaining a peck! Attack Koffing!"
"Go Velix!"

The small pokemon was very weak compared to both of the other combatants. However, it was time to try and level her up! The next course was to have her attack. Now, Majin wasn't going to try and teach her any moves... Not right now, if anything. This was her first attack to perform and Majin was going to try and push that a little and try for two attacks.

"Velix. Try using two energy balls!"

With Nido using his attacks, and hopefully going to learn Horn Attack, he hoped that with that with Nido's attacks and than Velix's attacks, that the Koffing would be overcome him and defeat him. If Koffing was still able to fight, after this, Majin would not go easy. Not at all! He'd send Nido and Velix in the finish him.

It was time that this battle drew to a close, don'cha think? I mean, with your Nidoran very much tired and the Koffing with nearly twice as much HP as him... it wasn't looking good for you. Regardless, let's just get to the battle: Shall we?

With your commands set, Nidoran's eyes began to flow a bright red in color as it looked onward to Koffing who was simply floating aimlessly, assuming your Nidoran would've quit by now. However, he looked into the rodents eyes and immediately his body was filled with a chilling sensation as his defense fell.

After a moment, Koffing got right back into the game while Nidoran charged his horn. He prepared a Psybeam ahead of his mouth, watching as Nidoran's horn became longer and more powerful as he FOCUSED ENERGY. Suddenly, you released your Velix who jumped around happily for a moment until it heard your voice and tilted its head in confusion. Evidently, she was still far too young to quite understand what you wanted her to do, tough luck!

However, she did notice Koffing charging up its attack and felt curiosity peak. She opened her mouth and the pikes on her back rose up, immediately she started to feel the increase in energy as a smaller, much less stable, ball of energy formed in her mouth. Prematurely, she released the ball of energy, striking a few feet away from Koffing who was distracted long enough to stop charging Psybeam for a few moments.

"NIDO!" Your Nidoran suddenly appeared, ramming Koffing in the side with its horn, now stablized with additional energy, knocking the gaseous pokemon to the ground briefly as Velix continued to play around with her newly discovered toy, this time successfully landing a hit on Koffing.

Nido finally learned the attack and Kazuki let a smile show on his face. With Velix, even though she about to not do the attack, but did. It made Kazuki look at this battle in a better view, as if he was so close to victory. Now, just on the brink of winning or maybe still losing, Kazuki had to think of his final instructions.

"Here, take this Nido."

Nido looked back as Kaz plugged in a TM. He pressed a button or two and then it was ready. He knelt down and a spray scattered in the air and covered Nido. Now, knowing Toxic, Nido would be in better use for other opponents, but this opponent was his same type and it probably had no hope of working.

"You both know what to do! Velix, Energy ball! Nido, use Horn Attack twice!"

Kaz could only hope Velix worked it out. And Nido, had the ability to use that attack without the hardship of trying. It came with ease to him, as would the move Toxic. At last, this battle was going to hopefully be done and the team could try and figure out their next move. Velix would definitely need more training.

So, this fight was finally coming to an end, and with good timing. The Koffing now seemed tired and weak, and it appeared a bit overwhelmed facing two Pokémon now. But this Koffing was persistent, and it wasn’t going down without a fight. Koffing let out a cloud of poisonous gas; lucky for you and your Pokémon that the area immediately around is open and well ventilated. The Velix heard your command, and still didn’t really put two and two together to understand that Energy Ball meant to do that same thing she had done before. Instead, she used Energy Ball simply because she found it fun. Again, the spikes on her back rose up and the immediate rush of energy almost cause her to release it right away. But this time she held just a little bit longer. The ball of energy she releases still wasn’t to its full potential, but it was definitely stronger then last time.

The ball of energy struck home, leaving the Koffing staggering and open for an attack. Nidoran seemed to understand and see the opportunity. Despite the cloud of poison, he charged onwards and hit Koffing dead on with its horn. Lucky for you he avoided getting poisoned. The Koffing was clearly knocked out. After all you went through, including healing your Nidoran to battle this Koffing twice, what would you do next? You could catch it, thought your initial intentions weren’t to do so. Surely you could see that Koffing was worthy of being on your team. But perhaps not? It’s up to you to decide what to do next, and where to go.

Definitely proud of his pokemon, Kazuki just looked at the defeated Koffing. He tried thinking of what to do. The Koffing HAD put up a good fight, and would complement Nido, as in types. However, he had two pokeballs left and never knew when he'd be able to buy some more. The decision scrambled in his head for a few moments.

"That was great," He praised his pokemon, "Look how much you've both grown in strength. Velix is still young but he has one hell of a good Energy Ball. Maybe you'll be more then I thought." Kazuki finally came around to accepting her to the team.

As for the Koffing, he still didn't know. He leaned towards no. The lingering factor of more friends, more help, resided in his mind. He couldn't.

"Koffing. You put up a good fight. I know you just wanted to be caught, but, I can't. You could help but I'm going to be looking for other additions."

With that, Kazuki withdrew his Nidoran and Velix into their pokeballs. He turned, and walked off towards where he thought Millenia Town was. He was going to eventually look for pokemon or start tutoring again.

So after a fairly tame battle that got your Velix to a pretty high level, it was fair to say that things were going to get boring. With the thrill of battle over there wasn't anything to do except keep walking in hopes of getting close to Millenia by nightfall. If not you would have to find someplace to take shelter, perhaps a cave, or under a tree. However for the time being there was still a little while to nightfall, so you had plenty of time to walk the beaten path to get to the town.

Anyway walking along the path, the trees seemed to shake as the wind blew past. At first you thought you saw a shadow, but disregarded it as being a pokemon going to it's home. However after awhile it seemed as though something was following you, watching you even. Looking around though you could see nothing. What else was there to do but keep walking. I mean you could investigate, but if it was nothing then you would look pretty silly, and besides you weren't completely alone out here. There were a few wild pokemon scattered about, and voices of trainers could be heard in the distance. Maybe that meant you were close to the town. Whatever it meant, you were heading towards the voices.

Without warning one of the nearby trees was struck with a sudden bolt of lightning, a bolt that could only have come from a pokemon. As the tree fell, a man could be seen balancing on the trunk. As it hit the floor he jumped into the air and landed a few inches in front of the fallen trunk.

"AHAHAHAH What a magnificent entrance if I do say so myself. Look at you there boy, you're speechless. How would you like to be my new sidekick? Your first task is to find me HAHAHAHA!!" The man shouted, and with that he sped off...yeah anyway back to what business. Nut jobs aside you had to get to Millenia. It doesn't look like you're far now, in fact I think I see the pokemon center.

Kazuki's first course he wanted to take was getting to town. His hopes of possibly purchasing items may have been slim, and that was due to inexperience he had in shopping. Nido and Velix could use a quick fix. Kaz's thirst to train was hard to hold back. Getting Nido stronger was a primary goal. He had a desire to obtain a Nidorino, and then a Nidoking. Velix and Machop would come next. However, he seen this spot as an opportunity. Sludge Bomb was a good move to teach Nido, and the trees that were around could aid as some targets.

"Go, Nido!" Kazuki took the ball from his belt, pressed the button, and watched it open and release his pokemon. As the pokemon appeared from the red light, Kaz planned the course of action. "Ok, Nido, we're going to do some training. Sludge Bomb is the next move you need to learn." He pointed to a tree, "Use that one."

"Nido." Nidoran called out, and went towards the tree. His aim for this round was focusing on the move.

"Use Focus Energy and Toxic. The Toxic is for the poison going for the bomb, and focus energy to maintain it. Squirt it at the tree for a feel of the Toxic attack." He commanded his pokemon wish ease, "Go, machop!" He released his second pokemon. "You'll be learning Focus Punch. Use two Focus Energies and try to maintain them in your fist. When you can't hold it, punch the tree."

The machop moved over towards a second tree. Both pokemon had moves to learn and Kaz thought of teaching Velix, but he didn't know how he'd handle the two that are out now!

Sludge Bomb and Focus Punch? They're two powerful moves, that require time and patience to teach. Hopefully you have interesting and creative ideas for them, or commitment. Well, as time goes on we'll find out, won't we? You ordered your commands to your Pokémon, as they listened to your explanation closely. Absorbing every word, they thought they were ready. Let's find out.

Nidoran went first. It did as you commanded, focusing itself, using Focus Energy. It then followed with Toxic at the tree. Squirting out the purplish, poison liquid, it certainly was Toxic. However, it didn't really contribute to learning Sludge Bomb at all, as it was basically just using two moves at once. Now then, onto Machop's learning of Focus Punch, which will hopefully go better.

Machop did as you commanded, using Focus Energy in. . . It's fist? I'm not sure that's how Focus Energy works, but Machop did as commanded. It tried to focus it in his arm, and for the first one, kind of failed. The second one, it managed to focus it more in his arm, but it wasn't perfect. Machop stood still, trying to put all his strength into his fist.

Then, he punched the tree. It shook a little, but not a lot else seemed to happen. It had potential to learn it, but there was still some things to work out. So now what'll you do? Continue Move Tutoring, stop and do something else, or both? Have fun.

After seeing how his pokemon did, Kazuki wasn't surprised. As for Nido, he already knew neither moves would have truly gone towards Sludge Bomb, but now it is the chance. He had to figure out the exactly plans for Nido. Whether to build up the toxic and try to form it into a ball, or what. It was getting kind of difficult already; Kazuki's determination was strong though.

"Nido, try using Toxic and attempt to hold it in your mouth. Maybe try and use your tongue to spin it in a ball shape. When you can't hold it any longer, try spitting it. I'd imagine the bomb to be round, so, give it a practice round."

Now for Machop. As he may not have had the best luck keeping energy in his arm, or fist, the Focus Punch was definitely going to be a tricky one. Kaz had to take to think of this one as well. Let's see, using Focus Energy might work, but if he kept failing then it would get no wheres.

"Try using Focus Energy in your arm again. Try to really focus some energy on your fist and just punch the tree. We need this attack to be accuracte so pick the spot you punched just now, and keep focusing on that point to be your target."

This is going to be harder then how it is said. Velix had jumped in levels, and Machop was the only one not really used in a battle. The Focus Punch, as Kaz thought of it, would be a great addition to his move set. Having a strong attack like that could surely be a finisher. Nido, already having Toxic, could use Sludge Bomb to keep that poison going on his foe, and even damage them.

The more detailed explanation helped Nido a lot. Now that he wasn't just doing Focus Energy and then Toxic, he could concentrate on amalgamating the attacks and setting the seeds for Sludge Bomb. He began to make the toxic mush in his mouth, as you had suggested, but didn't get far. His mouth wasn't really very big, and though he was a poison, the taste of sludge isn't pleasant for anyone. He spat it out, the misshapen glob oozing all over the grass, and stared at it. Frowning, he put out his tongue, and considered how to do that better. Now that he knew what to expect, as regards the taste, he began to generate more of the sludge, but kept it to a small quantity. He tried to use his mouth to form it into a ball, but it wasn't as easy as it sounds, and when he projected it from his mouth, it splattered on the bark of the targeted tree. He cocked his head at it, and frowned. It wasn't perfect, but at least it wasn't just a Toxic. It hadn't hardened mid-air, nor really formed a ball, or 'bomb' of any kind. That would require more practice, but it was a decent start.

Machop, frustrated that his last efforts hadn't been very effective, listened to you in silence. He grunted, to let you know that he understood the command, and looked down at his left arm as he gently flexed it. He knew he could do this, he just needed some... oomph.

Since he wasn't quite adept at Focusing specifically in his arm, Machop just let the Energy flow into his entire being. This guaranteed that he would be under its effects, and traditional Focus Energy never hurt anyone. Walking up to the tree, he placed his palm gently on the spot he intended on beating, and closed his eyes. With his body under the effect of a general Focus Energy, he tried to concentrate on the feeling of it specifically in his arm. Bouncing his closed fist slowly in the air, he stepped back and WHAM - punched that spot in the tree with all his might. The tree gave a great shudder, much more than last time, and then a low groan. Machop just stood there for a moment, his fist touching the bark where he had punched it, and slowly looked up.

There was an angry squeal, and then suddenly a pokémon fell out of the tree and landed right behind the mildly surprised Machop. Having landed on her head, it was no surprise that the Spinarak was dazed and extremely unhappy. Scrambling ungracefully to her eight feet, she turned about and started to rant at the offending Machop, having failed to notice you at all. The face-like markings on her back bore a matching expression on the spider's actual face; pissed off. Machop, ever cool, merely blinked back at her, slowly lowering his fist back to his side. Glancing up at you, he gave you an expression which clearly said 'what now?'

"Perfect." Kaz mumbled. He let out a small smile. "Nido, focus energy and toxic. Round it, or try, and fire it at that pokemon." He pointed for the spider, letting Nido focus his attentions at the new enemy. "Machop, use your training on the pokemon too." He'd eventually try and capture the spider. It was very lucky to have been training and encounter a pokemon he wants. What luck!

He couldn't believe it. The thought raced through his head. Tutoring two pokemon were hard, and it wasn't adept at it. But how fortunate was it to run into a wanted pokemon. Kaz could NOT let this pokemon slip through his hands. The boy reached onto his belt and clicked a pokeball off. He looked around, only to notice he was low. Where was that pokemart!?

Your pokémon were quite happy to continue move tutoring on the Spinarak. The wild spider was completely oblivious, still chirping angrily at Machop, as Nido slowly went through the motions of Sludge Bomb. Again, he began to generate the toxic nastiness as a ball in his mouth. As an experiment, he opened his mouth, and let the sphere of sludge form larger than his mouth could hold. This served the beneficial purpose of letting the surface harden a little, which was the ultimate goal of the spherical sludge. Satisfied that he couldn't improve it anymore, he hurled the ball from his mouth, and it landed squarely on the Spinarak's back. It didn't really 'explode' on contact, nor was it as potent as he would have liked. More practice, I think.

It certainly did get the attention of the Spinarak, however, who immediately stopped ranting at Machop to turn slowly around. The look in her eye was bemused, which slowly turned to fury. First you knock her out of her tree, and now you attack her?! What the hell were your manners like? Pissed off, but not expecting for this to degenerate into a full-blown battle, the spider chose just to pull a nasty face - more specifically, a Scary Face - at Nido, which startled him and froze him to the spot. However, you had told Machop to practice on her as well... so this was pretty much likely to turn into a proper battle. Or was it?

Focus Energying once more, he lifted his fist to his face and concentrated specifically on the strength in his bicep. Since the Spinarak was now facing away from him, she made for an easy target; lunging quietly, he slammed his Fighting-energy-focused fist into her backside. The effort sent her tumbling forwards, over her face once, but she quickly recovered from the mediocre move; in truth, it had barely scratched her. Spinning about to face the Machop now, her tempter flaring even more, she instantly sent out threads of silk and Constricted your fighting pokémon right up. With Nido frightened, and frozen to the spot, and Machop momentarily tied up, the Spinarak seemed content. Giving a "Spiiin," which was quite clearly a Spinarak version of 'hmph', she left the battle before it had even really begun, and started to climb back up into the tree she had been unceremoniously knocked out of in the first place.

You don't need to request me specifically for this :3 Also! A hint for improving the length of your posts is not to start typing/reacting from the very last thing which happened in this ref. For example, rather than start with 'Kazuki was pissed off that the Spinarak was leaving', start with 'Kazuki was amused by how irritated the Spinarak was, and watched as Nido shot a Sludge Bomb at her'. Start with the beginning of the ref, and react to what happens. It'll help improve your posts, but also your character development, as you'll have a chance to have your character grow and respond to the things which happen. Think about it; during my refs, your character doesn't just stand there dumbfoundedly, does he? He watches, he observes, he thinks. I know you don't write like this all the time, and I'm not trying to 'have a go', I'm just trying to be helpful; if I can help you to enjoy your posts more, and get more out of them, then it'll be more fun for the person reffing you too. Kaz was surprised Nido was doing well in improving the Sludge Bomb. He was running out of ideas on how to improve it, and maybe he should've thought about it before hand. Oh well, they were getting close to half way there and couldn't stop now! He watched as Nido sort of froze in place from the attack the spider did. Even Kaz kind of got startled, seeing something like that. It was unfortunate that Nido was caught, because who knows if he could attack from this point on. It might take a while, which Kaz surely hoped it wouldn't.

"Nido, attempt to form the sludge bomb again! You had it good, so keep focus on it like that--ya know, have it form outside your mouth, to harden." Kaz tried to give his pokemon orders, but having to keep his attention on both was coming into play. Having to worry about two might just be too much for the boy.

His eye was caught as Machop had performed his attack. From the looks of it, Kazuki thought it would do more damage. The spider crawled away fine after recovering its ground. Great, the attack didn't do much and now the pokemon, Machop, can't move. How unlucky has Kaz gotten this round. But it wasn't over yet. Both pokemon were tied down with problems, so their was only a single solution to catching that spider!

"Machop, you can't move, so take it easy." Kazuki clipped off another pokeball. The pokemon inside was Velix! "Go, Velix!" The boy tossed the pokeball, which landed a yard away from him, opened, and released red light. The red light formed Velix and the small pokemon was still young but in her previous appearance, she had grown so much. She was at a higher level then Kazuki thought she'd become. "Velix! Energy Ball. Try two of them; we need that spider!"
