(Yay, a level up!)

Majin was amazed at what the Machop did and how he finished the battle. The boy heard the man fine but was interested in getting Nido to a pokecenter or atleast in the pokeball.

"Return." A light shined on Nido, absorbing him and returning him to his rightful ball.

He had still not said a word to the man and could probably tell it would go awkward if nothing would be said within seconds. But the boy couldn't help to think about bringing Machop along.

"I may take your job. However, you look like a business man that may own this place. May I take this Machop on my journey? If so, than I will listen and no doubt accept this job."

Majin tried to not be so awkward but he wasn't the best at speaking with people. The Machop would make a great asset to his team but for him to evolve to his fullest level, there would need patience and maybe a difficult task. Either way, Nido had leveled up with the help of Machop. Machop quickly caught up to Nido's power, no doubt. Of course, Majin would be delighted to add this fighting Pokémon to the team. He'd be one step closer to a dream team that he had quickly thought of.

Majin was going to aim for those Pokémon that made the dream team complete, and may catch some cool Pokémon on the way, but focus more on the dream team. Nido and Machop, two Pokémon that made a powerhouse duo.

Machop looked up at you and he was beaming. He heard that you wanted to take him along and he'd never felt such a strong sense of purpose. He looked pleadingly at the uncaring businessman. The short fat man looked down at him before quickly responding. "Huh? Oh, right, the Machop. Yeah, sure, whatever, I don't care he was really just dead weight." Machop smiled widely and jumped, pumping his fist in the air-wait, dead weight? Whatever, he didn't care. All he cared about was that now he had two new friends and would be journeying with you from now on. You presented him with a Pokeball into which he happily jumped.

The man cleared his throat and your attention returned to him. "Yes, yes, new friends are all fine and dandy, but on to my proposition. You see, I am a purveyor of certain...goods. And a short time ago a thief came and stole on of my goods, very valuable goods. Naturally me and my associates tracked down this thief and chased after him. Unfortunately, due to certain...circumstances, we are unable to leave Millenia Town. We've tracked the thief to be somewhere along Route 3. Your job is to find him and return my stolen goods. You up to it?"

Tracking a thief? Wouldn't that be dangerous. The look on your face must've given away this thought, and the man swiftly began speaking again. "Don't worry, this thief isn't very strong, just sneaky enough to evade me and my associates as well as my security system. From the way I saw you handling your Pokemon I'm sure you'll easily be able to handle him." Well, this seemed pretty reasonable. It would be a great way to explore and allow your Pokemon to get experience. The man seemed desperate to get his goods back. He started speaking again before you could even accept (or decline) the job.

"Of course you're efforts won't go unrewarded. If you manage to complete this mission you will be given this lovely Velix along with $400." The man took out a Pokeball and released a male Velix. It looked about as strong as Nido and Machop, and it was a fairly powerful Pokemon. The man quickly withdrew the Velix. "So kid, waddaya say?" With rewards like that how can you say no? Besides, adventure and excitement were bound to come from accepting this task.

The deed sounded wonderful. It was about time that Majin felt he get out of Millenia Town. However, he just got Machop and he likes to stick to the Pokémon he arranged for a Dream Team. This won't change a thing. The Velix could come in handy for a trade or when Machop or Nido become K.O'ed. The money sounded good, as well. He could use some of it for goods of his own at a local pokemart.

"Sounds good." Majin smiled, "You said Route 3, right? This'll be a breeze with this duo of Pokémon. Thank you, sir." Majin stuck out a hand in order for him and the business man to shake on it.

Before everything happened, and while he was talking, Majin wondered what Nido and Machop would think. Machop just heard this guy call him dead weight. How could such a cool Pokémon be that? However, Machop is part of the team now and Nido is ready for a good fight and has a friend. This thief would go done, they'd come back with the "goods" and gain another friend and some money.

The man shook your hand then waited for a second before getting a very impatient look on his face. "Well, what are you waiting for? My goods are somewhere on Route 3! Get moving, don't just stare at your feet! Go!" Well, his mood changed very quickly. You shouldn't keep the man waiting. Who knows what he could do next. His temper seemed to dampen as quickly as it flared, and he quickly beamed a wide smile. "But where are my manners? I'm sorry, my doctor says I need to keep my temper under control. Bad for the ol' ticker. Here, let me see your Pokemon for a second." You released Nido and Machop and the man sprayed them each with a Hyper Potion and they looked stronger than before. "Can't have you running off and getting defeated, now can we? Now get going, I'm not paying you to stand around!"

Both your Pokemon returned to you and you ran off towards Route 3. What a strange man. One minute he's smiling wider than a Hiker, and the next he's fuming and barking orders at you. Walking past all the tall buildings and busy streets of Millenia Town you saw countless faces. Most just passed by you in such a hurry they didn't even acknowledge your existence. For a shy boy like you this isn't really the best environment to live in. Perhaps you should consider moving to Nogou Village. The tranquility of the forest is almost as beautiful as the nature itself. But here I am rambling about Nogou when you're here in the bustling metropolitan of Millenia Town. Well, you were in Millenia Town.

Around you you could see the end of civilization as you left the city behind you and walked into pure untamed wilderness. On one side of you was a wall of trees, the other a vast ocean. You walked along a path between the two elements of earth and water, so close to each other they could almost touch. About ten feet away from the path was a sheer drop of about fifteen feet onto a sandy beach. The cliff followed the dirt path as far as you could see. An equal distance to your other side was the aforementioned wall of trees. Beyond was a dark forest, inhabited by bug and grass Pokemon and the occasional Pokemon trainer. The world was full of wonder, and it was yours to uncover.

After about fifteen minutes of walking the city was far behind you, the tallest towers just barely visible in the distance. You could hear the waves crashing to your right and the forest chirping and buzzing to your left. You came across some Pokemon that didn't look native to either the forest or the ocean. They saw you and moved in front of you as if you block your way. A man came out of the forest with a wicked smirk on his face. Was he the thief? No, he didn't look smart enough to have evaded the businessman's security. His shirt was torn and his jeans were ripped into shorts. He was far too dirty to have been anywhere near the city in the last little while.

"Hey kid, give me your Pokemon and nobody gets hurt!" You couldn't possibly part with Nido and Machop! Looks like you'll have no choice but to battle him to get past him. Why he would want your Pokemon is a mystery to me, his seem pretty tough. Oh well, who am I to try to figure out the criminal psyche. His Pokemon hissed at you and looked poised to attack. You'd better get out your Pokemon quick, or this could turn ugly.

Majin was kind of shocked. He didn't expect any one to come out. He just wanted to find this thief, battle, and get out. The man's Pokémon did look tougher, tougher than Nido and Machop. However, they'd have to do. A three on two wouldn't be far but one thing was for sure, Machop and Nido's rising friendship would help them team better. They were just two pokeballs away.

"Go, Nido, Machop!"

Majin threw the pokeballs. As they hit the ground, the balls burst open and a red light materialized into the Pokémon Nidoran and Machop. Before the businessman had asked Majin, he was kind of planning on teaching Nido and Machop a move each. Those plans went down the drain and both only had two attacks.

It might be good to try a physical attack first. Before the foe could attack, Majin had to see which Pokémon he'd target. The Shuppet was strongest. Magnemite was weakest, leaving Gligar in the middle. They could try and take Shuppet out, making the weaker ones for last. Or, Majin thought, they'd take out the weakest so that way it wouldn't be in the way. Unfortunately, the weakest was at the same level of Nido and Machop. Knowing this battle was going to be rough, Majin stuck with his guy instinct.

"Nido! Use peck on Shuppet. Machop, help him out with Low Kick!"

Nido charged his horn until it turned white. Dashing in and cutting the distance between them. Machop followed. Nido's ability would hold his power back against Shuppet, which was a factor in the targetting selection. Machop's low kick would hopefully come in and make up for it.

(As I'm doing this, there is no way to try and learn a new move, right? I'd have to devote a whole topic to it?)

OOC: Just letting you know, you can use two attacks with each Pokemon per round. Just in case you didn't know.

Taking out the strongest opponent first was always a good strategy. Nido charged his horn and it glowed a dull white. He wasted no time charging at the Shuppet. The ghost gave a piercing Screech right as Nido rammed into her with his horn. His defense was significantly lowered by the attack, but he dealt some good damage of his own. Of course, his strength was halved against her due to his ability, but Machop would make up for it with his Low Kick, right?

Wrong. The Shuppet just stared at Machop as he ran up to her to use Low Kick. He got to her, swung his leg and...nothing. It passed right through her. Of course! Fighting and normal type moves don't effect ghost types! Unfortunately, this did not work the other way around, and ghost type moves did effect fighting types. "Shuppet, use a Night Shade on the Machop! Magnemite use Metal Sound on the Nidoran followed by Thundershock, and Gligar use Sand Attack on the both of them and then a Poison Sting on Machop!"

Shuppet was the first to act. Machop, still confused as to why his foot passed right through his target, was unable to defend against the two dark bolts that his him from behind. He was knocked onto the ground, but got up quickly enough. Magnemite flew towards Nido, who was a few feet away from Machop, and blasted him with a loud Metal Sound. The noise lowered Nido's special defenses, and caused the ensuing Thundershock to do more damage than normal. Machop decided to take matters into his own hands, and ran up to Magnemite. He jumped and kicked the floating metal thing, slamming him down to the ground. Magnemite floated back up and away from Nido and Machop.

Gligar saw that the two Pokemon were side by side and took this chance to swoop in and slap up a cloud of sand into their eyes. Both Pokemon's accuracy was lowered and Machop didn't see the poisonous barb flying towards him. The Poison Sting didn't do much damage and luckily Machop wasn't poisoned. All three of your opponent's Pokemon were floating a few feet away from yours. All were experienced battlers and knew each other's strengths and weaknesses. Looks like you'd have to rethink some of your tactics for this battle.

From their first attack, Majin could see this being very troublesome. Shuppet being a ghost type was going to make this battle very difficult. However, noticing Peck did damage, Nido would have to pursue her until she was finished. Machop proved useless for her. However, his fighting type had made Magnemite challenged. His fighting would prove useful against the electric type. All that they didn't know was Gligar. His moves, and his types would make it difficult. If Nido matched with Shuppet, aside from the half-damage, and Machop took Magnemite out, Gligar was left.

Majin had wanted to teach both of his Pokémon a new move. The moves he had in line would be very good to the battle. It'd change it around a bit more for Magnemite than the rest. However, that was the problem. It was a battle and the mood was already set. No way would they be able to train in a heated battle.

Right now, Magnemite might be the easiest to get out. Still, Majin had to take the thought of Nido's peck hurting the Shuppet. Could it work again, or would he be shot down? It had to tried out. Majin would switch targets. Machop would aim to take down Magnemite while Nido pursued Shuppet.

"Machop, use leer and a low kick on magnemite!" He looked over at Shuppet, than at Nido, "Nido, you use leer and a peck at Shuppet! Try your hardest!"

Setting specific targets is a good strategy, it allows your Pokemon to focus on one opponent and give their all. But in this case you have a third X factor to worry about. I'm sure you're Pokemon will find a way to handle Gligar, but you should be wary of him. Nido and Machop weren't very experienced battlers, so evading him might be a bit difficult. I'm sure they could do it though. They set off at once to perform their moves.

They both glared at their targets and gave almost simultaneous Leers, causing almost simultaneous defence drops. Both then ran at their opponents, thinking on their feet, using instinct mixed with your orders. Nido ran across the dirt path to Shuppet. "SHuppet, use Night Shade! If you miss use it again! Magnemite, use Metal Sound followed by a Thundershock on the Machop, and Gligar, use Poison Sting on each of them!" Shuppet fired a bolt of darkness at Nido. The Nidoran instinctively started zig-zagging his way to the ghost. Both Night Shades missed by about an inch. When he got to her he rammed her with his sharp white horn, causing some decent damage. Shuppet was knocked back a bit and Nido was feeling very proud of himself until he was hit from behind by a Poison Sting.

I told you Gligar would be troublesome if left alone. Regardless, the attack did very minor damage due to Nido's poison type. Nido turned to look for the attacker, but the flying scorpion was already gliding away. He flew towards Machop who was just finishing up with Magnemite. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First I should tell you what exactly happened with Machop and Magnemite.

Machop ran towards Magnemite a bit faster than Nido did to Shuppet. He planned on leaping up in the air before kicking down in an improvised Low Kick to deal extra damage to the floating magnet. He jumped up but was hit by a deafening Metal Sound followed by a quick Thundershock. The attack knocked Machop out of the air and onto the ground. He immediately jumped up and kicked Magnemite hard. The attack slammed it into the approaching Gligar, damaging both of them.

Gligar wasn't very happy with this. He circled Machop and when the fighter was sufficiently dizzy from trying to follow his movements, he lunged in for a close range Poison Sting. The damage wasn't very threatening, but Machop was poisoned from the attack. He ducked and weaved around them to return to Nido, who was back to your side. The two Pokemon had fought hard and given their all, and it seemed to be working. Your opponent was getting a bit frustrated, and it showed. Keep this up and you'll have this guy beat in no time.

"You both are doing great!" Majin cheered his Pokémon on.

Machop's health wasn't where Majin wanted it to be, but it was a battle. The boy knew that if Machop went early, Nido would fail, especially against three opponents and as mentioned, not enough battle experience. Remembering each Pokémon can perform two moves, maybe, just maybe, Machop could finish Magnemite.

"Machop! I want you to use Low Kick on Magnemite. Try it twice!"

Machop's target was set. Now for Nido. He hadn't done much to the Shuppet and now he thought to switch targets. Shuppet missed both Night Shades. Was it luck? Was it Nido's zig-zag instinct? It was good but that Gligar was too troublesome to let go. As a new strategy, they had to take Gligar out before Shuppet but Nido was the only one to be able to take Shuppet out. His target couldn't be switch.

"Nido, try Peck on Shuppet. Try it twice! You know you're the only one who can!" Majin felt a certain feeling within him. A worried feeling, but also a feeling of being sure. Shuppet was Nido's opponent because Machop didn't have a move to take her out. On the other side, Machop could take out his target, Magnemite, quicker than Nido could. If both low kicks connect with Magnemite, he might be done.

Right now, all Majin is hopping for is a victory. They're going to need a pokecenter after this, for sure.

Nido heard your words of encouragement and suddenly felt a power surge through him that he didn't think he had. The determination and drive within him was strengthened by your friendship and belief in him. He knew he could do it. With you and Machop by his side, he felt like he could do anything. His desire to defeat his opponent rose to new heights. He looked up at Shuppet and prepared his Peck. The ghost puppet was waiting for him.

"Shuppet, when that Nidoran gets close to you hit him with a Knock Off, then blast a Night Shade at him!" SHuppet nodded, waiting for her moment to strike. Nido charged at her, his drive fuelling his power. He leaped and slammed hard against Shuppet with his Peck! She took the hit, and went to use Knock Off. Nido rammed her with his second Peck right when the attack connected, causing both Pokemon to fall back a bit. Nido reacted faster, and barely managed to dodge the Night Shade. He felt accomplished for dealing the damage he had, and for not getting hit too hard.

Meanwhile, Machop was having his own battle with Magnemite. He charged at the floating magnet, ignoring the weak poison coursing through him. He jumped into the air, and slammed down with his foot. Magnemite was hit hard by the Low Kick, and he was knocked into the ground, dealing even more damage. He weakly floated back up. "Don't let that punk beat you! Use a Thundershock!" Magnemite did as he was told and used a Thundershock on Machop. The attack connected, dealing quite some damage. The little fighter shook off the pain and jumped once more for the final Low Kick. He slammed Magnemite hard, sending him flying! Unfortunately, the force of the impact hurt Machop's foot, injuring it.

Magnemite had no more strength to stop himself from hurtling into Shuppet. The ghost was not expecting to be struck by her companion, and Magnemite's steel body dealt a decent amount of damage to her. She shook her head to clear the pain. Machop stood on the ground, leaning most of his weight on his uninjured leg. He was panting, having lost quite some strength. The man saw this and used it to his advantage. "Gligar, swoop down to the Machop and use Poison Sting twice on his right leg!" Gligar smiled and snickered.

Machop was in no condition to dodge such an attack, and could quite possibly be knocked out by it. Nido saw Gligar flying for Machop, blood in the flying scorpion's eyes. The little guy dashed as fast as he could and threw himself between Machop and Gligar just in time! Both Poison Stings hit Nido, not doing much damage due to his poison type. This was an amazing display of camaraderie by your two Pokemon. They smiled at each other, then looked back to you, waiting for their next orders. With these two working together, you just might defeat this man.

It was a nice display of team work. Both had really done great. Majin was amazed at how much damage was dealt to Shuppet. Two pecks, a knock by her teammate. What a time! Gligar and Shuppet stood in their way of victory.

This turned into a difficult setting with Machop unable to use his leg. His dodging ability and hitting ability was gone. He had no other moves, and with his walking and/or running out of the question, it wasn't the time to try and tutor him a move. Instead, it was time to start his focus on Gligar.

"Machop, even though your leg is useless right now, use two leers on Gligar to lower his defense. If he gets close, try your best at dodging."

Nido was the open piece for winning. His poison type helped a bit when dealing with Gligar but the normal damage applied, not lessening much. Majin thought to tutor a move, preferably an easy one but there was no time!

"Nido, use two pecks on Shuppet. You've been doing great but put your all into this. We need to take her out first! Gligar comes second for you."

This might be trouble for you. With Machop basically out of commission, Nido was alone against these two. Well, with some clever tactics I'm sure you'll be able to make it. Lowering Gligar's defence for example is pretty smart. By putting Nido against Shuppet, you can get Machop to focus on constant Leers to kill Gligar's defence, allowing for an easy knock out when you finally turn your attention to him. Or at least that's what I would do. It's your battle, you can do whatever you want with it, it's just my job to tell you how it turns out.

Machop wasted no time getting in his two Leers, and Gligar was hit by both of them. A little pissed, he was about to swoop down and take him out. "Gligar, leave him, he's useless, don't waste your strength on him. Instead circle around the Nidoran and use a couple Poison Stings on him." Gligar looked upset that he wouldn't get to attack Machop, but he obeyed his orders. He swerved around and started circling Nido. He shot out a poisonous barb at him, but Nido dove to the side, rolling a bit. He just avoided the two attacks.

The man was getting frustrated now. "Shuppet, use two Night Shades on him, take him out!" Shuppet complied, blasting two dark bolts at Nido. The first attack hit, knocking Nido around a bit. Luckily, the second Night Shade missed because the first one had knocked Nido out of its way. Nido, not wanting to be defeated, immediately ran in and gave a strong Peck. Shuppet was dazed a bit, and then was hit again! Nido was giving this his all. You may just beat this guy.

Your Pokemon were holding out as best they could, but it wasn't looking too great for them. If they kept up their defences they just might be able to defeat Gligar and Shuppet. The ghost was looking pretty weak. One more round like that and she's be done. And if you kept lowering Gligar's defence like that, combined with Nido's ability he'd go down pretty quickly. Just keep on your toes and you could win this!

Majin thought about it and his opponent gave him the opening he might be able to really use. Leaving Machop was good for Majin. Even though his leg is our, he can still perform those leers. Nido looked like he was almost out but still kicking it strongly. Nice, Shuppet looked weak too.

"Nido! One more peck at Shuppet, than focus on Gligar. Really put in the effort for the peck going to Shuppet. She has to go before Gligar can be our last target."

His plan wasn't done. This was probably one of the last five, if they had that, turns left in this battle. Nido and Machop's health was pretty low. It'd be better if Machop was able to use that leg for some Low Kicks. Unfortunately, all they had was Nido's peck attack.

"Machop, hit Gligar with those leers of yours. Keep lowering his defense for when Nido attacks him."

Gligar's health, by the looks of his body, was pretty good. Barely a mark from the time he was merely bumped. If they could just pull this off, it'd be amazingly good for the both of them and good to finish their first task in their new journey. This battle came close because they were inexperiences and not very stocked with moves. After this, Majin was sure he'd help them learn a move or two somehow. Although, before teaching them anything, they needed to visit that Pokémon Center.

Things are starting to look a bit better for you. Not necessarily great, or even good, but better. Nido knew that if he gave Shuppet one more chance to attack he'd be finished. He bolted for the ghost as fast as he could and leaped a mighty leap. His horn glowed white, filled with power and determination. Shuppet was so taken aback by Nido's speed that she had no time to react. He neared her, closer and closer until...direct hit! She was out cold! Now it was down to Gligar. Hopefully Nido would have the strength to take him down.

While Nido was giving his heroic Peck, Machop was having some trouble with Gligar. He gave his first Leer no problem, but Gligar was pissed. He swooped down to get the fighter and Machop tried to hop backwards, but he tripped and landed flat on his back. He was defenceless! Gligar got in close and gave an unavoidable Poison Sting. Machop was just barely fighting through! He managed to get in his second Leer and Gligar was about to finish him off when..."GLigar, look out!" But it was too late.

Nido had charged Gligar and slammed him hard with a Peck. The attack did major damage! Gligar's lowered defence combined with Nido's Rivalry caused the attack to deal a big hit to his health. Gligar was a bit disoriented but managed to shoot a Poison Sting at Nido. He fought through, the attack doing minor damage due to his type. Gligar was at one end of the field, Nido on the other next to the almost knocked out Machop. This next round would decide the battle. If Machop could get in one more Leer before the poison knocks him out then Nido may have a chance. It was all up to the next round.

This was it! Majin felt it. It was too close for Nido and Machop. They looked so exhausted that Majin wanted to call it quits for them, but couldn't. If they'd want that, they'd let him know in their own way. Nido and Machop were going to turn into strong fighters.

Nido offered assistence to Machop to help get him up. The four-legged Pokémon noticed he was able to. Atleast the leers could be performed when he was down, but they needed to be accurate. Two more leers on top of two pecks, that would be insane and Gligar would HAVE to fall. If not, save the attack Nido. Majin hoped.

"Machop! Use two leers! Hurry. Nido, use two pecks!"

With that, the orders were in and even though there was a good distance between them all, in these last few seconds, Majin felt like h'd had a heart attack. It was his first big battle. Saving Machop from the Wingulls were nothing compared to this battle. It even made him rethink his future team. All the boy was worried about now is them finishing Gligar off. They needed too or else both Pokémon would beat themselves up.
