Popple ftw

The fresh ocean air is such a beautiful scent to let tease your nostrils. The slight crisp hint of salt makes it even more elegant to behold, feelings though you are on an island resort. Sorry, kiddo, but you're in Millenia Town! Now, to business. All you had was three-hundred bucks, cash, and a Pokemon-- Maris the Feebas. If you plan on letting the Pokemon travel alongside you, outside of the Poké Ball, I suggest you walk alongside the beach. A flopping Feebas following around behind you might turn heads, and not in a good way. But just traveling around aimlessly wasn't the only thing you could do! There are stores to visit, beaches to roam, and a Battle Camp to help Maris master the art of battling! Splash has no potential whatsoever, so perhaps the Battle Camp might offer TM's of the sorts to help change the Splash only moveset. The possibilities are limitless to do here in Alternia, so get up and do something! There's hot babes that you could try to make a move on. Or guys, if that's more your style. I know nothing, so you could swing either way. The point is, get out there, have fun, and let nothing stand in your way. {Short journey start is short T_T} |

Millenia town. From the looks of it, Landen was really going to enjoy himself here. He could smell the ocean and he definitely wanted to hit the beach while he was here. He could probably let Maris out and everything and swim with her. That'd be great. He also liked this new poketech watch thing that basically ran this new region. Landen was going to treat this like a vacation, a well needed one in the shadow of his parents' death. But I'm doing this for him... Landen sat down on the beach, it was warm enough today that his sweater was stuffed into the space between his back and his backpack. It was kind of hot and Landen decided that he would go explore the town a little before resting at the beach. He left the sunny, windy beach for the center of Millenia Town. "Sorry Maris, we'll go for a swim after I explore a little." Landen walked by a plethora of shops of all sorts offering things Pokémon and non-POKéMON related. Nothing really caught his eye, that it, until he came across the battle camp. Suddenly interested he went in to find someone to ask about what he could do here. (Short post, I have to leave my house now, T_T) |

![]() Upon entering the facility known as the Millenia Battle Camp, a woman with beautiful pink hair and matching fuchsia eyes greeted Lan, a Natu on her shoulder doing the same. "Hi, and welcome to the Millenia Battle Camp- I'm Ginger, today's battle coordinator. Please, feel free to look around before signing up!" Ginger smiled at the young man. "Natu!" The Natu perched upon her shoulder too gave Landen a warm welcoming. These people seemed friendly enough, perhaps the outline of all people in Millenia could be just like this. Landen looked around a bit, he could see a poster which housed all sorts of information on the Battle Camp. It turns out that this is a day-long event in which trainers battle on different tiers of difficulty which they select. The first, Novice tier, was a one versus one battle in which the trainer competing will use a team of rental Pokemon who are level fifteen. Their own Pokemon will not get a chance to compete, but it gives the trainers a sense of what battling is like. The only other tier which Landen could perhaps compete in is the Beginner rank. Competing in the tier rank allows a trainer to use their own Pokemon, but the Pokemon is all on its own; Trainers don't command their Pokemon and don't have a say in what moves are used. Having a Pokemon as young as Maris compete on her own might not end well, but if Landen is looking to level her it's probably his best bet. "Well, have you come up with a decision?" Ginger looked up at Landen, asking the question with her large pink eyes focused on the boy's face. She really didn't seem too old, maybe twenty at most. But now isn't the time to look for a date, Landen! Even if Ginger was flirting with the attractive young man he couldn't give in- he's here to learn the ropes of battling. |

Landen rubbed Maris's pokeball as he walked into the facility. He looked around, wondering where he should go before he was approached by a woman with pink hair. he thought the pink hair was an odd fashion statement but she was obviously someone who worked there and was very kind. he smiled politely at her and then glanced at the Natu, studying it carefully before he began to look around again, finding a poster with some information on it. "Thank you." Landen replied to her as he studied the poster with care, taking a couple of minutes to go over all of the activities. After today, he would definitely have some battle experience and know how to handle Pokémon. He did want to be a good trainer for Maris. He wanted to be a good trainer to protect himself from wild Pokémon, too, so he could explore the lands and go on the adventure of a lifetime for his parents. Perhaps I should do the Novice tier for now, just to get a grip on battling. Besides, I don't think Maris knows many moves or has the battle experience to be able to fight on her own... Landen was deep in thought when the girl started to speak to him again. He looked up at her but Landen didn't realize she was flirting with him. He wasn't quite in the mood for this right now. He looked back at the poster one last time before coming to a conclusion. "I'd like to try the Novice tier, please." |

"Hehe. What's a strong trainer like you doing competing in the Novice Rank?" Ginger, who answered Landen's request with a giggle seemed to be trying to flirt with the man still even though she could clearly tell he was just not in the mood. The Natu perched upon her shoulder gave her a little tap on the head, shaking its own head (body...) in disapproval. "Hey!" The Natu rolled its eyes at Ginger, hopping off of her shoulder and onto the desk. "Oh..right. Sorry! Here, let me get you signed up..." Ginger took her eyes off Landen (for once) and began to sift through a notebook on her simple wooden desk. "Alrightie, here we are. Follow me, to the Novice Rank Competition room!" Ginger rose from behind her desk and began to wander down a light hall-way. "Hm, I don't believe I caught your name, actually?" At this point Ginger didn't seem like she was flirting and instead just trying to make some sort of chit-chat with the man she was guiding to his destination. "The rules are simple for these matches; I'll give you three Pokemon to start off with, and if you happen to win your first battle you'll move on, and be able to trade any of your Pokemon for one of the ones your opponent happened to use against you. There's eight trainers competing today, so you'll have to win three matches in order to be crowned the champ! Simple enough." Ginger's brief run-down of how today's battle would work was easy enough, and of course if he had questions Landen could ask. Ginger stopped mid-step, turning on a dime. "Here we are!" The lady pointed to a simple glass door with the Roman numeral for four printed on it. Through the door the other seven trainers were visible, each of them waiting patiently for the eighth competitor to enter. The second Landen stepped through the door he witnessed something he probably had never seen before. The room, which was quite large despite its small door way was divided into four sections, each noted by a rectangular field made up of tiny little LEDs. In the center of all the rectangular battle fields were red and white lights making up Poke Balls. In the center of the room was a four-sided display screen with a picture of each trainer who was competing today--including Landen--displayed. The trainer who was in the same block as Landen was a teenage boy, apparent by the acne on his face, braces in his mouth and glasses on his nose. "Finally!" The boy pictured on the screen ran up to Landen, throwing his hand on his hip when he abruptly stopped in front of the twenty year old. "We've been waiting hours! Hurry up, let's battle!" From the looks of things on the other four fields the other trainers here today already battle, and Landen and whoever his competitor was were the last to fight. "Oh, hold on!" Ginger ran up to Landen, handing him a belt which had three Poke Balls on it. "Here, hun. There's a picture of each Pokemon on the front, so just select whomever you want to use first. I'll hold onto your Pokemon if you'd like." Whether Landen hands Ginger his Poke Ball containing his Feebas or not she would eventually walk away and just stand in her own zone, watching the two men duke it out in the Novice Battle. "Alright," an intercom voice proclaimed. "Finally an eighth competitor has made his way onto the field! Let's get this show on the road- trainers, take your sides...fight!" The voice didn't really give much time to either side for them to do what they were told, but surely Landen could hurry up and get into this battle. The opponent was quick to pull out one of his Poke Balls, launching it into the glowing field. The sphere opened in a flash of light, reveling a large moth-creature. "Alright, Dustox! Use Gust on whatever that pretty-boy throws out! Haha!" The quickness of the apposing trainer would give Landen time to plan on what he wanted to do in this battle, seeing as he had three options right now. Raising one eyebrow, Landen finally realized that Ginger was flirting with him. He didn't say anything to her "Strong trainer" remark, but watched as her Natu took care of it for him. He watched Ginger with a new interest now, he was flattered that she was doing this towards him now that her Pokémon had made it completely obvious. "Signing me in would be... wonderful." She obviously didn't need his full name in order to register him, Landen just assumed that he would be given a number or something. He didn't say anything as he followed Ginger down a hall. He watched her walk, wondering if this was maybe still part of her flirting. His attention went straight to her face as she turned to ask his name. "My name is Landen. What exactly are the rues to this battle?" Landen had read about the competition on the poster by the front desk but hadn't actually caught the gist of what he was supposed to do when he got there, and what exactly were his Pokémon. He decided to mess around with Ginger a bit and hoped she noticed that as he stretched his arms up that his shirt had gone up a bit to show a nicely toned stomach and V shaped lines running down to hide under his jeans. He just couldn't help himself, butt his was serious. Landen was not so experienced in battle, only in their type pairings and so on. From his parents keeping Pokémon around all of the time, he felt confident in his knowledge, but not so much when it actually got down to battling. Landen didn't really have any questions, except to where his Pokémon were that he was supposed to use to battle. "Thank you..." Landen entered the rather large room and let his eyes roam over the battlefield. He still didn't have his Pokémon as a rather obnoxious looking teenager ran over to him. Landen grimaced a bit but tried to hide it as the boy was complaining about how late he was. It wasn't his fault that no one had shown up while he was waiting. IN any case, the boy took his place and Landen took his before turning to Ginger. He was about to ask about the Pokémon when she handed him a belt. He glanced down at the pokeballs clipped on and the pictures on them, instantly recognizing one from his youth. Smiling at Ginger, Landen handed her a pokeball and looked into her eyes. "Her name is Maris, she is my only Pokémon, a Feebas. Expect me to want to take her back." He winked as Ginger walked away with Maris in her hand and Landen clipped on the belt, not tightening it but letting it slack about his left thigh. Now it was definitely time to battle. He grabbed the pokeball that he recognized, realizing that it was a great choice up against a bug type. The watch on his wrist lit up as he pulled up information on his Pokémon. "Okay, Farfetch'd! Use Aerial Ace and try to cut through that Gust!" Having no idea how this battling system worked, Landen just chose a Pokémon that he recognized and hoped for the best. Aerial Ace is a quick move, perhaps the bird Pokémon will be able to cut through the strong wind and attack nonetheless. Perhaps. |

Ginger took your Feebas, but perhaps held onto your hand for a teency bit longer than expected. Although the Natu was a bit annoyed, Ginger just gingerly (see what I did there?) took your pokeball away and gave you a graceful smile. This woman was pretty confident in herself, she wasn’t even blushing in all of these advances! She walked away, swaying her hips in that hypnotizing motion… left, right, left right…. But *ahem* let’s get to the matter at hand. Landen’s eyes traveled away from Ginger’s hourglass figure and found an acne face snot-nosed brat complaining about this and that. Talk about an eye-sore. Ugh, I hate punks like that kid. All grease-faced and disgusting, both in appearance and attitude. Luckily, you’re here to teach this guy some manners. He even sent out his Dustox before you were ready, what nerve! Matching his personality, this punk didn’t seem that bright either. He gave away his plans and allowed you ample time to think of a counter plan. On top of that, one of the pokeballs you were handed contained a friend from the past, and someone who would be extremely helpful in this situation.
The bird pokemon appeared after the usual spectacle, and gave a few of its namesake cries before rushing off to obey. Brandishing its lifeline and weapon, the Farfetch’d darted straight through the gust attack, slashing and cutting the winds apart with its leek. After finishing in ninja fashion, it shot a satisfied look at you and a degrading one at the opposition. I think this guy likes you. Now, Farfetch’d would’ve liked to attack, but these battle camp pokemon were trained only to follow order and not do much on their own. It couldn’t do much beside stand there and ruffle its feathers a bit. On the plus side, that impatient jerk really didn’t have much to say after your attack and his Dustox received no further instructions. It looks like these pokemon will follow your commands. Your move sunshine. YOU Level 15 55/55 93%HIM Level 15 55/55 95%

Nervous, Landen watched as his bird Pokémon of a remembered past did his own bidding. He smiled as the spunky little Pokémon emerged from the white blast form the pokeball, she looking both magnificent yet powerfully vicious to Landen. He unclenched his fists and loosened his jaw, not even realizing he was performing these actions, when the fierce bird Pokémon broke apart the wind with ease. "Good job, Farfetch'd!" Watching Farfetch'd's look of approval of Landen warmed his own little heart. Landen couldn't help but feel extreme satisfaction on belittling the teenager's tactics. The teenager didn't even seem to react to what he had just witnessed. Confidence slowly rising within Landen, he glanced at Ginger who was gingerly holding his precious friend in her hands and smiled before turning back to the battle. He glanced down at the moves Farfetch'd knew with his pokedex application lighting up on his wrist. "Use Knock Off and try to turn it into a fury attack on Dustox." Landen was hoping that Farfetch'd would thwack Dustox had and continue the combination with an onslaught of small attacks on the foul creature. Calling it foul might be going a little far, but this was battle! |

So far so good right? Although by most counts, the two of you would are even, you certainly gained the momentum in that last round, try to hold on to it though, kay?
Farfetch’d looked back at you for a moment before nodding curtly and hastening to obey your commands. She heard something a little bit different than you intended, perhaps a bit too eagar to perform, she rushed over to deliver a sounding slap with her leek against Dustox. Then, turning around before Dustox could react, she jabbed at the bug type with her leek many times. It wasn’t knock off, but it was fury attack. Meh, she basically got down what you wanted. Anywho, the leek hit several times before Dustox managed to separate itself from the fray and built some distance. The teenager you were facing as silent the whole time. You know before how I thought that silence was a good thing… well, I was wrong. Turns out he was formulating a plan, and waiting to strike for the perfect moment. After your onslaught, he exploded in commands and shouted, “Dustox, Triple Confusion! Break it’s little bird brain open!” Dang, this kid was vicious. Dustox, only too happy to obey to attack Farfetch’d after the pummeling it just took, charged for a moment before sending three pulses of psychic energy at the bird Pokemon. With every flutter of its wings, Dustox increased the intensity of the confusion attacks, until Farfetched finally, dropped to one knee, holding her head with her free hand. Looks like the kid was more formidable than you thought… To cap it off, the kid started to taunt you, “hey pretty boy, why don’t you go home. This is a Man’s game, not a place for sissies like you.” Wow, what an a-hole. And what’s he going on about being a man, I bet his momma picked out his dork outfit. Do me a favor, beat this kid soundly would you? Oh by the way, it looks like your battle was starting to attract a crowd. Twenty people, including Ginger, were looking on. Grimacing, Landen watched as Farfetch'd only used a fury attack because he hadn't made himself clear enough to her. In addition, the Dustox had unleashed one wicked attack upon his poor little bird Pokémon. She had grounded and was holding her head, at least it was better than her being confused. Landen had to do something about this. "Farfetch'd are you alright?" His Pokémon seemed to be okay besides the damage she took and the massive headache she seemed to have now. It was now time for Landen to get really, really serious. It wasn't confidence driving him on anymore, it was pure determination to beat this dumb kid, especially after that remark he just made, directed at Landen. "A man's game, you say? Listen, you snot nosed little brat, you look like you still go crying to your mother whenever you have the slightest problem. Why don't you grow out of the glasses, and when you don't have any craters on your face, I'll call you a man." Landen got pissed off for a second but found his composure as he tried to find a rise out of his opponent. Now he had a plan that would hopefully KO his stupid bug Pokémon. "Farfetch'd, I'm going to need you to work through that headache of yours right now. Let's take some satisfaction in this battle by using a triple aerial ace on that sorry Pokémon!" Landen thought that if Dustox could use a triple powered confusion, then Farfetch'd could definitely use a triple aerial ace combo and at high speed, Dustox would hopefully not be able to retaliate. |

Name-calling? What are you guys, three years old? A real man would’ve just brushed it off and continued with the match, who stoops down low to name calling, seriously? I don’t think that’s a very becoming characteristic, but the audience seemed to disagree with me. If anything, they were cheering you on, and Ginger’s gaze was even more concentrated on you, if that was possible. Geez, I don’t know what to make of this situation anymore. Your opponent turned red with fury, or was it shame? Anywho, he resorted with shouting back a few insults in your direction, “shut your face, prissy-pants.” Prissy-pants, what kind of lame excuse for an insult is that? He sure is acting like a nincompoop, so make sure you give him a good thrashing. Not that I approve of violence or anything. After witnessing poor Farfetch’d taking an onslaught of confusion attacks, you got the brilliant idea to counter measure for measure. Commanding Farfetch’d to do a triple aerial-ace would be enough to finish the punk of; I mean, each attack was going to be super-effective! The boy, overhearing your plan, countered with one of his own, “Dustox, finish him off with more confusion attacks.” Farfetch’d jumped into battle, brandishing her leek like a samurai would use a katana, and began her attacks. I don’t know if you know this, but aerial-ace is a very accurate move, so I’m not sure if you were too surprised when Farfetch’d managed to land two strikes before Dustox could react. Before the third swing found its target though, Dustox launched a confusion at Farfetch’d. This attack amanged to do what the others failed at, and landed Farfetch’d on a confused state. Still, not to be outdone, Farfetch’d found her bearing and struck Dustox with the last aerial ace, knocking out the bug Pokemon. “Stupid Dustox, I can’t believe you couldn’t take down one bird. You deserve to lose for being so pathetic,” the brat screamed, voice cracking at every other word. Cursing still, he threw another Pokeball, revealing a giant Rock snake. So now it’s Farfetch’d (still confused) against the massive Onix. Your move bub. Level 15 25/55 61%[confused] V.S. Landen smiled as the crowd cheered on his trash talking. Years of being a rude, inconsiderate snob had done him well for a situation like this where he could mouth off well in order to piss people off. He was also satisfied as Farfetch'd had struck the bug Pokémon with ease before it had collided with the confusion attack. Luckily the last attack hit with ease in order to knock out the Dustox. Farfetch'd landed, looking like a drunk in it's confusion. "Alright Farfetch'd, good job. I want you to return and rest." Landen was awestruck by the giant, rock snake Pokémon that emerged from the kid's pokeball after Landen intentionally ignored his anger-provoked slurs. Farfetch'd disappeared in a red beam of light as Landen decided what to do next. Farfetch'd is weak and has a disadvantage, and I don't know if I have anything else that can take down that giant beast... "Go!" Landen snatched another pokeball form his hanging belt for a Rhino Pokémon to appear and Landen already had a plan, somewhat. He knew that Rhyhorn was a powerhouse but it didn't know many moves right now that could help it easily best an Onix. Nevertheless, the fierce Pokémon probably wouldn't back down. "Rhyhorn! Use tail whip then Stomp!" Landen wanted to lower Onix's defenses while also hoping the stomp would shock the Onix into submission(flinching) to give Landen another opening. Knowing well aware that Onix could up it's own defense, Landen didn't worry because now the boy had to use time to do that while tail whip could easily be used in an attack combo. And so, Rhyhorn charged off. |

Dang right Farfetch’d can’t handle Onix. He’s a beast, I mean, just look at it! It could probably just squish 95% of most Pokemon for a 1 hit KO. Actually... maybe you should go catch an Onix after this, it wouldn’t be such a bad idea… But there is a battle to win, so don’t go daydreaming off into fantasy land (which is filled with Onix spawns) when you have a match to focus on. Given your Pokemon of choice, it wasn’t such a bad idea to send out Rhyhorn. You really don’t have any other option this point. However, even though the Pokemon are similar in type, I would still have to give Onix the advantage, it’s a frikken rock snake. Just look at it, standing there at over twenty feet tall. It just stretches its preposterous size out to the skies! Be afraid, be very afraid. Luckily for you, Rhyhorn aren’t known for their cowardience. These behemoths charge into one another during play time, I think it may be able to hold its own against an Onix. Commanding it to tail whip though, perhaps not the best idea. When I think of Rhyhorn, I think of spikes and horns, not that puny little twig it’s got coming out of its rear which constitutes a tail. Onix on the other hand, is basically ALL tail. The obnoxious brat, seemingly calm now that he had the advantage, ordered the Onix to sweep Rhyhorn away with his own tail. It didn’t take a genius to predict what would happen next. Onix flicked Rhyhorn away, doing a bit of damage along the way. The counterattack worked a bit better for you at least. Not to be outdone so soon, Rhyhorn continued on with Stomp, while Onix attacked with Rage. The two attacks collided, although Rhyhorn outperformed Onix. Although Onix may be bigger in size, Rhyhorn is extremely condensed, small focused attacks would do a lot of damage. Level 15 45/55 92% Level 15 49/55 94% |

Landen was hoping that his plan would work. He really wanted to move one. And, if he could beat that Onix, it would mean that he would have a beast of a Pokémon to use for the future rounds. He desperately did not want this experience to end here. Rhyhorn, charging with all its might, was simply flicked away. It seems that Tail whip was a fail move for the rock beast to use. Landen was just about to give up hope of taking the win for this when Rhyhorn simply reared up again and inflicted a devastating stomp attack on Onix. Not too devastating, Onix was a beast. But now Landen had an idea of how to use Rhyhorn against Onix. "Rhyhorn, use Horn Attack then Stomp!" Landen spared a glance at Ginger, he smiled brightly at her and thought about what he would do after this battle camp thing with Maris. He should really train her. But, not to get too distracted int he midst of battle, Landen tore his gaze from Ginger and back to the Battle that ensued. |

Pretty impressive there, bro, the way you quickly adapt to using different Pokemon like that. Rhyhorn versus Onix was an interesting match up because neither could really take advantage of STAB or weaknesses, since neither could really throw anything at each other to get past the other's defense--so, in essence, I think you had a good idea with the Tail Whip earlier. That move doesn't even require physical contact--it's a distraction more than anything--so I'm going to retroactively award you the Defense bonus. I'm a big fan of trainers using strategies other than "HIT IT WITH UR HARDEST ATTKX "So, atta boy. Rhyhorn charged forward, tossing up dust and debris as every stomping movement caused small cracks to appear on the ground, and it was suddenly air born, thrusting it's horn into Onix's body. There was no particularly way to tell you had damaged the rock snake, outside of the blacked scratch, but the sheer force moved Onix back a few feet, causing the entire area to rumble with the movement. The sound that followed caused you to go dizzy might even make your eyes water--and the opposing trainer was sticking his tongue at you, having covered his ears in time: Onix screeched at your Rhyhorn, shaking it terribly. But it still managed to slam down with a mightly Stomp attack before getting out of there to await your next command. It's a shame that as it was stepping backwards it got caught in the face with a Rock Throw! The area was getting torn up by these mammoth Pokemon, but that just meant the battle was heating up, right? Go for the Gold, Chief. [Onix] Level 15 [-1 Defense] 39/55 86%[Rhyhorn] level 15 [-2 Defense] 41/55 78%Valentine: I'm applying damage as normal, then cutting it in half on both sides, then adding bits of damage for each stage of lowered defense. If there's a problem, please PM me. Because this is one of my first refs, I'll let you know my notes in case something seems off: Onix took 17/2 and Rhyhorn 6/2. Then the -1 Defense gave +2 damage and the -2 Defense on Rhyhorn +1 damage (since it's output was considerably lower in the first place, kinda mentally winged the extra.) |
