The sun's reign over the skies ended once more as day sunk into night. You could obviously feel the temperature change since your dark feathers soak up as much solar heat as possible in the day. The night was your chance to cool off a bit. Below you could see giants craters smashed into the earth, almost as if Arceus himself decided to take his anger out by beating up this barren field with all his fury. Even in harsh places like this, there was still beauty and life if you looked close enough. Few shrubs, weeds, and dried up plants scatter around the "plains". A family of Sandshrew could be spotted coming out of their burrow of a home to enjoy the nice refreshing night breeze.

If you look up, black silhouettes of smog could be found covering the myriad of heavenly bodies in the sky. Only a few dim, faded twinkles could be seen from the hidden stars. Stupid humans, how could they just ruin the beauty of stars shining in the sky? Well, what they're doing to kill this planet can't be stopped, so worrying about it would only make things worst. You continued your sight seeing of Meteoric Plains....After dark, only to be annoyed by strange laughs and a cry for help. That couldn't be a good sigh at all....

Below you were, what it seemed to be two Skorupies and a smaller then average Phanpy. From the looks, the two bug Pokemon has found their dinner for tonight. After a sudden move by the one of the Skorupi, the blue elephant plunged to the ground and shrieked in pain. "Some one please help me!" Well, in a rough place like this, only the strongest survive, why mess with the natural order?

Vito was winging along through the night air. He loved the night and the darkness that accompanied it. After leaving the place he considered his home for so long, it felt... empowering to know that he was out on his own. He missed Fiona, but knew that she could fend for herself. After all, if she could put up with him for so long, then she could get past anything. He did a couple of aerial moves while whistling a song that Fiona had hummed to him as a child for so long. She had called it "Speak Softly, Love." It was his favorite, and he knew that nothing could bring him down now.

Well, almost nothing at any rate. He looked down to hear that poor Phanpy's terrified screams. Vito grimaced, not wishing to get involved, but he couldn't help but feel the tug at his heart strings. Fiona had always risked everything to protect him... and besides. He didn't know anyone out here too well. Perhaps if he helped out this Phanpy out, she or her family would return the favor later. Those Skorupi were probably just hungry, but he maybe he could persuade them to back off. He hated entering a fight that could potentially end up being two on one depending on how hurt the Phanpy was, but it couldn't be helped. He winged down there and landed promptly on the crying Phanpy's head. He bowed and smiled at the two of them. He was glad that they were both directly in front of them, because he could concentrate his Confuse Ray into a smaller arc for greater effect that way.

"Evening, gentlemen and lady. Call me Vito. What seems to be the problem here?"

He then whispered so that only the Phanpy could hear him.

"If I were you, I'd keep your eyes closed and be ready to fight on my signal. This could get rough, and I have no intention of becoming the appetizer while you end up the main course.

The two Skorupi looked at you, obviously very angry. They had no intention of dealing with someone else as they tried to get their dinner! On no sir. "Back off bud, this doesn't concern you." The bigger Skorupi said, as it moved it's body in a slightly intimidating manner. The smaller looked at you, obviously not happy either.

The smaller Skorupi whispered something into the bigger ones ear. The smaller Skorupi began to walk around in a circle between you and where it was just standing. Interestingly enough, it is a smart tactic for just about any situation. The smaller began to chuckle slightly, as it began to walk slightly faster.

"Please don't let them eat me!" The phanpy cried out in fear. "Shut it!'The bigger Skorupi yelled. It didn't seem to be too pleased anymore, and began moving agitatedly. "Listen bud, I suggest you get lost before were forced to hurt you. It's a rough world out here, and we gotta eat. So disturb the natural order. It said as it began to move towards the Phanpy.

The Skorupi seems to have a point, so what are you gonna do? Help this poor little elephant, or let the Skorupi eat in peace? Either way you gotta decide... now!

Vito frowned as the Skorupi began to circle him. This wasn't good, but was expected. Skorupi weren't known to be the most philanthopic of Pokémon. Besides, they weren't offering him anything to stop them, and the Phanpy would probably be willing to give up any and all of its worldly possessions for another chance at life, he wasn't exactly prone to listen to the bug Pokémon. Fiona had taught him that all life had value, and that he should fend for those who can not fend for themselves. After all, if he hadn't been given the help from a friendly stranger, he may never have lived to be in this sticky situation.

"Unfortunately, gentlemen, I can not refuse a cry of help from a damsel in distress. Call it a personal obligation that I must uphold..."

Vito began to summon a bunch of energy to his eyes while glaring at the bigger Skorupi, happy to know that the Phanpy was underneath him with her eyes closed.

"There was a right move and a wrong move to do there. Hint: circling me was not the right one."

With that, Vito unleashed a dazzling Confuse Ray at the older Skorupi, and then winged towards the younger Skorupi. He yelled to the Phanpy while flying furiously!

"NOW! Open your eyes and attack the younger Skorupi with me!"

After getting closer to the younger Skorupi, he prepared to plunge his beak down twice for two diabolical Peck attacks. He better be getting something out of this...

Interesting tactic I must say. Still, it seems to be well thought, but you never can know till it actually goes through. Your first attempt was a confuse ray, now lets see how it ends up, shall we?

The Confuse Ray seemed to have been effective, as the older Skorupi began to sway to both sides with it's eyes in an odd shape. It wasn't very sure of what it was doing, so it just sat down the best it could and began to shake it's head. To try and make the effects of the Confuse Ray wear off faster.

You were now ready to assault the younger Skorupi, which by the way was not paying attention to you at all. It's focus was the Phanpy, and just getting it's meal. With the fact it didn't see you, it wasn't ready for the oncoming peck onslaught. It felt both of the Peck attacks to full force, and the Skorupi made an attempt to strike you with it's claw after the second, but you managed to get out of the way.

The Phanpy looked on as you managed to catch both of the Skorupi's off guard, it ran forward and charged into the older Skorupi, and knocked it back a bit. The Skorupi wasn't paying attention when it got struck, so it couldn't try to strike back. The Phanpy then ran by you, as you perched yourself back where you started.

Well all in all it was a very good first round for you, but let it get to your head. You never know what can happen in pokemon battles...

Vito was pleased the first salvo went off so well. He dodged the attack of the young Skorupi with relative ease, mostly due to his natural agility. However these two didn't look like they were going to take the hint and back off. Vito was going to have to make them an offer he couldn't refuse. He grinned devilishly at the two scorpion Pokémon in front of him.

Last chance, my friends. Leave now before it gets rougher.

Vito learned from Fiona that he shouldn't be a bully even to other bullies, but he also learned that actions speak louder than words.

"Hit 'em again, friendo!"

He winged up into the air, and darted towards the older opponent utilizing Astonish. Hopefully the sudden attack would take the dazed Skorupi by surprise and cause him to flinch. After that he turned towards the younger opponent and dove in trying to drive his beak down twice once more with two Peck attacks.

During the attack phase, Vito fervently hoped that his ally would do some damage as well. The sooner they sent the two Skorupi packing the better. He really wanted to save this Phanpy and be on his way. Afterall, he didn't really want to spend his entire life here on the Meteoric Plains. There was so much to do yet and so many places to go. However, Vito knew there would be time to make travel arrangements later. The battle was here and now, and it required his full attention.

The older Skorupi was still shaking his head when you darted down at him. However, he managed to get some sense of where he was by the time you got close. As soon as you got close enough, the Skorupi put it's tail up, catching you as he rolled backwards now with you being rolled with him. A soon as you two stopped rolling, the Skorupi began firing small pins from it's mouth. All of them hit, which may not have hurt a lot, but made it so that you were poisoned.

The Phanpy had noticed something was wrong when the Skorupi caught you off guard. By then she was already running as fast as she could towards the older Skorupi, and by the time the Skorupi had finished it's attack, was caught by a tackle to the side from the Phanpy. It knocked the Skorupi away from you, giving you time to escape. The Phanpy stared the Skorupi down as it let out a noise to try and intimidate the Phanpy. The Phanpy began to rake it's right leg across the floor in an attempt to try and stay focused, as the two pokemon continued to stare each other down.

The Younger Skorupi was growling at you as it noticed you were now coming towards it in an attempt to finish it off. It began to make small movements with it's mouth, and fired off several small pins just like the older Skorupi. Seeing as you were still a good distance away from the young Skorupi, all the needles missed, but they were enough to stop you in your tracks from finishing your attack.

Well it seems the Skorupi's managed to turn the battle into their favor, but now what are you going to do? Your poisoned, and the Skorupi's are attacking back full force. Better get some quick thinking done.

Great, Vito thought to himself. This was exactly what he should have expected to happen. %$@#ing karma. Ah well. No use crying over spilled MooMoo Milk, eh? Vito knew that if he remained poisoned that he wouldn't be protecting anyone under any circumstances for much longer, and that these Skorupi were going to have grilled Murkrow to go along with their tossed Phanpy salad. Fortunately, he had provisions for such emergencies. He reached under one of his feathers and pulled out a Pecha berry that he had been saving from long before he left his and Fiona's house. He munched down on it, savoring the succulent flavor. That was another thing the Phanpy owed him. The little girl was racking up quite the bill even if she didn't know it. However, 2 on 2 was obviously not working. His ally, whose name he didn't even know, needed to help him finish off the young Skorupi so they could team up on the old one.

"Nail the younger Skorupi, missie! Save the big boy for later!"

Vito summed up some energy again and aimed a pointed Confuse Ray right at the older Skorupi. After he sent the mysterious ray of light out, he turned and tried to furiously utilize a Peck attack at the younger Skorupi's skull. Vito knew that he needed to swing this battle in his favor soon, or else he'd be toast!

AN: Still can't believe you requested me. xD But thanks. Hope you enjoyed the ref, and if you wanna request me again, I'd be more than happy to ref you once again. Though, if you don't that's also understandable. ^_^

Looks like you got yourself stuck in quite the little predicament, haven't you? Then again, your luck seemed to be on the bad side with the events that occurred in the past. However, that's the past, and this is the present. You're stronger because of it. That's why events happen in one's life, that's why anything happens. Its so that we may become stronger when we learn from it. Everything thing is meant to make us grow if we pull through, the same with this battle. You're poisoned, right? So what! You're a smart little bird, and undoubtedly can easily come up with a plan.

And just as I said, you did. Eating a Pecha berry while poisoned? Excellent plan. It took a few moments for the effect of the berry to.. well.. take effect, but when the poison subsided you felt, rejuvenated almost. Now let's get back to this battle, shall we? You need to finish it as fast as you can so you can free up the rest of your night.

The ray of light was sent straight towards the older Skorupi, and before you flew off to fight the younger one. It appeared to be a direct hit. However, the scorpion had foreseen such an attack, and quickly shifted its body out of the attack's path. Meanwhile, you still flew over to the younger Skorupi. The Phanpy ran full force at it as well, aiming to tackle it, but the Skorupi shifted out of the way in time, before preparing to fire a poison sting at the Phanpy. Luckily, you came to the rescue and with the distracted Skorupi, you managed to land a very devastating peck attack. After you finished, the younger Skorupi just dropped, it had fainted and was no longer unable to battle. That left one last opponent.

Unfortunately, you were preoccupied with the younger Skorupi and failed to notice the older one charging at you. It leaped, and before long, sunk its death into your right wing, with a critical-hit from a bite. Fortunately, you possessed a slight resistance to dark type moves, so it wasn't as lethal as it could have been. And it didn't take long for the Phanpy to launch a tackle towards the older Skorupi, whom dodged it with relative ease, but not before releasing you from its bite.

Well, it looked like you and your "friend" had the advantage now. Two against one was always in favor of the team with two people, unless the opponent was insanely strong. But you could take him, right?

Vito cawed in delight at the collapse of the younger Skorupi. Now he and his pachyderm friend could gang up on the older one with relative ease.

That's the way! Now for the other one. Hey, bugbrain! Doesn't feel so good to be ganged up upon now, huh?

Vito felt the wind blow through his feathers as he eyed down his opponent. Now that there was only one enemy, he wouldn't have to split his attention. He welled up his energy and focused an intense Confuse Ray at the Skorupi, hoping to trap it in its own mind. He then prepared to launch himself with a two furious Peck attacks. He saw the devastating effects they had on the weaker one, and now he hoped they would do the same to the older one. The wind howled furiously and the stars shone down upon the battling Pokémon. The battle wasn't over yet, and it was still heating up! Vito was prepared to fight to the finish now that he had committed himself, and he eagerly awaited the results of the next stage of the battle.

Excellent work in taking one of them down. You now have the opportunity to gang up on this Skorupi, but I'd watch out if I were you. This one is definitely stronger than the younger, and with its accomplice out of the way, he seems rather furious now. He could definitely tell the odds were stacked against him, and began focusing on his speed. Don't fret though! Just because he was faster now, doesn't mean he automatically gained the advantage. You still had a partner to help you, and not only that, flying moves would be the most effective ones at the moment.

You concentrated, and sent out a Confuse Ray towards the Skorupi, whom dodged it, yet again. His movements were quick, and he moved as though he were a snake. He quickly attempted to close in towards you, leaping with his mouth open, ready for a bite attack. At the same time, you were about to use a double Peck, and with the speed the Skorupi was going, it appeared to be in his favor. Luckily for you, Phanpy jumped after the Skorupi, hitting it with a tackle from below. It appears that Phanpy was different now. It could have been that it was now two on one, or maybe you gave her confidence to help her defend herself, either way, she was pumped.

With Skorupi launched into the air, you flapped your wings rapidly, jetting towards him, and landing two direct Peck attacks on the underside of the Skorupi. Feeling the pain, he dropped onto the ground. "You'll pay for that!" shouted the Skorupi as he focused his speed once again.

Well, that wasn't too bad of a round, you two had the advantage still. Maybe in the next round you can finish him off.

Vito frowned as the Skorupi dodged his favorite move. So the little worm wanted to play a match of speed, huh? That wasn't a problem for Vito, who has always been proud of his natural agility. No use in trying to mess around though. He decided to use Focus on his speed as well, hopefully raising his speed to match the Skorupi's. He looked around and caught the eye of his partner.

"We're almost done now! Keep it up, miss! Plenty of times for introductions later. HYAH!"

After bolstering his quickness, he launched in with two more furious Pecks. The Skorupi was on its last legs already, and only one of them should be necessary to send the bug into blissful unconsciousness. Vito didn't want to really hurt the two Pokémon. They were, after all, just hungry and trying to get a meal. However, they were disrespectful and rude, and therefore deserved no mercy when it came to laying the smackdown on them! Vito had a glint in his eye and a battle-hungry smile on his face. The conclusion had to be coming soon!

Life is not a fairytale and there are no happy endings.
The last Skorupi glared at the Phanpy, ready to move in to attack the young female. He took a few small steps towards Phanpy, clacking them two fangs at raising his tail high, ready to inflict any fear into the young pokemon. However, his attention was now turned away from you. As the poison pokemon glared down on Phanpy, you came flying from behind, drilling your peck straight down into the Skorupi, finishing him off.

Finally, it was over. The Skorupi gave out a last breathe before fainting and you had no accomplished defeating two horrible pokemon and saving this little innocent miss. Plus, this helped both of you in the experience department. The little Phanpy looked up at you smiling "Thanks, I wouldn't of been able to get through that on my own. I'm Sh'ree by the way." She said as she picked herself up. Sh'ree huh? Quite an exotic name, I'm guessing its just a shortened version of "Sheree" although it doesn't make much difference..
